After enjoying hiking in the area we came here and enjoyed the pulled pork poutine, wiener schnitzel and beers! While their IPA was pretty average, the strawberry rhubarb brew was great! The schnitzel was nicely prepared with a side salad that was tasty and a decent mustard. The poutine fries were nicely done and fresh, but IMO, there was a bit too much gravy and not enough cheese curds on the poutine. That didn't stop us from devouring the whole thing though, it definitely was not bad. Ambience is chill with music playing at a lower volume. Mostly couples and small, chill groups in the spot. There was one small group with a baby but the baby was not overly loud or disruptive. Outdoor seating is available but we opted to be inside with the AC. Bartender seemed to be the only employee working both the tables and the bar and a little overwhelmed, so service was a bit slow. Went here on a whim to attend the book fair hosted by a local bookstore here in their event space. I cant lie this book fair was pretty lackluster and overpriced, so we decided to grab food and drinks since we were already there anyways. The brewery was very busy and the line was long, with slower wait times, but the food and drinks were worth it. The buffalo chicken tenders were great quality, not overly spicy or salty, and came with a chunky, house-made blue cheese dressing. The bacon cheesy fries were a standout. The beer cheese was perfectly smooth and flavorful, topped with crumbled bacon and thinly sliced purple onion, which was surprisingly really good. I also tried the pomegranate Down East cider, a flavor I hadn't seen anywhere else, and it was my favorite I've had so far. Atmosphere was decent but on the smaller side. Visited on 12/15/24. I settled on Black Pond while trying to find a halfway location to meetup at with someone. The Atmosphere was casual and pleasant, although possibly a touch cold. The staff was friendly, but seemed slightly distracted (I think there was a private event going on, and a big event the prior evening as well, so I'm not holding it against anyone). I tried "Hairball of the Cat," their take on an Adamsbiet, which was very tasty,; my companion has allergies to ingredients in beer, so the good cider selection was appreciated! The fries were good; nothing special, but nothing to complain about yet. The pretzel bites had good flavor, but were pretty dry; additionally, the "sweet mustard butter" that was served alongside was hard and un-dippable (slightly disappointing, with the $2 upcharge to try both sauces). I'd definitely return and try some other things (maybe on a Friday or Saturday, when the kitchen is more in it's groove, due to steady business). We were very impressed with this brewery! My wife and I both went with flights and all eight beers were solid and flavorful! Their NEIPA options were my favorite with a very interesting and unique double NEIPA which I've never seen anywhere else. And a spicy saison which was delicious! The bartender was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, I ended up getting a bourbon I've been wanting to try and we had a great conversation about different whiskies! Sweet spot. My in-laws live about a mile from this place and I was thrilled to visit it with my nephew and Father in-law (at Father in-law's suggestion). The inside isn't huge but on a rainy Saturday afternoon we easily found a table. We ordered an October Fest, the Dropkick Kitty which was an Irish stout and I had an excellent IPA called "that Hyphy beer" described as follows: West Coast IPA. Aggressively hopped, crisp, citrusy, and piney. Featuring Simcoe, Centennial, Cascade, and Bravo hops. I really liked this one. I'm drawn to what I (and I'm sure others) call, a mouth-punch, for an IPA. I want bitter and when I see "aggressively hopped", I'm in. My nephew and FIL both liked it a lot, even though they're generally not IPA fans. The bar staff (one smiling, welcoming person) was great and inviting. I want to stress that this is a small town joint and I felt comfortable, which is really nice. The other patrons were super chill and welcoming too. They have food, which is awesome. Pretzel bites with beer cheese and/or mustard butter (though they should give way more dipping sauce) and pizza, burgers, Weinerschnitzel, fettuccini Alfredo, birria tacos, salads!!!! It's in the middle of nowhere, the parking isn't great, it's busy, it's loud...but none of that matters cause everything else is so good! This brewery has everything you'd ever want: great beer, great food, and a rotating bourbon selection. Seriously, who knew I would find bottles of bourbon at a small brewery that I couldn't even find on store shelves?? Amazing. And the food! Not your typical cheap and frozen fare. This stuff was made with love. The Birria smash burger is seriously still on my mind - so flavorful!! When I asked the bartender if there was any music he told me there was a jukebox that I could download an app and put in my credit card to play due to music rights he wasn't allowed to play music any other way. Out visiting family and headed out to sample the local beverages. Got here just as they opened. Very friendly staff and got served immediately. I tried the Machu Picchu - a jalapeño saison. Very good flavor and definitely a jalapeño aroma. After that tried the Hoppy Kitty and the Fully Stoked, a black IPA and a coffee brown ale. Both were very good. We came here ages ago when they were in a much smaller spot. I was so happy to see they had expanded and added food to their menu! I'm going to be honest and say there is not a heck of a lot to do in western RI/eastern CT, so when a cool space like this opens up, it's a real treat. We've only been here in the winter, so we haven't had a chance to use the outdoor space yet, but they have some picnic tables and cornhole which will make for a great summer hangout spot. Inside, it's small but well-managed. You order your drinks and food at the bar then pick-up at the window. The pretzel bites are amazing. Deep fried and buttery and served with honey mustard butter or beer cheese, but do yourself a favor and get both. Compared to many of the breweries I've been to, Black Pond Brews is a more intimate space. They had an excellent menu with some unique choices, particularly the Wiener schnitzel! We sat next to the window as we waited for our food, and I couldn't help but notice the selection of games available, which is always a nice touch at a brewery. My fiancé enjoyed his beer ("Moves", their flagship IPA), and we were definitely impressed by the soft pretzel bites and flavorful pork cutlets. I was a little sad that the pretzels didn't come with a beer cheese, but the mustard butter was good! Their gravy on both the poutine and on the side of the wiener schnitzel was phenomenal. We have been here many times and love the beer, particularly Machu Picchu which is one of my favorites anywhere. However, at least 5 different cans(some were Mr. Kitty) we have bought at different times has been under filled (flimsy feeling) and/or not sealed properly, which you figure out later. They look okay when you buy them, although we haven't tried squeezing each can before purchasing it. We thought the first one was a fluke. We have never had this happen with any of the other hundreds of cans we have bought at similar breweries, and storage is the same in the same fridge. We brought one back, a 40 minute ride, but doing that each time we find one isn't sustainable nor a great idea these days. If you open the can, it's flat and seems short. I emailed them and got zero response regarding this, so we won't be returning. Disappointing quality control and customer service. I'll miss this stuff. read more

Visited Black Pond Brews this past weekend during a wedding weekend. Laid back pub atmosphere. Great craft brew! There wasn't a beer I didn't like. Easy drinking Pub Ale, and Hellas light were favorites. Birras Tacos, best taco I have ever eaten, hands down! The shredded beef was tender and overstuffed the tacos, adobe sauce was amazing. Well done to the chefs. All the staff and bartenders were awesome, especially Amanda. We were in the area and luckily they are one of the few breweries open on mondays. Cool brewery , the beers are quality and delicious. We prefer ipa's and they had a few excellent ones. Razor Blades and Moves. Super friendly and I learned a few things while there. We loved the character of the space and will definitely make a trip back. Since my children have been to more breweries and vineyards than most grownups, we felt it only natural to visit Black Pond with them when it showed up on our radar. They did NOT disappoint! I had a flight and my husband and I were both huge fans of Hold My Juice Box NE IPA. The space is like most new breweries which have popped up lately, spacious, plain, clean, and basically a blank slate. I definitely appreciated the decor in the restrooms with throwbacks to 90's bands on the walls. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and were very kind and accommodating with us having our two and six year old kids in tow and gave us special glasses for their local soda. As for food, we ordered a flatbread and French fries, which were both perfect. Everything we saw come up on the "arrival window" looked fresh and delicious. My husband has since visited to pick up and growler, which is a great deal and we will definitely be visiting regularly. read more

Quite a little hole in the wall. And I don't mean little to be funny..it's literally SMALL inside..lol..you can fit maybe 40 people in there, which is cool though. Keeps it intimate and cozy. Nice set up for tasting flights how the taps come out of the walls vs in front of the guys, growler fills are welcome too. It's tough to really rate Black Pond Brews since they are still such a work in progress but if you're ever in the Quiet Corner I'd definitely recommend checking them out. I made the trip to visit them on a recent Sunday from RI. It was a haul to Danielson & my GPS put me around in circles until I found the brewery sign pointing to the basement of a bicycle shop. Black Pond Brews is a 2 man operation & definitely the smallest brewery in CT. They don't have a tap room per se but the brewers have no problems giving out samples. I wasn't the only one there that day as a group came in right behind me. I see lots of potential as I did like the beers I tasted. Their dark Belgian reminded me a lot of another CT nano (Relic) but I was a little disappointed they didn't have their signature Razorblades IPA or Machu Picchu jalapeno IPA. read more

I really enjoyed this brewery! And I will definitely be back. I would have rated them four stars due to size, it's super tiny in there, but it wasn't too much of an issue so I won't knock them for it. It wasn't very crowded at the time we went, however It did start to feel a little cramped as more patrons came in. We brought a pizza with us from the NY Pizza place across the way, and had a wonderful beer/pizza lunch. They allowed our 3 month old puppy in with us too, which was super cool of them! They told me they are dog friendly in advance, and they do have a brewery cat which was no issue for our dog. But I can't picture a large number of people bringing their dogs in without it getting chaotic. I tried an IPA and a black IPA, and the black IPA was my very favorite. This brewery does it right. Great atmosphere, interesting and intriguing artwork on the walls. Playing Beck at the perfect volume sound system for goodness sakes! Even the bathroom was great. The waitstaff was super friendly, welcoming and helpful. And the beer! So interesting, and risky, seems the effort and stress of brewing has definitely paid off. What an awesome place. We held my mother's retirement party here. Cory, Luke, and Tristan were awesome to work with. The food and drinks were delicious. A great variety of drinks for all from the Pond Water Seltzers to the beer to the wine. They made the biggest charcuterie board I've ever seen! The pizza, pretzel bites and pulled pork sliders were all amazing too! The staff on duty were all so friendly and willing to help. Their outdoor seating area is so pretty in the afternoon and evening and we loved the addition of the corn hole game. We will definitely be back again soon! read more

Love this place! It is small but it's cozy and comfortable. The owners are extremely friendly and knowledgeable about beer. I'm no expert and I didn't feel intimidated to ask them questions about what's on tap. I was going to buy a growler and did a free tasting. I liked all the beers but the Jalapeño Saison was my #1.
