The coffee is strong and smooth (exactly what you want) and they're great about recommendations if you're unsure what to try. The shop feels energetic but still comfortable enough to sit and relax. What I appreciate most is that this is a veteran-owned company that actively gives back to the local community. Earlier this year we purchased coffee beans for the 250th Navy birthday and they are more than happy to grind your beans for you. Yesterday I ordered my go to large half sweet Liberty Bell latte. I appreciate that they are able to make this accommodation to my drink of choice. While meeting my Saturday morning coffee group I was offered samples of their Irish Crème coffee as well as their red velvet cake. I love Pumpkin season. Decided to get the smashed pumpkin with oat milk and it was delicious ! They have either oat milk or almond milk for dairy free options. I got decaf because it was midday but the coffee was still nice and strong and I even let it sit awhile before finishing. My son got the vanilla draft latte but had to add sugar. I really liked the Ambiance of this place. They have luxurious sofas to sit back and relax. Can never find that anymore. It's all modern hard backed seating. Went in today on 06/12/26 at around 7:50 There was no other customers in line aside from myself. Took about 3 min to get acknowledge as one employee was making a coffee & the other was idk.. as I couldn't see her very well. During my birthday week, my husband and I came in to this side of town to try some different barbecue places, and what else do I love as much as barbecue? Fun drinks, that's what. He found a place to go to which is different from the norm, which happened to be this coffee place. Did I feel weird walking in here wearing a hijab in all my non-whiteness? Kind of! Did I also walk in with a giant rainbow umbrella and a toddler to a coffee shop? Definitely! Was it raining outside? Yep, but no one asked so I didn't tell. (See what I did there?) I loved the military theme because I grew up watching reruns of M*A*S*H. It wasn't Hawkeye who took our order, but a man who, by all other descriptions, could be intimidating to a normal person with his large tattoos and even larger muscles. I don't like to comment on people's physical appearance, but this is a compliment and more than that--he was totally on theme with this establishment. And if there's one thing I love, it's dedication to a theme. They have a little gift shop inside with clothes and coffee cups, and I had not seen prior to coming in that this place was not a single small local coffee place, but multiple locations. I think with they could be the buccees of coffee shops. I did not look up this place much before we went in, which is not the norm for me, but I didn't see that they had something with blackberry and I wanted to come in and get something with that. I told someone at the register that I saw something with blackberry online and want whatever it is. They said that they have a blackberry syrup and the woman said that she would be able to put black berry syrup in lemonade for me, which was fantastic. She used Simply Lemonade, which, is great, and something I buy often, but I was hoping they would have their own fresh made Lemonade. If they don't have fresh lemons, and don't want to start making fresh lemonade, I would suggest to also have the option of diet simply lemonade just to have that sugar free option. Just a bit of constructive criticism. Muscle man brought us out a warmed chocolate chip cookie that we ordered for our toddler, and gave it on the house which was very kind of them. I tried my girls cookie and it was literally the most perfect cookie. Beautiful, picturesque, warm, with crunchy edges and a chewy middle. I wanted to buy a dozen cookies on the spot, but controlled myself, and vowed to come back in the future-- for the cookies, and to try their coffees when I'm not already caffeinated up. Let me start off by saying that this place has an excellent customer service. I have been wanting to visit a Black Rifle Coffee for years and noticed a few months ago it was so close to me. The interior is absolutely beautiful and a great spot to hang out and take tons of pictures. It gives a classy man cave vibes. We ordered the caramel cafe latte and it was tasty, but it was a bit too toasty for my taste. I couldn't get past the charred flavor. However, today (7/26/2025) marks the second time I've visited and found the shop closed with no notice. I waited at the drive-thru, but there were no signs posted or updates online. While I understand that unexpected closures happen, the lack of communication is frustrating -- especially when it happens more than once. Finally tried Black Rifle coffee! I did enjoy my salted caramel latte - very strong coffee but the drink was delicious! I enjoyed the flavor overall, however it got really salty towards the end when it cooled down and I was almost finished. I was stoked that Black Rifle Coffee was going to open up a location off Jones/1960 right next to the Bank of America. I've tried some of their coffees and have greatly enjoyed the punchlines of their coffee. Struck with the cleanliness of the establishment, and the friendliness of the baristas was a huge plus. They were so willing to give us a rundown on their drinks and even offered free samples of the different types of roasts to customers. They also give a percentage off for military veterans. I went with the Smokey Joe, which was basically a latte with hickory syrup that gave the coffee an incredible smoked flavor. I would definitely get that again! Then as if that was not enough, they came around with samples of their dark roast coffee and also their coffee cake, which was actually pretty good. I also loved how spacious the interior was with ample space to sit and chat, or to knock out some work on the laptop. The glass windows really gave it a ton of light and made it inviting. read more

I went to a Black Rifle in Virginia Beach and loved it. Finally made the trek to Black Rifle on 1960 (45 mins away) and sadly it was a major disappointment. There were only 2 people working, but it was not busy inside. I ordered a Hot Matcha latte. My husband order the Santa's Salted Caramal coffee. He tried it and said it taste awful. It was Very bitter and opened top it to see coffee grounds in the foam. When given my drink, I told the guy I ordered my matcha Hot because it was in a plastic cup. He said it was warm . Unfortunately, we were in a hurry to leave (had to pick up son) and didn't stay to have them remake.... Especially after hearing another customer asking to have her drink remade and the female barista was really hesitant even though it was not made the way the customer asked (one shot instead of two). That customers drink was also not hot either and the barista said she could not heat her drink up but could only add hot water but it would water it down. Eventually the barista offered to remake it. My husband ended up just asking for them to add more milk to help with the bitterness since we had to rush out. I hope this is only a rare occasion. I hate that it wasn't the experience we had the first time in Virginia Beach. read more
