We stumbled into this charming place; it's on a side entrance in an area of office buildings. The ambiance is relaxing with a cool vibe and great music. Seriously, it wasn't even a vinaigrette. Just trenched in some obscure (hopefully virgin olive) oil. e) A woman next to our table was chain smoking into our face throughout the entire dinner (yes that's apparently allowed in London). I'll start by saying I am American and have certain expectations when it comes to meat, specifically steaks. We went there specifically looking for Sunday roast and the reviews said they had it. We ordered the Sunday roast for two, it includes a sampling off all the meats they offer along with all the normal roast trimmings with the idea of splitting them between two people. This was a good and bad decision. Good because I would not have expected the lamb and chicken to be the best of the grouping of meat (the beef and pork were dry and flavorless). Bad because the presentation of the plate was literally just everything all piled up on one serving tray. Not only was the presentation visually unappealing, but you had to basically dig down through the meat to get to the vegetables and potatoes. There was plenty of meat present of each variety but the trimmings were significantly lacking. There was one piece of cabbage (stem attached) so you had to use your knife and fork to cut apart the cabbage to share. Because of the pilling of the platter this meant you had likely already been eating with that fork and knife. The beef was incredibly dry and generally flavorless. The pork was about 20% fat and again, flavorless. The lamb was juicy and had decent flavor. The chicken was by far the best with good flavor, texture and juice. The third member of our group got a steak which again was flavorless and unfortunately barely warm by the time it got to us. We had asked for it to be cooked medium and that was spot on though which I appreciate. It came with potatoes and a green salad which were both good. Lastly, we got a side of Mac and cheese just Incase she didn't care for the potatoes and that turned out to be the star of the show moving this rating from two stars to three. The service was fast and friendly so no complaints there and the place was clean with a very modern feel which was nice. The ambiance and service from the wait staff far outshined the quality of the food unfortunately. My recommendation, find somewhere else to get your Sunday roast or steak dinner. read more

We rented a flat right access the street for a trip to London and this was the first place the showed up on the mall that had steak. We were greetedted quickly and seated right away. Or wastes was great. The food was excellent. The girls shared a meat feast, I had the dry aged beef, and the other daughter had the smoked salmon with a side of Mac and cheese. All of the food was great. The Yorkshire pudding a were a little large and mine had some oil it absorbed from the plate of veggies. We all ordered non-alcoholic cranberry mojitos which were great. The paper straws, while good for the environment, wilted fairly quick though. For dessert we had the hot chocolate cake with ice cream. It was pretty hot (temperature wise). It was a little bitter, but when we mixed in the ice cream it was better. The restaurant was clean as we're the bathrooms. We would definitely go back. My rating system consists of a 3-star being exactly what you expected and neither good nor bad. A 4 means something was extra special and a 5 means you were blown away. A 2 star rating was disappointing and a 1-star rating is terrible read more

It kills me to write this review because there were so many positive aspects of this experience, however, service was decidedly (and at quite a cost) a huge negative. We arrived at 6:50 on a week night and were quickly seated. Over server took some time arriving - this was a concern because happy hour ended at 7pm. Once he did we ordered drinks and then ordered dinner a few minutes later. One round of the happy hour drinks arrived and I continued to wait on mine. I ordered a flank steak and asked to substitute my sides for the cabbage and salad. A few minutes later the food came out (it is really fast!) and instead of substituted sides...I had two extra ones. And NO drinks. Hmmm. So we asked for some help and our server came back. I asked if he substituted them and was told he did. Until I saw the bill. He did not substitute them and told me at that point that he didn't realize he wanted them substituted. Now, it's loud, but I thought we had that discussion a time or two at this point. It kills me to rate this place lower than the delicious food (GET the cabbage) and the drinks (purple passion won over mango and apple) deserve, but if your server is charging you for water (watch out!) and extra food (seriously? At least he took one off) then you may end up with a deal that doesn't feel like one. read more

This place is conveniently located across from Victoria Station and beside the Victoria Palace Theatre. They had some nice lunch specials available on Saturdays, so we took advantage. My husband had the flank steak with salad, vegetables and potatoes. Flank isn't his favorite cut but it was nicely cooked. The veggies were fresh (far superior to what you normally find in America). I had the same reaction to my lunch special salmon salad, which I enjoyed along with a Thistly Cross strawberry cider. The combination of greens was different than in America, and better. Since the weather was lovely, we ate outside and the place was set in a beautiful area. I had the giant meatball with gravy and garlic and thyme potatoes as a side. The dish was beautifully presented. The meatball was moist and flavorful. But the gravy wasn't how I imagined, since it was broth-like and not your typical gravy that I'm used to. The potatoes were normal tasting, nothing to rave about. A minor issue I had was that the still water bottle had a piece of hair clinging to it. Service was okay, but a bit awkward. Went to this restaurant after a matinee play. There were a nice mix of tourists and locals. Our server was a nice lady from Columbia. We ordered two ribeyes with green beans and roasted potatoes. Everything was delicious and well seasoned; though my ribeye was closer to medium than the medium-rare I requested. We also had the watermelon margarita that was equally well made. We had dinner after a long sight seeing day in London, man this place hit the spot. Ambiance was perfect and it smelled absolutely divine, assuming one likes the smokiness ;) Think of it like entering a local BBQ joint here in the States, but all of the British glamour and style. Our server was extremely attentive and helpful, we ordered several cold sides in one bowl for £12 and they were fresh/crunchy. We then got the meat platter for two as we try to adhere to a low carb/high fat diet. Wow, when the dish arrived the pile of food and presentation were just astonishing. Plate consisted of chicken, rump, belly and thin slices of roast. All were delicious, although the chicken paled in comparison, as expected. We probably ordered too much, because the meat plate already came with lots of veggies (we subbed potatoes for more greens) and it was just a mega feast. Everything was delicious and the overall bill was quite reasonable. Go there! read more

Was looking for a non-Pub dinner spot near Westminster and found The Stoke House via Yelp. Really enjoyed it. The variety of meats and sides means there's something for everyone. The service was excellent and friendly. The restaurant decor is modern and open kitchen, but warm and lively. And the prices were eminently reasonable. Four adults split three orders of the Meat Feast (minimum of two people) and four sides. Perfect amount of food. We argued as to which of the meats was the tastiest, with the rough consensus being the roasted lamb followed by the short ribs. Delicious. Everything was fall off the bone tender. As for sides, the cold soba noodles was a big hit, but again, everything was very good. The kids all had the Giant Meatball in gravy and raved about it. We'd absolutely come here again. This is a nice chic spot, located walking distance from the Buckingham Palace( thats how I ended up there). There service was great and the food was even better. Walking in, I honestly did not know what to expect. The expresso martini was perfect, the lemon and herb chicken left me with no complaints. We were recommended by our Airbnb host that we stop in to Nova Victoria for some real, non-tourist food. After checking out every menu in the area, my wife and I agreed on The Stoke House. First, the good: 1. There was an abundance of servers at 2PM on Friday and we were seated immediately. Our waiter was also very friendly. 2. The drinks were amazing! We got a gin fizz and a watermelon margarita. Both were absolutely perfect. 3. My wife really liked her onion tart. And the not-so-good: 1. We shared a grilled halloumi salad, which I thought was underseasoned but a little salt fixed it right up. I will say that we've had better grilled halloumi at home though - here it seemed like they just quickly branded the cheese with super hot grill marks rather than letting it warm and soften on a cooking surface. So it was a bit too solid for our taste. 2. The steak I got was dreadful, and this is a steakhouse. So that's bad. Specifically I got the flank steak lunch special. Flank steak is one of my favorite cuts of meat when it's done right, but here it was done very wrong. Flank steak is supposed to be sliced very thin, at an angle, against the grain. This flank steak was sliced in rectangular blocks along the grain. So while it was cooked correctly to my order (medium rare), everything else was wrong in a 'rookie mistake' way that a steakhouse should never have let out of the kitchen. We went around 2pm on a weekday and were seated immediately on the lovely patio. We had several of the 2 for 1 cocktails (2 for $14) and they were excellent. The tequila rose rise is top notch. Each of us had a sandwich: chicken & chorizo, steak sandwich and burger. All were delicious with quality ingredients. (Real pieces of chicken...not a preformed chicken breast) The steak sandwich is served a very medium rare by American standards. We had ice cream and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The staff was nice and accommodating for our table of 6 and served our food all at the same time and drinks were out accordingly. Really loved the open kitchen inside, the hip/fun and clean vibes but we decided to sit outside for our meal. We had the pork rinds and olives for appetizers. Meals included steak and potatoes, halloumi salad, mac n cheese, salmon and vegetables, pork and veggies, quinoa salad and more. No complaints from any of the 6 people in our group regarding our food and everything tasted fresh and was the appropriate temperature and was tasty. Hated my dinner here unfortunately. The steak sandwich might as well have been a rubber shoe and the mac and cheese was subpar. Margarita had no mixer and was all ice.
