I grew up in Boulder with a father that was a big contractor and always thought and spoke highly of Black Roofing. I encountered them recently at the Longmont Home show and at this point have completely changed my mind. I have have been dealing with Todd Trehey he was to be giving me a quote on siding my home. He told me and showed me Harding siding at the show and said he could do it for the pricing range I had giving him. He would need to come look and give me a quote. He canceled the first appt then after the second I called several times and nothing. Then he said he had to send an actual workman to look at it. Still nothing. I have texted him and he sends " working on it. Should have you a ball park figure early next week". That was sent May 1st. Still nothing. This company is not reliable in any way. Very disappointed not to mention I have to start all over again. Make sure you are willing to put up with this or look to another company. read more

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT TO USE BLACK ROOFING. They did a roof repair 2 years ago which I assumed was fine. I just did a regular roof recheck, had 4 roofing companies inspect and EACH AND EVERY one said there were "repair" screws placed thorough the shingles, then caulked on top. This destroys the integrity of the material and increases the potential for issues. EACH contractor did not understand why any roofer would repair that way. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT TO USE THIS COMPANY. They reduced the life of my roof. I have also learned they have a reputation to be the most expensive roofer in Boulder. read more

Todd was thorough in assessing the damage to our roof and coordinating our solar panel replacement as well as our gutter protectors. He responded to our questions, concerns promptly. It took too long to complete shingle replacement but getting the shingles was a challenge. He made sure we handled the insurance reimbursement correctly. Paid for new roof last summer, water running down our walls already in April. Need I say more?

We had Black Roofing do our home and barn in early August 2019. The crew of 7 showed up on time and early every day and was amazing with their efficiency, organization, hard work and answering my many questions! They completed the project in 2 1/2 days which we really appreciated--prolonging the noise and clutter for a week would not be good. Every end of day the crew had a few guys go around the house to pick up old roofing materials, trash etc. The quality is exceptional--the Boulder County inspector made several favorable comments in his review of the home and was so impressed he did not feel it necessary to even go look at the barn work. Both Sam Gooley , the project mgr, and Julio Blanco were very accommodating, informative, helpful to me. This is our first roof in 18 years and we could not be happier with any roofer. If you have a difficult or complex roofing project then Black Roofing is who you need to call. Their extensive knowledge of technical roof systems and overall capabilities are second to none. I'm 100% satisfied with the work done by Black Roofing and on their pricing. I received bids from three Boulder area roofers for the same job (identical roofing material). The bids were $40,700 (B&M Roofing), $38,34 (Boulder Roofing), and $33,945 (Black Roofing). The Black Roofing bid was not only the lowest, but the lowest by a significant margin. Black Roofing used a crew of 5 or so workers every day and got the job done in a week (starting a week or so of signing the contract with them). The roof looks great and they cleaned up everything, as promised. Based on my own experience, you are making a mistake if you hire a roofing company in the Boulder area without at least getting a bid from Black Roofing. read more

Black performed thousands of dollars of work to address a leak from our upper balcony into our master bedroom. Please be warned: they do not warranty their repairs or leak fixes. When the exact same spot started leaking again causing exactly the same damage as before (less than a year after their 'repairs'), they would do nothing to remedy the problem. I understand that a roofing company cannot guarantee that you will never experience a leak again. But when someone pays $4,000 for very simple repairs, I would expect the company that performed them to at least offer to come out and inspect the problem when those repairs prove inadequate. To Black - a neighbor who is a former contractor just told us that a simple fix for this leak would have been to install a flashing along the balcony rail to redirect water coming down from the roof. This kind of simple fix seems like something your employees could have identified and that would have cost dramatically less than the thousands of dollars you charged. It also would have addressed the actual leak. read more

Black Roofing was worth waiting for to do my residential re-roof job after the 2018 hailstorm. Their roofers and field staff are outstanding and did an excellent job on the re-roof. Their field support staff (superintendent JB and project manager TT) were the best and went above-and-beyond to exceed my expectations for an A+ job. The reason I rate Black Roofing 4-stars instead of 5 is because of the POOR service from the office/administrative support staff, most notably their current service coordinator, AB. I had to make repeated calls to request paperwork for my insurance company and the service coordinator never carried through without follow-up from other field staff and repeated calls from me. There were always plenty of excuses offered for the poor service, but it never improved. So, you can expect the best work from the field staff and roofers, but, unfortunately, below average, frustrating service from the office staff. If you're willing to make that trade-off, your roofing job will be the best, but your blood pressure may take a beating :( read more

I have hail damage and called for a quote. The guy said he doesn't do quotes, he just works with the claim from my insurance instead. Which, to me, means you don't have standard prices on your product. Instead, it means that they are going to inflate their prices to take all of the insurance money that was paid out. That's not the American way. That's what the door to door roofers do. I guess I shouldn't use Google to find local businesses. Recommendations are the way to go. read more

This company was recommended when we needed roof repairs. They scheduled an appointment to quote the repairs on 7/22/15 at 11am. They didn't show or call. I called when they missed the appointment. Was told I had been rescheduled to 7/28 at 1:30pm, although no one spoke to me to confirm. Now, they have missed the 7/28/15 appointment; again without a call. When I called the office, I was told the service manager had "spaced" and was doing something else. Completely unprofessional! Needless to say, I didn't schedule another appointment. read more
