But I found them with Dr Morrow as my dentist and his hygienist who I just adore she's so encouraging and great her name is Hasina. BLACK MOUNTAIN DENTAL CARE IS THE BEST DENTIST OFFICE ON THE PLANET! They deserve a million stars! We moved to AZ from Kansas 3 years ago. I am dear friends with my dentist at home (went to her for 20 years) and worried I wouldn't find anyone equal to her. My husband found Black Mountain Dental Care (BMD) and had the best experience! He came home and said I would love them and that l really must give them a try. Unfortunately, I had already made an appointment with my sisters dentist in Scottsdale. I went to this dentist and it was not the same, not even close to what I was used to. Something was missing. The ladies up front weren't that great and they could never figure out my insurance. So I said what am I waiting on! I switched over to Black Mountain Dental! YAY!! It was the best move I ever made bc they truly are the best dental office I have ever had. The entire staff is incredible! Over the past 2 years -I have gotten to know the AMAZING DENTISTS AND STAFF! Dr Mostafa Hedayat , Dr Morrow, and Dr Fletcher! They are all equally incredible and so talented. My son is now going to BMD and he lives 1 hour away. My elderly parents also now go here and my sister and her family switched from that not so good Scottsdale dentist to BMD! We ALLLLLL LOVE THIS PLACE! The office itself is SUPER NICE, BIG AND STATE OF THE ART! It is always totally sterilized and spotless. They offer lil comfy spa items during your visit, as well as drinks etc. We go 3 times a year (I would go every week-if I could). Awhile back an old crown came off. They are very busy but were able to get me in that day. I was very grateful bc I had an event the next day. So let's talk about the amazing hygienist, Hasina! WOW! She sets the bar in that department! I think it is a prerequisite for everyone to be the top in their field to work there. She is so impressive. She is also an instructor/mentor for other hygienist and I could totally tell bc it carried over into her cleaning. She was a perfectionist and I so much appreciated it! I feel like my gums are at the spa!! She spent a great deal of time on my teeth. I always learn so much from her regarding teeth care. Hasina is one in a million! My family always ask for Hasina but have had other amazing hygienists, as well. The staff up front are just as classy (again..it must be a prerequisite lol) Over these past years I have really gotten to know them. They are all so helpful in making appts, insurance issues, and checking out. Richard is AMAZING! Somehow he always gets stuck with dealing with me lol. He always answers the phone in his welcoming voice and in the office has outstanding customer service. Iris always helps my mom with her insurance and billing. Devyn, Amanda, Suzanna, Annarose and all the other gals are just the best. I absolutely LOVE going to the dentist here! We have so much fun (or at least I do lol) that I don't want to leave. The staff at the front desk are so important. First impressions are lasting impressions. They are who we see first and are the face of the business. First, let me help clear up that low star rating because this was a great experience for me and my teenaged son. In fact, I drove an hour from Goodyear (far West Valley) because I was in search of an African-American dentist, and Dr. Fletcher came highly recommended. Well, the hike and quarter tank of gas was worth it. They accomodated simultaneous appointments for my son and I for a routine exam and x-rays since we were coming from so far. The lobby area is just as lovely as all of the staff we encountered. The vibe was very professional, yet warm and welcoming. They use state-of-the-art technology to THOROUGHLY xray and clean your teeth. I mean, at my big age, I think that was the best cleaning I've ever had (shout out to Stacy) with all kinds of tech equipment I'd never experienced before! My teeth were clean-clean! Dr. Fletcher was super nice and made me feel very comfortable--even as she gave me the news of my cavity and the need for a filling! She was even able to squeeze me in so I didn't have to make another trip out. I was a little nervous, but guess what? Nothing hurt and I skipped out without a trace of yuck mouth. Beware! Always seek a second opinion if anything seems fishy. Being new to AZ, I went here to establish care after losing my sleep apnea device on vacation. I was told I had five cavities that needed filling eminently, sealants, and multiple gum treatments before they would address the sleep apnea issue. This provider takes insurance. I have only had two fillings in my entire life. I receive regular dental care. I was pretty sure I didn't have five cavities that needed filling. So I sought a second opinion. I was told by the 2nd opinion dentist that I had a few spots that needed watching but no treatment was necessary currently. They had a laser treatment in office and could treat my gums that day and set me up for my sleep apnea consult. No sealants recommended. The second provider I went to was an out of pocket dentist but didn't try to over sell me on things I didn't need. read more

I had a horrible experience with this office. It felt like a factory to me when I refused a deep cleaning, which I felt was being oversold. I was immediately dismissed from the Dental chair. The dental hygienist refused to do a cleaning, which is what my appointment was for, but it gets worse as I go out to reception to settle whatever bill there would be since I did have x-rays taken. I have been to various dentists in my life. There are two different types of dentists. A standard dentist office, usually a quaint office, a dentist who has been in practice for many years, someone you trust that you continue to go to with your family for years. They don't try to upsell you, let's you know what's up with your teeth and don't push. Then there are dentists like Black Mountain Dental Care. I received a mailer for 59.00 for cleaning and X-rays. I decided to give them a shot being new to town and looking for a new dentist, though I had my suspicions about the upselling. First, I will say the staff is incredibly friendly. No issues with any of the staff. Looong story short, I was told I would need to get 1500.00 in advanced cleaning of my teeth (trust me I have nice teeth lol), suggested I get a 500.00 retainer (I've had braces and Invisalign already in my life) and told I couldn't just book a regular check up and cleaning again for 6 months from now, I "had" to get the advanced cleaning before I could proceed with regularly scheduled visits. I was also told I should get a fluoride treatment....I don't think that has been a suggestion since I was a kid. I was at the dentist office for over two hours for a routine checkup and cleaning, told I need over 2000.00 in unnecessary services and couldn't just book regular 6 month apps. Truthfully I'm not really surprised as this has happened once before with a different dentist and their mailer in another state but I was hoping it would be a different story here. It was like being at a timeshare for dental work. I'm not their ideal customer, I get it. I have straight white teeth and no problems but if they really wanted to retain me, a good bill of health the first time and 2k in recommendations the second, maybe I would have been more emotionally invested. I give two stars because service was good but high pressure sales and long service time were a deterrent. read more

Believe the gentleman who wrote the review that said "you've been warned".  We are senior citizens and new residents. I will speak for myself, although my husband and I had the same experience at Black Mountain Dental.  Over my lifetime I've been fortunate to have had only three dentists. I am extremely diligent with my dental hygiene and opt for preventive care with cleanings every three months. My dentist of the last 28 years also took-rays every few years and did a wellness check after each cleaning. I was told with my hard work there has been no change in my teeth since I began at his practice. He also handled most of our large family and never upsold, fear mongered, or steered us to unnecessary procedures. We found Black Mountain Dental by walking in after lunch in the same parking lot to book teeth cleanings. The office was large and clean at first glance. We were told to come back in a few days and it would be $79 each for our cleanings.  When I arrived, the dental hygienist said I was required to get x-rays. I told her I did not want them. She said she could not clean my teeth without them because she wouldn't know what was going on in my mouth. I stated several times I did not want them and I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. I acquiesced after saying no several times to get my teeth cleaned. She then assured me it was included in the $79 fee and the amount of radiation from the x-rays was very minimal and did I know how low?  I can't believe I didn't walk out at that time. She also asked several times what I wish would be better about my teeth. I have great teeth due to my parents, braces and working at caring for them. They are also all still my own. In addition, I was a model when I was young and I won a national photogenic award thirty years ago. So, NO I did not want anything done to my teeth except cleaning.  After my full Intraoral full mouth imaging she instated on poking the gums around each tooth in three places. comprehensive oral evaluation, Panorex NC, 2D Oral/facial photo imaging, treatment sim with 3D, Caries susceptibility test, prophylaxis adult, nutritional counseling (I eat perfectly), tobacco counseling (I have NEVER smoked), oral hygiene instruction (I'm over the top about clean teeth and mouth), and a periodic evaluation. When she was poking each gum at one point she pushed really hard inside my lower left teeth and then reported that I was bleeding in that area and it may be some kind of issue, infection, or pocket of some kind. That spot had absolutely no pain nor did any of my teeth before my appointment, but my teeth in the poked areas and jaw were very painful afterwards for a week with migraines that I had not had before the appointment. Then, my nightmare continued. She called in a lovely dentist that seemed to say with her eyes that she was sorry about what was going on (just my opinion) as I begged her to have the hygienist clean my teeth. You read right. Two hours later my teeth had not been cleaned. I begged nicely to the dentist who told the gal to go ahead. She then cleaned my teeth with some kind of electric or laser device for 5-10 minutes.  Alas, the nightmare continued. The hygienist told me I had two teeth with a small surface crack that should get at new crowns. I asked her if the small lines she saw looked new or if they were down into my teeth. She said there was no way to tell but fear mongered me into thinking my teeth would crack to the roots and told me it would only be about $479 per tooth for my part or in total with additional costs for antibiotic and anesthesia it would be about $1,300 out of pocket. When I looked at the estimate the total was almost $5,000. My husband's estimate was close to $6,000.  Still, not the end of this crazy...They tried to insist on injecting antibiotics in the area she made bleed. BTW...they did perform this same song and dance procedure on my husband. They said I would need to come back for more as well for each of us. She recommended teeth whitening and so many things I didn't want or need. I just looked at my bill for the guaranteed $79 cleaning and it looks like they billed over $400 to Delta Dental. What a scam. My dentist back home took a look at my teeth and said there were as always -no issues and to continue doing what I am doing and find a new dentist. Not personable at all - you're a number and a dollar sign to them. Unnecessary procedures requested ( which I learned only after leaving them and finding a new dentist ). They wouldn't even allow me to just have my teeth cleaned until I set up a plan for my future visits. I have heard story after story of bad experiences through friends about this place - no one stays and no one has anything good to say. WARNING. I am fairly new to Arizona as my husband and I moved here from Michigan where we lived for a year while we looked for a home in Scottsdale (after selling our home very quickly in San Francisco). I found that Black Mountain was contracted with our insurance so I made an appointment. I was there for almost 2 hours with X-rays and test after test and ultimately no 6 month cleaning which was the whole reason I was there. The hygienist poked my gums so hard and so many times on each tooth while I flinched and wriggled around in pain, so of course they started to bleed. She then said "healthy gums don't bleed". Well, if she would've poked my finger that hard and that many times with a sharp tool, my finger would have bled too. It was awful. One of the worst experiences I've ever had at a dentist. The hygienist then told me I needed a $$$$ deep cleaning. I go to the dentist religiously every 6 months. I went to three different dentists in the last couple of years because of moving and NO OTHER DENTIST ever told me I needed a deep cleaning. Also, the hygienist looked at my X-rays and said 3 or 4 of my crowns needed to be redone. I literally just had those done by an endodontist 7 months ago!! I would never recommend Dr. Morrow at Black Mountain. After having my teeth cleaned he came in to examine them. He said, I had a cavity and since the tooth had an old large filling it was best to have the tooth capped. Within minutes, while I was still in the hygienist's chair a person from the business office approached me with a cost estimate and wanted me to sign it. She added that the estimate was good for 30 days! I did not sign it. I consulted with 2 other dentists who did not see any cavity! I switched to his associate. Prior to this Dr. Morrow said I needed my wisdom teeth removed. I am a senior citizen and have never had a problem with them. He recommended removal of all 4. During the difficult procedure he knocked off 2 existing caps of teeth close by. They landed on the floor. He did put them back on upon completion of the extractions. One in particular never felt right again. I did report this to him. He said sometimes you just get strange sensations after but in time it would go away. Moving forward, I was in for a cleaning and saw the associate I switched to, who after examining my teeth said one of the teeth mentioned above had to be removed. There was a crack in the tooth below the cap and probably under the cap but wouldn't know for sure until he took off the cap. After seeing the expense for a post to replace it I made an appt. to speak with Dr. Morrow to inform him of the problem I felt he created and expected him to absorb the cost of removal and for a post. He went back in his notes. He NOTi documented the caps being knocked off he said, "since it's a common occurrence". He totally disagreed with his associate and outright said his associate was wrong and there was no problem with that tooth. I asked him 3x and he repeated there was "no problem". I went to a well respected periodontist and 2 other dentists for a consult. All agreed the tooth had a serious problem and needed removal and the sooner the better. I did not have a good experience here. I had a chipped tooth in the front that had a filling which I usually replace every 4-5 years with no issues, so it did happen again this time. Scheduled at Black Mountain dental with Dr.Magee. my first appointment wait time was over 40 minutes, then the whole appointment felt rushed - I had to ask the dr for a mirror so I could at least see what was done? It's the front tooth and I think it is pretty important. The dr kept pushing veneers which they probably make $$$ on and filling my tooth seemed as an inconvenience to her. My bill was over $350 for probably a 10 min sloppy fix with rough edges, which I mentioned to her but she ignored and rushed me out the door. Well the filling broke off along with the initial leftover filling I had 3 days later. Came back to get it done today, and she didn't even greet me and was utterly annoyed by having to fix it all over again. Kept pushing veneers as before and made me feel like fixing a tooth with the dental bonding was the stupidest idea ever. I also think she applied the bonding to my neighbor tooth and tried to fix it by filing it I down and it was incredibly painful . She did not let me check the teeth before leaving. and I honestly just couldn't wait to leave. Came home to see that the tooth she fixed now overlaps the other tooth next to it . Just a sloppy careless job overall. I do not think Dr. Magee cares about her patients and either overworked and / or underpaid . I went for an emergency toothache and after 3 X-rays dr fletcher told me I might have an infection or I might have bone loss or I might need an endodontist. She asked me how long ago was my last cleaning - I told her 4 mos. Apparently that's a long time because she said the first thing they need to do is a deep cleaning. I saw dr fletcher before for the same problem - she fixed me right up. This time I need a $$$$ deep cleaning. Scammers and sales pushes and be careful for they try to make you sign their "proposal" but read the fine print for if you change your mind they "charge you!!!!!" This place is the worst. Go with your gut feeling and also don't sign what they tell you is their huge huge huge $$$$ treatment plan without reading fine print for your getting the treatment for sure and have no 2nd thoughts for they charge you because "you signed"!!! Some wacko $150 because I canceled (with notice) my next appointment and didn't want to reschedule because my gut feeling was so bad on their treatment plan and how they tried to max out plus add thousands to every single one of my family that went for basic cleaning (we have excellent insurance and my kids have great teeth and they said we needed to use it!!). Never heard of such shady practices in dentists. I put in a complaint with both my dental insurance companies that these guys need to be watched! Oh they will try to take you to collections. dr magee is disreputable. on my return visit to have my crown placed i was diverted to the hygienist room and full mouth x rays done. i did not ask for these and my insurance was billed as well as my name given to another dental facility for another procedure they suggested i get. i was told to look over the information and if i wanted to contact any of the facilities i could. do dentist not have to adhere to hipaa? after wasting time i had not planned for, i was then taken to another room where the crown was finally put on but now told bc of the xrays i needed another tooth fixed immediately by magee. while i was in the hygienist room a sales person comes in and asks how i will be paying wants me to sign paper work i could not see because i was garbed up and did not have my glasses on. this is coercion. i ended up paying for a service i had not wanted or been scheduled for at that appointment. they didnt even get consent for it until i returned on my 3rd visit. then a paper is brought in and im asked to sign for the service i had not previously consented for but magee did. i was forced to give them a payment form while in the chair getting work i had not requested. i have since reviewed my insurance information where i discovered the padded amount billed to patient. the first two times i left and developed a cough bc dr magee doesn't let the assistant suction and i aspirated fluids. shes brutal with her drilling and bedside manner; besides coercing patient s while in a vulnerable position. i was afraid i wasnt ever going to get the original crown with everyone coming at me except the technician who actually does the crowns. now have constant pain on the tooth magee demanded needed emergency work. i didn't have any pain prior to her assault. i was extremely thankful magee did not come in on my last appointment. the technician who does the crown work is compassionate and professional. i was fortunate to have another dentist who actually introduced himself and didnt treat me like as inappropriately as magee who never introduced herself. read more

As citizens of the United States, we have the freedom to choose where we spend our money. If you understand this, then exercise it to the fullest and take your money anywhere else but here. Especially do not take advantage of any too-good-to-be-true Invisalign deals they claim to have going on because one day towards the end of treatment, when you've paid all your dues, their billing office may be feeling extra silly and may decide to send you a cute surprise to the tune of $1,000. I could sit here and bore you like countless other victims of Black Mountain Dental with the many disputes regarding insurance and payments I've had with their sad excuse of a billing office which is so obviously being held together by dried frosting like a disheveled gingerbread house. Much like the glue used on the fixed retainer on my bottom teeth which is falling off and is cutting up my tongue every time I so much as have a sip of water. I'm not sure what happened there, but the doctor and assistant carrying on a personal conversation whilst installing this retainer don't help their case. I've always given them and their unprofessionalism amongst other afflictions the benefit of the doubt and have been a loyal patron of Black Mountain Dental for about two years now. I should have known sooner that whoever runs this business is an opportunist who only sees their customers as cash cows. How pitiful... P.S. I've been really happy here. The office is new, modern, and clean. The staff is super professional and efficient - I have never waited longer than 2 minutes for an appointment. They always go over what something will cost you BEFORE they do a procedure. My first review was deleted so let me try this again. I had an appt to have my initial visit as well as a cleaning earlier this year. Over an our later I left with no cleaning and a treatment plan to have a deep cleaning and a recommendation to have braces to straighten my teeth. The cost would have been over $5,000. I didn't buy the fact that I needed the deep cleaning and my teeth are very straight. In fact I just returned from another dentist today and I had a regular cleaning as my gums were in great shape. Last Saturday I had an emergency when my 3 1/2 year old implant came loose. My regular dentist was closed, and I was worried about swallowing the crown. So I found BM Dental Care who was open on Saturdays and was able to work me in, and they did implants. The Dentist was DR. Colina MaGee, and when I told her what was happening, she immediately said that, if my implant was secured with a screw and was that old, that it likely had just come loose. She took an x-ray and said that was the issue. Luckily she had the right device to tighten it, and fixed it on the spot! I took advantage of the new patient special at Black Mountain Dental which included the most thorough set of x-rays I have ever had, an excellent cleaning, and an exam by the dentist. The cost was $59 which I found unbelievably reasonable. There was no high pressure sales pitch although I was told I needed extra work, (something I already knew). I dread going to the dentist. In fact I have not been in a few years but a dental issue forced me to seek a dentist out. I could not be happier with my choice .
