I appreciate the prompt response from Ryan.  He let me know one of his assistany, Aleks, will be contacting me shortly.  Aleks was flexible in meeting me the same day we'd spoken!  I was glad the fix for my laptop wasn't extremely complex and Aleks was able to quickly diagnose the issue.  He was helpful in recommending other programs I could use in the interim while I figure out how to restore my Office Suite programs with the registration key accessed through student program. I would highly recommend #1 Tech Support!! Last week, I updated Microsoft 365 on my work laptop. After the update, I couldn't get to my PST files on my external hard drive, where everything is housed. I didn't realize this until yesterday, Monday. I was FREAKING OUT. Seven years of emails and documents were on the external drive. I found this company by typing in computer repair near me. I chose this company because of the ratings. I called the number and Ryan picked up. I explained my situation. I gave control of my laptop so that he could see what I was talking about. It couldn't be fixed remotely, so I gave him my external drive, along with a new external drive to see if he could recover anything. If so, to copy everything to the new drive. His office is being renovated, so he graciously offered to meet me where it was convenient for me, not him. He kept me in the loop the entire day. Guess what? I GOT MY NEW EXTERNAL DRIVE THIS MORNING AND ALMOST ALL OF MY FILES WERE RECOVERED!!! He is still working on a few PST files, but to know that most of my documents and PST files from SEVEN years were recovered - AMAZING!!!! I almost cried from relief. Ryan took the time to explain what was going on with my external drive. He made our meet point easy for me. He didn't promise me anything unrealistic. He also didn't charge me until AFTER he was able to recover anything. He remotely set up my new hard drive for me and showed me how to recover/recover Outlook PST files in the future. He didn't have to do that. He could have kept that to himself so that I'd have to call for assistance again. The price for this was SO reasonable. If I could give him 10 stars, I would. The stars would be for knowledge, professionalism, calm, kindness, reasonable fees, and good old fashioned excellent customer service, which is so rare nowadays. RV I am an IT tech for the past 23 years, 12 of those years I was employed by IBM as a lead tech. After I left IBM, I became an independent IT contractor and to date I completed 732 IT jobs with 91 clients and 99% of them awarded me 5 star ratings. Few weeks ago I accepted a work order from Ryan Smith the owner of Blackhawkmsp for a fee to repair a desktop in Fremont Ca. When I arrived at the site the next day I found out the scope of the work has changed. Not only he gave me the wrong desktop model and specs, he also did not tell me that he troubleshot the desktop with the owner of this particular business over the phone for a long time. At the site I found the lid and the Bessel of the desktop open and after several attempts to reboot the machine I concluded the desktop has major problems. Since I was there, I troubleshot the desktop for over 4 hours including a trip to the computer part store to purchase a hard drive and a memory stick. The standard pay rule in this field is when agreed for a fix pay, the pay is for 2 hours or less. When I asked him for more pay, he refused even refused to pay me at all. Finally I was paid for the first 2 hours after I threaten him with court action. Ryan the owner is very dishonest, unreliable person. He lies to get out paying your fee. He lied to me 9 times and the last two lies that I don't know what a computer is and also that I don't know how to install a hard drive. (Laughable, childish and delusional lies) Business owners and my fellow techs I recommend you make sure you cover all your bases before you accept to work with Blackhawkmsp. I received no call back a few hours later I reached out again and he said he couldn't help me. I asked why as I plan to call around and maybe you know something I don't that would save me time. On a Friday night, weekend of a Holiday, I'm starting another job and my Network Jack in my bedroom is not working. The modem is in the basement, two-stories away from my desk/home office.
