They have both early morning, late morning, afternoon and evening classes which work well with my schedule. I've been exclusively doing their "SweatFit" class which is a combo of cardio and strength and will kick your butt. All of the trainers I've met so far are fantastic. They are motivating (which I desperately need), enthusiastic but most importantly they care about making sure you have great form and are pushing yourself to do better. Granted, it gets a little crowded as people come straight from work, but I usually work out after dinner or early in the morning, and I almost never have to wait for the equipment that's in my plan for that day. The only small change I'd recommend is a new playlist, since the current one seems to favor screaming (not singing) rockers. I've compared this with some of the other options, but because I value easy access to free weights, some of the other low-cost competitors weren't the right fit. So I'm very happy.

The daily workouts designed by Robert range from strength training to mobility challenges to cardio and are never the same twice. The small group format provides a sense of camaraderie while still allowing for you to modify the exercises to your ability and get individual coaching from Robert throughout. It's so cool to have a group of 5-10 adults training together who range from cross-fitters and marathon runners to people recovering from an injury or just starting their fitness journey, all challenging ourselves with the "same" exercises - I'm in my 30s and have been going 3 days a week with my mom who is in her 60s as we both work to look and feel our best at my wedding this summer. Robert also gave us a straightforward nutrition plan, with which I've already lost 6 inches around my waist, arms, and legs! I think the best part, though, is that you can truly tell that Robert LOVES what he does and cares about helping to support the goals of every person who walks through the doors. Several days ago I called about my account charge and was told someone would call me back. They…read morenever did. So I called to cancel and they told me I had to email with a certain number. After emailing someone for help they told me I was charged $60 for a yearly enhancement fee. I absolutely positively was not verbally told about that fee at sign up. I would have never signed up if that was the case. Hiding that in a contract is absolutely insane. When I asked for my contract they told me I need to call my club to get that. I call the club and a dude tells me he would be happy to send me my contract. But he ultimately put me on hold for several minutes until a rude man answered. New guy scoffed and made me explain the entire situation AGAIN. He begrudgingly agrees to send me the contract. When I asked when I will receive the email he says "I don't know. I hope right away but you never know. Ciao." It's a loop of corporate saying call your gym for agreement and gym refusing to give it to you. After getting zero help from crystal lake I got an email from corporate saying "Your account has been set to cancel with nothing further due. You will have club access until 5/14/2026. I apologize but we are unable to waive any scheduled payments." Well guess what as of 4/28/26 I have a NEW $64 charge. Per email "We have received your email. Upon review, the $64.99 charge consists of a late fee dated 02/22/2026 and your monthly due of $34.99 from 04/15/2026." I had canceled my credit card and was in the process of moving my subscriptions to new card. This company is a scam and I am hopeful to be a part of a massive lawsuit one of these days. You can't get away with such predatory behavior forever. Karma will eventually catch up.

For the price, you get everything that the local "big gym" has, except the swimming pool. The locker rooms are large with private showers. There is a separate workout area for women only. They have trainers and classes, and even a smoothie bar. The movie theater is a nice unique feature, though I've never used it. Really the only complaint... my 11-year-old is not a fan of the kids care area. She tends to be more introverted and would love to just sit and do her own thing. Apparently it's hard to do that there. And with any gym, there's also the registration fees, maintenance fees, and annual membership if you want the lowest rate... but I think overall it is worth it for the basic tier.

Picture a 330 lb. man who has been an Allstate athlete about 15 years ago... that's me! I was a little wary when I decided to see how it would work out (pun intended). The coaches were and are some of my favorite people in the world. They base the intensity of the WOD to what you need individually. Modification is key and they are absolute experts at it. I am now addicted to cross fit and will be here for the long term. I've not just lost weight (8 weeks in down 15 lbs) but have started replacing it with muscle which is not helping me to burn even more fat! Can't recommend it enough.

But CFCL "raises the bar" above and beyond the others. The owner, Joe, has always been absolutely awesome to work with and it shows. He not only believes highly in his gym, but his community as well. The coaches, Joe, Jesse, Ryan and Troy are the ones I've worked with so far and are above and beyond the gold standard of coaches/mentors/trainers. They bring a lot to the table and their instruction is easy to understand and will work with you on anything you may or may not be comfortable with. This gym is next level and absolutely worth giving a shot. They have an amazing community, exceptional trainers, and you always get a workout you'll be proud of. As a "definitely needs work" 43 year old, I was a little skeptical about this style of workout, and concerned about working out with such exceptional athletes. After your first session you'll at CFCL you'll understand why the Crossfit community is crazy awesome. The folks their are extremely welcoming and supportive of anyone on any fitness level. Give this place a shot. You won't regret it.
