Do not trust this company. Richard and his crew did a poor-quality job on our driveway, and we continue to have sinking spots anywhere a vehicle is parked for even a short period of time. Richard returned once to address the issue and said they would cut out the sunken areas, patch them, and apply a sealant over the entire driveway so it would look seamless. Unfortunately, the result was far from seamless. The repairs are visibly patched, the asphalt continues to sink, and every follow-up has been delayed with excuses about waiting until "spring" so the asphalt could cure properly. Communication has also been extremely frustrating. We rarely hear from Richard unless we contact him first, and even then, promised inspections or repairs are pushed out by weeks or months. After repeated delays and unresolved issues, I requested a refund so we could hire another company to complete the work correctly. Richard refused, insisting he would make the repairs himself. We have now learned that Richard has moved to the East Coast, leaving us with an unfinished and poorly completed driveway. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company. read more

A company full of empty promises. Paid in full yet never returned to complete the project. Areas left unsealed and asphalt worn through to underlying dirt with 12 months. Kept promising to return and finish the job but never did. I've given the benefit of the doubt for 14 months before writing this review hoping the owner was a man of integrity. Already wasted enough of my time on this company so I'll make it short in hopes that I can save you the headache. Bought a house in Jan 2022, the asphalt was "new", about 4 months old. The project required a permit per the county, there is no permit on file for the job. Finally got a hold of someone name "Charles Holmes" to come out and confirm that he completed the project. He came, confirmed that he completed the job in Oct 2021 and that any issues I was having weren't his problem because "that's how the lady (the previous owner) wanted it". He said he was "95% sure" he didn't need a permit for the driveway job. The asphalt is uneven, crumbling, causes flooding back up to the house, and its extends 10ft over a utility easement and into the right-of-way. He said he would demolish all the asphalt for $4,000, which I declined. He refused to honor or acknowledge the 1-year required warranty. A simple CCB search for BlackRock llc. confirms that this isn't a business you want to contract with. Richard Pierce is listed as the owner but all numbers online are dead-ends. Anyways, do your CCB search, these guys have multiple complaints, penalties, and suspensions. I've seen other comments where the owners reply to bad reviews and argue with customers so, Charles & Richard, if you're reading this, don't even bother wasting my time and just respond to the CCB complaint. read more

They repaved my drive on 4/29/19 and I waited this long to see what summer heat and fall rain would do. It has held up great. The drive included drainage away from the garage, two hills, septic tank cover and rain water outlet. Everything turned out great. They did the job on time, within bid and answered every question. This was a big residential drive and partly alongside a very busy road. I think they did outstanding work and London was great. read more

Highly highly recommend!! We were referred to this company by a commercial builder friend here in Portland. From the moment we met one of the owners, London Pierce, at our home, we had only a 1st class experience! Polite, knowledgeable and conscientious of the concerns we had. The entire job from start to finish was one day. We had 50 tons of asphalt laid, with hours of prep work done before they could even begin the asphalt application. The experienced, polite crew of 6 seemed to make all this happen so effortlessly. Prior to having the work done, we referred to yelp to see if there were any reviews...and there were. We were confused by the positive "5" reviews, then the 1 low review. We confronted London with this, and he explained the situation, It was evidently the sealing of the driveway that should have been replaced...Based on the pics from the poor review, you can see all the cracks (it appeared in worse condition than my driveway, that I knew needed replaced). I looked on the BBB website, as the reviewer recommended...there were no incidents in Oregon. We were sufficed, and proceeded to have the job done. London and his dad Rich were both on the job as part of the work crew, and were very pleasant to work with! During the day of install, Black Rock asphalt got several new clients from our neighbors driving by...not one of them needed our recommendation, Black Rock's work obviously spoke for itself. It is now day 3 after our driveway install, We've seen London and the crew everyday in our hood with our neighbors. read more

Unreliable and unprofessional! I signed a contract in April 2018 to have my residential driveway repaved. I was told on the day I signed the contract that the work could even be done later that week. At the time I had 10 yards of rock on my driveway for a landscaping project, and my landscaper worked overtime to get it moved into place. Then nothing. No telephone call. No workers arriving. Nothing. Over the Summer months I made several telephone calls to London Pierce, who always offered a date that the work would be done. And then nothing. One excuse after another, until I was very rudely informed that as long as Blackrock had a bigger, better job, that my project would have to wait. Now I am waiting out the Oregon rains to bring in a reliable contractor to do the job, During my first meeting with London, I inquired about several unfavorable Yelp reports, and he had explanations for why people were dissatisfied, always putting it back on them. I was assured of a quality product, done in a timely manner. My experience with this company is that they are unreliable and unprofessional. If I could, I would give this business a negative 10 review. read more
