Stopped by here on the way back from a hike near Mullan. Restaurant has a great vibe and service was excellent. But the star was the ribeye sandwich my wife and I both ordered. The sandwich is shaved ribeye, cheese, and some other accompaniments--and is absolutely delicious. Didn't try any other sandwich but if they are even close to as good as good as ribeye then they will be excellent too. Highly recommend. read more

In the middle of nowhere, in northern Idaho I tripped over this little café with my family. Everything about it was a great experience. I judge a restaurant not just by how well they cook but how will they handle their failures. I ordered spaghetti with sausage meatballs for my three young boys and the sausage meatballs came out way too spicy for them to eat. The restaurant staff was absolutely amazing, And offered about three other options for my kids. Everything my wife and I had was spectacular, the wine was great and not too expensive and they had some really great desserts as well. This is a restaurant you expect to find in Seattle and I'm glad to see little Wallace Idaho has something of this caliber when I come visit. read more

We had dinner in this tiny unassuming place. The food was fabulous. I would say it is the best we have had since returning from Italy! The mushroom and crostini appetizer is a must have and the chicken piccatta was devine. The food was great, bit the dining area is small and very noisy. Looked Like an awesome place. People were very polite as they told us they wouldn't serve my family because it was too big. We have 7 children so we were a party of 9. There was already a party of 14 in the restaurant as well as multiple others.I told them We could break into two parties of 5 and 4 and they said it was too many people. I asked them about the other party of 4 waiting in front of us and they said they were already waiting. I asked for a manager and the owner was called in. I explained to him I didn't understand telling us you won't serve us rather than just give us the expected wait and let us decide if we were willing to wait. He fixed the issue and apologized after acting put out and explaining he wasn't working and it "really isn't my thing". Then my daughter informed me before he walked in he walked past her and exclaimed "they are really F***ing pissing me off". I was very cordial, and only walked in to take my family out to dinner. What I found was inept people who don't know how to run a restaurant, manage a rush, or be just plain normal. I'm sure a party of two walking in will have an entirely different experience. But this is who your dealing with. I called back as a courtesy and told them they could take our name off the wait. My wife felt very unwelcome and we decided our $200 plus dollars would go down the street where we were welcomed with open arms at muchachos tacos. read more

Highly recommended and rightfully so. Enjoyed dinner on a Monday evening with only a few others in attendance. Decor is interesting and artfully done. Food was very surprisingly exceptional in such a small town. Chicken piccata was tender, flavorful and not at all overpowering. It would have easily held its own across the country in areas where obtaining staffing, produce and clientele are much, much easier. We found this great little sandwich shop enroute to Coeur d'Alene for a late afternoon wedding. I noticed the highway sign and liked the name. It was on the main Street and easy to find. True to its name, one wall was a large blackboard with fun quotes. My husband and I both thought the food and service were excellent. Since I am GF, the server recommended an ahi tuna sandwich served on romaine lettuce as they don't have GF bread. It was great! We will definitely return. read more

I wish I hadn't been in such a hurry to eat and I would have taken a couple of photos. But we've eaten here before and are always ready to dive in no matter what we ordered. I can honestly say there's nothing we've eaten here that was not top notch and served with a delightful smile and relaxed attitude. I'm a stickler about the lettuce in salads and always notice if there are some sad, limp bits thrown in from days earlier. The salads here are uniformly crisp and fresh. And the scampi: oy! There are limited tables so take a minute and get a reservation or just show up and sit at the bar. We ski during the day and can't wait to wind up having yet another memorable meal here. read more

The worst dining experience ever! The reason for this wasn't because of the food, the reason was because of the waitress! We were there on Labor Day and still can't get over our experience. Granted it was very busy and the waitress was "alone" as she said she always was, but the lack of professionalism and rudeness she exhibited to most of the customers was unreal! We stopped in and asked for the table by the window since the couple were just leaving. She said come back in 10' and we can have it. When we returned there was already people seated at the table!! She did seat us elsewhere and gave me a look like, oh well. As the evening continued she continued to do this to several other people, she had quite the game going. Her main focus was on the 3 men seated at the bar. She was very rude to a couple who had waited and returned and waited politely again. When they sat down she immediately went to them and asked loudly what they wanted... like it was a diner! Most of the food looked great, I ordered the Carbonara that had only pasta and cheese. I had them hold the bacon, but there wasn't even one caper, very cheesy. The ambience is very nice and loved the Beatles song on the Blackboard. Delicious!! Went for dinner when Italian is the main focus of the menu. A lovely glass of Pinot Grigio for me and a stout on draft for my husband. We had the artichoke with garlic aioli, chicken piccata over linguini and the spaghetti and meatballs. All mouthwatering! Spaghetti sauce has a nice little kick to it that my hubby loved, and the chicken breast in the piccata was moist, tender and flavorful. Topped things off with a cool and creamy elderberry pot de creme. The server, wife of the chef, was pleasant and efficient. She was also the creator of the chalk art on the blackboard (thus the restaurant's name) that runs the length of one of the walls in this narrow eatery. The art theme when we dined there was Alice in Wonderland. Very cute! Great food, excellent service and a casually elegant ambiance (crystal chandeliers!) make this a must try when in Wallace! read more

Ordered coffee, pretty sure it was boiling water and instant, then the summer salad -this was good but I think they left the balsamic vinegar out and it was warm-who served warm salad. Anyway, since it's my birthday I ordered the $32 ribeye and Italian potatoes. YUCK! The steak was undercooked and gamey and the potatoes looked and tasted like they were from a few days ago. Husband had the fish and chips that had so much batter on it and was dripping with grease. Just yuck. The server kinda argued with me when I told her the steak wasn't done enough. I was not expecting the level of delicious Italian food that was served here. My husband and I both got lasagna, and I decided it's the tastiest lasagna I've ever eaten. The serving size was huge and we stuffed ourselves. If there was a negative, we would have loved more of their crusty bread, but honestly, I could not have fit it in. Dinner on 9/23/20. Is there a possibility the garlic bread NOT be placed directly upon the spaghetti bolegnese and chicken picante? When it sits on the order up counter and not immediately given to the customer the bread soaks up the liquid in the food. Who likes soggy garlic bread? Would think that concept would already be established. read more
