This is my new favorite hidden gem in Winter Park. I don't know how I haven't heard of them or been there until now, but this plays does not mess around with their birria. My boyfriend and I visited on a Saturday night for dinner. He got tacos al pastor, and I got a birria quesadilla. We both got aguas frescas as well. The birria was so brilliant. It was tender and juicy, and the quesadilla was perfect. The tacos were also a generous serving. This place was really well priced. I also loved their plates and cups, they were very unique and pretty and gave the place way more character than a plain white plate and clear glass cup ever could. The service was also great. I will definitely be back to this place, not just because I love supporting local business, but also because I genuinely don't know where I could find better birria in town. The location is really cute, and the place itself was clean and had a nice atmosphere. The drinks were fantastic--definitely the highlight of my visit. Unfortunately, the food and customer service need some work. I ordered three tacos: one asada, one al pastor, and one chorizo. The tacos honestly tasted like the meat had been dehydrated, and the onion and cilantro didn't seem fresh. I ate about half of one taco and couldn't finish it. What was even more disappointing was the experience of ordering. I was told "no" probably five different times--either something wasn't available, wasn't prepared , or couldn't be mixed and matched. I understand that restaurants have limitations, but the way it was handled made me feel like my requests were an inconvenience rather than an opportunity to accommodate a customer. Customer service is just as important as the food. What really stood out to me was that no one seemed to notice--or even ask--why I barely ate my food. When the plate was picked up, the only comment was essentially, "Okay, you're done." No "How was everything?" No "Did you enjoy your food?" Nothing. The place has a lot of potential because the atmosphere is cute, clean, and the drinks are great. But the food quality and, especially, the customer service need significant improvement. A little more attention to freshness, hospitality, and making customers feel welcome would make a big difference. Shes nice just oblivious. 24 dollars for chicharron that was 95 percent fat. Fried fat chunks with guac. Tacos fell apart and had awful flavor. Pastor does not taste like pastor. Both beefs were tough, fatty, and had an unsettling flavor. Not authentic at all. The tortillas are white not yellow like in the pictures posted by management. Overall horrible and expensive. This place was amazing! We came for the taco Tuesday deal but everything looked so delicious so we also tried nachos and empanadas. The tacos had the freshest tortilla I've ever tried-- soft and not crumbly-- and you can tell they are made in house (as confirmed by the server). The meat options are limited for the $2 deal but I enjoyed both chicken and pastor. The nachos were also delicious, stacked with salty refried beans and tender birria. The crunch from raw onions and cilantro balanced the rich meat. And lastly, definitely order the birria empanadas which were stuffed with lamb, coated in cheese, and came with a savory consome to dip. This was the 2nd time we ate at this restaurant. Not pictured here was the birria ramen from the 1st time we went. This place has birria everywhere and it does not disappoint! We tried the birria pizza and the birria burger this time. The birria pizza was delicious and the cheese pull was out of this world!! I love a good mom and pop shop- and damn this one was great! Small, quaint and clean- just how I like it. The server was the absolute sweetest and super attentive- he even gave us the remote so that our kids could watch something- just above and beyond. This place left me speechless. I saw such great reviews that had to try this for myself when I was in the area. Some of the best food I've had in a while and coming from Gainesville I think we lack good authentic high quality Mexican food. I had the tacos de pollo which came with rice and beans and my bf had the birria. The rice was fluffy and perfectly seasoned. Probably one of the best rice I ever had from a Mexican place. The beans were a little spicy and I love spicy but it was a little too much for me since I was sick. But I'd come back for the rice for sure. Came across this place from an Instagram post... they were advertising $20 all you can eat and $2 tacos. (All you can eat ends at 5pm). We got there after the all you can eat special ended... so we ordered off the regular menu. Everything we got was TOP SHELF. Dare I say, the best birria dishes I've had in central Florida. We stopped by after a visit to UCF. Our group ordered a variety of dishes. I had the chorizo tacos which were excellent! Enjoyed the rice and beans as well which were very flavorful. The quesabirrias got high marks from 3 people in our group. The birria pizza and birria empanadas got slightly less marks from the pickier teens but I can't tell by the plate as the pizza plate is clean! Fries were also given good reviews. The lowest mark was for the chimichanga but the waitress spent time going over the menu and it wasn't one that she mentioned as good so there's that. The waitress was very helpful and the food came faster than I expected as it was made fresh. The lemonade and pineapple juice also got rave reviews and was reported to be very fresh. So this place is the real deal!!! It's a small restaurant but packs lots of flavor in its food! This is not like the big chain Mexican restaurants... it's not fancy and it's not quick. Everything is made to order and it is delicious . The Husband had Birria Tacos made with lamb and I had tacos made with ground beef. The flavor of the ground beef was unlike anything I have tried before, so flavorful and had a distinct flavor that we couldn't place and the server wouldn't divulge! My plate had 3 generously filled tacos garnished simply with onion and cilantro. Rice came on the side which was also delicious! Husbands plate had only 3 Birria tacos and dipping sauce. The food is honestly not that bad. I avidly go to different taco spots to try them all and this one is recently new. They were tasteful, would go again, however, some things I didn't like as much. Ordered to-go. Didn't realize they offer delivery. Upon arrival there place was empty I was greeted and provided my order. They have a special on Tuesday 3 tacos/$5 you can choose from carne asada, pastor or chicken. I went with 12 carne asada. The meat was VERY FATTY and tasted Smokey. (Both my husband and I didn't really care for the seasoning on the meat. Simple salt and pepper would have been fine to truly Taste the meat). Sadly I had a whole taco of just fat. I had originally asked for sauce on the side and unfortunately all the salsa was on the tacos making it VERY soggy and if there is one thing I can't stand is soggy wet food. I am Now making and warming on the stove my Own tortillas. Perhaps if I went and dined in I would have a better fresher experience although I live .5 miles away from the location. I took some photos of the inside as well as the menu. If you plan on ordering make sure to be super specific on your requests. After paying $20+ w tip I shouldn't have to take out my Own tortillas from my panty to have a decent taco. We will not return. Personally taqueria las cazuelas up the street next to Dunkin also has taco tues deals same exact price with more options. We decided to try this place as we saw them on instagram. We stopped here after a visit to UCF. It's a casual little hole in the wall, family run place with comfortable tables. It was VERY clean which I appreciated. I saw others on Yelp recommend the carne asada and the lemonade so I ordered both and I'm so glad I did! I lived in Arizona for ten years before moving to Florida and haven't had authentic Mexican food this good since I left AZ. The carne asada melted in my mouth and the sauce was HOT just like made from scratch good Mexican sauces should be! So if the hottest sauce you've ever eaten is the fire sauce from Taco Bell... get it on the side! It's nothing like that mass produced wimpy gringo sauce. My husband and daughter ordered the chicken flautas. The shells were perfectly crunchy while the chicken inside was juicy and flavorful... which is hard to find. It was also plated beautifully in a molcajete. The lemonade was so good, I would stop in just for a refill... just the right amount of sweet and tart... I usually find lemonade to be overpoweringly sweet... this was just right. Dinner for 3 was $60 and well worth the price. This is our new "go to" whenever we visit UCF. read more
