Just be aware you have to order lunch from here 48 hours in advance. That's right, you have to care enough about eating from here that you order your lunch two days in advance. I guess there is no changing your mind that day. And I guess it's loyal base has lives that this works for. Whom does this place cater to? Not your average person by any means. Certainly not people actually out working. Perhaps office or bank employees around town who know on Monday what they will want for lunch on Wednesday. Not knowing this. I googled them, saw no hours, nor any explanation. We were only two minutes away, so I just drove over. Never mind that it took 15 minutes to park in downtown Lewisburg. It looked closed so I walked to the door to look for hours. Nothing but a menu taped to the window. I saw two women inside. One looked right at me, so I smiled and waved. She quite literally looked at me like she was exhausted with me already, raised her eyebrows and shook her head no. Which I interpreted as we are closed. Fair enough. So I hop back in the truck and pull up their website. Funny, looks like most of the reaturaunt sites in Lewisburg, all made by the same company. The only explanation on their website states it's pick up and delivery style. Okay, great. Have to download their menu. Okay. Finally, it looks like we will be able to order. Not so fast. After downloading, and only after downloading the menu, does it state you must order 48 hours in advance....wow. That's something your website designer should probably put on the front page of your site. Or maybe you, as the business owner, should put this on Google. Or at least hours and 48-hour advance pick-up delivery ONLY somewhere on Google. Maybe a door sign for all the average people who think this is an actual restaurant, so they don't get snooty looks when they smile at you. Some of us aren't aware of the odd way your business works. I've lived all over, and I've managed four diamond restaurants. Huge scale casino restaurants, small boutique steakhouses, fifties style diners, etc, and never seen this type of model for a restaurant, small or large. Clearly, people are fans. They seem to do well enough. But as it is nothing they offer that looks so good, unique, or special that I would order 48 hours in advance. Like many of the resturaunts downtown, they give the vibe that you are lucky to get food from them. Instead of appreciating your current AND would be customers. In addition, any negative review that is put on Google is met with the owner doing a sales pitch about their local ingredients and how popular they are among their wealthy clientele. Because that's who their clientele actually is, wealthy locals and wealthy tousits. They don't address the actual issue the customer had in their review or state they will work to remedy it. She uses it as a chance to talk about how great her restaurant is. Obviously, if someone has written a negative review about your business, there is a valid reason you may need to address. Instead of, you know, using it as a chance to self promote. read more

Thank you for catering our Thanksgiving! It took us 30 minutes to set up and cleanup everything, and received so many compliments on the beautiful spread! Everyone went back for seconds :) Pricing was fantastic : for two main dishes, and three sides, we paid $20 per person. At least four stars maybe five depending on what you order. The pizza is fine though not to me exceptional but the salads and baked goods are beyond great. The trout salad which is under ten dollars yet comes with a generous helping of smoked trout plus apples and walnuts is a very healthy lunch alternative to pizza. The baked goods inclusive of their cherry nut bars and their famous mini donuts and bear claws are the stand-out favorites but everything I've tried has been very good. Overall a great place for pizza or lunch as well as an ideal bakery to pick up bread or sweets to take home with you, too. read more

We popped in mid-afternoon while road tripping, and although the selection was sparse, I was still able to find something that caught my eye. I ordered two florentines, something I had never seen in a case before, while my boyfriend opted for a bottle of Bridge Brew Works, one of the several local craft beers availble. Each florentine had two thin florentine cookies (an Italian dessert with honey and almonds) sandwiched together with a thick layer of frosting (white chocolate on one and chocolate on the other). This place is fantastic. If you visit Lewisburg, and don't visit this shop, you're missing a treasure! Go here for pastries, freshly baked bread and pizza, and great sandwiches. The people here are also very friendly. After my second day of going, I had the cashier Charlie say hi to me by name! The baker will discuss the bread, and answer questions you have about the baking process. Just make sure they're open before you visit, because they have weird hours, and are not open every day. Everything here is well priced. The pizza is light, with plenty of flavor. And lunch sandwiches are amazingly affordable and delicious. And the pastries are so beautiful. For breakfast I like getting a buttered baguette, and a hot tea or coffee, for a total of $2.25, it's cheaper than McDonalds! The tea is a whole leaf tea of great quality, and the bread is baked fresh daily. The tea is $1.25 if you use their cup, or $1.00 if you bring your own cup. The buttered baguette was only $1.00. For lunch I like either their freshly baked pizza, or made to order hot sandwiches, both made with their own homemade dough/bread. You can get a unique sandwich with unsurpassed flavor and quality, with a side salad for a total of 7$'s. And don't worry about having to wait on a waiter, because this is a laid back place where you order over the counter, and sit yourself. For dinner, I love the pizza--16 inch, shared with one partner. read more

Sparse selection on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The pastries were almost non-existent. We purchased 2 loaves and went on our way.

Pizzas were good, a lot of options to choose from. We had the Buffalo pizza and the Three Pigs pizza. Both were very good, thin crust cooked perfectly and flavorful. Yes, I'm updating this only a few days apart. However, I needed to. You must try some of their cheesecake as well as their burgers! Wowza! I had the bacon burger. It was served on homemade rye bread. It was cooked to order and was so juicy and perfect. I'm not a big fan of rye bread, but this bread was actually really good. The cheesecake was the perfect ending to my meal. I see it's been awhile since it's been reviewed. The bakery is now fully open for business on a regular schedule. The pizza is amazing! The best in the area, and possibly the state! Just be warned that you can't order a whole pizza before 4pm. But you can always get a slice, or two, or five! The pastries and desserts are to die for. We usually get a chocolate mouse torte. The pizza was excellent, the staff was friendly and attentive, the crust was one of the best pizza crusts I have ever had. While we did not try any of the desserts, there was a wonderful selection of freshly baked desserts in the case that all looked wonderful. I was on vacation in White Sulphur Springs and we drove into Lewisburg to check out the town. We pulled over to ask someone where the closest car wash was, and the first thing that caught my eye was the chocolate chip cannoli in his hand! He pointed to Greenbrier Valley Baking Co. and the rest is history. I had the chicken quesadilla lunch special (which was awesome) and took a variety of baked goods to go. I highly recommend the cashew apricot bars, pistachio baklava and of course my very favorite the chocolate chip cannoli! Do not miss this place, even if you're just passing by you need to make a point to stop in. Very reasonably priced and the service was very friendly, but some of the people there (not GBVC people, other customers) were rude and one lady was having a cow b/c they didn't have hot water the second she asked for it. read more

Just had the Best Greek Pizza ever! Thin crispy crust oozing with feta and mozarella, Greek olives, small slivers of red onion. Walked in 10 minutes to closing. They were gracious and insisted in taking care of us. While waiting had square of cherry crunch dessert, which alone may be worth the three hr trip to this place in the future. I love the GVB Baking Co even though you can't always get a parking space right next to the restaurant, it's usually a short walk in the scenic little town of Lewisburg. My favorite times to go in is when the owner is on the premise and cooking and creating in the back - regardless, there is always good foot afoot. It is a small business with limited seating, but you can go in with friends and stay as long as you like, or carry out. My favorites are the homemade breads and specialty dishes. You'll get authentic food prepared by a chef who knows what she's doing. It has become my favorite spot to eat when visiting Lewisburg, WV. read more
