Best burger hands down! i really recommend stopping by waay better than the one in clovis nm

We stopped here to grab a few burgers before going to our hotel across the street. I walked in and it looked a bit run down and dated but there were people in there eating and we were starving so I figured it would be fine. I ordered 3 Itsaburgers with cheese and 2 large seasoned fries. The girl at the counter apologized because it was her first time on register and she took quite a while finding the buttons. I smiled and said, "no worries." A good 5 to 7 minutes later she gave me a total of $26.92. I paid with cash and stepped aside for the next customer. I realized this was going to be a while so I decided to run across the street and just throw my bags in the room. This took maybe 5 minutes. I walk back into this burger joint to see some girl just throwing the burgers on the grill. I bit my tongue, realizing that things are a little slower paced out here so I patiently waited. I started looking at the menu again and realized that the burgers I had ordered were only 3.09,and with cheese an additional 50 cents. My whole order should have been maybe 17 bucks. So i go back to counter and,ask girl to please explain the receipt to me as I believe I was ridiculously overcharged. She looks at the receipt and to the menu board maybe a good 4 times back and forth and finally says, "oh, it's because you got cheese." I said "no, the cheese is 50 cents and these burgers say 4.69 on the receipt and 3.09 on your menu." She then calls the mgr over who is another young girl and she looks to the menu board and to the receipt several times and a few minutes later says, "oh, you ordered double meat" which I said, "no, i'm sorry I did not" I ordered 3 Itsaburgers, which on the menu state 3.09. At no time did I ask for double meat. So I said maybe your cashier hit the wrong button but i'm sorry, I just want singles. She goes oh well I already have 6 patties. Now while this is all going on, the mgr is wiping her nose with her hand and snotting and sniffling all over. I was thoroughly disgusted. All of a sudden she yells out, "oh god your burgers are burning" and runs to the grill then I hear her yell to the new cashier, "do you know how to cook burgers?" That was it, I said "i'm really sorry, you guys look like you might be understaffed and having a rough night. I apologize but i'm going to cancel the order, I just want my money back." The cashier goes, "oh, it's just that our cook is on break" ???? Your cook is on break and your snotting manager is cooking on the grill???? I really was just dumbfounded by this whole experience. Traveling through the area decided to try Blake's Lotaburger. I've never seen a more disorganized place, the person taking orders needs help. Several people in the kitchen area doing I don't know what. I was next in line to order, the person taking orders says she has to take a call, but that person has hung up (ha), & now it's my turn....nope. The order person is yelling at person that ordered earlier; I got disgusted & left. Food may be great? Service sucks! read more

Blake's was introduced to me by brother-in-law, a native of Las Cruces. As I've never resided in New Mexico, I was grateful for the recommendation of a fast food establishment with character. The standard burger with green chile is a favorite of mine. Coupled with their crisp onion rings and a shake, I can say that I was super happy with my meal. A fun little thing about Blake's is that they have milkshake flavours that change every so often. I enjoyed the pumpkin shake this time and it matched well with everything. As for the dining experience, I didn't notice any flies, the tables were cleaned, and while the order took a little longer than standard fast food place, it wasn't outlandish. The floor's reflection showed a lack of cleanliness, but everything else seemed fine. Maybe because we were there for dinner on a cool night, we noticed no flies and had no issues with smells other than cooking hamburgers. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. Absolutely the worst dining experience in my life. Waited five minutes for someone to take my order, a woman literally just stared at me from near the grill and finally came to take my order. Wish I could opine on the food, but after waiting 20 minutes for it to come up, I went to check on it and noticed nothing was on the grill and they hadn't even started my order. Only two orders came up in those 20 minutes, so they weren't busy. I just walked out, didn't even ask for a refund since the fat woman who took my money didn't look capable of managing that task. I ordered from this place with my bf. We dined in. He got the DM Lotaburger and I got the regular Lotaburger. One order of fries and one of onion rings. Two drinks. Both of our sodas lacked carbonation but we were not upset about it. I do think the meat needed a little seasoning, and buns were cold. The best part of the burger was the green chiles. Fries were good, onion rings were decent but I would not order again. read more

My wife (Libertad Green) and I agree that the hamburgers we had here were perhaps the worst we've ever had. Even MY homemade hamburgers are better than these, and I don't cook. Also, the young man at the counter, with a cast on his hand and wrist, who also cooked the hamburgers (disturbing), was unfamiliar with one of the items on the menu, Carne Adovado Burrito. I knew more about it than he did, since it was in Spanish, which he apparently didn't read, write, or understand. I would only recommend this diner to people who "like it fast and greasy," burnt and prepared by a stranger with a cast on their hand. NOTES to OWNERS: List all of your menu items in English in the U.S.A. Ensure that all your employees who take orders from customers are familiar with all of the items on your menus. Ensure that all the personnel cooking your menu items don't have obvious injuries on their hands, especially when they're cooking right in front of the customers. read more

I had a lotaburger today for the first time and second Bill"s decor comparison with In'n'out of California. The burger was fresh and decent, but much more bun than I'd care for. I had the chili cheese fries (sans cheese) and they had a decent heat to them. The staff were hometown friendly and the place is clean. I'd eat here again. read more

We had a good experience here. Was kinda worried due to the reviews but the food was good and so was the service. Would eat here again.

Dear Blake, Let me tell you why you only have a total of 2 1/2 stars - and only 1 from me. You are just off of a main interstate. People exit for 3 reasons - gas, food, and facilities. People come to you for two of these - food and facilities. You indeed have food and restrooms - but no toilet paper! Not even a napkin to be found! Four people with anxious looks in their face informed your front cashier but she shrugged and said that she would see to it when she got to it. That was half an hour ago. Still no tp. Nobody in line. And she's cleaning the shake machine. Meanwhile I ran over to the Circle K and bought some for you and placed it in both restrooms. You're welcome. Also - we still have no food. read more

Slowest place ever I waited 25 minutes for one burger. Everyone working is slow. Patgetic

The burger and seasoned fries were actually pretty good. The service was terrible. It took 20 min to get my food. There were only 2 orders ahead of me. Maybe having more than one cook would help. The manager came in and did not lift a finger to help. All she did was check the sales for the day, 2,500 for a Sunday, and she actually high fives the cashier then vanished in the back. I've stopped here 4 times and this place is always a wreck. The first time, I arrived after a small town football game and the place was trashed and dirty. I chocked it up to them being overwhelmed by the crowd and I love the food, so I came back again. This time it was late and I was cranky. They were out of buns and Dr. Pepper. The icy goodness of a Dr. Pepper was what I wanted and was disappointed. The place was also dirty, but I was tired and hungry, so I tolerated it. Third time, I was introducing my family from out of v town to the awesomeness of the chili burger. We were there at the slowest part if the day. No one was around. They were out of fries, the place was dirty and the soda was missing 2 flavors. The last and final time I will ever go here was last week. The were out of buns, fries, one soda flavor, the ladies bathroom was so bad I waited to go somewhere else and it took 45 minutes to get my undercooked fries (they brought in fries at v the last minute and were going to charge me for the upgraded option if I didn't wait). What the heck!?! That's no way to treat customers! If you're business cannot keep food available that is a staple on the menu, you need to change your ordering it delivery service. You should discount the orders when you have issues. Hire someone who knows how to sweep, mop and wipe down tables. The bathrooms have always been disgusting. If your business was anywhere else, it would be closed. read more

Stopped here on our through town. Bathrooms were closed, not a huge deal but had to go to a gas station down the road. Came back to get food to go since dining room was closed. Stood there several minutes waiting for someone to take our order. No one came up. Empty inside so not like it was slammed. Ended up walking out. No, would not recommend. read more

We stopped at Lotaburger on our way through New Mexico. It was just ok. Nothing that I would ever go out of my way to come back for. We both had Lota burgers. I ordered green chilis in mine for 50 cents more, since this is New Mexico after all. Sadly, I barely tasted my chili since what I got was maybe half a chili or less on my burger. You'd think that since I paid extra, I'd at least get a good amount of chili. See the picture for reference - what I expected to get (in the picture from their website) and what I actually got. Sad. Yes superficially it isn't pretty and it could use some renovation. But it reminds me of old 50's burger places in Oklahoma. The food is much better than any other fast food place in the area though. Stopped here for dinner and got a Burger with green Chiles which were super spicy for me but still delicious. Don't judge it by its exterior. read more

Our experience at this Blakes was very good. We ate here twice in 12 hours on our stopover. Not problems with our orders, friendly service especially Mark who was working early on Saturday Morning. If you own this location, give Mark a raise. He made an amazing Green chili breakfast burrito. Love Lot a Burger Double meat greenchili cheeseburger. read more

Not great. Had an ITSA combo. Burger didn't come with chiles like I asked and was printed on the receipt. Tomatoes were green and hard. The burger patty was way overcooked and basically flavorless cardboard. Seasoned fries are just basically lightly battered, I couldn't detect much of any seasoned flavor. McDonalds across the street probably does a way better job. read more

The people leaving negative reviews are clearly from out of state. Blake's isn't McDonald's or Burger King. They're privately owned and do everything themselves and their food is always made once ordered, not left sitting under heat lamps. There's always a wait but the food is super well worth it -- especially for breakfast burritos. Get over it or get out! read more

Typical Blakes. No frills and a little beat up inside but its still beats the other chain joints around in my opinion. Definitely a New Mexico mainstay. But I gotta say Tucumcari is just about a ghost town! I wouldn't try to go any further in than this place. Get your food and gas and get back on the road!! read more

First and foremost, CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE YOU LEAVE! Just as many reviews on here say, they mess them up pretty consistently. The guy in front of us came back with completely different stuff than he ordered, and ours was with the wrong burgers and one was missing cheese. Now, onto the review. The location is incredibly convenient, right next to three hotels (including ours). The place looks pretty run down, and had lots of flies inside. One guy seemed to have a general idea of what he was doing. The rest of the staff looked like they weren't entirely sure where they even were, looking confused and anxious the whole time. We ordered 2 of the same combo, with mine having added green chilis. We both got burgers and fries (but they were supposed to be doubles), mine at least had the green chilis....but my wife's had no cheese, and we got small fries instead of large as was on the receipt. With the guy before us having a messed up order, I should have checked before I left, but I thought "can't really mess up a burger and fries". Apparently the confused looks were for a reason. Going with three stars because I enjoyed my burger, and liked the fries. My wife didn't even eat half. They need to have a staff meeting and get their stuff together, cause they could get way more business of they actually tried. read more

We stopped at Lota Burger as we were passing through New Mexico. This looked like a place we could get a quick local burger, but they took upwards of 45 minutes to serve us our order. It was so slow, but there were only a few people eating there and there were plenty of employees. When they finally served us our order to go, they forgot to put a burger patty on my dad's burger. Just walked out of this place! There were about 20 flies in there. On the drink machine, in the air, on the condiment station and even landing on the burgers before the lady bagged them up. Employees were nice, but dripping with sweat. They were wiping their sweat and touching their sweaty faces and then putting on gloves without hand washing. It was about 90 degrees in there. Restaurant is dirty including food prep area. It is very hot inside as current cooling system cannot keep up with mildly warm temperatures outside. Restrooms are not kept clean enough to be considered a good travel restroom. Staff is very slow in everything they did. Took 40 minutes to only realize our order was bypassed as the receipt got lost. Only five orders got made it that time. Not a good restaurant to eat at if in a hurry while traveling or even if you live in town. Food looked below average, everything was sort of slopped on the burger like the staff didn't care ( I watched staff make food while waiting). Staff was flipping each other off as they must has disagreed on something. Ended up getting money back and going to McDonald's across the street where I got my food within 5 minutes. read more

We stayed at La Quinta last night and needed a quick bite so we headed directly across the street to Blake's Lotaburger. The staff was friendly and the menu was varied but simple. I ordered the Itsa combo. I should have opted for double meat because my patty was about a 1/3 smaller than the bun. I guess I will know for next time. The fries were cooked perfectly and nicely salted. With very few choices in Tucumcari, Blake's Lotaburger was not a bad place to stop. read more

I AM from New Mexico and we go to Blakes in Albuquerque all the time. The service here was very slow. The staff was joking around and clearly not in any hurry. The bathroom was dirty and the door did not lock. One of the girls on the front counter and in the dining room had a shirt on that was so dirty it looked like it had never been washed. We waited 25 minutes for one lotaburger, regular nothing special on it and one regular fry. The burger and fries were warm but not hot. I will not be visiting this Blakes again. I am surprised that there are any good reviews here. I work in fast food and the management needs to take a good look at what's going on - your business is going to go across the street. read more

My husband was searching for the famous NM green chili burger, & Blake's was recommended to us since Tucumcari does not have a large selection of restaurants. I had the Lotaburger with cheese & green chilies, & my husband had the same plus bacon. He thought it was great. I found the chilies to be a little spicy for my taste, but the burger was good. Great onion rings. Would go back when taking the incredibly boring drive down the I-40. read more

We live in Tucumcari and used to go to Lota Burger a lot but lately the place has changed .It's not clean, no air conditioning and lousy service. We went today on my husband's lunch break at 2:00 in the afternoon. he only has an hour and we had waited 40 min for our order.we got our money back and went through the drive through at McDonalds. I counted 6 people in the kitchen playing around and people waiting for their food. will never go back! read more

Everything was absolutely disgusting. I could see and feel the dirt on the tables and the floor. There was no music playing in the background which made me feel like I was at a funeral.
