On my way to the Sedona's Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village, I discovered Black Potion. The large words Coffee and Crystals on the building was exactly enough to get me to stop off. This is the cutest coffee shop. It's a modern design with cool comfy vibes. They sell all types of crystals and jewelry in a boutique storefront and toward the back is the cafe. It has a small seating area that is ideal to kick back for a little while. The baristas are very nice and cheerful. I will say they offer one of the best Brazilian coffee beans. The barista who made my drink happened to be from my home city and very knowledgeable. I loved the latte! It was smooth and bold without any bitterness. The perfect pick me up before a day of Sedona exploration. I highly recommend anyone visiting Sedona to stop in! There's a tiny parking lot but I arrived early so I didn't have parking issues. read more

This review was written years ago but was apparently removed from Yelp - I guess they paid the cartel to have it removed. It was still on Google Maps Reviews, so I am copy/pasting it back as a new review. AVOID THIS BUSINESS! This business willfully, blatantly, and irresponsibly violates county, state, and federal health codes for food establishments. This was independently verified and confirmed by the Coconino County Health Department. The people working at the counter refused to address the problem. There was no manager on-site. Presumably, they knew what they were doing was wrong and egregiously disgusting, because they must have taken a food handler's course in order to work there, right? But, they argued and said they were correct and doing nothing wrong. Remember, the health department verified that they WERE wrong! They do not seem to care at all about the health and safety of their customers, nor the cleanliness of their establishment. All of the employees need to be retrained on food safety and customer service. It is very sad when your customers know the regulations better than the employees, and it is even sadder that they just don't care. read more

On 11/12/22, I was looking to trying out this place. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with my visit to Black Potion. For a place that charges premium Sedona prices ($6-$8+ per drink), I expected a much higher quality experience, but both the drinks tasted terrible and service was horrible. The service was incredibly slow and unprofessional. It seemed like they were understaffed, and the person behind the counter was inattentive and clearly didn't want to be there. As for the drinks, they were honestly undrinkable--the flavors were way off, and the temperature was completely inconsistent. I've had better coffee at other locations as well. Between the bad attitude from the staff and the poor quality of the beverages, I won't be coming back to this one! Such a vibey coffee shop in the heart of Sedona! They serve Brazilian coffee and were founded by a Brazilian woman which is what drew me in. I love Peixoto coffee and I can't think of anywhere else in Sedonq that serves Peixoto. True to their name they also offer readings and a beautiful selection of crystals and spiritual items. The man working today was truly one of the kindest baristas I've ever encountered. He was so polite and his voice made him sound like he could work on the radio it was so soothing. Really wanted to love this place. It's super cute inside, but unfortunately the coffee just did not have much flavor and for the price, I was expecting to be wowed. Not to mention it had all 4 of us who ordered different coffee drinks running to the restroom several times within a few hours. Black Potion catches your eye because the shop is conveniently located along the many roundabouts that dot Sedona. I ordered the lavender latte. Coffee was okay, but I wish the lavender had a more forward facing flavor profile. Sure, there's a thin line between floral and soap with a latte like this, but it could benefit from more to taste like what's advertised instead of a latte with some type of nondescript flavoring. What's I imagine is the main act here is the crystal shop, aura photos, and psychic readings. I purchased from their crystal shop, which had a large variety and was well priced, but I can't speak to the other aspects of this business. This is a cafe and healing store. The cafe portion serves various coffees/lattes/teas and bakery items. The healing portion sells crystals/oils, etc and gives readings, healings, and aura photography. We ordered the Smoked Praline Latte (iced $7.00). It tastes a little like salted caramel. It tasted refreshingly good. The customer service was good. There is very limited indoor seating, only two tables seating four. There is self-serve water. I also spoke to a different person dealing with the non-food side at a different counter. She nicely explained how Sedona became synonymous with spiritual healing. I also scanned through about a book describing energy vortex; there are four in Sedona. It turns out we have been to two and very near one other! There is no free WiFi. The cafe is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms, both of which are wheelchair accessible. All I saw was the Coffee and Crystals sign and looked no further. I LOVE Sedona and the drive to Black Potion was so beautiful. The beautiful set up inside catches your eye right away as you make your way to order a coffee. I skimmed through the menu, already knowing I was going to order my go-to iced americano, anyway. Only two shots went in the 16oz so I requested a third, and the barista kindly asked if I'd like to throw in the spare fourth shot so it doesn't go to waste. YES PLEASE. A very happy customer in front of me who was praising the barista for his drink also suggested to me I make it an iced maple latte like his, since he requested four shots and it paired well with the maple sweetness. The team effort paid off and I received a delicious quad shot maple iced americano. The barista was so helpful in answering all my questions, as Black Potion also does readings, and aura photos as well. Which I had not heard of before but they look interesting. I stopped in Black Potion as I was leaving Sedona for coffee and an aura photo reading. It's a nice cozy shop, I think I may have come after the usual rush and didn't have much of a wait. I had the honey cinnamon latte and it was quite tasty, would definitely order again. They also have a decent selection of crystals and other metaphysical products, which is nice to browse while waiting on your drink. I also had an aura photo reading while I waited. Not totally sure, but I think you have to schedule for the readings but I was able to get one on the spot. It was very insightful and the reading really confirmed what was recently revealed at a separate reading elsewhere. The aura photo readings are definitely worth your time. Will definitely continue to visit Black Potion during my visits to Sedona. read more

Really great coffee and ambiance here. Hard to explain the vibe, but it was like a typical Sedona metaphysical/crystal shop that also served coffee, lol. Not really a sit-down place, though. The coffee options were creative and delicious and the barista was friendly. I had the Madagascar vanilla latte with oat milk, and my mom had the eggnog. We both enjoyed our drinks, but note that the prices definitely reflect the higher quality. We also enjoyed browsing the crystals but they seemed a tad overpriced for what they were. Still, the products were more unique than what you would find at a lot of similar shops in Sedona, so that's a plus. This is a must stop on your way out and need a quick bite. We were heading out to hike this day when we stopped to grab a latte and muffin. And the muffins are no way compared to the hotel one we got the other day. It was so much better! We tried the pistachio and lemon poppy seed. Yum! The coffee here is the best I've had in Sedona to date. They use Peixoto beans and the drinks are well made and delicious. This is also a really clean and welcoming spot and our barista was really kind. We had a delicious bran muffin as well, very fresh and well made. The only reason for 4 starts is this place is a bit pricer than others I've visited. A $6 muffin felt steep and the drinks, while delicious, were close to $7 each with half ice in the cup (even accounting for this being a touristy area, this still felt expensive). If the portions/prices were a bit more reasonable, this would absolutely be a 5 star experience. read more

I have found a few very nice and reasonably priced rings here. I also bought a really cute alien necklace made by a local artist. They feature a lot of good artists in their shop. I also got a psychic reading here and it was a good experience. Other psychics I've been to will keep trying to convince me I'm going to find a relationship, which I'm not interested in, but this psychic didn't do that. She gave me an accurate reading on my social life and gave me some Sage advice about what I should do and where I should live. I'm still considering her perspective so we shall see. I've not tried their coffee as I'm not really a coffee person. I just enjoy the vibe of the shop and the staff are very kind nice people. read more

The coffee is just the right mixture of sweet, nutty and espresso. We tried the smoked praline latte with oat milk which was phenomenal. However, all of the syrups are tasty.
