We ate brunch at Fork Lore. The waitress that took our order was super smiley and friendly. However, the person who served the food was not. He placed the plates in front of us randomly and when we asked what the plates were, he didn't answer. Not sure if he didn't know what they were or didn't hear us, but it happened multiple times and he would just randomly put the plates down in front of us without announcing what it was or ask who ordered what. We had to do musical chairs with the plates which felt really odd to be blatantly ignored. The Broken Yolk Sandwich was not what I was expecting. The egg was not runny despite the asterisk warning for consuming raw foods and its name. The sandwich felt heavy, especially with the mayo making it feel greasy. The avocado toast on the other hand was delightful. The two poached eggs on top had the perfect yolk that literally dripped down your hand and bread. The restaurant was very pet friendly. Whether you will like this restaurant depends on what you are looking for. As for location, it is basically a hotel lobby bar. We asked to sit behind the low open wall away from TVs and foot traffic passing through the space, and we were told a party was using the space. They were, but the group was only taking up one long table. I'm still not sure why we couldn't have been seated there. Instead, we were seated in the bar area, and I watched people walking through from the moment we sat down until we left. At one point, a worker with a leaf blower walked by and then back again. The craft cocktail was creative and delicious. The food was excellent. The server was attentive. But if I had wanted to eat in a bar, I would not have made an Open Table reservation somewhere. The soup was quite possibly the smallest serving of soup I've ever seen. My spoon could sit on the bottom and still could see the sides of the spoon. Like maybe 5 spoonfuls. It was laughable how small the serving was... had I known that I wouldn't have ordered it. However, the soup was the only thing taste wise I would choose to eat again. The kids chicken tenders were so hard the kids had trouble chewing them. The fries were hot and soft, so that was positive. The garlic aioli was basically mayo. The breakfast menu offered about a dozen of the standard breakfast options. I had a three egg vegetable and cheese omelet that came with potatoes and toast. Nice brunch spot. Not a huge menu for the non-egg eaters, but there are some options. I went with cheese grits, turkey sausage, and breakfast potatoes. Everything was yummy. The grits were cooked perfectly and seasoned so nicely. The turkey sausage was flavorful (not bland like some turkey sausage can be!) and the breakfast potatoes were seasoned lightly as well. My guy had the "Build Your Own Omelette" and pancakes. Nice portions and again they were spot on with the seasoning. My mimosa was big and not skimpy on the champagne. Had a work dinner here and it was a great setting. We had about a dozen people and they were very accommodating not seating anyone else in our area. The food was great but I thought pretty pricey for what you got. $25 for a salad with salmon and I've gotten bigger salads for half that price but this is in hotel and touristy area. Staff was ok, waiter made me and coworker feel like we were putting him out when I asked for ice when he refilled our water. They never came by while we ate and asked if we needed anything and then while we were trying to talk business after meal he kept hanging around asking about dessert. The restaurant is very good for a hotel restaurant. We went in at 8 on a Thursday night and it was quiet. The waitress and bartender were very nice. My dad and I got the trout. It was good, nicely simple, allowing the trout to take front and center. Sides were good as well. Husband had a fried chicken sandwich and after the first bite was extolling it's virtues. Wine was EXPENSIVE but the ones we had were very good. I do suggest you were long pants or bring a sweater/ sweatshirt. The a/c was on full and it was cold. Would I go here again, dunno. Wow! This gem is tucked inside the Hilton and a delicious stop for dinner before a movie at the Biltmore Regal. We met friends and within minutes we were seated (we made reservations) and had menus. Highly recommend the pimento cheese and chips appetizer as well as the peanut butter pie for dessert! The bacon cheddar black angus burger came with a generous slice of delicious cheddar and the burger was tasty! Paired it with sweet potato fries- yum! My husband and I have eaten there several times when we are in the mood for a quiet venue! The atmosphere is nice, comfortable, and our food has been good. Our last meal I had a lovely chicken pot pie that was impressive when served, delicious, hearty on a cooler afternoon and plenty to take home for a nice snack. I made a reservation there for dinner. When we arrived we were told our table was not ready yet because there were people still occupying it. They told us we could wait at the bar. Ok. There were plenty of other tables available but that particular one had 2 ladies who were long done with dinner sitting there with to go containers and no interest in leaving. Fork Lore serves some excellent Southern-inspired cuisine that's let down slightly by its glacial service. I've been here twice now: once for breakfast and once for brunch. On the first occasion I tried their Broken Yolk sandwich with potatoes. The sandwich itself was a sublime example of an egg sandwich, with particular attention paid to the perfectly-cooked bacon. The potatoes were basically just steak fries which were good but needed some more seasoning. The second visit I tried their Pork Belly Club, which is basically a club sandwich with pork belly instead of bacon (yes I know bacon is pork belly but this was not smoked or cured and sliced much thicker). The pickled onions and Lusty Monk mustard did a lot of heavy lifting in cutting the richness of the sandwich, which is easily one of the best I've had anywhere in years. If I went on food alone, it would be pretty close to five stars but on both occasions the service, while pleasant, was extremely slow. Especially on the second visit during which the dining room was mostly empty, it took almost 45 minutes for our fairly uncomplicated order to reach our table. I'll definitely continue to come here, but I'll make sure I have plenty of extra time in my day when I do. read more

Tried to go to one place for brunch but it was too long of a wait. Searched for places nearby and ended up here. Was a bit surprised to see it was in a hotel lobby when we walked in. Nontheless, we were hangry so there was no room to be picky. Would have indulged in a gas station hot dog at this point. Ok probably not. We walked in the side door after parking in the garage. Had to walk through the place to get to the hostess stand (a bit awkward). Then we waited there for a bit. Finally got seated (5-6 mins later). The server was kind and attentive after we were seated. We got some waters and noticed a game playing. The space is pretty classy and cute. Good big tvs and quite a few people for being past brunching hour. I got the breakfast sammy with over easy eggs and grits. I thought the grits were decent but nothing compared to what Asheville/the south has to offer. I took my wife on a weekend trip and this was the spot where Decided we would enjoy Easter Brunch. The servers were very kind and seemed eager for us to have a good experience. The two star review comes in regarding the communication between the kitchen and the staff. When our food arrived my wife had the correct dish. Mine was completely wrong. Mistakes can be made and I understand that but when one of the parties dishes are wrong that leaves them watching their partner eat while they wait. Our server was apologetic, and said she rang in the wrong order. Like I said... Mistakes can be made. However, when my food finally arrived, which was a "broken yolk", breakfast sandwich, the egg on it was hard scrambled. I may be wrong but a broken yolk sandwich. Sounds like one that would have an over easy egg on it that the yolk could be broken once I received it. The sandwich also boasted Biltmore dairy Farms blazing cheddar. I could hardly see any cheese on the sandwich at all when I got it. I may have chalked this up to just a bad experience and our situation, but the table next to me got their meal for free because his food was not good. The staff are very nice here but I was forgotten on the patio towards the end of my meal. I did return but decided on take away for the second meal. I ordered the crab cake sandwich with a salad and sweet potato fries on my first visit. The fries were good, the crab cake was large but the sandwich on an onion brioche was soft and there was no contrasting crunch. Toasting the inside of the bun and adding some regular or watermelon pickles or perhaps crispy onions with a different bun would help. The salad was in a small bowl with large leaves of lettuce so hard to eat. I wouldn't reorder. I also tried the cheese grits and they were runny, flavorless and the cheese wasn't melted and stirred in to the grits. Just pathetic. The second visit I ordered the steakhouse burger and it also was soft and the crispy onions were no longer crispy. Fork Lore started out my day off right three mornings in a row. The head of house is so friendly, and our server had the best attitude. The pancakes here are so delicious. They have the perfect texture, and were bursting with super sweet blueberries. The goat cheese omelet is very flavorful with a ton of goat cheese. The home potatoes are way too fried for my choice, so I subbed out fruit. My vegan BFF ate the vegan bowl, oatmeal, and avocado toast. She liked all 3 and added vegan sausage. I don't usually eat in hotel restaurants unless I'm staying in the hotel. I thought I'd pop into the Biltmore Park Hilton today for a quick lunch, maybe a salad. I wound up ordering the trout because I love trout. I was not disappointed. I also ordered braised greens and hoppin' John for sides. Beautifully prepared and truly delicious. The atmosphere is quiet and lovely and the service was excellent. The price is moderate for the quality of the food and it just plain smells good in there. Oh my, very impressed with the food. The flavors scream southern cooking. The brunch starts at 11am which you can reserve for, if needed. The shrimp and grits is definitely perfect! Things like biscuits and gravy were on the lunch menu but not the breakfast which was strange. They also put eggs on top of the biscuits and gravy which was strange.
