Wow. My wife and I found our way last week to Wallace for a short getaway and to the Blackboard Cafe for dinner. She had been to the Blackboard with the kids last year and had a great lunch, so it was an easy call to give the dinner menu a try. Best Turkey sandwich ever!!!! Our tour group picked up take out lunch here and I had the turkey sandwich. I was pleasantly surprised how delicious it tasted. I notice it had a special sauce on top with bits of bacon. When I got back to our hotel, I called the restaurant to find out what the sauce was. They told me it was maple bourbon bacon marmalade. We had just finished the Hiawatha trail bike ride and were dressed less than elegantly. When choosing between available fare in Wallace we were tempted by several good restaurants The blackboard has a sandwich menu at lunchtime and an extensive Italian dinner menu. We walked into the small polished space and were greeted by the co-owner. She and her chef husband provided a wonderful meal we won't soon forget. Wow this place is amazing! On a Tuesday almost all of the nicer restaurants in Kellogg and Wallace were closed. Luckily I had heard great things about this cafe and they were open! It is small and I suggest making a reservation. We had the fettuccine chicken alfredo, chicken parmesan, chicken marsala, and the meatballs. It was amazing, rich, and oh so delicious! What a gem Wallace has in this restaurant! Eight of us had dinner here last Saturday and we all were so happy with our meals. A couple of us asked for variations on the menu items and, because there's a chef in the kitchen, all of our requests were not only possible, but were produced beautifully. And the décor is downright fun (with the big blackboard that the owner has decorated with artwork and pithy sayings). Service was prompt and personal and what I thought was a disaster turned out to be a gift when they ran out of the cream puffs for dessert and offered me the peach mousse instead. My taste buds were elated! If you're in Wallace go to the Blackboard for dinner. Delicious. It is a small and intimate space so consider reservations - especially for a group. I haven't had lunch there yet so can't comment on the sandwiches. read more

I wanted Italian and I saw their sign that says they do Italian. I checked them out on Yelp. The reviews were good. I decided to give them a try. I started with Caesar salad. The dressing makes or breaks the salad. One of the best dressing I have ever had. Main disk was spaghetti with meat sauce. The spaghetti was cooked to perfection. The sauce had plenty of meat and spices. I give it a "A". For dessert they asked if I wanted tiramisu. I expected something they bought from the store. It turned out to be their version of tiramisu. I ate it all. It was a very good way to end a very nice dinner. read more
