This is a new restaurant/bar that just opened up in Terminal C about a week ago. The whiskey selection is pretty basic right now, but I was informed that they are working on their selection. Melissa was my bartender and she is wonderful! She's friendly, attentive, and so cheerful. A really nice place to hang out if you're waiting around for your flight. I usually always stop in here to grab a quick aviation cocktail since usually in this terminal for my flights. The service is always good and the staff is friendly and quick. Haven't tried the food maybe next time, it's got a cool display and good look to it. They were out of luxardo cherries for their $18 cocktails which to me should be half price, the only reason you drink an aviation cocktail is for the luxardo cherries! Do I start with the limited vision of management or the rudeness of the server? We left without even ordering. This restaurant like most at IAH have personal ordering systems at every seat in the restaurant. I see the potential for this to make things more efficient, especially at the airport. But that's the end of the benefits. The server, if you can really call them that, was quick to inform us that we order on the iPad. After trying to place an order we tried unsuccessfully to get their attention while they huddled at the bar. Once I finally got one of their attention, instead of just coming over, she kinda asked what I wanted event though she couldn't hear me over the music and when I motioned for her to come over she started with the attitude! Body language spoke volumes, but just in ase I couldn't understand her frustration with me, she vocalized with such attitude that she was sorry should could not hear me. My question was why were the sides not all listed for purchase since we know they are available. For example, if you order a BBQ platter you can choose two sides. But if you select the menu option for sides, you can only choose fires or some frito garbage. If you order a burger you HAVE TO get fries. You cannot even purchase a different side like green beans, which they have. When we asked she said she asked manager and he said he didn't know and it wasn't possible. Why would a restaurant buy food that it didn't want to sell? This is just mind blowing how ignorant that sounds. After further conversation, I found that the food doesn't even come from their kitchen. It comes from the food court. She told me I could go there and order and bring it back if I wanted to buy alcohol. When did hospitality get so bad? Is this our new future of dining out? Computers, rude servers, managers who REFUSE revenue? It's just all makes for a horrible experience. We went to the restaurant around the corner where we had amazing service, Landrys Seafood. We spent much more money there and have no regrets. The food at Landrys was great, the service was even better! Absolutely no comparison to Black Hat. Thankfully Landrys has plenty of whiskey! read more

Tablets to order were not working, had to be moved to another table and also sid not work, had to get help. Besides been small serving, the bread was cold and burger was warm. Jeez. How to completely screw up a great wine bar. We usually stopped here when flying out but not now. The new owners revamped it into a whiskey bar and installed iPads to order everything. Drinks with no prices listed until you have ordered. What BS is that? The staff can't help as they don't know the menu since they don't see it. You have to swipe your credit card yourself and the staff bring you an over-priced drink. A whiskey bar is where you discuss with the staff the different types of whiskey, prices, tastes and have fun with it. No fun here so move along. Bartender (female, dark features) was incredibly rude to me when I asked a simple question ("do you have any Blanton's for sale?"). When I confronted her about her "rudeness", she proceeded to tell me that I was rude to her because I didn't tell her how my day was going... really? This is an interesting place. It's based on a self service platform but you still have to rely on a server to bring your drinks and food. The food isn't that bad but has to be brought from another location for the most part. Our poor server was by himself and the restaurant got busy. Needless to say everything started falling apart at that point. Our credit card machines were not functioning rendering the self service aspect useless. The server had to think on how to take our order without all of the tech at the table. By the time we all finished our food, which took just over 30 minutes to arrive, the server finally had extra people helping him. It was still amusing to see the backup people try and catch up the rest of the restaurant. Seems they were just as flustered as we were. This concept is possible but there still needs to be more than one person running the floor. If you're in a hurry make sure there is more than one person working. read more

I'm not a whiskey drinker so I can't comment on that, but I will comment on the food and service. The waitress was very bubbly and attentive as soon as I sat down. I ordered wine and the bartender brought a nice size little carafe. The wine was good and the bartender, friendly. He also brought me a glass of water that I forgot to ask for but he must have been reading my mind. The food and presentation left A LOT to be desired. I ordered brisket with 2 sides. One side was salad; they were out of salad and substituted roasted corn. I'm not sure where the food was coming from. It didn't seem like they have a kitchen. Something seemed weird. They served brisket with a plastic fork and knife?!?!? It was pretty difficult to cut with plastic ware. It was also a bit dry so the small plastic cup of BBQ sauce helped. I could have used more sauce, though. My other side was Mac n cheese which was good. Comparing how attentive the waitress and bartender were when I first arrived to after my meal was served was night and day. My food plates sat there for about an hour after I finished. No one came over to clean them up or ask how it was. I would not recommend this place for the food. The staff seemed happy and friendly but not attentive. read more

The phone number listed for this business on the airport website answers with a "non-working phone number" message, and I really need my receipt to be reimbursed by my work for the expense. The five stars are solely for Melissa. I stopped in yesterday before my flight and she took good care of me. Melissa is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable behind the bar. The overall atmosphere and look of the establishment is fairly average, and I didn't care much for the iPad system. Perhaps ditch the iPads and hire more employees like Melissa to meet your customers needs. read more

Don't waste your time. A 1 oz drink that I payed a double for was half the price of the bottle. You cannot see the prices until you figure out how to use their funky self checkout system on iPads. By that time the bartender already look to see what I saw and put my drink in front of me so I had no choice but to pay for it at $40 for an ounce. Then I ordered a burger because well I was stuck there and I had a $40 tab. it was dried out and it came with no sides no nothing a burger only a burger. So after 1 oz of a drink and a dried-out cheeseburger my bill was $55. on top of that the bartender never even came back to ask if you needed anything never came back to see me and never even gave me the opportunity to ask him if he actually gave me the double that I was supposed to get instead he just left the bar. I really hope you see this review and I really hope that you ban every restaurant in this terminal that's associated with the same company. read more

Servers are great and friendly as i would expect. Quick with drinks and waters. Price of food was really fair for a airport but simply not worth it. My avocado cheeseburger was cold to the touch and had unmelted cheese, yet somehow over cooked and dry? The bacon on top was amazing and done just right. Only side they have is fries and i didnt eat them all( very unlike me). I dont know how fries can be burnt and soggy. The old fashion (makers is their standard ) was above avg for a airport so that was a plus. The other reviews had bad service but mine was great. As I'm typing this the lady next to me eat two of her fries and left, she tried to cover them up with her napkin. Also the only reason i stopped in was for some blantons, to treat myself after a unpleasant week. They dont have any? What whisky bar has a top top shelf of Eagle Rare and bookers? Self serve with credit card ... if you sit at a table you are completely ignored by the bartenders (plural) yes two bartenders! With manager and chef standing around. Belvedere vodka on the rock $20.50 with the horrible service. At the time we dined in literally 11 patrons in this area. Skip this place... they only have burgers which are smaller than a Macdonald's burger! In addition, we sat a dirty table completely ignored until we asked staff to clear the dirty dishes. I also ordered a ginger ale for $4, which the bartender forgot, I politely asked for my non alcoholic beverage (in front of the manager!) which he admired he forgot and apologized....then proceeded to serve all other guests, clear the other dirty tables and then ask the other bartender to bring the drink he made and left on the service area....avoid this place! The cooks, Manager and bartenders are more interested in talking to the employees at the airport which kept passing by than waiting on patrons. read more
