The service was good, but I was disappointed with the food. I wanted to order some Mexican Food off the menu, since I was in Mexico. The options were were very few and what I ordered wasn't that flavorful. I ordered shrimp fajitas and beef nachos. The primary vegetable in the fajitas were jicama, and my fajitas only had approximately 5 shrimp that were overcooked. The beef nachos okay, but only some of the cheese was melted. read more

Blake's is an eatery that caters to blanco gente. The food is bland, perfect for those white tastebuds. The service is awful. The atmosphere is geared to Corona guzzlin ceribro muerto turistas. It took over an hour to be served our food... Why would anyone visit Puerto Vallarta Mexico and eat here? Because it is familiar? Because it makes you feel safe like at your all inclusive resort? Because "you don't have to talk Mexican"? No...we will never go to Blake's again. Never ever go to a bad restaraunt twice, This imperialist eatery also has a very bad reputation with the restaraunt owners in the neighbourhood. (we were with one, he was amazed at how LAME this place is...we laughed) When in Mexico, eat where Mexicans eat...or just go to Florida, or on one of those beloved cruise barges you people seem to love so much, or stay home in PotatoSandwichVille and go to Outback, or Taco Belle. read more

Awful. This place is awful. They've got a nice location so tourists will be lured in especially if it's on a Wednesday when they have live music playing but the food is as tasteless as the owner. We decided to leave our resort to get some street food, but a lot of the little restaurants and stands were closed. We saw this place, and decided to give it a try. There were ten of us, so we had two split up in two booths. We all ordered different items, so we can all try a little bit of everything. And everything tasted good. The food was delicious, and had great presentation. The nachos were delicious, and was loaded with beef and other toppings. The chips actually ran out before the toppings. I enjoyed everything I tried from everybody else. And service was wonderful. One of the owners, Mrs. Blake, was very friendly, and stopped by to joke with us a couple of times. read more

Fantastic place to eat. The service is great and the food is just what we needed when wanting a break from Mexican food in Puerto Vallarta. We ordered the crab cakes and they were very well made and different than what you get in the USA. Thinner and crispier but tasty nonetheless. The fish of the day was Dorado (Mahi Mahi) and this was very well prepared though the rice was bland and veggies were ok. But the highlight for me was the French Onion Soup. Wow. The onions were perfectly caramelized and the cheese was nicely melted. The margarita was perfect with specially concocted salt that is made by the bartender. We took our pooch along and they were super friendly with him as well. Will go here again for sure. read more

Worst restaurant in PV. Went for breakfast. There was one other table. We ordered drinks, a yogurt parfait and fruit. After 45 minutes, we were still not served our food. They only take cash. We were $2 shy of paying the drinks (which should have been comped after the awful service). I had to walk to our Airbnb and back for 2 shitty margaritas. Whatever you do, DO NOT go to this place. We end up at this restaurant every time we are in Puerto Vallarta (ok, maybe a couple times per visit) and are never disappointed! It is great place to go to escape the All Inclusive food and you won't be sorry. The menu is fantastic as well as the food that comes out of the kitchen is both delicious and also of quality. Get the Asian wings!!! Sue was a chef in Canada and it shows. Come here if you want a fabulous meal, to hangout with ex-pat's or to watch the game you are currently missing in Canada. The Owners... Sue is very friendly and outgoing, however Mike is a little standoff-ish. Sometimes I think we subliminally book Puerto Vallarta trips so we can go back to Casa Blake's. read more

Friday is rib night. Many tables reserved, food is good and so is the service. Outside seating or in the bar area. I prefer outside much more relaxed and good people watching. Was here earlier this week and had back n wrapped large shrimp which was very good, as was the margarita. I will return next year when back in Puerto Vallarta read more

Blakes was recommended to us by some folks at the resort we stayed. They told us it was a cool little sports bar, had the hockey playoffs on TV, and the food there was really good. So we stopped by for lunch on a Sunday. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Tony (our waiter) was fantastic, very personable and friendly!! Michael (the owner, whose last name is the restaurant's namesake) was there and visiting with us as well. My wife and I had the Fish Tacos, our son had a hamburger, and our daughter had nachos. The hamburger was DELICIOUS!! It came with Gouda cheese and the traditional sides of a cheeseburger (onion, tomato, lettuce). There French Frys were hot and crisp, and delicious as well. As far as the Fish Tacos are concerned, they rank as some of my favorite of all time!!! They were absolutely WONDERFUL!!!! The order came with three; and they were very simple...fish, lettuce, tortilla, and a dipping sauce. Tony (waiter) told me they used Sea Bass. The fish was perfectly fried (no overkill with the batter), tender, and so delicious!!! If you're in PV and looking for a fantastic hamburger or delicious fish tacos, you gotta go to Blakes Restaurant and Bar, you won't be let down!!! read more

Probably bottom of the list for the many restaurants we have tried while living in PV. Several requests to our waiter were not delivered, simple things like water at the beginning of the meal. Fifteen minutes after ordering our waiter came back and said "we don't have some ingredients to make what you ordered", which is ok, just why did it take 15 minutes to figure that out. My daughter's backup order was a cheese quesadilla and when it was delivered she asked for sour cream, which was never delivered. Our server highly recommended the ribs, said they were the chef specialty, with a homemade BBQ sauce; I bit. The ribs arrived and they were massive, larger than the plate. Now, something magical happens to pork ribs when they reach around 200 degrees. The collagen breaks down, creating one of the greatest dining experiences imaginable. Tender, succulent, melt in your mouth goodness. These were not those ribs. They were not cooked long enough, making them tough stringy, and barely palatable. Ribs like these are hard to cut and with the flimsy knife and too small plate, it took my complete focus to avoid flipping them off the table or onto my dining companions' laps. Really not a great experience. The only reason I could see going here would be to watch hockey, which they had on multiple TVs and it's hard to mess up delivering beer. read more

Great relief from resort food. Shrimp diablo and the shrimp and avocado salad were our favourites. Decent fish and chips. Friendly service.

We had such fun time! We watched pro hockey and cheered for the Jets. The poutine was wonderful. The Bloody Caesar was delightful.

The food was great, but WOW, the owners are so extremely rude. They both speak English and when you come to a country where not a lot of people speak English, it's nice to work with someone who speaks English, but not these two! First of all, our server was amazing and very nice! He switched out meals that weren't made correctly and was fast and prompt to bring it out. Then, the bill comes, it's 735 pesos not including tip, half of our party had pesos and we had only American $$ on us at the time, so the server told us 13 to a dollar, and our half we put in $25 and our friend put in 500 pesos. So let's do some quick math $25= 325 pesos Plus 500 pesos would equal to 825 Making us have 90 pesos left over for a tip. The server comes back saying owner said that money we gave him just paid the 735 pesos But hold up, that doesn't make any sense, you said 13 to a dollar, no the manager rudely tells me it's 13.2 to a dollar, ok, well that that would mean you guys owe me 95 pesos??? Their was a guy sitting at the bar (a customer I assume) completely say something rude about me to the owner when I'm standing RIGHT THERE! Then, his wife, (I'm assuming) was outside the whole time drinking and smoking while we were eating outside. She comes inside to see what's going on, and screams, "we're not a f*^%ing bank!" Seriously?!!? This is how you run your restaurant? Then your going to throw the pesos at me all pissed off? Shame on you for treating your servers so horrible by stealing my 95 pesos rather than me leaving him that 95 pesos! The servers completely apologized to me for their owners manners, but honestly I feel bad because now I think how horrible he may be treating his servers. We got recommended this place, and the food was ok and service was great, but I will never tell anyone to come here to get yelled at for asking for your change back like I don't deserve it or like your stealing it from me. Left a bad taste in my mouth for sure. ZERO STARS FOR THE OWNERS AND FIVE STARS FOR THE SERVER. Too bad I had to give them a star, cause those owners don't deserve it. read more

This restaurant is very good and features a wide range of American style food... every night they have a different special, and their menu is very complete. They have authentic Poutine if you are Canadian, and in reality they have some of the best steaks, and Prime Rib in Vallarta. The owners are very friendly, and the service is very good. Try the Chicken Cordon Blu it is great... also the beers are cold, and the drinks are well poured... it is a great little establishment. read more

Food was good but our service was ok. Server rudely commented after we requested to take off meat from the meal since my friend is Vegetarian. We ordered appetizers which seemed to take a bit of time to come and then our entrees took even longer. Ordered fish and chips and fajitas which both were very good. But the server was no where in site for most of our meal and seemed cold when coming to and from the table. We came around 9pm but they are open until 11. Would not go back just because we were catered to everywhere else visiting PV and expected great service from a nice place like this. read more

Ordered mussels and bbq shrimp. Galic toast made with magerine, yuk. After an hour and no shrimp we asked for the bill than the waited said its coming and it suddenly shows up hardly even warm. Spoke to Blake and he said down 2 waiters and busy, although not that busy when we showed up an hour earlier. I asked Blake if he was concerned about poor reviews and apparantly he is not a fan of social media as simply responded "who cares". Wont go back or recommend based on the owner treatment. Being short 2 waiters should not become the customers issue. Not sure how the shrimp were as did not want to eat them cold so we paid the full bill including the shrimp and simple left. read more

We leave for PV in 3 weeks and one of the highlights of our 3 month stay is several trips each week to Blakes. Being Canadian, we love the menu Sue has put together. There are several options each night, including a special. I am giving you fair warning that if you are a rib fan you better make a reservation for Friday night because they always sell out. I think our favourite is the ribs with the fish and chips next. The portions are very generous. There is also a great roast beef, Yorkshire pudding night and a recent addition of sea bass which I cant wait to try. We have met and stayed in contact with people we have met at Blakes and cant wait to see them in January to hang out with great food and watch the games. We went to Blake's on the recommendation of another customer who had eaten there. She raved about their coconut shrimp, which I love. We sat outside right beside a restaurant window, which was fine except there really isn't a designated smoking area so we had cigarette smoke wafting over us. Our waiter could not have been less interested in serving us. He forgot to bring us menus then threw them at us through the window. He had to be reminded three times to bring my pineapple juice. When we ordered the coconut shrimp, he told us they didn't have it on the menu and didn't serve it. We ordered crab cakes instead. Our meal took 56 minutes to arrive. When it finally came, the waiter stood beside our table with the plate of food in his hand while he hugged other customers. The crab cakes were lacklustre, more filler than crab. I put a polite but accurate review on another site and received a very rude rant from the owner informing me that I was wrong and that their food and service is wonderful. Well, nope, it isn't. With all the fabulous places to eat in Puerto Vallarta, don't bother with this one. read more
