Los Generales is my go to for authentic Mexican cuisine. They are open late, extremely fast service, great prices and the food is amazing. I love the free bottomless chips and salsa. The shrimp tacos are my go to each taco has about 8 shrimp in it and the tomato sauce the are cooked in is very tasty. This place definitely feels like a hole in the wall but I think it gives it more charm. It is a hidden gem and I come here at least once a month for my Mexican fix. read more

Really good experience. Came in hungry and left full. The cool signage drew me in. A cozy, quaint atmosphere inside. Chips, a carafe of salsa, and 2 squeeze bottles of hot sauce were immediately dropped off after I ordered a water. Everything on the menu looked amazing, but I ended up getting the Chorizo Tacos ($12). I didn't want anything too filling and I thought it might be on the lighter side. Quite the opposite; possibly the most loaded chorizo tacos I've ever had. The meat was seared piping hot and covered in onion and cilantro. I doused them all in the green sauce devoured them. I bit off more than I could chew (so to speak) on this visit, so I'll definitely be bringing a friend next time. Server was nice. Looks like the margs and sangria are only $5. read more

I finally went to this restaurant to check it out for myself after being told that it was good. Unfortunately for me and my friend that wasn't the case. One issue was the big difference in price comparison between the menu on the web site as oppose to the menu at the restaurant itself. A six dollar difference when you sit at the table. The food was hot but very very bland with no real authentic Mexican taste. when I address the issue with the owner he told me to cook it myself which really upset me. He obviously didn't care at all and with a stupid smile on his face walk away but not before I told him I would write a review. By the way I might add that he also owns La Fiesta restaurant across the street which is also off my list. Food was very good and was served fast. The staff were friendly and the ambience was cozy. The food was on the pricier side and we didn't even get frijoles with our meal. Their house salsa for the chips wasn't much to write home about but they also brought salsa verde and habanero so that boosted the experience. This is the one! We stumbled into this place in our neighborhood after looking for food and finding out that this place was ridiculously close so we decided to give it a try and I'm so glad that we did! At this point I've been here at least 10 times and the food and service have been consistently good. There are so many options and everything I've tried has been fantastic but I'm a huge fan of the quesadillas and tacos. I can't say no to a jumbo margarita here either. I could eat the rice and beans here as a meal every day and I don't even like beans I have never had bad service here regardless of how many tables are seated or if I'm dining in or picking up. This was a disappointing experience. First of all, before driving to the restaurant, I looked at Los Generales' web site and examined the menu, settling in advance on a burrito just based on the description. When I arrived and looked at the actual menu, I found the burrito listed on the web site at $12.99 was actually $18.99. Sticker shock! Okay, I understand prices have gone up, but maybe update the web site? The service was good, beer was cold, and the food came out piping hot. But the beef in the burrito was bland, no spices (if any at all), and salt and pepper didn't help. The rice, however, was excellent. When I spoke to the manager about the lack of "robusto" flavor in the burrito, he appeared indifferent. I interpreted his attitude as: "If you don't like it, don't come back." So I won't. Our friends introduced us to this gem and I am so happy they did. Out of several Mexican food options in Orlando, we were drawn to this one (and any one, really) because it has a vegetarian menu. We went here around 5:00 pm on a weekday. There were 4 of us. I had been really craving Mexican and since it was down the road and we hadn't been we decided to try it out. My son got a burrito and it was the biggest thing I've ever seen. He said it was good but gave him a stomach ache. He ate about 1/3 of it and he's a larger guy. My other son got the pick 3 with a taco, tostada and quesadilla. He said they were good. My husband got a 2 burrito platter. He loved the flavor of the chicken. I got the three taco platter with carne asada. I love that they come on corn soft tacos and the flavor was good. My side of refried beans had hard pieces in it and I prefer my refried beans creamy. House margaritas were $5 in a 8 oz cup and were alright. I didn't give it 5 stars because I felt that $95 was a tad high for 4 of us considering what we got. The horchata is really good quality here. This is an authentic Mexican restaurant and my boyfriend really likes their Micheladas. The food is always good & comes out really quick, every time I come there is about a less than 15 minute wait for the food, it's crazy. The Mexican restaurant across from this one (next to the Winn Dixie) is very Tex-Mex so I don't like it but this one is really good and it isn't super expensive either. I am so happy to have come in to Los Generales again! I've been a La Fiesta Stan for years and had only been to los Generales a time or two before and then moved out of the neighborhood. I'm back and my partner and I decided to stop in for dinner. We ordered the guacamole to start and it was so fresh and the perfect appetizer. My love got the carne asada tacos and I chose the enchiladas verdes. Both dishes were HUGE and incredibly tasty. I liked that the enchiladas had grilled chicken as opposed to shredded chicken which made it a little different then I'm used to. Service was fantastic and friendly. The dining room is small but cozy and has a nice mix of booths and tables. I actually came back for dinner tonight and got the enchiladas Blancas and ooooh that queso hit the spot! read more

Delicious food, locally owned and friendly staff!! We live about a mile from this location and we have been a couple times now. They have excellent Mexican cuisine and plenty of options. They also serve beer and wine if you are interested. They have large / generous servings and it's very filling! The Sangria was very good - I can recommend that for sure! They have a fair amount of seating and the booths were comfortable. To their credit, they are very affordable and easier to get in-and-out of. Top marks for that. Their menu is a bit confusing. I went to THEIR ONLINE MENU and ordered something. The woman was very confused and didn't know what I meant. I read it directly from the online menu. She still didn't know. Yeeees! I love that they offer many items that you don't usually see at other Mexican restaurants like tamales oaxaqueños, cochinita pibil, huraches and much much more. I enjoyed our server's friendliness. She was so patient and welcoming. One of my favorite Mexican dishes is cochinita pibil, which is a slow-roasted pork marinated in citrus juice and wrapped in banana leaves. I was surprised this dish was listed on their menu. It's not something that you see quite often. I ordered tacos de cochinita pibil. It was soft, tender, and juicy. I highly recommend these tacos. Actually I think I recommend any other dishes. I tried a little bit of elote and the tamales. They were wonderful and flavorful. I'm going to keep this review short, but I think they are fantastic. read more

Just left this restaurant and not happy at all. Ordered this combo platter with Chili Rellanos and beef taco. Both of us said the same thing, something was sour and off. Long story short, we saw the server talking and my friend said they were probably discussing the check. The Owner/manager came over and we told him what we thought. He proceeded to tell us that it couldn't be the food basically and or his chefs or anything else. We were more than willing to pay for the quesadilla and the drink even though that wasn't great and he said this is what I'm gonna do... I'll take care of the check tonight, but don't ever come back. So I had been here once and two friends have been multiple and they really recommended it. Without question I said sure. One friend really recommended the steak dish and I quote 'it's like butter it's so tender and a kick.' So I ordered the same. The steak was so tough and lacked a lot of flavor. From something as simple as the rice it had a burnt grill taste. The service was meh felt like we were a both to ask for things and we ordered an app and it came with the meal no sense of urgency or pride in food. So for this I vote two stars my friend said one. I gave it two as the place has potential and a lot of different choices on the menu but I am not sure I'll be back. Los Generales is a great option for some delicious Mexican food! My go to is usually La Fiesta, but I wanted to try this spot again since it had been a while and I realized I had never reviewed it. We placed a to go order over the phone for pickup. My boyfriend chose the pulled beef chimichanga which comes with rice and refried beans. I decided to try their pick three combo and chose a pulled beef taco, chicken enchilada, and steak quesadilla. I opted for double rice instead of rice and beans. The food was ready on time and pickup was easy. They include chips and salsa as well as a couple of hot sauces. I ate the taco first since I know crunchy shells don't hold up as well leftover. It was delicious. The beef was tender and flavorful and the cheese they use is perfect! They included a container of extra cheese, sour cream, lettuce, and pico so you can dress up your taco more (or your other food) if you desire. Next I tasted some of the enchilada. The sauce was yummy! Their chicken wasn't as flavorful as other spots in my opinion, so I'd likely choose a different meat option next time. Finally, the quesadilla was perfect. The steak is delicious and worth the small up charge and it was perfectly cheesy. The rice here isn't my favorite compared to other places, but still a nice accompaniment and not bad by any means. I tasted my boyfriend's chimichanga of course and that was yummy too. The queso sauce made for a good flavor combo and he enjoyed it as well. We both had a lot leftover for dinner the following night! Prices here are very reasonable as well especially considering the large portions. Overall, Los Generales holds its own as a great option in the area and will definitely be a part of my rotation. I'm excited to explore some of their other menu items! read more

Came in here with a party of four. It was not the best experience from the start as the restaurant was maybe half empty and it took the staff 5 minutes to even recognize us. We were sat at a dirty table which took a long time to get it cleaned. We were about to leave when they took our drink orders but still hadn't given us menus for food. 3/4 of us got sick that evening from the food. We ordered the fajitas and burritos. I would give it zero stars if possible, would not recommend coming here and will not be returning. Very poor all around. Sister restaurant, I believe, to La Fiesta across the street and in its original spot, they seem to share salsas sort of, and whatever recipe for success because I absolutely love this place!!! Sort of a nice way to quasi explore Mexican cuisine outside of overpriced street tacos or burritos slathered in sour cream and cheese right here in our own backyard. Kind of reminds me of some of the fun places I've been when traveling Mexico about the Yucatan. Everyone is so friendly and nice and it just makes for a wholly wonderful experience. Fair prices. Been trying to visit Los Generales for for the last month or so with a friend of mine. Our schedules final lined up and we were able to meet. This restaurant is tucked off the road a little bit and if you've never heard of or new it was there you would probably just drive by. It's in a small business plaza on the first floor and sign has been faded out by the sun. It's not a huge place but when you walk in it's very open. Booths line the walls to your left and right and the center houses several 4 top tables that I'm sure are frequently pushed together to seat larger groups. The lighting is dimmed just a tad as to give you that cantina feel but definitely not to dark. We visited on a Thursday evening at about 7pm and were seated right away. Both of us had had long days at work and were hungry. We were allowed to pick our own seat and were followed to a booth by our waiter with menus. Or drink orders were taken and served very quickly, and guess what? They have Mexican Coke in a bottle!! Along with our drinks we were brought a basket of warm chips, a small carafe of salsa that had good flavor but was not spicy (bummer). Along with the chips and salsa we were given two bottles of hot sauce. On green and one a dark orange in color. The green one was very good and tasted of tomatillos with a slight spice. The orangey one had a buttery start and a spice that will wake you up. Both delicious. The menu is good size and there is everything you would find at your traditional Mexican restaurant. In addition to the traditional meals they have a savory street snack menu that include deserts and smaller portions. There is also a section that looks to be specific to maybe more southern style Mexican food being coined Mayan. The first thing I noticed on the menu when I opened it was the Bistek Mexicana, thin sliced steak sautéed with onions, tomatoes, and jalapeños, served with Mexican rice, and retried pinto beans and your choice of either flower or corn tortillas.The picture on the menu made it look very appetizing. I kept looking around the menu and found one of my all time favorites, Chili Verde. I had my mind made up that that's what I was going to get. When the waiter returned to take our order my friend asked what he recommended. The first thing he said was the Bistek Mexicana. That sealed the deal for me and changed my mind. We ended up both ordering the same thing. It took less than ten minutes for our food to be brought to the table. A nice big hot plate filled with thin sliced steak, onions, tomato's, jalapeños, rice, refried beans, And three corn tortillas wrapped in foil. I grabbed my knife and fork and started to cut the steak into bite-size pieces that I could pick up with a piece of tortilla. The steak sliced very nicely with a knife. I started with a few bites of rice, it was tender, fluffy I and had great flavor. I then moved on to the beans. They were nicely smashed into a thick paste but was still a tad chunky. The beans were very flavorful and the Cotija cheese that was on top added a nice layer of flavor. The steak stole the show though. It was tender and juicy and cook almost perfectly ( 2 minutes less and it would have been perfect). The flavor was great. The acidity from the tomatoes, the sweet from the onions, and the heat from the jalapeños all came together to form a perfect juice that the fresh tortillas soaked up. At first glance I was thinking I may have left overs for lunch the next day, but yeah that didn't happen. Great experience here, a great wait staff and delicious food. I put off trying this place because I was loyal to La Fiesta which was in the spot before Los Generales. When I finally did try it, I wasn't disappointed. Typical Mexican restaurant, chips and salsa right when you sit down. An order of guacamole was ordered immediately, a decent recipe. We split the Molcajete for dinner, it was amazing. It had chicken, steak, shrimp, chorizo and cheese. Comes this a plate of beans, rice, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. For dessert we split fried ice cream and churros (which were stuffed with caramel). I don't usually order dessert but glad I did. Overall I will be back, the service and food were good. read more
