Not very tasty the food was bland and boring. I prefer something more flavorful. I will offer an update to the decor would be nice.

Attended the John Conlee concert on 04/26/2026. Waitress was as slow as molasses and they automatically charge a 20% tip! They also charge different prices if you pay cash or credit card. We paid cash but were charged credit prices. Will not be back. read more

We arrived around 6:30 PM and waited several minutes without seeing a single person. No staff, no customers, nobody. I walked back to the kitchen where the whole staff was hanging out and asked if they were open. Finally got some service. The waiter was fine and the food was overpriced but decent, other than for a steak, the only sides they offer are fries, salad, or potato chips? OK The worst part was the huge dog that I assume belongs to the owner just walking around inside the restaurant. It kept coming up to our table wanting food. Disgusting. I asked the waiter to get it away and he said he would put it outside, but a few minutes later it was back. I'm admittedly not familiar with the state health code, but this has to be a violation, right? Anyway, if you're a "dog person" you might like it. I'm not, and I didn't, and won't be back. read more

I had high hopes for this restaurant and was initially impressed with the rustic charm and friendly hostess. I took my 81 year old friend for her birthday dinner here. We started with the shrimp cocktail (which I do not recommend) My friend wanted a good steak so I suggested the $48 filet. Our server was polite and friendly, although I had to get up and find her a couple times. I ordered the salmon and added truffle bread. The truffle bread came out looking like store bought garlic bread with artificial garlic butter, no hint of truffle. I thought the salmon was one of the worst I have ever had and could barely eat half. The only thing I can say I enjoyed was the bread pudding. The bigger issue, however, was that my friend's steak did not come out as rare as my friend had asked for. We received a new steak, which was very good. We never asked to see a manager, however a girl in a server uniform approached our table and introduced herself as a manager. She demanded to know what temperature we had ordered the steak and then let us know that the steak was cooked to the exact temperature that my friend had requested and that we were wrong. She made it incredibly uncomfortable for us and was very rude. I asked to speak to the owner of the restaurant and she agreed to send whoever that was over and then disappeared and never came back with anyone. Aside from the fact that I was incredibly underwhelmed by the food, the girl identifying herself as a manager is someone that I would have fired on the spot if that were my business. I would never allow an employee speak to guests the way "Aria" did. She made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome and was downright rude and aggressive. I will not be returning ever and would certainly not recommend anyone to try this place out. Also, the food was incredibly overpriced for the caliber of food that was served. P.s. I emailed the owner and let them know what happened. The owner defended the rude server and let me know "Aria" is a favorite among locals (I am local, but I guess my experience doesn't count) and then the owner offered me a free dessert or appetizer. Considering the shrimp cocktail was gross and the service was terrible, I don't feel the need to ever go back. Bad response to a horrible experience. Typical east Texas restaurant. read more

We're new to Lake Tyler and wanted to try a place close to home. We were blown away at this little gem not too far down the road. I had the burger bowl: the meat was delicious and the fresh lettuce with house made dressing was perfect. Very friendly, loved meeting "Muscle" the service dog. We will be back soon! read more

We had a great time tonight. This was our first time going to see a show and it was awesome! The food is always amazing at Blackhawk! They have the best ribeye, the best! My wife and I enjoyed our food but I don't feel that the food deserves the price point. There are other restaurants with higher quality food or better atmosphere for the same pricing. Staff was really great and they do have a neat setup. Very limited menu at this point. Will be interested to see an expanded menu in the future and we may decide to come back. read more

Just finished up eating here for the first time and had to be sure to leave a review. I'm visiting from out of town and found this place when looking for the "best steak near me". And let me tell you it definitely was. Not only is this place located in a beautiful area with a nice property but everyone on the staff was amazing too! Aria was our waitress and she was amazing at making us feel welcome for our first time! She also explained how they grow a lot of their own things and try to be as clean and healthy as possible. Now the food was amazing. We started with the burger bombs and they were absolutely THE BOMB! I've been to many of steakhouses and most of the time they're okay but never really better than one I could cook at home, but Blackhawk has knocked my socks off! My 8oz filet was cooked perfectly and SOOO tender and SOOO juicy. Had me wishing I had more after I finished. My boyfriend also got the same, and while it was a bit over cooked (medium well instead of medium rare) it was still so tender and juicy and he didn't mind. We both agree definitely the best steaks we've had out in a very long time! Also little extra bonus was Muscle coming around and greeting tables for some pets 10/10 would definitely recommend to anyone in the area to check them out! read more

This place is worth a second try to update this review! Mostly things were under seasoned (burger, chicken fried steak and steak sandwich) and items were not hot when we received them. Sauces could use more oomph. Spicy mayo was not very spicy at all. Burger sauce needed acidity and seasoning. More gravy on the CFS! Little things like waiting 10 minutes to get our drinks ordered could also improved. Ambiance, and friendliness were great! Have been there twice and eaten once. Really cool venue, with lots of potential. First attempt was a couple of weeks after they had opened. It was a Saturday about 1:30. We walked up to order and they told us the kitchen was backed up and now taking orders for 20-30 minutes. We actually went across to Point Blank across the courtyard and had a delightful visit. We decided to leave and try the food another day. Second attempt was a month later on Saturday around 1:00. Place was almost empty. Maybe two tables with people and some in the bar area. Walked directly to the counter and got the menu and ordered. No one was behind us. Not a lot of offerings, but still adequate. It was a bit strange finding utensils and a napkin. We ended up getting some off a table that had everything waiting for staff to make utensil bundles. Mushrooms were good, but served in a plane plate with nothing else. We made due with plates. We ordered two burgers and one Ribeye steak sandwich with Chimichurri. Ribeye was the definitive winner, even at $25. Burgers were a huge disappointment. Both were cooked almost beyond recognition. I am glad that I had ordered a side of Chimichurri, It made it bearable. Fries would have been good if they hadn't been sitting under a lamp while they cooked every bit of moisture and flavor out of the burgers. At around $16 bucks, it was a huge disappointment. Especially when we were considering going to Burger Warehouse. At around $80 for a marginal lunch, I am not sure we will go back. Maybe for dinner sometime, so I can try a steak. read more

Upon our 2nd visit, we left with a mixed bag of thoughts. We arrived on a Friday at 6 p.m. and stayed until 8 p.m. enjoying the live music. There were only 4 other tables with guests, which is odd for a restaurant on Friday night in the Tyler area. I ordered the filet and my husband ordered the Wygu ribeye medium rare. Mine was cooked perfectly and was one of the best filets I've ever had. My husbands was overcooked to medium well. So, we sent it back. After we sent it back, my husband said I should just order a filet instead because with how thin the ribeye is, it's going to be hard to get it cooked right. So, I approached our waitress to let her know to change it to a filet. I went back to our table and a minute later, the cook, along with the owner, were at our table. The cook sat down next to my husband with his plate with the ribeye and said, what about this isn't medium rare??? I probe all my steaks. TO SAY WE WERE SHOCKED WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT! NEVER IN OUR YEARS OF DINING HAVE WE EVER HAD A CHEF, MUCH LESS A COOK, CONFRONT US IF OUR STEAKS WERE OVERCOOKED AND RETURNED. It's rare that we ever return our food, but when you're paying $76 for a ribeye, it needs to be cooked right. My husband told him that he too probes his steaks when cooking them at home, but it's difficult to get an accurate reading on a think steak. Again, the cook said, this is medium rare, because I probe my steaks and you just don't know Wygu and the color of it may be off because of our seasoning. My husband stated that yes, we do know Wygu and cook it at home and have ordered it many times at other restaurants. My husband picked up the steak with his fork and scrapped the edge of the steak where it had been cut to show this cook that the red he was seeing was just juice and once he scrapped the juices off, it revealed that over half of the steak was grey. The cook then stormed off back to the kitchen, slamming the door! We should have just gotten up and left at that point, but we were literally just shocked at what had just occurred. My husbands' filet arrived and it was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. At the end of the night, the owner returned to our table to see how our meals were and brought up the ribeye again, stating that their seasoning turns it grey and asked if my husband at least tasted it. WHY would you need to taste an over cooked steak???? She clearly missed the point that when someone orders a steak cooked medium rare, it should be served medium rare. We spent nearly $200 on food and drink that evening, but will never return. In this economy, losing customers is not something businesses can afford to do. read more

This was our second time to visit, first review. Neat Texas inspired decor. Service was excellent both visits. We've had the burger and the fried chicken as mains. Very flavorful, but the chicken needed more gravy. Fries were crisp. We had the chips and queso/salsa as an app this time - very big portion and tasty. The negatives - chicken with fries needed a fresh break. A small salad on the side to highlight the unique hydroponic system would likely yield future sales of full-sized salads. The hydroponic system is unique for sure. The bar is nice, but drinks need some work. Mixed drinks in the $12-14 range were small and overpriced. We pay those prices in California. Happy hour specials would also drive traffic to the place. read more

Absolutely incredible service and food! A unique atmosphere and friendly staff makes you feel at home. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich with ribeye was delicious. I like the atmosphere they are creating here. It is very unique and very much a farm to fork restaurant. All of the wood in the restaurant is locally milled. They have an aquaponics setup that you can see through the window when you order for their herbs and lettuces. We have been a few times. Fridays and Saturdays are steak nights. The other day my husband and I had their wagyu ribeye and IT WAS SOOOO GOOD. Their cocktail menu is simple and delicious. I recommend the the two step twist and pretty in pink. For lunch my favorite is the steak sandwich with chimichurri sauce. There is also a small room in the back that you can book for small events or private meetings. The service is a little different because it is setup self serve style. You order up front with the staff and a food runner will run the food to you, but drinks and silverware are over at their self serve area. read more

We were informed twice that there was a "glitch" in the ordering process due to a new point of sale program. However, when we arrived, we were the very first table to order and watched as several other parties arrived, ordered and started eating. Some even finished their meals before we were even approached with any sort of explanation. When after an hour had passed and yet another table was delivered the same burgers we had ordered, we simply chose to leave.
