BTM just packed and moved me from my apartment in uptown to my house in Far North Dallas. It's hard to emphasize how professional and courteous these guys were -- from being punctual to taking care of the items being moved and packed. They also worked very diligently. Additionally, on the weekend they moved me, Dustin and his crew were dealing with a very busy schedule as-is and still did a great job. On top of that, after the job, Dustin did a great job on the customer service front by following up with me on a question that I had raised -- in this instance, there was some miscommunication on my end, and despite that, Dustin still went above and beyond to make things right (for something that in all fairness was not his or his crew's fault). I would highly recommend them, and I would also suggest to anyone who, like me, doesn't really understanding the moving company, business to just talk with these guys. They shoot straight and will answer you without the hem-and-haw that you might experience from other services. There's a reason these guys have amazing reviews across the board. We had a long distance move from Dallas to Austin and everything went really well. The only reason i cant give five stars is due to a deep gash in our dining room table. It is expected that something will get dinged up in a long distance move but I did mention from the beginning that our dining room table was most important piece we were moving. read more

The sales rep stated the movers would be wearing masks and they showed up with no masks. The sales rep stated the movers were experienced in moving antiques and vintage pieces. I have moved 6 times in the last 20 years. Two of those moves were over 600 miles. Black Tie moved me 2.2 miles and caused more damage to my antiques than all of the previous 5 movers added together. When I spoke with the company I was threatened and told the movers would stay at my house until I paid up. What were they going to do? Rough me up? When I made a complaint, the customer service rep was rude and unprofessional and stated the movers only wear masks when it s requested and the sales rep was at fault. When I stated the items that were ruined are irreplaceable the customer service rep replied that I should just file a claim. I am now having to pour through all of my belongings to put together a claim which will be thousands of dollars more than I paid for the move. Also, I am disputing the charges with the credit card company. Out of 6 moves, this is the first time I have needed to file a complaint. Please beware. I hired a three man hourly crew to unload my pod. They were super fast, very professional and a nice group of guys. I moved many times and this is one of the fastest crews I've had. We were very pleased with Black Tie Moving. My husband called to schedule the move which consisted of only some of our house for a two hour drive move from east Texas to Dallas. He arranged everything with Trey. I had already packed all our times into boxes so all the 3 man crew (Raul, Ben and Kevin) had to do was load boxes and furniture and bring it to Dallas. They arrived a little late but all went smoothly. I had emailed Trey the directions to our house in the country but he did not pass that on to the crew. But with a little guidance, we were able to get them to the house. The crew was very courteous and efficient. They wrapped all the furniture and our art work with clean moving blankets and plastic wrap. Moving is a royal pain, and I hope to never have to do it again, BUT I would definitely use Black Tie Moving again and will refer friends to also use them. read more

While the men who showed up to move my belongings were in basketball shorts and Jordans, not pressed khakis and tucked in polo shirts like the picture would lead you to believe, they still did a good job. So much went wrong with our move! They were very friendly but the didn't seemed like movers. I packed 80% of our thing and I am glad I did. So many things were broken, dented, scratched and nicked. They broke a large candle and packed it anyway, I know this cause I found glass on the carpet afterward, and they broke a knob off of our dresser and threw it into a drawer, also our new dinning room table was damaged, and a picture frame was broken, another the glass was cracked down the middle. We were charged for large/jumbo boxes and they only filled them up halfway with unbreakable item and a lot of paper, and the taping up of the boxes looked like a 5 year old did it. when they were packing up the truck they dropped and kicked over boxes and laughed. They just seemed/looked like high school/college kids, not anything like there picture! When the truck was full they were done and they left, they left boxes, furniture and items not even packed yet in the front yard, garage, driveway and in the house. We packed up our two vehicles and we had to leave a lot of our things at neighbors. unpacking wasn't any better, they did ask where to put the boxes but they just put them in the middle of the room and it got so bad you couldn't even walk around, had to rearrange. We moved into a new construction and they did put something on the doors and floors but the walls got marked up and scratched. A lot of damage done and we aren't even done unpacking yet!! read more

Used a 2 man crew for a quick move in uptown from 2 bedroom apartment to 2 bedroom townhouse. The crew was efficient and mindful of my time and their schedule. I helped them out by having everything pre-boxed and in the open living room space for ease of moving. They did all the lifting and stair work with great pace. A couple items broke as expected with any move and they honored their basic coverage. Be sure to read what they cover as with any moving company as it is not as much as you would think and is based of items' weight. Otherwise, liked them and would say you should hire them. read more

Much of my personal household items were permanently damaged in my move. They refuse to pay me for my losses. I was moving from Frisco to Fort Worth, they have me on recording stating that I wanted an assisted move and the movers would arrive around noon. The movers didnt arrive until after 16:00 and I had to argue with them and their manager for about an hour about the assisted move. They brought no materials or boxes with them so I had to furnish all that myself, they didnt have tools and had to go to lowes to buy tools to disconnect my washer and dryer but they assured me that they are very careful and everything is insured so I dont have anything to worry about. The move took over 10 hours, they didnt leave my new apartment until after 2am the next day. When customer support finally contacted me back they have comped the move and will not bill me for it, and they asked me to make a list of all my damages, listing items, date acquired and weight. I didnt know until about a week later that they were only going to pay me .65 cents per pound. They stated I signed a contract that included that, however I did not sign any contract, I had the movers there who verbally told me a few things and I had to sign my name on a phone screen acknowledging that they spoke to me. Not once did they say anything about .65 cents per pound, they kept assuring me that they were fully insured and if any accidents were to happen I would be fully reimbursed! So now I have a lifetime of personal possessions costing in excess of $8500 that I have worked hard to acquire that have been thrown out due to being permanently damaged, they offered me $200 to replace it all! read more

We moved from a one bed apt in uptown to a 3 bed home in north Dallas on a Sunday. Tyler and Brandon showed up with truck and supplies before the appt time and began to work immediately and finished the job with out any damages or issues! Do NOT allow them to pack up your belongings. I used them to pack my belongings after I went through a divorce and my stuff went into storage. Well, they stole every single one of my Gucci purses and my daughters Gucci diaper bag I was saving for her for when she had children. They dragged my mattress up three flights of stairs without a mattress bag. The mattress I can deal with the purses and diaper bag is not acceptable. They were not supposed to move the box in the first place but said they did and it was in the back behind all of my heavy stuff in storage. I trusted them and even tipped them. I moved from Benbrook Texas to Dallas Texas, this company was highly recommended by my realtor. I am 100% disabled veteran and need is a good mover to move my three bedroom two bath house. These guys were mostly OK, however they left a lot of stuff at my old house and when I did the walk-through, with my landlord I discovered a lot of stuff that was left behind. So I had to get someone to get it out of there for me. I did call the mover and they wanted to come out later that day to get it. However, I had to be out that day and did not have the time to stay there all day while they came out. These movers are better than most that I've used, but I expected a little better due to my disability and inability to pack things myself. read more

The movers were very slow. They tried to take up as much time as possible. They were carrying minimal things at a time and walking very slow. I myself and my friend had to do most of the heavy lifting for loading and unloading. I just had them leave everything at the door and my friend and I moved everything in to the apartment. I do not recommend using black tie moving. read more

Blacktie Moving got our items moved without anything getting damaged thanks to the two men paying attention to the details, however I was not pleased with the promises given to me over the phone when I originally called to set up the move... Was told that they used a special truck that helps prevent shock to high end electronics like a 75" 4K TV and they showed up with a trailer that looked like it had been through a war zone and found out that it actually had been through a tornado!!! Was supposed to have a move time window between 11:00am to 1:00pm, but they told me that it would be between 8am to 9:00am which screws up our schedule for the day too. Was also told that they estimated about two hours @ $99.00 per hour, but ended up taking 4 hours total. Overall the move was successful, but when I saw the trailer they used I was sweating bullets! read more

These Pictures don't begin to explain how horrendous and stressful this Move was all due to poor communication within the Company. I specially gave careful details of move & confirmed details again at end of 1st day with Cole, he admitted he received these instructions when order was placed. We had total of 2,901 Sq Ft to move They arrived with a 24 foot truck totally inadequate size for a move this big. They made 3-4 trips to and from Mesquite to Plano running up charges. We were supposed to have mored in 1 day due to closing on both our homes. That didn't happen & their own crew stated it could have been done in a day. After end of 1st Day the crew asked for payment I refused because they did not complete the job. They were told when it was completed they would be paid. I then received a call from Fabian stating they would be calling the Police & charging me with Theft of Services I refused again and told him when job completed he would get paid. During the entire mess never once were the Supervisor or Owner cared about our situation & we would have to postpone a Closing on one of our properties all they kept saying is "Put yourself in my shoes" referring to fact that mistakes are human and they were sorry but still wanted payment before finishing move. I have posted just a small capsule of the way they left our home. The crew didn't even know how to move a Refrigerator and I had to show the young man how to remove footing & handles even after that I ended up with my extra garage Refrigerator in my kitchen and new Refrigerator in garage. One crew member was rude and refused to properly pack shoes in master closet. My husband and I ended up packing that closet ourselves. We were changed for shrink wrap and boxes most of which already belong to us. They provided very few but nonetheless we paid for their boxes and shrink wrap and we had 2 new rolls of this as well. Beware of the extra charges your not told about when you order services. I'm 64 years old and due to my husband's profession we have made numerous moves even across Country and Never in all these years have we been treated like criminals or experienced such poor service in moving. If you hire this company just know your service will NOT be professional it will be same as a Day Labor job. Our total cost was outrageous for a local move with very little packing. It cost us $4,472.56 We had expected around $2,000 based on the hourly rate. My advice to anyone use another well known well established professional and never agree to pay an hourly rate. Have company come see your home and give you a total price otherwise you will end up being taken advantage of. This review isn't our last move. This move will end up in small claims Court. My experience with Black Tie Moving was a bit of a disappointment. It was my first time hiring a professional moving service, as I am very particular about my things. I would normally elect to move myself with the help of my father and trusted friends, but I have accumulated a few heavy pieces since my last move and, after careful consideration and research, thought I'd try Black Tie Moving due to the good reviews. My reservation experience was great over the phone. The two people with whom I spoke were very kind and thorough in explaining all of the details, however I had to call back the next day because I never received my confirmation email. Come to find out, my appointment was mistakenly never confirmed. Thankfully they still had an opening for my preferred time, but I hate to think had I not called back I that no one would have shown up on my moving day. Well come day of, I got a call from one of the movers to say, without apology, that they'd be there about 9:15am even though they were supposed to arrive between 8-9am. They did arrive by 9:15am, but by the time they began any work it was 9:30am, so I had already paid $40 to basically sign paperwork and show them around my apartment. Then, when I mentioned the piano was part of the items to be moved, the guy said he would recommend a "piano mover", to which I replied I had already confirmed one, but cancelled it because the Black Tie reservationist assured me they could move an upright piano and added a third guy to the job specifically for that reason. They agreed to move it, but my father and I had to help them down the stairs. Furthermore, many of my boxes were marked "FRAGILE", but I don't feel there was any additional care provided to these items. For example, one of the boxes was clearly labeled as delicate glassware with the fragile marking and I discovered another box placed on top of it when they were loading the truck. I specifically asked one of the guys to remove the item on top and not to place anything else on that box. Well later when they were unloading at the new place, someone had set a box of heavy BOOKS on top of it (which were also clearly labeled, mind you)! When we started to the new place, I followed behind the truck. The driver went faster over speed bumps and on small, bumpy city streets than I would have preferred (especially with a valuable piano aboard). At one intersection the traffic light turned yellow, but the driver proceeded through the light anyway. The back left tire hit the median and caused the truck to sway heavily from side to side. They immediately pulled into the corner gas station parking lot. I waited behind them for a minute before pulling up beside the driver to see why they had stopped (suspecting something had fallen over). The driver said they were putting the address in the GPS and then would be stopping for gas and drinks. First, why would they not have already filled up with gas and come with refreshments to start the job, especially when the customer is paying by the quarter hour? Secondly, I believe I was lied to since one of the guys got out and opened the back to survey the items that had shifted as a result of hitting the curb and they never did stop for fuel or drinks. About 10 billable minutes later, we were back on the road. When we arrived to the new place, I noticed a chair and a box had fallen down. The box contained four wine glasses marked FRAGILE. Three of them snapped at the stem. While unloading, one of the guys hit a mirror on the ceiling when starting up the stairs (gratefully no damage occurred). My dresser, media console and nightstand were all turned completely upside down in spite of having been told by the reservationist I could leave items in the drawers and then again telling the movers that there were items in the drawers. I had to disassemble two of the pieces in order to get things out which had fallen behind the drawers, refold all of the clothes in my dresser and reorganize the items in my nightstand and desk (which I didn't think had even been turned upside down). My sofa ended up with a footlong scratch on the top. In the end, it took 4.25 hours to move one bedroom, a living room, a kitchen and a piano when I had been given an estimate for 3 hours. Everything was fully packed when they arrived. My father observed them from the second level of the parking garage down at the truck casually talking amongst one another and to the ladies passing by without working about five minutes, so I don't believe they were good stewards of my time. Lastly, I noticed on my bill that I was charged a $19.96 "convenience fee" and $44.50 for packing materials. I was not informed about either of these charges in advance and was specifically told by the reservationist that the truck, blankets and furniture wrap were included in the $159 base charge. So after paying upwards of $900 including tips, I regret to say I would not use Black Tie Moving again, nor would I recommend it to anyone read more

Local in town move, across town. They were 15 minutes early. All were extremely polite and took great care of our things. I don't think they ever even bumped into a doorway or wall one time despite moving out of a 2 story house. Excellent communication. All workers are employees of the company! This is not normally the case with movers. Usually they hire day labors or all the companies just use a pool of people, which reduces the company's accountability. Make sure you supervise the items being moved and check your furniture after it has been unloaded. The bad: almost every piece that was moved had some sort of damage to it. Corners dinged, scratched leather, wall damage, paint chipped, some black stains on furniture, etc. Some of the damage wasn't discovered until later on and they won't budge on talking to you about it. I had a number of issues during the move (dropped boxes right in front of me, things put in the wrong rooms even though clearly labeled, the front door was not wrapped and was damaged, some nice wood furniture had tape put directly on the nice finished surface). On top of that, I contacted the owner who did none of the things he promised to try to 'make it right.' The lead mover was confrontational on top of all of that. Not only would I never use them again, but I would advise that YOU DO NOT use this moving service. Save yourself the trouble and find a company that will treat your things with the same care that you do. read more

We thought that Black Tie Moving Services would be held responsible for damages but to our surprise a 3rd party insurance company has shuffled us around for the past 2 weeks since our move. The MOVERS ARE DISRESPECTFUL of both your PROPERTY and PLACE OF RESIDENCE. AWFUL JOB of WRAPPING, SECURING and TRANSPORTING our valuable belongings. If you truly care about your stuff I WOULD RUN. They look good on paper but everything is a LIE. I have used Black Tie in the past and they did great. But not this time. Probably won't use them again. This was moving stuff from the garage to the house and moving some stuff from the house to the garage. Did not expect it to take anywhere near the two hour minimum so I asked the movers to take their time and not ding up the walls and trim since the house was just remodeled. Well, they didn't. They put three dings in the walls and one in the trim that I have seen, and left many smudge marks on the walls from brushing up against them. I guess one of them had a dirty shirt. They finished in a little over an hour and since it was a two hour minimum, it cost me a lot for one hour, right at $300. And then I had to do cleaning and repair work on my walls. And the movers also told me that they accepted tips for their hard work, even though this was an easy job. read more
