Taverna has been on my wish list for while and made the trip up from Spokane for an early dinner tonight and glad I did. All I have to say is go.... Go immediately! Some of the best pasta I've had out in a long time and very generous portions. You can upgrade to their in house made pasta, don't skip out on that. We tried the chicken Parmesan, super tender chicken and a very well balanced and seasoned marinara. And also tried the Tucson shrimp pasta... OMG! Lemon, garlic, sun dried tomatoes, capers, artichokes OH MY! Space is small so make a reservation if you are traveling from afar. Super charming interior, fast and friendly staff! read more

I'm not sure what happened tonight. A friend recommended this place but it did not meet expectations. We went out of our way to visit. Our food took forever. Our waitress seemed overly engaged in other duties. And the chicken piccata was subpar & tiny, way too much lemon & capers. Our entire evening was two hours and it was 2 of us. She acknowledged the wait, apologized and comp'd the drinks but people need to be aware. She said the chef was out for awhile and the owner took over. Maybe not the best decision. Hubby enjoyed the Short Rib special. They ran out of the fresh halibut so I opted for one of the four pasta dishes they had; chicken piccata. Way too many capers! I found it interesting this is advertised as an Italian restaurant with so few pasta choices.Took a long time to get our check despite numerous staff tending to tables and guests. We had such a great experience. You could tell there is so much attention put into the quality of their food and drinks. The fish of the week was cioppino which is something we've only been able to find in San Francisco and I hope they keep this on their rotation for us to have again. The meatball appetizer and chicken piccata are also a must. The old fashioned did not disappoint as well as the panna cotta for dessert. We will definitely be coming back for their family style dinner on Wednesdays as well as the prime rib dinner on Fridays. By far the best Italian food we've had in North Idaho! read more

Delicious Ti-pasta, had enough left over for the next 3 nights. Once before I tried their lasanga and it was amazing. I am attempting to make a reservation for tomorrow at 4:30 please, this is a first date for us. Rick can't leave his 2 dogs in Coeurd'alene for more than 4 hours and we plan on taking a walk through Farragut, rain or shine. When I pulled up to make a reservation, it said 6 pm was the earliest. please Rick has never eaten here before and like I above said, this is our 1st date... Server name was excellent! Each food dish was outstanding and prepared and played so well. The crab cakes were awesome. Service was top notch, with attentive waitstaff and owners busy making sure guests were being serviced well. Our water server was excellent keeping plates bussed and glasses topped off on a very warm evening. The portions were fantastic - we walked away full and satisfied. Great service, excellent food, better people. Go to Taverna soon. Get a table inside, or even better, out on the back patio with the Monarch Mountains standing sentinel over the lake. This place is AMAZING! If you have not been here run don't walk!! I have eaten in some amazing restaurants in Europe and the US and I don't think I have had halibut this well prepared ever before! The pairings of flavors are to die for. In addition the servers were all so friendly. Amazing food and down to earth people. The atmosphere is well done. Homey but elegant. The last night in town we wanted to come back. We thought about driving up to Sandpoint but decided we would not find anything better than here. The kitchen had closed as its off season but the kitchen agreed to give us a pizza. The waitress brought the chef out who insisted on bringing out not only one but all their desserts on the house for supporting them. If you have not tried this place you need to!!! read more

Hands down the WORST spaghetti & meatballs I've EVER had! As well the pasta carbonara was TERRIBLE w/ big fatty gross hunks of guanciale ( I believe because it wasn't bacon or pancetta. ) Our to go order was $50 including the tip for carry out.... For 2 meals that literally went into the garbage... The server was detached & just rang up the order & away we went. Shocked is not an overstatement for how we felt opening the bag of food at home. Let me state I grew up in a restaurant family, I know the struggles, financially & otherwise... & I don't give a 1 star lightly... but this " Italian " joint deserves it... I was so mad about how bad the food was I decided to make my OWN PASTA CARBONARA the next day! I bought fresh fettuccine ( bc Walmart didn't have fresh spaghetti or linguine ) & parmigiana Reggiani from Trader Joe's ... I should have taken a photo of this restaurant's carbonara but I was so upset having to throw it away & then decided to take a picture of the worst of the two ...the over cooked tasteless tough meatballs with ANGEL HAIR PASTA (?? ) I tried to warm it up on the stove... but gave up bc it was so disgusting... zoom in on picture.. I also included a photo of MY PASTA CARBONARA I made that my husband gave 5 stars for taste & mouth feel.... We will never return to this joint, buy your ingredients at your favorite grocery store ..& save $40 ...... The chicken parm was just awful, the breast was thick, dry & hard to chew, and the "sauce".....if you can call it that, was disgusting. Taverna is a great new dining destination in Bayview, Idaho. Featuring what I'd consider "modern Italian" cuisine, the varied menu features fresh seafood (we had perfectly prepared Halibut), steaks, handmade pasta (also had crab tagliatelle-so yum!), and pizza along with great appetizers and desserts! I personally recommend their delicious crab cakes but we still have many more things to try in the future. With a laid-back and airy vibe, you'll instantly feel at home. Service is excellent, and the food is really exceptional! Choose a fun cocktail from their upscale bar, or opt for a bottle of wine at your table. In summer, entertain friends on their outdoor patio with a view of the lake. This place is definitely worth the drive from Coeur d'Alene, Sandpoint, or even Spokane. Let's work backwards on this one, the carbonara was one of the worst tasting carbonaras I have ever had, the sauce was disgusting and the noodles were over cooked. Their pizza oven was down so you couldn't order 1/3 of the menu. I had to go find my waitress to get more water, they serve water in 6-8oz glasses, give people a larger glass. There were only 3 other tables being used when we were there, so it was not busy. No bread when you sit down. FRUTTI DI MARE tasted old, the seafood in it was definitely not fresh. We had a pasta, the halibut, and a few appetizers. All well prepared and flavorful. Cocktails were just fine. Beware: It's a very small venue, best to have reservations. We did not have reservations, we were offered patio seating which we took. Unfortunately patio seating does not offer the entire menu, just pizza and appetizers - disappointing. We did stay and ordered both but pizza came out 45 minutes after pizza!! Service was not great - we felt like 2nd class! The food was ok. Not sure we'd even go back w reservations. read more
