My personal favorite was the zucchini fries--we actually got the last order, so that felt like a win! Other standouts were the waffle, the chicken and waffle, and the sliders. I wasn't a big fan of the wings, and the ambiance leans more bar-style than cozy, but the service was quick, they easily accommodated our party of seven, and our server was super nice. So after the first few minutes of the only person working on there kinda giving an attitude we ordered and things were def on the upswing after that. She seemed a tad overwhelmed but once the loud people left things settled down. We ordered quite a few things to try. The gator, the Mac and cheese bites, the mushroom Brie soup, I got 3 slider options I ordered the Wagyu bacon jam, the chicken fig Brie and the waffle and fried chicken. I found myself again downtown, but this time on a Tuesday evening. Recently the Black Sheep started offering $3.50 taco Tuesdays, (All day)which are made using Adena Farms ground beef. That is well seasoned. They are topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese, and of course sour cream on a warmed flour tortilla. KB (bartender) again guided me through the specials that also include Modelo drafts for $3, and $6 Milagros tequila Margaritas. Been coming to this restaurant almost a year with a group of friends. We come for the exceptional food and wings. Service has never really been so great. In fact a few times we have had to chase down someone at the end of the bar to order something. For the first time ever in my life tonight I was told I could not have a box for the wings I did not eat. What??? When do you go to a restaurant and get told you can't take your leftovers home? We ordered 30 wings but because they are on a promotion I can't take any home. If I'm paying for them then they're mine. You want them don't charge me for them. Simple as that. We arrived to the hotel in Ocala very late, and I had previously looked up a few places that were open late. As you can imagine, Ocala is a small town where everything is closed by 9 p.m. however, lucky enough, this bar was open. We were starving, so we drove there. To be honest, I was not expecting much, just to have something to ear at 10.30 p.m. It was to my great surprise that we had the best burger ever and the best seafood mac and cheese in town. The bartender was super friendly; there was only a group of people and one person at the var. Other than that, it was just us. The bartender got us our drinks and talked to the chef so we can have the meals. It was right out, and both plates had a nice twist in the ingredients. The sliders alone has a bunch of choices. The setup inside is great as well. Big bar, lots of tables, Golden Tee, dart board and my favorite is the front windows. Just came in to use the ATM when an incredibly rude woman approached us. We were told it was a private event and while we understood that, we just needed to use the ATM and would leave. There was a person out front who said we could use it and leave, and that was the plan. This is a tough one: on one hand, the food was fabulous, on the other hand, the service could have been much better. I guess I would have to give the food five stars. I had a mushroom and brea soup that was a savory delight beyond compare. Seriously, this Black Sheep gem was some of the best mushroom soup that I've ever had. I also had a tuna sashimi appetizer that equally yummy. However, as good as the food was, some of the wait staff seemed a bit distracted. It took five minutes before someone took our order, and at times we wondered if we had been relegated to restaurant limbo. Still when the service did happen it was pleasant enough, so I'd have to go three stars on the service with a total average of four stars. Continuing the streak of food in Ocala being mostly utter swill, I tried Black Sheep on Broadway. The first time the Grouper Reuben was fantastic, only a few minor complaints - the street corn was over cooked, the side salad was tiny (for $5) and the side of pasta salad wasn't too spry. But the Grouper Reuben made up for it. Not so this time. Nothing could make up for this embarrassing mess they sent. This time the grouper on the sandwich was half the size it had been previously. It was the size of a filet-o-fish patty! I had to play "try to find the coleslaw" on it and the big bread just swallowed it all - no fish, all bread in nearly every bite. ($13) The French Fries are some abomination called "scoop" fries which I guess means, "greasy slices of potato that aren't seasoned and taste like motor oil smells". The crab cakes ($12) are listed on the menu as containing "lump crab" but the crab cakes that arrived were clearly made of some kind of canned cat food variety of crab, tiny bits, mushed together, all filler crab cakes with no "roasted vegetables" present as was listed in the menu. To top it off each crab cake was summarily burned black on each side and cold mush in the center. Even the cat refused to eat these, so it must have been cheap cat food crab that didn't meet her standards. The mozzarella sticks were clearly out of a box, frozen and barely cooked so the cheese was ice-cold. These were $8. I can get them at Publix for half that price and I know when I'm cooking them at least they will be prepared right. I tried to imagine what would ever allow a person making this food to think it was perfectly fine to send out burnt, mushy cat food crab cakes and ice-cold from frozen mozzarella sticks? Did they have bitterness in their heart? Or was it an inside job whereby they hoped to destroy the gastropub Black Sheep on Broadway, one crappy dish at a time? A few suggestions: unless your crab cakes are made from jumbo lump crab meat, you've got no business selling two small ones for $12. Serve real French Fries. And season them. Don't serve frozen food. It's insulting to you and to your guests. Never, ever send out burnt to a crisp food. Isn't that like, day one in restaurant school? And seriously, take a long, hard look at who is cooking your food as they may be trying to ruin you. read more

Finding myslef a bit hungry while driving around Ocala, I lused Yekp to findf a good restaurant that would give me a nice meal to hit the hungry spot in my belly. I decided to get wings. Black Sheep on Braidway sounds like a really cool name for a restaurant, so I was disappoimted, when they only got two things right. All I wanted was wings and french fries! There were less than ten people in the whole place, so I did not anticipate any snafus. Here is the list that they can improve on: -I ordered fries, and did not get them(even though I mentioned it twice) -the Buffalo wings were flavorless with a hint of orangish color, as if they were soaked in sauce, THEN FRIED! There was no sauce on my Buffalo wings!!! -The parmasean/garlic wings were not coated with shredded parm, but glops of a cheese that looked like mozzarella (see photo) -I only got two stalks of celery that were place UNDER the wings, so they were noce and hot. -I ordered bleu cheese dressing, but I was not sure it was bleu cheese, until I found a small chunk, when I was almost finished -There were no napkins or wet-wipes in my bag -Nobody in the whole place was wearing a mask! I really love the name, and they probably have other food that is made well. This day, with this customer, was not their best! read more

I read good reviews about this place and we decided to give it a chance. I was number one on the reviews. They must have got a bunch of friends to write good reviews. I have never been more dissatisfied in a place in my life! It is a small place with uncomfortable seating. They have a band on Saturday nights, which was way to loud for this small place. The band was just OK. I ordered the wings and a side salad. Along with the wings came blue cheese dressing if you want to call it that. The wings were jumbo sized, which I do not like, I like pigeon sized. The put the wings down in a basket and then dumped the sauce in hit or miss. Mostly miss, I hate having to scrape the sauce off the bottom and roll it. The Caesar salad was horrible as was the dressing. Then there was the server. She was horrible. When it was time to leave, I had to hunt her down to get my bill. I gave her my card with the bill, then she stops to chat with some customers. I had enough and walked over to told her to ring me up, which she took her sweet time. My buddy got the wings and onion rings, which also were not good. He left $1.75 tip, while I left a dollar! We brought a doggie bag back and the dog would not eat mine! If it was not a crime, I would have just walked out of the place and not paid my bill. read more

This establishment has become my favorite bar in Ocala not just because they stock great beer and liquors but because the food is delicious and consistently good. My personal favorite is the Broadway Burger. The sheep Pile is a close second. The ownership and staff are friendly and very accommodating. The owners are also committed to the local community.
