Today is opening day at Black Rock and as you can imagine, busy! As soon as I entered the parking lot I was directed into one of the two lines. A worker came by and passed out a menu with their opening week deals. Today's deal is $2 mediums! A really good deal considering their premium mediums are $4-5. The worker suggested going inside to cut the drive thru wait time of 20 minutes. Good idea! I went inside and there was no line to order. I ordered a medium iced Caramel blonde, sugar free, and a medium iced IV (Irish cream vanilla breve- 6 shots), SF. Every table inside was occupied and some people had their laptops. I don't know if it's because today was opening day or if it's everyday but there was loud music playing. For me I would not be able to work here as I take Teams meeting all day. I patiently waited as the workers made the drive thru drinks. After about 10 minutes I noticed customers who had ordered after me had received their drinks. I mentioned this to the worker who had taken my order and she commented "That's so weird..." she apologized and put my order back in. I get that it's opening day but it's also not ok that my order was completely overlooked. A few minutes later I received my drinks. This was about 20 minutes after I had walked in. So maybe I should have stayed in the drive thru where I would have gotten my drink the first time. As far as taste I would say BR is comparable to Dutch bros. The premium drinks are quite sweet and pretty high in calories. The caramel blondie mostly tasted of milk. Bf's IV tasted like coffee but not 6 shots worth. It tasted mocha-y which is odd as it doesn't have mocha... Would I come back to BR? Probably not. I need a new coffee spot. read more

I was served coffee with spoiled/sour milk this morning. When I went back to let them know the non-fat milk was possibly expired and that they should check, I was told that was "good to know!!!" in an off putting, rude tone by Aleah R. No apology, no accountability, no cause for concern, just a horrible attitude. Aleah should be trained on better customer service and food handling. read more

I'm impressed with the taste of Black Rock's espresso beans and efficient service. I never really go inside, but drive-thru gets me right about 98% of the time. One time, I even forgot to specify "RAW sugar," and when checking at the window, a barista said I recognized your voice and knew you meant raw sugar. I once pulled up to the menu board REALLY hungry and tried an amazing spinach pastry, and it's incentive for me to come back soon! read more

Atmosphere - I was surprised how large the place was.  We were the only customers inside when we arrived.  Looks like a fun place to meet up with  your friends. Drink - Mochas are my coffee outside the house drink.  They have a Mexican Mocha, yes please!!  I ordered the large.  The hint of chocolate and spice was on point. Service - Greeted by the cashier as we entered the place.  She did not rush us and were able to take in the menu.  They had five or six people working the drinks.  Clearly most of their customers use the drive thru.  I could tell that they had two different people working on our drinks.  Clearly the team knows their regulars as Ginger was greeted with her name and a pup cup.  She was a beautiful puppy. My first time, and I just went through the drive through. But, the drive through was in good condition, the menu boards were clean, and the parking lot seemed well taken care of. The staff was very friendly. The woman at the window enjoyed starting a little small talk. Staff was well dressed, had good hygiene, and was well organized. They effortlessly got me to sign up for their points program. I ordered the iced caramel blondie and it was fantastic; not too sweet, balanced between coffee and milk. About $6 for a large, which is normal. Would definitely order it again. Next visit I want to explore more of their coffee drinks, maybe just try the next one on the menu. We ordered an americano, some fancy drink for my hubby (iced caramel something) and a pumpkin scone. Coffees and the scone were absolutely delicious and were ready real quick. The place had a chill vibe, everyone was on their computers working. Definitely my kind of place. Only two downsides: 1. A/C was so strong we had to leave because of the cold 2. The baristas were kind of cold as well like no smiles or conversation whatsoever which I am not used to see in Arizona (but it might be some people's choice obviously) Overall, a good experience I would say. read more

I hate to give a bad review but Black Rock has been a mix of days with great drinks and days with terrible drinks, today the drinks were really bad. Got drinks we normally get: iced blackout, normally a very sweet drink but tasted like water today, no espresso flavor and seriously lacking any sweetness. Other drink was a cold brew kickstarter which was also very watery, foam wasnt sweet on top and there wasnt much of a coffee flavor to the drink either, tasted like drinking water with a splash of milk. The drinks are seriously expensive to risk getting a bad one so i wont be coming back, spent about $30 this morning on the drinks and 2 food items and wasn't impressed by any of it. Again, hit or miss with this location, not willing to risk wasting money any longer, please make sure staff are adequately trained/ machines are functioning properly so there is some sort of normalcy between visits, its shouldnt be a random experience each time read more

GOOD VIBES! I got the Mexican Mocha and it was so good! It was also made so quickly, it was ready as soon as I sat down. They played really nice music in here and lots of people were sitting at tables working on laptops. The bar type seating at the front was very uncomfortable though, don't recommend sitting there, try to get a table instead. So glad I came here for my afternoon pick me up coffee, my taste buds are very satisfied! And the ambiance and AC blasting is just right with this 95 degree weather which had me melting outside. I ordered the Mexican Mocha with Oatmilk & ahhhhamazing!!! Just the right amount of sweetness and that cinnamon & nutmeg hit right! And bc it's Cinco de mayo they had a special of get a medium for $3; they seem to have a lot of specials & who doesn't love a special! My first time coming inside and the ambiance is clean and comfortable. The drink I ordered was good quality alike all the others I've had in the drive thru. The only disappointment I had was with the customer service.. I ordered my drink at the counter without a hello and the barista left the register before I could finish my transaction with her. When I got my finished drink from the other barista I gave a kind "thank you" which was ignored. I came on not a particular busy time, and it seemed no one cared to look me in the eye and engage. Looks like a newer build with ample room for seating inside as well. When I need a sweet treat I'll go for a raspberry mocha which they nail every time. It's the best one I have found! Wow, I've been going to Black Rock since I first saw them in the East Valley. I've been super excited to see them continue to put in new shops. I've visited a majority of them, as I like to support them. Today, worst experience with a drink from them. It's a $3 small chiller week. Today's special is the matcha chiller. I went through the drive-thru as I was in a rush, and couldn't go inside. My matcha is so watered down! I could deal with that alone, but it's like they didn't blend it enough, cause there are huge chunks of ice. I will not quit going to Black Rock, but I might think twice about this location, which sucks cause they are so close to work.
