This is one of my favorite places in Asheville! It's not the "bougie" downtown- higher priced places. No offense, but it's like Cheers- where the drinks are cold, the food amazing and the servers are the bomb! The staff remembers you & makes you feel like you're really in your hometown - whether you are from here or not! **Side note: I am NATIVE! Meghan made sure we had everything we ask for & needed. We watched her run all night! That kids Nikes were smoking! She also was knowledgeable about the cocktails and menu & her boss should be proud of her sales talent! The group started with 2, then 3- then 5 and our stragglers made it a table of 7. We noticed several other large tables in her section, but she handled things like a champ! Karaoke night on Saturday with friends was a success, wings &!drinks came prompt to the table. Our server Meghan was attentive & timely to 8 of us at 2 tables & absolutely the BEST! I'm not only a born & raised Ashevillian, but I legit was brought home from the hospital & raised 5 mins down the road from The Social, & although I am definitely partial to this part of town & grateful they're located here, they are so awesome I would make a special trip to them if I had to! They always have some super fun stuff going on-festivals, great live music, karaoke, etc-along with pool tables and darts, and the bartenders are truly great at what they do! Jason in particular makes such a fresh and delish margaritas, & he's also just fun to sit and talk to! The FOOD too ya'll, omg their specials are always !!!!! This place has lots of character, but not the good kind. I'm not sure why it is rated 4 stars on Yelp. Mostly a locals hangout for those that enjoy watching sports on TV, playing pool, etc. We ordered a bowl of chili which had good flavor, but it wasn't hot. We also had a Chicken wrap with fries and they were good. My recommendation: Drive into Asheville for a better experience. read more

5.23.2025 Came into eat at The Social this afternoon. Sat down at an unclean table. Waitress took my drink & food order and didn't even check or wipe down the nasty table. After I ordered went to the men restroom so nasty smelling of urine all over the floor and in the flushed urinals. Yuck. The smell was unbearable I almost puked. Don't eat here... this place needs a good pressure washing on the inside with straight Clorox then 2 coats of good paint. New sink in the men's bathroom etc. food is not bad. Want be back... I live so close to here so it's an absolute delight to know that I have a neighborhood pub. Plenty of parking in a great location. It does always seem when I go in there that there is basically one person working the entire bar and all of the tables. She is super sweet, but man does she have to hustle. Last time I was here I ordered a salad and it's unfortunate that they don't have any vegetarian or fish options for those. The impossible burger is on the menu, but it tends to upset my stomach, so I don't love it. That seems to be the only real vegetarian option. Ordered a sweet tea, and they basically just gave us a glass with a match of sugar in the bottom and told us it wasn't mixed in yet lol I will say that the drink prices are pretty fair now. Maybe just stay away from Soda and na drinks. Not the cleanest place, but don't look too close. It's a pup afterall. Super fun with patrons and staff. A bit of outside seating too. I like that it's a complete neighborhood feel and it's a really nice go to spot to feel a little bit more like a local. read more

Love a great neighborhood bar!! About eight years ago I lived on the street behind The Social and would meet friends on Friday to celebrate the start of the weekend. At that time, I never really ordered any food, just enjoyed good company. Ordered carry-out lunch this week and I absolutely LOVED my meal!! Six hot buffalo wings and an order of fried mushrooms. Nothing fancy, just awesome bar food!! It was just what I wanted and what you would expect from a neighborhood joint. The menu is extensive and I'm looking forward to trying more items for lunch, always with an order of fried mushrooms! They have outdoor seating; inside has pool tables and a pretty cool area for music. Love these local places!!! read more

Typical independent bar atmosphere. My server was very pleasant and efficient and my lunch was amazing: one of the best meals I have had in quite a while. I went to this bar for the first time to play in a pool tournament for the APA. It's a nice, clean facility with plenty of seating. It's not the smallest bar in town, but definitely not the largest either. The atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming. The bar has 2 pool tables. The server/bar tender was very friendly and welcoming. I had a bad experience with my pool team captain, but that had nothing to do with the bar. I didn't order any drinks or food, so I'm unable to review that. Although the bartender did bring me an ice water, and that was refreshing. ;p The restrooms were clean. My only complaint is that I wish the 2 pool tables were a little further apart, as playing on them was a little tight. Overall, I recommend this establishment. I would be happy to return and actually have a drink in a less-stressful situation. :) read more

A great, laid back neighborhood gathering place. It has the best chicken wings in the known universe. Not super fancy, but definitely has lots of appeal for bikers and Prius drivers alike. Having said that please remove your tie before entering gentlemen, otherwise you will likely distress the genteel clientele. Thoroughly enjoyed my time at The Social on Friday night. The waitress was delightful. She had a good laugh with me as I asked for a bougie drink (a lemon drop martini). It was good. We shared a laugh as I didn't care what cup it came in, but she managed to scrounge up a martini glass. My brother and I had good eats. And the bonus was the singer that night was good. Apparently, there are different musical selections depending on the night of the week. Members of the crowd were friendly, ready to sing along, and have a good time. First time we have eaten here. Waitress Caroline was exceptional. Food was yummy and hot. Great to have a new breakfast place in Blowing Rock. I had typical breakfast - Uncle Billy Barter with three eggs, bacon and sausage. Grits and sourdough toast. My husband had a yummy omelet cooked perfectly. We will return. This place was very interesting! Had darts, pool and what looks like live music on some nights. It's almost a cross between a bar and a hang out spot! Looked like the place was full with lots of locals. I decided to try the mild wings and some sweet potato fries. Both were really tasty but I was pretty disappointed with the size of fries that I had got. I was still pretty hungry after 6 wings and some fries. The food was great but would have liked a better portion. If you want more food I would recommend getting more wings! read more

I came to this spot because I am out of town and someone suggested to go for open mic night. No one actually performed that night but I still had a great time! The music choices were so vast and I have a vast taste so I enjoyed every minute of it. The staff were attentive, but most importantly, friendly and fun! I had an LIT with a patty melt and tots, my friend had the social nachos. We shared an order of mozzarella sticks which have the marinara inside of them as well- I thought that was neat! I'm leaving two stars because the server was great and the service was wonderful. I have never left a restaurant before feeling like every single thing I ordered was thawed from the freezer. From the pretzel appetizer, to the tater tots and fries to the chicken tenders, to the dipping sauces, nothing seemed homemade and tasted very distinctly premade. We went on 79 cent wing day and even the wings were dry and tough. I use Yelp often so I was shocked to have this experience at a place that was rated at 4 stars. We sat outside and the ambiance was fine. Another customer had opted to use their car as the music and if you are a fan of Queen, which we are, then it was fine, but would've been a turnoff if not. read more

Went there today for an appetizer and a couple of beers. Great service, great appetizers and great atmosphere. Went back this evening after golf to have more beers and wings and sat there for 15 minutes and we were not even approached by anyone. Completely different staff than the lunch staff. I and a couple of friends went Saturday night for Karaoke. It was one of the most energetic and lively crowd I've ever seen at a karaoke event. We had an absolute blast singing and dancing! I definitely recommend the Social for a fun and enjoyable evening. read more

I've never actually dined in, but we have had take out here twice via Uber eats and it was a good pick. The first time I had the meatloaf with green beans and mashed potatoes. The meatloaf was delicious and the serving side was perfect. The mashed potatoes were a little too "purée" style for me (I typically like some chunks", but were still pretty good. We made the dumb mistake of ordering nachos and having them delivered. Don't do it. Not their fault, but nachos don't deliver well. They pretty much steam themselves in the box during transport and the chips arrive mushy. The second time I had the buffalo chicken wrap with fries. Not as great as the meatloaf, wished there was more sauce in the wrap. Not terrible, but would not order it again. The fries were actually really good and perfectly seasoned. We also had an order of their egg rolls and I highly recommend them, better than some I've had at local Chinese restaurants. PS- whoah!!!! Just read the other reviews and the whole group of them (almost a dozen) from one group in May 2018 claiming this place is homophobic because they denied a persons NY ID and claimed it was because he was gay. What a crazy lie! When I moved here with an out of state ID (Massachusetts) it was denied at half of the bars in Asheville! It had nothing to do with sexuality and Asheville would honestly be the last place that a homophobic establishment would exist. It is awful that yelp has allowed these defaming/slanderous reviews to remain up. read more

Had a chance to stop in at The Social while i was out on the east side of Tunnel Rd and I was quite impressed. It's rare that I make it to this side of town, and I had seen it a few times, but today I was in the right spot at a famished time. The place looks fairly nondescript from the outside, but I was pleased to find a lively interior immediately upon entering. It was 3 pm on a Saturday afternoon and bar was buzzing. People playing pool on the two billiards tables by the front, and friends watching sports games on the multitude of TV's around the space. It's a standard burger and a beer kind of place. Large open interior, with a little stage in the back and a pretty decent sound system that I assume they use for local bands and such. Overall the space is extremely comfortable. I felt welcome as soon as I stepped through the door. I checked with the bartenders to see if I should order at the bar or if they offered table service. They were kind enough to allow me to sit down and wait on me at a table of my choosing. That's a nice style of service. I got myself situated and found a table with a power outlet so I could charge my laptop while working. Mike the bartender approached me with a menu and a water and the first words were to give me the Wifi password. Dude. Classy. I ordered a burger so that I can add this space to my list of top burgers in Asheville, and Murphy's Irish Stout to wash it down. Mike took his time with the pouring of my beer, and if you refer to my earlier reviews you will know how much I appreciate a slowly poured stout. Another check mark in the awesome service column. My food arrived quickly. The burger was well dressed, really fresh ingredients. The tomatoes were freshly sliced, and a nice leaf of romaine lettuce to boot, rather than shredded iceberg or whatever. I was pleased, and the burger was better than okay. It wasn't a "I've got to bring all my friends to try this burger," kind of burger... but it was a damn solid burger, and under $10 as well. Nice. After my first few bites I began to plan take notes for this review. I really felt like the place was a solid 4 stars, but the service was just great. I made a promise to myself that if Mike checked back in on me twice through out the meal without any prompting, I'd have to give the place 5 stars based on the exemplary service. Why? Because Mike was the bartender on duty, not a server. For him to walk out from behind the bar and over to my table to check on me would be an indication of care and great service. Three minutes into my meal, low and behold Mike was there. Just a quick "Everything good?" Cool. Next he noticed that I was watching the game that was being projected on the wall and asked if I wanted him to turn on the sound. I didn't, but hey... Mike's paying attention. And then.... a few bites away from finishing my meal Mike was back again, just to check if I needed another beer. Bam. 5 stars. I was impressed. I'd be happy to check out more of the menu here. The burger was solid, but the service at this watering hole is really what set it apart from similar burger and a beer spots. I noticed they have Karaoke the greater majority of the week. I think I may have an excuse to drive out and visit The Social again in the not so distant future. read more

Why 5 stars? Because this was one of my favorite Browns Backers bars I've ever been to. --- --- --- Yes, I'm stupid. I root for the Cleveland Browns. And wherever I find myself on a given Sunday afternoon in the fall, I'm usually a short distance away from a Cleveland Browns Backers bar. The opening game of the 2015 season was my first time visiting The Social, and it was basically a flawless experience. These are all things I look for in a place to watch football, and all of which were found at the Social: -The projection screen was huge, clear, and not obstructed. -The audio was also heard loud and clear. -The room was dark, which increased the clarity of the projector even more. -This one is going to be Browns Backer bar specific: Yes, there is a mic and a sound system, but the people only spoke at halftime, and didn't obnoxiously yell at us on every time out. This sadly happens far too often. -The food was surprisingly delicious. I had the Chipotle Fried Pickle Burger, and I absolutely loved it. -The servers come around often enough to not make you think you've been forgotten, but not too often... because you're there to watch a football game, not remind them that, "yes, I would like more diet." -Bonus note on the servers: the turnout of Browns fans was twice as much as they expected, and though they apologized for being overwhelmed, no one would have noticed otherwise. Superstar servers and kitchen folks work here. The Browns got absolutely embarrassed on this day, but that didn't take away from my affection of The Social. I'll be happy to return if my next trip to Asheville coincides with a Browns game. read more
