Came here as a party of 8 for a fun get together. One of our group is a regular so we left the ordering to him. First of all, who would have thought that a steakhouse would have a strong sushi game! The rolls were delicious and had a great variety. We ordered half east coast and west coast oysters and they were fresh and delicious and accompanied by all the accoutrements. We ordered two kinds of steaks to share. They even provide a hot stone for people who want their meat cooked more done can get a little extra cook on it. We also ordered the sea bass - looked good but I was too busy eating the steaks! Service was excellent and very attentive. Cocktails were very strong and we had the wine flowing. They even use a large decanter to pour into the glasses all the way at the far end of the table. But note - you're paying for every bit of the elevated experience. read more

The moment I entered this restaurant I knew it would be very average. I was greeted by a poorly dressed staff member. The restaurant is very old, dark and stuffy. I had the fillet mignon. Since you always have two servers serving your table you never need to try to find anyone to assist you, plenty of happy servers are everywhere. The food is always fresh from sushi to steak, the menu can be overwhelming since there are tons and tons of items from appetizers to salads to fish selections to raw bar items to steaks to imported steaks to desserts, get the picture. You'll need time to review it all before a server comes over to mention specials and mess up your dining plan. There are also special cocktails and an extensive wine list. With so many items you must be thinking they can't get it right but amazingly they do. A $140 steak was pretty small and tasted good but not amazing. The entire sea bass dish lacked color and was completely overpowered by coconut, purple yam could have been softer and the cucumber salad did not belong on that plate at all. The sides were not bad . Always a great time when we go to this more upscale long island steakhouse, owned by Anthony scotto. Been here a bunch of times and always have a solid meal accompanied by some great drinks. The bar is a nice spot to start for a cocktail which features a huge wine list and some top shelf whiskey and bourbon. Food wise there's so many good options. The wageu Sliders, sushi, and lobster bisque are usually our go to's. The wedge salad is also a nice starter. Main course wise the meat options are always top notch, with the lamb chops being my new favorite. The Australian tomahawk is also nice if your splitting a meal and don't mind shelling out some extra cash. I usually sit in the bar area which is generally lively without being too crazy. Bartenders are friendly! My only complaint is that is is way too dark inside . They used to have curtains open by the bar but now it's like a vampires den and very hard to see anything ! Esp in summer , it's nice to have some windows open and light . read more

It's a very pretty place...the ambience is nice for a steakhouse. However, my T-bone steak wasn't what I envisioned. It was very tender...a bit too tender so that it almost didn't feel like steak. The taste was fairly non-existent. You know when you get a really good piece of steak and you do that "Wow...this is so good!" eye roll? Well, I couldn't do it. Haven't been to Blackstone in a long time, several years ago. Amazing friends chose Blackstone and while it wouldn't have been my first choice, I put on a smile. My steak 'measuring stick' is Peter Lugers, and I was just there last night, so I was properly tuned to give Blackstone an objective comparison. I have to say, the porterhouse was better. It was aged better, much less moisture, with much stronger savory and glutamine flavor. Add that flavor to the creamy, oily fatty acids coating your mouth, and you're going to eat this steak even if you didn't want any. The cut was thicker, charred & seasoned, and seemed more generous, with stellar marbling. Round out the menu with sushi, extensive starters & sides to choose from, and a raw bar, in a huge beautiful dining room - I have to say Blackstone is an amazing steakhouse. Unfortunately service had a slip at the end of the meal. Our table of eight was ignored during the entire desert service when things were needed and we wanted to leave to watch the Super Bowl. Our server was gone, they sent in the closer to finish desert, and he fumbled in the fourth quarter. Service was very slow. Food was tasteless. Salad was ok. Filet minion was cold in the middle, 6 of us returned our plate. No flavor at all. The tiny portion of mashed potatoes had no FLAVOR. The filet mignon pieces were good, however the rest of the steak was fatty and tough and one was not cooked to order. I recently had a porterhouse for two at Peter Luger that was FAR superior. Had a chopped salad to start was fresh and good ordered bone in ribeye, marinated skirt steak, Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes for sides. Dropped by Blackstone Steakhouse for a birthday celebration. The reservation process was very straightforward. Even though it was the holidays, we made a same day reservation through open table. Upon arriving, the place was packed full of families and dining. The service was phenomenal. Tons of waiters who were super friendly and helpful. No complains on the food. I would not say my favorite steakhouse on Long Island but it's one of the top ones. The Wagyu special was a hit with the show but a little bit on the pricey side. Overall it was a lovely dining experience but a bit high on the budget. I would say it's perfect for a special occasion. The service on a Saturday was not reflective of what I expected. While the restaurant was able to accommodate a reservation, The wait time for the actual meal was lengthy ( over an hour) and the table seated after us was served before us which was bizarre. Disappointed to say, the restaurant is not good. The food has zero flavor. I had a rib eye, my wife had a filet, side of mashed, even the drinks, kids fries nothing had any flavor or seasoning. Also my wife's filet was ordered medium but came out very rare. The restaurant is extremely loud so it's very difficult to have a conversation with anyone in your party. I will say the service was good. John z and I believe Jennifer were very good and personable. Only negative is when they say we didn't eat much of our steaks, they didn't ask us something was wrong. One of the best steak places on Long Island. The sushi rolls and sushi individual pieces were way better than I expected. This place has very good sushi for a steakhouse. Lobster tails were delicious and sweet. The shrimp cocktail was fresh and so good Took a big chance with the 40 ounce Wagyu Tomahawk. They slice it table side and give it a flaming kiss. It was good but I'm not sure for $220 it was quite worth it. It was tender and juicy but not elevated enough above my usual $95-110 range Tomahawk at my other favorite spots. The bread we received was charred. It was free so I decided not to raise the issue. Maybe just a bit too long in the oven. My mom had a $28 glass of pinot that she didn't like. I didn't realize until the end of the meal that she hadn't touched it. I felt terrible to raise this as the check came, so I avoided saying anything. Other places I've been the wait staff will notice if you don't touch something and then inquire. Service was still great though. The Blackstone signature roll had so much in it and it was delicious. You could get by with just sushi here and not even touch the steak menu. Desserts of key lime pie and chocolate cake were good, but nothing blew me away on the dessert side. This place is nicely styled inside. One other odd note... we were getting ready to leave...30 minutes ahead of time.. only a 15 min ride... and I get an email that my reservation is canceled. I even checked my phone to see if anyone called from Blackstone and maybe I missed it. No one called. I ended up calling the restaurant and they reactivated it. It all worked out in the end though.
