Fist time at this location. I love that we now have a blackrock that we can sit inside. My husband and I went in to journal and sketch while we drank our coffee. We went around 10am. It was pretty mellow at this time. We got bagels to go with our coffee. They are deffinitly not stingy with the cream cheese which is a plus! The ambiance deffinitly gives off a creative coffee house. You can either sit at a table or the few big chairs they have. I can deffinitly see myself coming back when I'm wanting to unplug from my phone and enjoy some coffee and sketch/journal.

when we were traveling in AZ, i saw a bunch of black rock coffee shops but did not get the opportunity to try them out. while in north sd, we passed by one and had to pump the brakes and stop in! this location recently opened in sept of this year. there is a drive thru and walk in with a huge seating area! loved the decor! the menu offers plenty of different types of drinks from teas, coffee to energy drinks. i ordered: iced caramel blondie cold brew with cream strawberry passion green tea with dragonfruit and ofc a pup cup! service was great and drinks were ready fairly quick. i love the iced caramel blondie, not too sweet, def want to try the shaken espresso next. parking: parking avail, there was a long line for the drive thru but no issues leaving the lot, there was.a second lane, as if the building may have been a bank prior?

So it has been awhile since I've been to a black rock coffee spot. I like how this one is an actual cafe and not just a drive thru coffee place. It is their grand opening so everyone gets free coffee!!! Everyone from beginning of this line until I got my coffee was nice. It only took 20 mins even tho there was quite a long line. From the outside it looks so clean. The coffee I got was ok. I got the hazelnut chocolate iced coffee. The bacon burrito I got wasn't very good. It was a little cold on some parts and I was wondering if it was fully cooked. I do like their coffee from time to time. I just won't get their burritos. I believe my favorite was their Irish cream coffee.

We decided to check out the new Black Rock location in Vista today at around 10 am. I love that they have a spacious looking indoor seating area. However, we opted for the drive thru. It was Day 2 for this location and food was 50% off. We ordered the warm coffee cake with our iced Black Out and hot Mexican Mocha. It was pretty busy when we arrived. There was a long line that went quickly. It's 2 am and I am certain it's the coffee keeping me awake! It happens every time I have Black Rock! The coffee was very good and consistent with the other location. Our coffee cake was served warm, and it was delicious with gooey crumbles on top and winding through the cake. My hubby called it dangerous! All I know is that I'm definitely ordering it again. I forgot to take a picture of it because we devoured it quickly. It was pretty though!

Very slow service inside; 30 minutes for a breakfast burrito and a drink. Very few customers inside. The drive-thru is faster.

I have visted the original locations near Mission in Oceanside for years. It's great to have another in the neighborhood. I almost always get a mocha here, as they know what they are doing with craft coffee. I love thier hot cups too, they are not flimsy! My favorite of BD is the art and merch available. They have cozy fleece banana sweatshirts to custom art on the walls for sale. Go here, have the coffee - Dang it's good. Note to Self: Try a Banana Dang specialty coffee on your next visit. A kind of play on; no shoes, no shirt, no service...there was a Ryan Gosling pic that used to say something like; Wear a shirt, unless you are Ryan Gosling. If you love banana-anything, this spot is a no brainer! They also have a lot of non-banana options (e.g. straight lattes, americanos, fruit smoothies, etc.) I wish you could get larger sizes, but as with a lot of niche coffee shops, they only have 1 size offering. The Dirty Nutty Dang was decadent and delish - banana chocolately peanut buttery smoothie with 2 shots of espresso. The ShakEned BaNana was also a hit - a smoothe banana flavored latte with oak milk. Definitely a fun place to try for your next coffee outing!

I admittedly got a coupon in the mail to try this place out and I'm so glad I did!…read more This place is tucked away in Vista but the location is huge -- I'm wondering what, if anything else, they'll add to it. The service was quick and friendly. I ordered the vanilla cinnamon latte with oat milk -- a large comes with three shots which is music to my ears. The latte was a perfect balance of sweet and spice and you definitely tasted the coffee, which is important to me. I also treated myself to the Santa Fe bagel which was packed with flavor and ingredients! Definitely worth the price and I would order it again. This may be a new addition to my coffee rotation :)

Oh, Ascend Roasters -- where hospitality goes to die and a place that masquerades as child-friendly…read moreclearly is not. My friend and I came in today with our three infants, thinking we'd enjoy a nice morning and support a local spot. Big mistake. We dropped over $30 on a sad panini, bland avocado toast, and a forgettable coffee. For those prices, you'd hope for decent food -- or at the very least, air conditioning. Instead, we got a sweltering room full of flies. Nothing says "artisanal café" quite like batting away bugs while sweating through your latte. But the real masterpiece was the customer service. As we were leaving, I asked if we could get a few ounces of milk to top up my baby's bottle. You'd think I'd asked for liquid gold. The baristas looked like I'd just broken a company policy they made up five minutes ago and scurried off to find their manager. Enter the manager -- who must have a PhD in Missing the Point. She told me they "sell 10oz kids cups" (how helpful!) even after I said we just needed a few ounces. Then she proudly returned with *a condiment container* of milk, like she was performing some grand act of generosity. When I asked for it in a cup, she declared, "This is a business. I can't give any more because I buy the milk." Iconic. Truly. Nothing screams good business sense like nickel-and-diming moms over a few ounces of milk after they've already paid thirty bucks. Honestly, if you're looking for overpriced food, sauna-like temperatures, and management that treats milk like it's a controlled substance -- this is your place. As for me, I'll take my money somewhere that remembers what customer service and common sense look like. Ascend Roasters has officially descended to the bottom of my list.

I've come here multiple times a week since it opened because I can walk here from work. Not long ago many of the long time employees began disappearing and a new person seems to be in charge. I'm not sure if she bought the place or was put in charge but things immediately went downhill- -Some of the menu changed and drinks/ food quality dropped. My order often comes out wrong. - The place is now *filthy*. Tables are always dirty and the bathroom is nasty. As I was waiting for my order I leaned on a table and put my hand down on something sticky with several long black hairs stuck to it. I never eat in any more. - The new manager is incredibly abrasive and unprofessional. She always complaining loudly to her employees while they work and it's sometimes about customers. (She called a guy who called in an order "stupid.") She and her family members often take up multiple tables in the cafe even when it's busy. I know they have an office so why is she always taking up a table for four with her paperwork? I've seen people looking for a table and then leave because she and her family had spread across mulitiple tables (for only a couple of people.) - There's often only one (nice) young lady working behind the counter so things go *slow*. I don't know if they're understaffed because they're cutting corners, but I will say that turnover seems high lately. Gee, I wonder why? I will keep picking up my black coffee here but I will never stay or get something "fancy" ever again. Maybe visit the cats but don't expect a nice place to hang/work.
