Full disclosure: when I looked at this place on Yelp and saw the pictures - and there discovered numerous pictures of burger buns that had been "branded" with the name of the place, my first thought was - "That's kinda interesting" and then I thought that it was possibly one of those places that had a nice hook or gimmick (throwing peanut shells on the floor.....anyone?) that got you through the door but then everything after that was very above average. Glad I worked past my issues, noticed a few strong reviews and took the plunge. What a GREAT spot... cool vibe, great selection on tap, strong range of choices in spirits (e.g., Bourbon), lots of menu choices without being overwhelming. Clearly - the burgers are the headline act here so - if you're a gourmet burger snob - you need to get over here. Like yesterday. A number of choices had me trapped in a sea of indecision when - after I consulted with our server - she pointed me in the direction of a burger with - I'm not kidding - peanut butter and jelly and bacon - among other things. And the clouds parted, and a ray of light highlighted my choice. I wrangled with my skepticism and finally ordered what is absolutely the best burger I've had this year. Maybe even last year too. Oh my gosh. Now I have a SERIOUS dilemma because WHEN I come back I will be torn between getting that again and venturing out to try another intriguing possibility. Not that it needed it but the truffled Parmesan fries pushed the meal from amazing to ridiculous. Great, great meal. Wonderful flavors. Cool atmosphere. Terrific servers and EASY on the wallet...... The one plus about this place was the great draught beer selection. I was able to customize my flight on how many and what size. The food was not great. The artichoke dip was good, but the menu was so small. There wasn't really anything else I wanted to try. My sister got some chicken strips. They were over cooked and not enough sauce. I'd come back to drink but not to eat. read more

Passing through town, we found BB online. Our server's boyfriend was enjoying his dinner and that was her prime focus. It was late on a Monday, so I don't really fault anyone on the service. As for the food? It's called Blackened Brew, so I figured the kitchen understood the concept of Blackened. I ordered a blacked tuna salad with extra blackening seasoning while requesting the meat be served medium. Unfortunately, the extra blackening translated to the kitchen as "cook as much as possible" and I was served an inedible piece of fish. Atmosphere was college bar-ish and the fried pickles were the only redeeming quality of my experience. And they really weren't very good. read more

We went on the second anniversary special burger release day. I couldn't indulge in a burger, but they has bison, camel,and ostrich that day. I had a bite of the camel and it was amazingly awesome. I, on the other hand, had the grilled tuna salad, and it was awesome. It was seared to perfection. The beer list is perfection and I have heard they have pretty great rotating selections. I look forward to coming out to have some good times here again soon! read more

We visited today for the first time since BB moved to the new location. Our waitress, Jade, was very friendly and even gave us personal recommendations on local favorite kingcakes. You MUST get a pretzel with the mustard and beer cheese. We both ordered burgers and truffle fries. Food came quickly and was hot and delicious! Visited recently on a Friday night. Sat and the bar and ordered a the signature burger with truffle fries. Food took approx 25 minutes to be served burger was OK if somewhat small, the fries were limp and barely room temperature. My bill of $44 with tip for this and two beers was way overpriced. Disappointing most likely will not return. read more

The OMG burger is OMG good. I've also had the coffee rub burger off the brunch menu, don't be frightened by the name coffee, it's damn good. Brussel sprouts 10/10. Always have knowledgeable servers here. Great ambience on the water. read more

Burger and beer bar located in downtown Hammond. You can choose to dine in at a table or sit by the bar. I'll start with the beer selection. They have a great selection of beers, local and around the world. If you are looking craft or specialty beers this is your place. The menu is centered around burgers with a good selection of appetizers and sandwiches. I had the Cheese Please burger which had several types of cheeses on top of a delicious medium rare burger patty. The bun was a brioche bun and very tasty. Burgers are served with fries. We had the stuffed meatballs for an appetizer which were ok. I think next time I will try the chicken livers and pepper jelly. The service was fast and friendly. Prices are very reasonable. Stumbled across this awesome gastro-pub on our way home from Galveston. And so glad we did!! It's in an older section of downtown with lots of bars & restaurants. Thankfully it wasn't to crowded & we got seated right away. It was so hard to decide what to get because everything sounded so good! I finally decided on the 'Whiskey, Tango & Foxtrot' burger with the recommended Porter. The burger was fabulous with the pimento cheese, whiskey glaze, bacon & grilled onions, My daughter had the 'Blueberry Hill burger' and was very happy with it. She let me taste it & it was delicious!! The hubs had the burger of the month 'The bacon Brie Madonna'. OMG !!! It was good!! Along with the scrumptious burgers we also enjoyed the Parmesan truffle fries, which did not disappoint. The only bad thing I can say about this place is I filled up really fast. But that's not a bad thing when the food was as good as here. Highly recommend Blackened & Brew if your looking for a good burger with a bit of unusual because this place certainly knows how to do it right!! read more

The atmosphere is so cool. Good music and lots of different beers. We went early Saturday morning when it wasn't packed. Their menu consists of burgers with fancy ingredients. I got the OMG burger which is wagyu beef, carmelized onions, fig preserve, and white cheddar cheese. I loved the sweet and salty balance. The onion rings were perfect. My boyfriend got the truffle Mac and cheese burger. The macaroni was cheesy and good. No strong truffle flavor. The fries were okay. Our meal was about $40 with tip which is pretty pricey for lunch but we were stuffed. We will definitely back to try some more of the uniqueness! read more

Amazing burgers! I got the sliders to try different kinds and they were all so tasty! My favorite was the bee's knees burger, but the Korean BBQ burger was a close second. Their truffle fries were so so worth it! And their BBQ pulled pork nachos were to die for! I would have included a picture but they were gone in 3 minutes. The staff was very friendly and attentive! Food is better than it was at their previous location, and I didn't think I could've gotten any better! Service was great. Atmosphere 15/10. The outdoor seating by the future brewery is so nice. Also, pup friendly. Can't wait to come back. Only complaint is it's been a three hour wait every time we've visited so we have to make reservations. I have been going to Blackend Brew a couple of times a month since I moved to Hammond about 1.5 years ago, and I don't think I will go anymore after they have made recent changes. A few things have happened that I and others have noticed: 1. The burgers are significantly smaller now than what there were (8oz to 6oz I believe). The burgers are much smaller now that they have to use smaller buns and their classic (and really cool) stamp that they put on the buns just don't fit on the smaller buns. 2. Fries are no longer included with burgers or sandwiches and most other things on the menu. You can order wayyy too many fries and pay an extra $4ish dollars (i think) for the fry basket. I know me and several of my friends just want a nice handful of fries to go with our burgers like any normal (good) burger restaurant. I want to say maybe there worst part of this policy is that there doesn't seem to be any (or at least any significant) change in price of the burgers and sandwiches even though you are no longer receiving a significant and delicious part of the meal. 3. I and other have only had this experience a time or two, but it seems like the burgers aren't cooked to the same quality recently. Two friends asked for "medium" burgers and received them "well done". This would seem to be a easily fixable problem, but is kind of exacerbated by the other negative changes. Blackened Brew seems to be cutting corners recently for whatever reason, and me and my friend group (10-15 people) who frequented the place rather often have had several conversations about how disappointing our recent experiences have been. Blackend Brew's 2020 motto seems to be, "Smaller burgers, no fries, same prices". I hope changes are made to bring the place back to its former glory, I really have loved the place and recommended it to people in the past, but will not do so anymore. read more

This place was unexpectedly different. My sister recommended that we try it after my daughter's All-Star playoff game (celebrating the win, whoop whoop). I ordered the Mac & Cheese burger, my brother in law ordered the PB&J burger and my sister ordered the Korean BBQ w/ kimchi burger. We split all three burgers and each tried a piece. We ordered them medium. They were so good!! The PB&J worked all together and I tasted the peanut butter more than the jelly. The Mac & cheese had bacon on it too and it was the perfect amount. I don't care for kimchi so my sister ordered it on the side. The Korean sauce had a hint of spice but it wasn't spicy at all! We started with the jalapeño curds and you could barely taste the jalapeño but the taste was perfect and not spicy. Overall it was a great lunch!! read more

Woah, what happened to this place? Let me start by saying that we loved this place last time and ordered the same items. We placed our order and 5 minutes later our waitress returned saying they were out of Turkey burgers. Since we only order our usuals we needed a minute to look at the menu. Before we even finished reading the second burger on the menu, one of the cooks started yelling out of the window while staring at us saying "What is taking so long? Where the h*** is she? What is she doing?" (referring to the waitress). Three different cooks stared through the window looking very aggravated making it very uncomfortable. So even though it was their mistake that they didn't prep enough turkey burgers, they placed the blame on the server and guest for not getting back to them quickly enough. Hmmm I understand it's the back of the house but wow. Now on to the food: First up was our 1/2 order of pork nachos. Half of our nachos had no cheese on it whatsoever yet was really heavy on the bbq sauce. I'm not sure how you can call it nachos without the cheese though. The pork had great flavor but the bbq sauce was way overpowering so we didn't really enjoy it. Very diffident experience than last time. Second was our burgers. Both of the burger patties were of good quality but were lacking in seasoning. If they were seasoned a little more then these would have been really good. Our garlic truffle Parmesan fries were flavorless which is surprising since you have garlic, truffle and Parmesan on them. How does that even happen?? The truffle Mac and cheese was okay but definitely not worth my calories, especially when it is visibly sitting in two tablespoons worth of grease. On the plus side, our server was really sweet. When she asked us how our food was she was as genuinely surprised as we were at the lack of flavor. We are crossing our fingers this was an isolated incident and the cooks were just having a rough night. Not that a rough night would excuse it but we all have bad days. We will give them another chance and hope this is not a regular occurrence. read more

Would not eat here. Casual cow Burger tasted bad and bled all over the plate. I think I almost heard a moo. Pretty much killed my appetite. The brews here must have affected all these 5 star reviews. Maybe I should have had some alcohol. My husband eats anything. He only ate half of his burger. I love fries but didn't even eat all of mine. Tasted old. Let me tell what a difference a server can make. My last trip there was my first and only Yelp review ever and it was only one star and the server was the worst. Today we had dinner and drinks (thanks for being open during Covid) we had the most bubbly most attentive most unbelievable server I've ever had in my life in Casual dining. Autumn needs to be duplicated so she can work in one of the 12 restaurants I personally run. I am opening and admittedly a pain in the ass and very hard to impress when it comes to dining. Autumn killed it and my party and myself couldn't and can't say enough about her. Beer list - awesome Menu - delicious Atmosphere - perfect bar hangout I had the Cluck Norris sandwich best name and best chicken sandwich I have EVER had! Friend chicken tenders with honey chipotle and bell peppers. Sounds weird but soooo good. The bartender was awesome and she's the one who recommended it. The beer list is long and versatile. I had a gnarly barley peanut butter korova porter that was AMAZING. And the Paradise imperial stout, which was pretty awful but I'm from where it's brewed so had to try it. This accidental encounter because I was just turning around off the highway has turned me into a long time customer. I'll drive the 45 min and I'll be back! read more
