Cute little bagel spot that gets pretty packed. Their low overall rating of 3 stars threw me off but I'm glad I decided to try anyway. I ordered a toasted everything bagel with veggie cream cheese and added turkey to it (don't knock it unless you've tried it). They made it pretty quickly which is perfect for my stop before work. The bagel itself was so good, I appreciated how crispy yet soft it was. The cream cheese was creamy and delicious - didn't feel too heavy. My only complaint is that for $9, this was a small ass bagel. I normally can't finish one and I ask for scooped out but this time I didn't and I ate the whole thing in one sitting. read more

Went here on a whim last weekend and was totally expecting a crisp, fresh Montreal bagel sliding down from an oven ramp like when I last visited a few years ago...but this totally wasn't it. The bagel was good, and had that denser Montreal style feel, but it was more like an NYC style bagel. Service was friendly but the wait requires patience as there was a crowd and a line. I went on a Monday morning to order two egg sandwiches- "The Boca". I asked for one of them to have egg whites since I don't eat yolks. They had no problem adding the egg whites. I'm a regular patron of your Williamsburg store. YOU HAVE A GREAT PRODUCT, BUT YOUR QUALITY CONTROL IS TERRIBLE. I just bought a dozen bagels at 7:45 in the morning, 45 minutes after you opened. They were all stone cold, and all of the sesame bagels were underdone. When were they made, one wonders? Certainly not this morning. And it seems as if your bakers take your bagels out of the oven after a specified time whether they're browned or not. Which means that they're not paying attention. And that's because no one is making them pay attention. Get your act together. So based on my MORE recent experience, I'm reducing my rating to One Star. Here's why. I just walked into your shop at 1:30 to order a dozen bagels, only to be informed by the young woman working there that she "couldn't fill any bulk orders because those [she said pointing to a full bin of Everything bagels, the one's I wanted to buy] are all the bagels [she] had left for the day. So, if you buy Black Seed bagels at 7:30 in the morning they're stone cold [probably baked the night before] and underdone [someone wanted to go home], and if you want to buy Black Seed bagels in the afternoon, they can't sell them in "bulk," by which they mean a WHOLE dozen. I guess they want us to come back day after day and buy our bagels one at a time, so that we can appreciate the great service. read more

Sheesh. unfortunately, pick up is a disaster if you're catering. i ordered ahead of time, a full day - pick up next day at 10am. i already got a notification at 10am that it was ready so i had time to spare and i arrived around 1030am. when i got there, they ran out of certain types of bagels and i had to think on the spot what other flavors they had and what wouldn't overlap with the flavors i already had. so i'm waiting another 10 -15 minutes for them to gather it. at this time, i'm in a rush. i went to drop off bagels at my venue and lo and behold - they forgot to give me my cream cheese spread. i had to go back and get it. and of course, they don't give forks/knives/spoons? now i'm scrambling back and forth with this nonsense. disappointed. bagels were ok. not worth the hassle tbh. read more

This location is very poorly managed - My boyfriend & I ordered and paid for two bagels a couple weeks ago around 20 min til closing. After waiting 20 min we went to check on our order and they said it was now after closing so they wouldn't make them. Even though we had already PAID. They said they couldn't give a refund and instead gave us $10 off coupons for the future. When we came back to use them today they said we can't use more than one coupon on one order and then didn't put the avocado on one bagel we paid extra for. So we still paid. I've never heard of a business letting people pay for food then refuse to make it and then DON'T offer a refund. Ridiculous read more

Great ingredients (i.e. bagels, toppings and spreads) but TERRIBLE QUALITY CONTROL. As a regular customer of this location (at least up until now), I can say that I actually get what I order only 20% of the time. Many times it is someone else's order (regardless of pickup or delivery). Other times, instructions (where you check the boxes) are ignored or misinterpreted. And if there are no special instructions, ingredients may be left out. I have called several times when my order is completely wrong and they are quick provide a refund which is an obligation, not an accommodation or concession, for poor service. I get my money back but don't have my food. I would much prefer if they got it right the first time around. Management should place discreet orders to understand the quality control issue, which is pretty consistent throughout the negative reviews on this page. read more

Just okay. You can tell they are a new business and are working out the kinks. The bagels and cream cheese are clearly made on site which is good but they can be very inconsistent. Sometimes the bagels and cream cheese are amazing and sometimes they are tasteless. They don't the bagels cool before apply the cream cheese so it's often melted and almost watery. Black Seed (every location I'd been too) used to be my favorite bagel place in the city ever. Over the last 8 ish months, it's become disappointing. The last 5/6 times I went, something was wrong with my order, and they stopped carrying the sunflower seed based cream cheese I loved. I've basically stopped going as I've found a way better bagel spot. Today, my favorite place was closed, so we went here. I ordered the veggie sandwich, and, although it's a really small detail, the avocado was missing and the bagel wasn't cut in half. The bagel was actually pretty decent (always has been), but it's just so obnoxious that my order is never correct. It's not just this location. Doesn't matter what location or when it's been (weekday or weekend), the last times I've gone something's been wrong. Sadly won't be going back. read more

Have no idea why this wonderful bagel shop only has three stars. The bagels are a little thinner and less heavy than a typical New York bagel, almost a hybrid of a New York and Montreal style bagel. With that in mind, it's a healthier option for people. Still super tasty and has generous fillings. Have added a stash to my frozen bagel stack in the freezer so I always have a bagel option. Have always experienced very friendly and prompt service when I've been there. Definitely worth having on your bagel radar. read more
