Our server was fantastic and really helped us choose dishes based on our preferences. For starters, we had the roasted scallops and prawn cocktail--both fresh, flavorful, and delicious. For mains, we shared the chateaubriand with bone marrow gravy, paired with mac and cheese and beef dripping chips. The steak was cooked to perfection and the chips were incredible! The mac and cheese was just okay in my opinion, but everything else more than made up for it. The ambiance was also lovely--not too busy or loud, which made it easy to enjoy our meal and conversation for the night. To finish, we ordered the sticky toffee pudding, and when I say it was one of the best desserts I've ever had, I truly mean it. The wait staff seems pretty accomodating. They help you out and they aren't dressed up so you don't feel like you are under dressed. I stopped in for a mid-afternoon solo lunch, after landing from an international flight. I was able to get a table right away. The service was attentive but not overbearing, and struck just the right balance. I ordered a glass of rosé and the Sunday roast meal, both of which came out quickly enough. We reserved online in the bar area, in which we actually got a table, pleasantly surprised. There were many other tables in the bar area/room and another separate dining room. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and decided to try Hawksmoor. We were pleasantly surprised! The ambiance was perfect! We loved the service as well. We started our meal with the smoked salmon. I ordered a T-bone steak, and my wife had the filet mignon. We ordered sides of macaroni and cheese and the creamed spinach. The food was amazing!! Everything was perfectly prepared and I must say that this was our best meal while visiting London. In my trip to London I was looking forward to eating at this establishment. It had been said to be one of best steaks in the world. It fell very short on all fronts. To start we were made to wait a half hour past our reservation with a half empty restaurant. While at bar we were served one drink and never even acknowledged ever again. Once sat for dinner the waitress was very nice. When she was around. The meal was the build up and fell very short. $165 chateaubriand was horrible. The ends were cooked grey and center was rare. We were in search of a decent Sunday Roast place on our short trip to London. Hubby came across Hawksmoor and we decided to try it out since we were headed to Borough Market (not realizing they're not open on Sundays). We were seated promptly and the hostess/waiter were both very nice. We didn't want to eat too much so we opted to share just one Sunday Roast and share a couple of side dishes as well as the bone marrow starter. The bone marrow was creamy, fatty, and just delicious! The caramelized onions added a great hint of sweetness. We both appreciated the natural taste of the dish, but ended up adding salt on it to make it more yummy. The roast was very delicious and we were glad that we only ordered one to share. It was a very big portion with meat, veggies, potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, grilled shallots and whole garlic. The gravy that it came with tied everything together. Mmm!! However, the knives given at the table were very dull. It was difficult to cut the tender meat. We also had the English side salad (I think it was butter lettuce dressed with herbs and an oil vinaigrette​) and beef drippings fries. They were both delicious and the salad worked well to add a fresh component to the heavy dishes. The fries were amazing and seasoned perfectly. Only downsides to the meal were that our table was a bit wobbly and service was a bit sub par (slow). Hubby ended up spilling red wine on himself in the middle of our meal when he tried to get the ketchup out of the bottle. The accident, unfortunately,​ cut our meal short and no one came over to ask if things were okay or give us more napkins despite us being seated right next to a service station with many staff members hanging around at all times. He even went from our end of the table at the end of the restaurant all the way to the front of the restaurant (and downstairs) to the WC to try to clean it off and no one offered anything. We ended up just rushed to pay and left. Wish hospitality would've been a bit better. read more

The salad was very small for the price--or almost any price--but the rib appetizer, sole and ribeye were all very good. This is a great steak house. It is not cheap but I was very happy with the quality of the meat and the kitchen team got my medium-rare rib-eye request exactly right. The waiter was fun and had a good knowledge of the wine list and recommended the right flavours to suit our dishes. We had a pescatarian with us who said her toasted SeaBream was cooked to perfection. The decor is rustic and comfortable. There's some big room tables at the back which is good for 6-8 people to have an intimate but spacious dinner. I've been here twice now and will return. read more

My husband ordered and IPA and I ordered a cider. We also shared the Sunday roast with Yorkshire pudding included. The roast, potatoes, and gravy were delicious. However, the Yorkshire pudding was a little lack luster. I had never tried it before, and I was expecting it to be delicious, but unfortunately it was bland. I travel to London often from The States, but this was my first time here. It was simply a lovely evening. The food, though pricey, was divine. The rib eyes my husband and I ordered weren't overcooked, but medium rare is usually a touch more red than pink, at least back home; nevertheless, the steaks were of the highest quality and tasted delicious. Our server, David, made the evening that much better, and we couldn't have asked for more attentive service. When I return to London, I will definitely return here.
