I am so excited that Eagle Rock has a quality italian, non-hipster restaurant!!! This place is definitely top notch - from the modern, industrial decor to the simple yet elegant cuisine. The restaurant has large open front windows which makes for a great breeze and a lovely view at sunset. We were lucky enough to have both tonight :) I loved the little touches throughout the place as well...tiled bar front, lantern and woven basket- like lamps, wooden beams....so beautiful. As far as food goes, the arugula salad is an absolute must! The garlic bread was great too and all our pasta had wonderful flavor as well. I realllyyy loved my gnochetti with sausage and my husband enjoyed the pasta with pomodoro sauce. We had also never had such great italian beer before! My only gripe is that the prices are qquuiiittteee steep for the portion size. The pasta dishes range around $12-17 and I guess are more akin to true European portion sizes...but for this gal, I was a little shocked. The dishes were SOOO smaaaalllll - I would have expected them to cost about $8 by look/size alone. This is an Italian version of a fast casual restaurant in ever-growing Eagle Rock. You order at the counter and pay, pick up your number, your utensils and water, then choose your seat. Food will be brought to your table. Other than this, no table service is offered. Meatballs with polenta ($9) - the meatballs were very tender with loads of flavor, but the polenta was an afterthought. For the price, I would order something else. Pork gnocchetti ($13) - very flavorful, hearty, al dente pasta. This is not to be confused with gnocchi, which is a pillowy, potato pasta. The portion is nicely sized for one or two to share. Mushroom gnocchetti ($14) - this pasta was quite the opposite. It was soupy and bland with muddled flavors. I would not recommend it. I really wanted to love this place, but 2 of the 3 dishes were not what I thought they should be. I found this restaurant a few months back after the reopening of everything. And might I kindly say this spot is now one of my favorite places in Los Angeles. The food is delicious - I had bruschetta and this pasta with meat last time I was there a few weeks back and both were so tasty. Even the red wine that the handsome waiter (I think he's from Italy) suggested was, how do you say, spectacular. Blair's was definitely some delicious pasta and a great meal. I'm confused how they close at 9pm on a Saturday night, but I have to say it was great tasting food. We had dinner here with Cindy and Greg after first stopping for a couple drinks at the Colorado Wine company (see other review). Blair's only has 1 beer on tap, but it was a good one. For the food, we had the following: 1) Bruchetta Burrata with Tomato - 5 stars 2) Fried Calamari - 3 stars (nothing special) 3) Grilled Octopus - 4 stars 4) Gnocceti w/ pork sausage - 5 stars 5) Tonnarelli Puttanesca - 5 stars. The portions seemed a bit small to me for the price, but overall it was a great meal. I will happily return one day, especially because it is so close to where I live. I am glad that I found Blair's on Yelp (and I think that I have been to the Silverlake location before as well). A good reasonably priced Italian restaurant that serves great tasting food. read more

I ordered on door dash, they give to a random pickup person without verifying it was the right driver. So when our dasher showed up there was no food to pick up, we waited for an hour. I get it mistakes happen. Decided to give them a second chance. Ordered again but for pick up this time. We order and drive there to pick up essentially the same meal but when we arrive they tell us sorry no more pizzas left, my original pizza they gave to the wrong driver was the last. Nice. So glad we tried this restaurant on Thursday! Beautiful ambiance, high ceilings, exposed wood, huge windows...but, most important, absolutely delicious food and terrific service. We shared everything: grilled octopus, calamari, market salad then Jidori chicken and short ribs. I think our favorite was the gnocchetti with sausage but it's hard to pick just one. Man alive, this place is a hot mess. First and foremost, the food is excellent. Perfect portions, great aesthetic and great taste. 5 Stars for that. The food is all that works for this place, however. I arrived on a Saturday evening to find myself standing awkwardly in the doorway waiting to be seated. Once I was finally seated, it took 18 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge my party to take our order. Once we finally got to place our order, the server was very rude and had a very pretentious attitude. At this point, we realized it wasn't only us, but both tables to either side of us were beginning to have unpleasant experiences as well. Both tables attempted to order pasta dishes, only to be told that the pasta machine was "acting up" and that they couldn't order pasta, AT AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT. Another table weren't even offered menu's after sitting around for 10+ minutes and finally had to go up and ask for some. After asking for a check, our server came by and tossed it down onto my table, as I was reaching for it. A small gesture, but a gesture everyone perceived as very rude. In his defense, I had brought up the lack of attention to whom I assume was the executive chef (I asked for a manager and got a chef, which is weird, as I had ZERO complaints about the food) so maybe he was aggravated at me requesting a manager (the chef was very kind). What this experience tells me is that this place is understaffed and SEVERELY mis-managed. I believe the reason they brought out the chef to speak with me was because there was no manager at the time. I believe not having someone to manage the front of house is a big mistake for a restaurant to make, especially on a Saturday night. In the end, this is potentially a place I would have came back to time and time again (The building is SUPER cool and the lighting is perfect), but I am a firm believer that good service can make up for bad food but good food cannot make up for bad service. read more

This young lady brought in food from a restaurant across the street because she's allergic to dairy and gluten. Moved back to eagle rock after 6 years and saw there's a lot of new places I get to try right next o my new place! One of the firsts was this place. Nice ambience and it's a super simple concept with little use for waiters. Kind of a self serve place and pick your own seating. You order first and grab your water from the cashier station and take your number to the table. Cashier was very helpful in choosing the items to eat. A little like a pasta tapas place where portion aren't super huge like most Italian places so I liked that. You probably want to order 1-2 appetizers and 2 main dishes to share from. We started w the cauliflower which we both loved. My wife ordered the Pomodoro tonnarelli which was decent but wish there was a little meat in it. Maybe the meatballs next time. I ordered the torchietti which was DELICIOUS! Definitely a must try. Pricing wasn't too bad either. In all I am definitely going to come back and try other dishes. Blair's in Eagle Rock is a notable neighborhood spot. Casual and worthy. It is similar to Blair's in Silver Lake with a similar menu, but designed to be a more informal. This location does not take reservations. This adheres to the neighborhood feeling. One other point is the simplicity of the room. Tables that have a wall of windows that open out to the foothills and the bar and service area behind. The website mentions "Comfort food · Casual · Good for groups" and I can agree. The menu is designed It seems for sharing small plates and the times that I have visited have supported this. Many unexpected dishes, but among my favorites: Arugula salad (!), broccolini, octopus with potatoes, roasted chicken and roasted trout. A simple and elegant menu that echoes the Silver Lake location with the same attention to detail. This location has become among my neighborhood stars and I will look forward to trying more of the menu. read more

I almost don't want to write a review for Blair's because I want to keep all the goodness to myself! Haha. This is the BEST HIDDEN RESTAURANT in the area. No doubt about it. They are only open for dinner, close early and have limited menu items... but you will not be disappointed. Okay, now a few of my favorites. The bruschetta burrata with tomato is delicious. It comes in four slices and the cheesy goodness makes my tummy happy. The arugula salad is so flavorful and different, it's one of the few things I always order. The cauliflower is crunchy and perfect. A few of my favorite pastas are the gnocchetti with pork, which has the perfect amount of crunch and flavor and the tonnarelli with pancetta which is egg based and tastes like something I had in Paris! Talk about yum. Mmmm.. my mouth is watering. Their tiramisu dessert is exceptional. I love the decor. The windows open letting in a lot of air and gives the space a nice feel. The plates I absolutely love! I really don't know what to say besides the fact that everything is out of this world. The taste and quality is consistent. It's always my first choice for dinner no matter what the occasion is. After my first night here, I kept coming back for weeks. I didn't want to eat anywhere else!! (Which is a shocker, trust me!) Came to Blair's on a Saturday evening at 8pm. The restaurant wasn't completely full but was "busy". Servers were literally running through the restaurant. We were seating quickly but the experience kinda went down hill from there. First our server threw our menus & water down on our table. He did not introduce himself, say I'll be right with you, literally spoke zero words to us. We then waited 18 minutes for him to return. When he finally did he asked if we were ready to order (no thanks for waiting or anything to welcome us to the restaurant) we asked to speak with the manager, who was nice & offered us garlic bread on the house. When our server returned he clearly had an attitude. On the other hand, the food was delicious. The pasta we had was great & the garlic bread was also very tasty. Prices were a little steep but not what I would call "over priced". The vibe here is super cozy. Dimly lit, exposed brick walls & huge windows that make the entire restaurant seem open. I don't completely blame the staff for our poor service experience. I genuinely think the owner/managers should know on weekends they'll be busier & schedule more staff to accommodate. For a busy Saturday night there were only three servers, all of which had to tend to the bar while waiting the tables. I think I'd give Blair's another visit but at a time when they're less busy or increase their staff numbers. read more

I'm a huge fan of their chicken liver bruschetta. It is honestly better than anything foie gras I've ever tasted and without the oiliness or guilt from how the livers are sourced. I have enjoyed both the Putanesca and the sausage Gnocchetti with gusto alone with a glass of red (Pinot Noir). I like the unassuming nature of the place; you order up front and they give you a number. Usually, your order comes out pretty quickly and then nom nom nom bomb.com. My son, a very finicky eater, also loved the sausage Gnocchetti because it was very cheesy and tasty and he's a mac and cheese purist. So this is also great for groups that include kiddos. Street parking only but their turnaround is fairly quick and they have plenty of tables. I can't wait to try more of their dishes and I hope they expand their menu when things become seasonal. read more

I'm loathe to give Posto Giusto the rating they deserve only because it will ensure they get more business, making return visits much more crowded. But return we will because this little Italian startup is excellent on all accounts. The menu may be limited but everything on it is extremely tasty. The fast-casual format also invites repeat trips to the counter for more. It struck me as almost an Italian tapas bar, if there could be such a thing, only the bites aren't too small to share. We had s large group of 9 that they were able to accommodate without issue-again, it's not too busy yet-and the help yourself nature of the service really allowed for the table to dine at a relaxed pace. Speaking of the service, it was remarkably spot on for a place that had only been open for a little more than a week. Looking forward to how Posto Giusto matures. read more

I love Blair's. It's one of my very favorite restaurants in the area. Everything I've tried is so tasty. They're incredibly accommodating to little changes based on dietary needs. I absolutely love the market salad, it's so simple but the dressing is incredible. I could eat it every day. I also like the gnocchetti , it's such a great rustic pasta that has lots of pockets and ridges for sauce. The mushroom gnocchetti is one of my favorites. The tiramisu is the best I've had. We called before heading over to make sure a table was available and we were told to come in. When we arrived, the host was very cold and not welcoming at all. We felt like we were disturbing him. A table outside was 15mins wait so we asked if we could have a drink at the bar while waiting and our question was welcomed with a sigh and a cold "sure". Very poor customer service. First of all the atmosphere is 10/10 on the patio. The sea bass was literally incredible. Calamari was so delicious. Not chewy at all. Pastas are amazing. Eggplant was delicious. Service and ambiance is great. Very lovely people who work at this location. We ordered calamari, meatballs & polenta and the grilled sea bass. The calamari was tasty. However the sea bass and massive amount of aioli was inedible. Flavor was off and fish seemed old. The aioli plop was the same size as the fish- who eats that much mayonnaise based anything? The meatballs & polenta were bland and not cooked well. It was not a good meal and unfortunately nobody even asked why we didn't eat these dishes. The bus person just cleared the full plates and the sever asked if we wanted dessert. We love the Blair's on Rowena. Confused why this Colorado location menu and execution is so different. I'd give it one more chance because the original location is so consistently good. However our food last night was very very poorly done. So Blair's is an italian joint....very nice industrial decor dimly lit restaurant. Ordered the calamari appetizer which was very good. Enter I had the spaghetti bolognese which was really incredible. The sauce was thick and stuck to the pasta....they didn't rinse the noodles which made it starchy (excellent). The two other people in my party order the pasta with mushrooms and pasta with sausage. My partner and I had dinner at Blair's Eagle Rock on Saturday January 11th around 7:00. We've had dinner before when it had another name. The food is really good. I had a great arugula salad and eggplant parm. The service was not good at all ! We sat and no one acknowledge us for a good 10 to 15 minutes. No special we're mentioned. We even had to go get our own menus. It's a shame that Blair's Eagle Rock couldn't match their good food to the service. I don't fault the waiters. Management and or the owners should take full responsibility for the poor service. Hopefully, the waiters can be better supported or trained to make Blair's Eagle Rock a destination restaurant. read more

I always love this place! Out of the four times I visited, there's only one time Blair's was overflowing with customers. Usually the restaurant has lots of seats, and the ambiance is quiet and romantic. The first time I had their Caponata burrata bread I was blown away. My husband who doesn't like eggplants at all also loved this dish, we devoured this dish within minutes. I ordered pasta here a couple times, one time it was puttanesca I cannot remember what I ordered other times. They are all very good, rich in flavors and on the heavier side. My husband ordered the jidori chicken here once, and it was the juiciest chicken I ever had. The cream sauce with beans and chard was also fantastic, I tried to scrape every bit of the sauce off the plate. I don't know how this place is not blowing up with weekend diners all the time, maybe I just got lucky the couple times I came here. I kinda wish it stays uncrowded so I can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere, but I also wish more people know how great this place is! The fresh made pastas make this little Italian restaurant definitely worth checking out. We ordered when we walked in and then found a quiet seat next to the exposed brick and timber walls. We loved the atmosphere, and the food was even better. The prices are affordable, but the portions are smaller so we ordered four to share. We ordered the Arugula Salad and Charred Cauliflower to start (pictured) and then had the Gnocchetti with Pork Sausage, and the Pomodoro Tonnarelli. This restaurant has been a rock solid go to favorite for an easy, pleasant, impeccable Italian small dish dinner for me and my wife for a long time. It's a delightful last minute good, consistent, and chill dinner. Been here 4 times now and each dining experience and meal has been a total pleasure. Don't expect entree sized meals. Order up a bunch of different small dishes, share them, and don't be cheap about it. Splurge a little. It's quality over quantity here. Each dish is usually so good that we end up getting it over and over again. We are occasionally more adventurous and try new, to us, items, and those are always fresh, interesting, and flavorful. Since you can't see the kitchen, it's unfortunate to be missing out on all the work, attention and nuance that must go into each beautiful dish. Our personal favorites lately are the eggplant parmigiana, one of the best versions ever, any of their small plate pastas dishes, and definitely the Arugula salad - if you're into Arugula salads. Maybe not every item is great, but most of them are, and they are clearly committed to developing the menu and creating incredible unique delicious food. It was love at first site! Italian cuisine is so gorgeous- and sometimes when people try to innovate, it becomes something less desirable. Also, remember that there's a California style for Italian food, every place has radicchio like salad with a light lemon dressing, or has some kinda of caprese dish, or some kinda of penne pasta dish, but this place seemed a little bit different- they seem to know what they're doing when it comes to real authentic Italian food. I first started out with eggplant Parmesan. Stacked on top of each other with just the right about of breadcrumbs, cheese, herbs, sauce & oil, and then finished off with sauce, cheese and parsley. Wowza! So delicious! Probably the best I have had. I love Union in Pasadena, but they don't offer this dish- but, Maybe they should. ;) I also ordered the "garlic bread" with just the right amount of garlic, butter and crunch. So delicious! I'm Definitely going back for more. So now let's talk about the Market Salad. Frisée lettuce mix with Lemon Garlic Dressing, Herbs, and light marinated sweet pickles. Simply heaven!
