They had great drink prices -- Jameson and ginger doubles, yes please! The bartender was friendly and attentive. The crowd was laid back. The dollar bills on ceiling are the typical fun touch as well as the dart boards and other games available, with a nice outside deck. But those two musicians saying that people who say, "Cool beans" are weird while thanking the lord... no thanks. No thanks. I'll come back when they're not there.

At the time we didn't realize that Roberta Flack was born in Black Mountain and the mural on the side of the historic building was in fact Roberta! When you step inside it is cozy and comfortable but we could see there was a large outdoor space as well. I stopped in at the counter and decided to order a pint of their Hazy IPA. We wandered to the outdoor space which is two levels, we explored the upstairs area first since there was a thunderstorm we thought it would be cool to watch the rain and lightning while sipping on a cold beer. We also learned there was a food trailer at the back of the property, which looks to be a permanent resident. They offer items such as pulled pork, poutine, brisket, and more. We ended up chatting with other customers and had a really enjoyable afternoon. We enjoyed our time at Black Mountain Brewing and will absolutely be back!

The first cool thing about this brewery is that it taught me that Roberta was from NC, which I did not know. So, we decided to go and immediately it took be back to the golden era of small breweries. I loved the atmosphere here, again it took me back to when craft beer was a community, and not an industry as it is today. I had a flight with the steam beer, pale ale, West Coast IPA, and barleywine. Everything was on point and very well made. My friend had the American Lager and we also tried the Czech-style lager, which ended up being my favorite. A huge plus and thank you to our bartender who brought us delicious, in-house freshly-made pork rinds! If I lived in the area, this would be my Cheers.

At the brewery, you order at the bar and pick your own seat. They have an ample beer and food selection. They also have a small selection of non-alcoholic beverages. They are dog friendly. Hillman brewery has tons of seating and has a lovely outdoor patio along the creek that runs next to the brewery. I had their kombucha and my husband had their beer. We both enjoyed our drinks. We shared their 'Soft Pretzel' appetizer with mustard and it was delicious! This is such a great place to come out and hang with friends and family!

We were greeted by every single one with a smile and happy energy, despite how busy the place was. There are so many times when you sit at a bar unnoticed and patiently wait for someone to look your way, but this was the opposite of that. Our drinks were ice cold and served super fast. We didn't try any food, but they do have a small menu of bar bites that sounded really good. My cider was crisp, and not too sweet. It seemed to be "the spot", because there were lots of people but we didn't have any trouble finding seating. Lots of people had their dogs with them, which is always a plus!!
