If you want a really amazing experience. Come to Joe Jack's fish shack. Hopefully you'll have Joe as your server who is amazing and anticipates everything you might need. The food is great classic foods. If you want a whole fish, this is the place to go. sit upstairs in the upper garden room which is like being in the middle of a jungle forest.

Fabulous restaurant in a vibrant street in Zona Romantica. We walked in without a reservation (probably not recommended) and managed to get seated right away in a table near the open kitchen. Service was knowledgeable and quick (but not too quick). We had a creamy and well seasoned guacamole to start with and then my spouse had the nicoise salad with shrimp and I had the fish special. It was the best seafood we had the whole trip - in a seafood centered town that is saying a lot. Flavors were balanced while also centering the shrimp/fish. Would definitely recommend.

We came by on a Sunday night at 9:30pm. We were seated right away. We had the option of sitting downstairs or upstairs which we opted for. Every staff there was very nice and welcoming. It had a great vibe. Love the hanging pothos from the ceiling. Each table got complimentary cucumber slices with lime, radish and jicama which was nice. We ordered a hibiscus drink, a passion fruit drink, their famous seafood chowder which the staff brought out in 2 bowls. Very appreciated. A shrimp and octopus cocktail and Baja fish tacos. Everything was delish. Credit cards accepted.

Food, service, and ambiance A+ here! If you get a chance, sit on the rooftop! Very romantic and earthy feel! We were greeted by the rain Gods after just sitting down, but luckily, they have a sliding roof that worked wonders to provide shelter from the downpour! Their Sea Bass was AMAZING, but unfortunately my husband couldn't eat it since it had crutons in it. We didn't use Google translate, and didn't catch that it contained gluten. We returned the dish, and our server and her manager was very nice and understanding and took the dish off our bill. My husband loved the octopus dish, but it was a downer for me. It lacked flavor and simply just didn't taste good. The passion fruit margarita was on the sweet side, so I don't recommend it if you prefer a more balanced flavored cocktail. If you find yourself at Joe Jack's, get the Sea Bass! You won't be disappointed!! Unless you have celiac, then get something other than the octopus!

Most people who know Puerto Vallarta know about this popular eatery located on the popular street Basilio Badilio in romantic zone. Street level and rooftop seating. Always friendly staff and professional service. Full bar. Credit cards. If you want to get a good meal & relaxing vibe, check it out.

It's a waste of favorite. I think we've probably gone here at least once a week for the 4 weeks we are visiting. We have many different menu items that we like. The staff are wonderful and the atmosphere is very relaxed. We love the friendliness of the whole place

Restaurant week menu item. Roasted pumpkin dip. Rich and complex.

Wowed by this place! We walked by it all week thinking it was like a Mexican version of Joes Crab Shack or something touristy and mid but it's more like fine dining at not fine dining prices. We are leaving PV tomorrow full of regret because we should have been eating here all week. The food here is truly spectacular. Drinks are top tier as well. We've had some underwhelming food, cocktails and frankly awful service at several other places around town and this place redeemed PV for us. We can't wait to return.

Absolutely a great stop. The mojitos 2 for 1 happy hour in the afternoon were spectacular. Really enjoyed the ginger variation . I loved the upstairs seating mezzanine with the retractable roof. Waitress was really kind and kept our table spotless.

I have to admit this is a very touristy place. I was reluctant to stop but i was drenched in sweat and tired from having travelled that day. However, prices were reasonable and our sweet waitress gave us ice cold towels for our neck (I looked crazy but did not care!). Our guacamole was pretty amazing plus the fish and chips were so fresh. Nothing that I could get at home. Happy we stopped here after all.

Second time here and it was as great as the first. Well with this experience, we walked by earlier in the day and notice that they had fried chicken Sunday. Yes fried chicken at a seafood restaurant. Stopped in for dinner and sat upstairs again. Main dining floor downstairs has the bar and seats along the sidewalk but upstairs. Second floor, also open air is a more intimate feel. There's also a private room there as well. Started off with the usual as last, the poke and shrimp aguachile. A plate of veggies was brought out right when you sit down. Served with a slice of lime and chili. Waiter recommended we do the smaller portion of starter as we were getting main entrees. The seafood, fresh as always and full of flavor. These two dish, I do highly recommend. For the entree, the fried or grilled whole fish. You could have them deboned it right there for you. It's a presentation in itself. It a pretty hefty size fish that's great for sharing or yourself. Served with a side of rice and beans. And of course, the fried chicken served on Sunday. That was accompanied by mashed potatoes and gravy and cole slaw. Honestly wasn't expecting too much about it as it's a seafood restaurant but it was quite tasty. Juicy with the right amount of crunch. And it's done right with bone in. I hate places that say it fried chicken but it ends up being a chicken breast. It was tasty and quite enjoyable. The table that came after us, mentioned that they were there for the chicken as well. Service was great as last. Food didn't take long to come out. Drinks good as always. It's a pretty space for a date night or a group dinner. Second time didn't disappoint either.

Overall Rating: Round 4 Location: Zona Romantica few steps ahead of Panchos Tacos. Seating: Downstairs with bar, additional seating upstairs with balcony Vibe: Casual Seafood Felt like a tourist hotspot based on the crowd Service: Quick and Good, accepts credit cards Food: Everything tasted good, margarita was good. I could tell the flavors were westernized to some extent. Ordered guacamole, grilled fish tacos, bbq chicken and grilled fish. Fish was fresh and chicken was cooked perfectly. While everything was delicious and I have no complaints, there was not one thing that stood out exceptional and memorable. Definitely recommend this place if you are in Zona Romantica area.

Joe Jack's is always hopping, almost always packed for dinner. It's a town favorite with the visiting foreigners. With no dinner plans, we walked by and they had an available table. Seafood is their specialty however they have plenty of other delicious options. Hubby ordered the fried seafood combo and I ordered the fish tacos, oh boy, were they delicious!!!

The service, food and drinks here are always , but the real star, what really brings me back is the playlists. The owners have excellent taste in music.

The room on the second floor was air-conditioned -- a godsend in June's heat -- and made the whole experience far more comfortable. Tangy, balanced, and truly memorable -- one of the best cocktails we tried during our stay. Food: outstanding. The Tuna Chicharrón taco was superb -- honestly the best taco we had in two days in PV. Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The Shrimp Ceviche tostadas were equally excellent: fresh, bright, and well composed. Service: Jesús was a standout. Friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable -- he made solid recommendations and kept the evening running smoothly. If you're nearby, do not miss this spot. One of their most iconic dishes was El Kraken, a whole small octopus, grilled and served with potatoes and tzatziki. From the taco menu, the Tres con Todo were three "tuna al pastor" tacos made of cubes of tuna with pineapple, sprouts, radish, and creamy avocado on two fried tacos--creative, but nothing too outstanding flavorwise. We continued with the Pal'Mito salad, made of hearts of palm, sundried tomatoes, avocado, spinach, bacon, and seared tuna. The Churrasco de Salmon was a perfectly tender salmon filet topped with a cream sauce and served with plantain puree and grilled corn on the cob. Finally, the Pesca del Dia was a fillet of snapper topped with mussels in pesto sauce and served over plantain puree--super tasty, though the pesto definitely overwhelmed any other flavors in this dish. Everything started off great, but then as the evening went on things really turned sour and disappointing! We were offered a table on the beach. When we sat down, there were people using the public part, which is totally ok, but many of them were smoking marijuana, which was a factor that also ruined our experience. My children do not need to be around that when dining. If the restaurant knows the beach crowd is rowdy that's fine! Just warn us! Then as the night went on, a man and woman started fighting and wound up ripping each others clothes off. I and a few other attendees had to be the ones to get involved! No police presence at all. We did not finish our meal as it felt unsafe when they were fighting. We left our steaks and drinks half finished. There was no offer of a partial refund at all.
