    Clam chowder with bread bowl
    Jeremy L.

We've come to the area a few times now and both times we had someone ask us if we've tried the shrimp shack. Now we have! Open seating so just grab yourself a table. There are 2 lines to order. One for the grill which is the menu stuff. The other for your bags of shrimp. When we were there, the shrimp line was the longest. My wife and I split up so we could try both. The Grill: we just got a bunch of stuff to share Fish Burger (4): This was pretty good. Soft bun. Tender fish. Their fries are really crispy. Solid sando. Fish n Chips (4): They fry stuff really well and their fish is fresh. Fish was flaky. Did need the tartar sauce but it was still good. Clam Chowder Bread Bowl (4): Decent. Bread bowl was good but nothing spectacular. Chowder had some good sized clams and was creamy. The Shrimp (4): We love the shrimp trucks in Hawaii and our friends sort of hyped us up with that in mind. When we got to the front, we really didn't know what to order. We got what most people seemed to be getting. Just a combo of small and medium shrimp. All the shrimp is cooked in saltwater. So you need to peel them. They were fresh and tasty. A little sweet even. It's work though. If you don't like peeling shrimp, then might not be as good as the hype. I personally didn't think the small shrimp was worth the effort cause they were TAI NEE! Maybe next time I'll just take them home to grill and eat them whole. Next time. I do wish we got the jumbo shrimp. I feel like those would be more worth it. Overall, glad we tried it out. Shrimp was good. Grill was good. I still don't know why there's so much hype around it though. Maybe we were doing it wrong. We'll return with the friends that recommended it so we could see how its supposed to be done.

Perfect sunny day to drive up to Whidbey Island. A short drive from Deception Pass is this popular shack with outdoor seating. We've been coming to this place for years and it never disappoints. In fact, it seems it's even getting better. The menu is quite extensive, with game choices (alligator meat), as well. But we come here for boiled Coons Stripe Shrimps. They're small, but big in flavor. We also had a blue crab burger and oyster burger. Both are have generous amount of oysters and soft shell crab. The buns are soft and the dressing in each are good. They both come with fries, which are crispy and seasoned well. The tent holds a couple of benches and it feels like being in a picnic. There are honey buckets, with outdoor sinks. Despite the lines, the lady at the counter is efficient and manages to be friendly. There's plenty of parking in the front.

Not our first time however it's been many years since our last visit. For a weekday, there was a long line to order. It did not take that long however we were told they were training a new cook. The wait for the food was not bad. We ordered a pound of the medium coonstripes shrimp for $16. It was so good, sweet and fresh. We ordered the oyster burger and blue crab burger. Both served with French fries and served on a brioche roll. The portion was big, very filling. Good amount of fries, freshly fried and not soggy. You order food from a window and lots of picnic tables. You wait for your order to be called. Lots of portable washing machine with soap and paper towels. Very clean and lots of parking. Nice day to sit out specially during the summer months.

Amazing spot for some delicious shrimp, seafood and other grilled foods! Came here on a Saturday morning and the line was pretty long, we ended up waiting about 25 mins in the shrimp line to buy some cooked shrimp by the pound. If you want hot foods, there is a separate line on the left that is much shorter. The line to the right is only for shrimp by the pound. Upon ordering we had to wait 20 mins extra for our fried foods. We ordered the calamari and the captains plate. The food was crispy, tasty and fresh! I'll definitely be back for the shrimp by the pound. Seating is outdoors underneath a tent first come first serve. There were many people who brought their own condiments, breads, rice, gloves, etc to eat with their shrimp. There were also people who brought their pets since it was outdoor seating. Bathrooms are porta potty's near the seating area. Parking: free lot

Decided to give this place a try after seeing several videos online. Visited on a weekday and it was pretty busy but there was plenty of parking and outdoor seating. Only port a potties for restrooms so be prepared for that. Good customer service. I was in the mood for fish n chips so I ordered that. The fish fry had a nice crunch but no seasoning. Added lemon and salt and it was ok. Fries are fries so those were good. Also tried the clam chowder and it was also just ok, really thick which I didn't expect. I wanted to give it a try and I did and now I know, it's not my favorite.

Popcorn, shrimp, and cold french fries

We had french fries that were served cold. Popcorn chicken very bland. This place is what you would called a tourist trap. We were hoping it would be better. Very pricey for the location and what they're serving. If you need to go to the bathroom you have a port a potty, gross. The location of the Porta potty is very close to where you're eating. And good luck getting out of the parking lot, one way in one way out you have to back out. Good luck you don't hit anyone.

My family has been coming here almost every summer, usually after camping at Deception Pass or Whidbey Island, so this has definitely become one of our regular stops. The grilled food is okay. The fish and chips are fine, but a little too greasy and bready for our liking. But the main reason we come here is for the shrimp. It always tastes fresh and sweet even without any dipping sauce. I'm giving 4 stars because the shrimp sizing can be inconsistent. Even when we ordered medium, some of the shrimp were way too small. I would also skip the small/medium mix. Yes, it saves a little money, but there were too many tiny shrimp and they were annoying to peel. If you order grilled food during weekend lunch, be prepared to wait around 30 minutes. Seating can get busy, but tables do turn over pretty quickly, especially if you don't mind sharing a table with other people.

Had lunch here after visiting Deception Pass. It was good; but not mind blowing good; but better than eating fastfoods. The lady helping us at the window was super friendly and nice. Seating inside and plenty outdoor seating as well. We sat outside and they call your number when you order is ready. Worth the stop if you looking for something in the area; deff way better than the fast foods around. What we got: Popcorn Shrimp (3.5/5) Shrimps were crispy; well seasoned. I asked for both cocktail and tartar sauce; both are good. Onion ring (3.5/5) Your typical onion rings. You order it as an extra side; but dang they gave you a lot!!! Good problem to have. Overall; i will eat here over the fast foods in the area. Saw some people order the fish and chip; and it looks good.

This was my first time trying an oyster burger (~$26) and despite it being one of the most expensive burgers I've paid for, I loved it! They put a lot of oysters in the "pattie" and the portion sizes were pretty big. I was stuffed by the end of it. I also really like their fries; they were perfectly crispy. I tried some of my friend's blue crab burger which was delicious! I'd probably get that one next time. The seating in there is pretty limited and there isn't really a server but the cashier was nice! They have a cat outside that is super fun to play with too!

Captains platter- 2 pieces of fish, 4 oysters, 3 colossal shrimp
    Judy B.

Captains platter was great to try a little bit of everything, it was a bit expensive ($37) but the fish was tender, the shrimp were huge, and the oysters were cooked perfect. The cocktail and tartar sauce are great with it. Just a warning we arrived and there was a huge line, we stood in it for an hour to find out it was just the bag of shrimp line, the line for the actual other food was empty. So we could have walked right up but being our first time didn't know and stood in the wrong line.

Both size of shrimp of the my medium order.
    Thao C.

The burgers and fries are pretty good; however, the medium size shrimp too small. Bring your cash for discount 3.75%. The service was great. Only one thing is waiting time for the burgers 20-30 mins -plus 30 mins waiting in line about 10 people ahead of me.

This spot is one of my favorite summer go-tos. The coon-striped shrimp is incredibly sweet and flavorful--an absolute must-try. If you're craving more, the grill side offers a generous selection of dishes to satisfy every appetite. Yes, it's a bit on the pricier side, but the quality and taste make it well worth it. Can't forget to mention the portions are generous as well! It's definitely worth the trek, especially on weekends--just be sure to arrive early, as the lines can get long. And while you're in the area, don't miss Deception Pass--it's only a few minutes away and adds a scenic bonus to the trip. Though it shines in summer, I recommend stopping by in the off-season too. The charm and flavors hold up year-round. Nice outdoor seating in the summer and the indoor area opens in the winter.

Loved the freshness of the shrimps and the fish and chips!!! I highly recommend any seafood fan to make a stop here (shorter wait if it's not peak dinner hours) and try the food here!!!
