This place is decorated really cool with Cajun style, however the food is not that great. Our first time there today and we walked in and only one table was occupied. No one greeted us and we didn't know to order at the back or sit down and get waited on (you order at the back). The fries were good and the sweet tea was good, but the fried shrimp and fish were too heavily battered. No one but young adults in there running it and fighting over what music to play. Definitely would not go back even though it looks like a fun place.

    Boudin Burger!! AMAZING!!!

OOOOMMMMGGGG. I have been wanting to try this place since the sign went up that it was open, but my husband turned his nose up every time I mentioned it...mostly because for whatever reason he assumed it was a young people's party place. lol. It's actually quite the opposite - with a comfy small diner vibe, super nice staff and over the top delicious food!! I finally got to try the Boudin Burger that I have been drooling over in other people's reviews. I can't even formulate words to describe the flavor profile and juicy, spicy deliciousness of this burger. That's where the OOOOMMMMGGGG came in. I don't know who thought up the concept of putting a fried boudin patty on a burger with grilled onions and jalapeños, but I would really like to hug them right about now. I think I can safely say that this was the absolute best burger I have ever eaten. I'm so looking forward to trying their other menu items...which sucks for me because I am allergic to shellfish, but I will definitely be trying everything else!! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would - and that's just for the burger! Oh, the fries were good too btw. :) PS - my husband is now a converted CMIYC customer for life!

Ordered the Mama Catch, boudin balls, side of dirty rice, side of hushpuppies (6). They drizzle a butter sauce (different heat levels) on top of crawfish.. so beware.. it is a good butter sauce. The dirty rice was a letdown.. it was a little undercooked and lacked seasoning. The boudin balls had a nice crust, but it should be called a cheesy ball... there was barely any boudin in it.. and it could use more flavor so you prob wanna skip. I love hushpuppies so had to get an order... flavor is good but they were dry. The main event, crawfish... it was seasoned very well and the butter on top was mint! It is still early in season, so crawfish was small. It took a little bit for crawfish to come out, and they werent that busy. I will come back in a few weeks to see if crawfish is bigger. Not sure if i will try other menu items yet.

Oh Lawdy Lawd!!! You serious? We used to chase these guys when they would drop location sites in Tyler. I was turned onto these guys from my son... when he told me that I had to be at the Big Lots parking lot, at a certain time, and order whatever we wanted but we NEEDED to get their Swamp Fries. Sooooooo.... The wife and I did. We stood in line, that began forming before they opened... in 105°!! Whewww... "This better be worth it!", is all I could think about at the time. Well batter me up in Cajun seasoning and toss my ass into the fryer! Hot damn this place is amazing! This was absolutely perfect! And now imagine my surprise when finding out they have their own restaurant now! Ya mean I don't have to chase these guys down anymore? Love it!! The ambiance and flair of Louisiana has totally been captured with the the interior and exterior layout. The outdoor seating is my absolute favorite. I've brought my mom, my kids, and some out of towners here on various occasions, and every time- they never disappoint! Of course the Swamp Fries is a must if you haven't tried it yet. Fries smothered in Gumbo, shrimp, cheese, sausage, special sauce, over some dirty rice... mmmm A perfect medley concocted for your creole palette. We've also had the Cajun Corn and the Fried Boudin, an experience to be had for sure. Their fried fish plate is extremely tasty, but their Fried Chicken Tenders was top notch! White meat isn't my favorite but it was juicy throughout. I always worry about dried out pieces but their tenders are meaty and juicy! I can't speak highly enough of this place. I am so glad you are rooted down, that way I can guarantee my guests some good eats instead of hoping to Catch them while I could Love the creole southern vibe, the food, the atmosphere... perfect experience in my book. As always, enjoy & Happy Catching!

Cool vibes place to try if you are in the Tyler area. It's Cajun at its finest, and you will not be disappointed. We tried their version of Birrio Tacos, which was flour tortillas stuffed with dirty rice and tons of slow-cooked meats and cheese, and served with a side of the best gumbo that you have ever tried. Fun atmosphere with live music!

Worth the drive from Shreveport!! The food is amazing! Real genuine Louisiana cuisine! You literally feel like you walk into NewOrleans when you walk in! It has the whole Vibe! The staff is so friendly and helpful! It is little taste of Louisiana in Texas!!

I can't believe I have not tried this place before today! Okay, I made a living traveling and love my New Orleans Cajun food so maybe I thought it would not compare. However, after seeing this food truck business turn into a restaurant, and listening to the owner on the news talk about the struggle for private restaurants to stay in business and keep their prices down, I decided to give it a try today. After all, they have all these "Best In Town" awards from Tyler. So I had to drive to Flint today to try out their restaurant. Oh my goodness! I have found my new Cajun Seafood Restaurant! I am kicking myself for not coming here sooner! Believe me when I say I'm gonna be in here at least once a week. I got a boiler bag with a half a pound of shrimp and three clusters of crab along with corn and potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly and so delicious. The spices and sauce were perfect. I came at 4 o'clock right before it got busy and now I'm ordering food to go to take home. I will say it's definitely Cajun and spicy so if you don't like spicy, make sure you tell them not to add the seasoning. I like the spicy, but either way the crab and shrimp were cooked to perfection and delicious. Please come support them and don't wait too long like I did. I want them to stay open so I can eat here once a week! Love, love, love. Oh yeah, the fellas working upfront were super nice, helpful and very accommodating.

You come back to a place like Happy's, and it tastes like a Michelin Star establishment compared to the seafood up in Lubbock. Where is that fish from? The ponds? Ain't no way. Happy's is a staple of Tyler. Owned by the same team as Mercados and Posados, Happy's is their only seafood establishment, and it is a fine piece of art. Inside, there's plenty of lamps and fish hanging on the walls and decor that feels strongly inspired by Mardi Gras. The truest display of their beauty is a chandelier made of Corona bottles. I was meeting my aunt and uncle for lunch with my girlfriend, and my uncle knows this place up and down. You could tell it's one of his favorite spots in Tyler by how he lit up when I suggested it as the place we go to lunch together while I was visiting. We used to go quite a bit when I was still living in Tyler, and he still knows the name of the waitresses and they love him back. I went for the Catfish Po Boy because man did it sound fire. I got it with a side of fries and fried okra. The okra was great and the fries were super crispy. The Po Boy itself was the star of the show. I unwrapped it and destroyed the entire thing. The catfish side was super crispy and delicious and had a fantastic flavor. It tasted fresh and I knew it was really special. My girlfriend got the gumbo and thought it was incredible as well along with eating half of my fried okra. Happy's might have some of the best seafood in Tyler. It's a great establishment, and I was proud to be able to show it to my visiting girlfriend as the pride and joy of some of the food Tyler has to offer. RIYL: Something fishy

The bread was a good, the catfish was tasty, very thin though. The fried okra and French fries were good too. My husband had the catfish plate, also had fried okra and French fries as his side. His catfish filets were thicker than my po boy. Food was amazing with large portions. Service needs work.

The shrimp were cooked perfectly, the seasoning was on point, and everything came out fresh and hot. I'm convinced somebody in that kitchen has a direct connection to the Gulf because there's no reason seafood in East Texas should taste that good. The place was busy, the staff was hustling, and somehow everything still came out fast. By the end of the meal I was already planning what I was ordering next time before I had even paid the check. If you leave Skipper's hungry, that's honestly a personal decision.

I went here with my dad who was born and raised in the area. He explained that we should go early…read morebecause they can get really busy, really quickly. So we went at around 4:45 in the afternoon on a Friday. There was already a 20-30 minute wait for a table inside, but instant seating on the patio, which we took. I'm breaking this into two scores--the food which is the most important, and the service (not just waitress, but overall). Food 4.5 stars--not perfect, but very good. Service 3.0 After getting seated on the patio we were told the server would be out shortly. After about 15 minutes I went back in to ask for menus--coincidently the person that seated us was telling the server that they had people at our table, so I turned around and went back out. Shortly thereafter we were given menus and we ordered drinks. Dad got 50/50 tea and I got water and a whisky rocks which confused the waitress. "So like, with Coke?" No, ma'am, just the whiskey poured over rocks, whatever your house whiskey is, I'm not that picky. We already knew what we wanted and ordered the catfish filets with fries, and fried okra. The food came quickly, but still no drinks. Eventually those came out. My whiskey was in a larger glass, not a whole lot but enough not to complain. The waitress then asked if I wanted a straw for it because she wasn't sure. She might have been new to service, so I'm not upset, I was more amused. She is working at a bar/restaurant but perhaps the servers are kept seperate and she's not used to running for the bar. The food was excellent. The catfish was freshly fried, the outside a good crunchy crust and the inside darn near dissolved it was so tender and moist, not even a hint of being over or under done. Excellent flavor, it didn't need the house made dips (a tartar and a cocktail sauce, both great), but they complimented it. Tartar was heavy on mayo flavor than traditional tartar, but you could still tell what it was. Cocktail sauce seemed fairly standard, I guess I can't promise that one was house made. Two jalapeno hush puppies came with it. They were standard fair, a little bit of spice, enough to enjoy while letting non-spicy people still tolerate it. Crunch went deep, the center was cooked but a lot less of the ratio than the crunch outside. Fries were also standard, but fried well, good crunch and fluffy inside. Fish was the absolute star, it was "close your eyes and enjoy" good. Fried okra was bland. It was crunch on the outside, soft but not gooey on the inside so they treated it well to reduce the slime, but it didn't stand out from any other fried okra I've had. Wouldn't get it again, but it was cheap. Didn't get checked on very often, I think we were offered drink refills when we asked for the check. Got the bill. Fish plates, $16. Okra side: 3.50. My one ounce of whiskey, TWELVE DOLLARS. I don't know if she rang it in wrong, or if their prices are just ridiculous for that stuff. Lesson learned, don't order alcohol here. But most certainly order the fish. Service lacking, perhaps still learning, fish was absolutely wonderful.
