Seasoned fries

Don't let the exterior or even the interior needing a coat of paint keep you from trying these amazing burgers Everything is made fresh to order which is a huge plus and they weren't busy so it didn't take long to get our food. We both got the double with green chilis and we added back. The burger was cooked perfectly and extremely filling. The seasoned fries were so good and fried to perfection. The onion rings were basic and wouldn't order again The brewed tea was fresh as well. I do wish you could get your own ice instead of having to ask for it. Overall can't wait to stop back by here. Plus side is there's truck parking across the street or in the dirt lot next door.

Great food, great service, what's not to love? We ordered a couple burgers with various degrees of customization plus fries, onion rings, and a biscochito shake.

First time to visit a Blake's Lotaburger a few weeks ago while on a SW roadtrip. I really enjoyed my burger and onion rings, but my favorite part was the seasonal piña colada milkshake! The bits of pineapple and coconut were so flavorful, and the shake was creamy and refreshing. Wish I could get one in Oregon! Until I visit again...

Blake's is a great place to stop in Tucumcari! It's a cute classic diner with quick service. Great customizable burgers. The fries weren't my favorite, but it's worth a stop just for the shake! The pineapple and coconut chunks were delicious tidbits in a creamy, sweet shake. I'll be dreaming about that shake tonight!

Pina Colada shakes!

The burgers are so good, but the Pina Colada shake is UNREAL! The ice cream had the perfect amount of sweetness and the balance of coconut and pineapple was perfect! I loved the option of fresh squeezed 100% pure orange juice! The vibes are immaculate. Loved the retro photos on the wall. The circle booth was so fun! This hole in the wall is THE place to stop in Tucumcari! Make it your next stop!

I decided to try the local Blake's Lota Burger instead of going with the national food places. It was my first time so I asked the employee named Ray who took my order for his recommendations. I only knew I wanted some bacon on my burger. Ray recommended Blake's "New Mexico Style Lota Burger", with the Chopped Green Chili, Cheese and Bacon. He also recommended the seasoned French fries. So I went with his suggestion. The seasoned fries were amazing and reminded me of Jack In The Box seasoned fries, but Blake's are a lot better. The chopped green chili's provided a really pleasant bite of flavor. If I get a chance to eat here again before I get back on the road, I think I'd order the same thing except I'd leave off the tomato, double the pickles and double the bacon, have them salt it a little more and if it were at lunch I'd add some Jalapeños. I like that they have a lot of toppings available to choose from. I'm really glad I decided to try something new. Ray recommended the Cheesecake Milk Shake, and that sounded amazing, but I went with a diet Coke since I didn't want a lot of sugar at dinner time. I love breakfast burritos, eat them often in California and haven't bad one since I've been traveling America. So I was happy to see that Blake's has several different kinds of burritos on its breakfast menu. Ray recommeded getting a breakfast burrito with bacon, and add sausage and chopped green chili. Which is exactly what I was thinking. I don't usually mention employees in my reviews, but I asked Ray his name for this review because he was very friendly and eagerly gave me suggestions as a first time customer. The decor inside reminded me a lot of a California In-In-Out Burger style. There were several couples ordering when I arrived, and three people came in while I was waiting for my order. The counter person who took over for Ray after I ordered, talked to them like they were regulars. It says a lot about a place when it has regular frequent customers known by name. I really like the green chili on a burger.

Slow, which caused a cluster of customers at counter. Improper mask wearing (noses uncovered) by both staff and customers.

I visited on a Monday evening, around 5pm. That's usually the time us old folks eat. I had no issue getting a table. Promptly seated, I ordered a beer and my dinner. The menu is a good mix, something for everyone. I ordered the Chili Rellenos. Of course I ordered that. Hey, when in Rome..... My meal was served quick and hot. Waiting a minute to cool was definitely in the cards. No problem, I had my beer, salsa and chips to occupy me while the steam settled. After a bit, I dug in. First fork was the rice. Oh, was that rice ever good! The only problem was that there wasn't enough. I suggest that you order a side of that glorious grain. Fantastic! The refried beans, well, were ok, but just ok. The Hatch greenies, as you'd expect, were outstanding and very flavorful. I ordered them Christmas style, with green and red sauce. Both of those condiments were tasty, but of the two, the green sauce stood out. Boy did it ever. I'll be dreaming of that sauce later tonight. Hopefully my girlfriend doesn't pop into the picture.....OR, maybe she should! LoL, now that would be a dream! Don't worry about parking, as there is more than ample. You can park in the front, the back, either side, and if you're driving a big rig, pulling a trailer, or driving a tank, they've got you covered. Across the street is special parking for those vehicles. More parking outside than tables inside. Pay La Cita a visit for a romantic dinner, or as I did, by yourself....my dream trend may have helped with that. Hey, I may be old, but certainly not dead! Quick Tip: I parked in the back, and when leaving, I took the dirt alley. It was a fun adventure. I'd suggest that you do it during daylight hours though. You never know who you'll run into, or for that matter, over! Let's hope it isn't Skinny Pete or Badger.

Based off of the other Yelp reviews, I had high hopes, but unfortunately, we were let down by this place. We ordered online and ordered multiple different dishes in order to try them out. Here are the dishes that I got: Brisket Burrito: The meat was dried out and tasted several days old and reheated. The burrito also didn't seem to have the pan fried potatoes that were supposed to be in it. Tacos al Carbon: From the first bite I knew I wasn't going to eat these; the steak tasted weird, with a weird texture, and seemed old. Enchilladas: I got them with beef & green sauce; the beef had a decent flavor and texture. Stuffed Sopapilla: The sopapilla itself had a good comfort food type of taste and texture. I got it with beef & green sauce. The beef had a decent flavor and texture. As for the sides--the Mexican rice just tasted like salt, and the beans were bland and flavorless. If you're looking for fresh, yummy Mexican food--don't waste your money on this place. I have no idea how it has so many good Yelp reviews.

Found the cafe part of the place stood and pondered the menu (pretty much same menu as posted in the pics) and decided what meats we each wanted on our 2 meat plate + 2 sides. Spicy sausage link with cheese, brisket, slaw and potato salad for him; ham and turkey meat for me with the beans (warned that they'd be talking later) and slaw. Each had a big slice of bread + butter and a sugar cookie. Drinks of lemonade and unsweetened tea were all you could drink and came as part of the meal. There are canned sodas and bottled Coca Cola for an extra price. I saw there was fresh coffee in the pot. All food was very delicious, fresh made, and served generous sized portions. We had so much leftovers we have a good start on tonight's dinner/supper. On the television was the Western/INSP channel with High Chaparral playing. Blast from the past. Great Wall art all over the place, and even outside on the "patio" area where there's cooking going on (spare ribs were smoking for tomorrow's customers). This looks to be a family run business with a friendly attitude. As the husband went to pay the owner-ess started to type in the credit card machine. My husband asked "Do you take cash" to which she replied "yes, we just do see it much." There ain't many a truer statement, everywhere we go it's typically the card. Husband tried to leave a tip and she wouldn't accept it. Just come on back again. I highly recommend this place as a stop over for a leisurely, friendly meal. As we left, the husband said "Nice ole folks ... Usually we have to pay for the cookie (home baked sugar cookie) and they gave it to us free as part of the meal."

While looking for somewhere near the motel to eat dinner, I came across a couple of absolutely terrible yelp reviews from what sounded like very rude and unhappy customers. I laughed so hard at the owner's replies, I had to read them out loud to my stepdaughter. We decided anyone that supported her staff that way deserved our business. We ordered their Hatch Chile Queso dip - very tasty but a small portion for the amount of chips and price. The bar was closed and they didn't have any beers on tap. The beers we had were pretty good and the waitress did bring us cold glasses. He ordered the meatloaf with green beans and mashed potatoes with the brown sauce. The meatloaf was a little soggy, but lots of flavor and better than some dry and crumbly ones we have had at other restaurants. The potatoes had no seasoning but luckily the gravy made up for it. The greens beans came with mushrooms and onions and were pretty tasty. I ordered the Roadkill (similar to a Salisbury steak)., with the green beans and fried okra. Again the gravy was really good. The okra was your typical frozen from a bag and weren't very crispy at all. The place is fairly large and has plenty of seating. It was pretty quiet while we were there.
