My favorite coffee shop & the best location! --------------------------------- Drinks: I have tried so many coffee shops in Richmond and internationally, and this place has some of the best coffee and specialty drinks, it has become my go-to spot over the last few years, for a self-care treat, friend dates, work/reading spot, and post-run coffee spot! I love how they always have a rotating specialty drinks menu with a seasonal cold foam Most recently, I tried their new sugar plum latte with hints of star anise and cardamon - which was so aesthetically pleasing with the blue butterfly powder. Also tried their banana foster iced latte which tasted like a banana bread Recommendations: -cold brew or latte with seasonal cold foam (ie pandan cold foam, pumpkin cold foam) -favorite specialty drinks: autumn spice latte (this needs to stay on the menu longer!!), grasshopper latte (pandan, mint, cocoa), ube latte -warm drinks tend to have a stronger espresso flavor imo -coffee is better than matcha, the matcha is fine but not its not their highlight (but do recommend matcha + pandan cold foam) Tips: -you can ask for drinks to be half sweetened -you can ask for half decaf, decaf lattes -oat milk is free of charge (love it!) Affordability: its 2026 prices but really good coffee Ambiance: the morris street location has a more retro aesthetic compared to the broad street's more minimalist modern aesthetic; I tend to prefer the morris street location because it's often less crowded and feels more like a local coffee shop; its also more residential and tucked away in the fan, which I recommend walking around! I got the Salted maple crème latte with oat milk, it was very creamy, but not too sweet. Perfect latte with plenty of people sitting inside and out either working or chilling. I sat at the middle table inside (like a cafeteria table) and read my book. There are also plenty of bags of coffee to purchase and multiple people bought coffee while I was in there so it must be good, made me want to buy a bag and find out. All the baristas were very nice and made a hell of a latte. If I'm back in the area I will deff be back here. read more

Good coffee, average prices. Non-sugar sweetener is limited to liquids. Noisy (at least on this day) so don't come here for serious discussion. There is an outside seating area if the weather is okay. Small parking lot, but there is on-street parking. Just watch the time limits as the ticketing trolls were in full swing. read more

I really enjoy coming here. I always get a hot vanilla latte and it tastes the same no matter who makes it. The service is sweet, everyone is always so kind and smiley. This location is pretty chill and the music is good (not too loud, not too low). A good place to catch up on some reading. read more

Blanchard's is an RVA favorite for coffee. This was my first time visiting this location and I adored it. It felt so cozy. I don't know how to say this any other way, but walking inside really felt like a community. This location is closest to VCU, so there were plenty of students working on their laptops as well as other people meeting up for some cafe drinks. I love the interior design of this spot. It has amazing natural lighting. There are seating options available both inside and on their outside patio. There is also a very tiny park right next to the shop that you can sit at. The service is great here and you're greeted with a warm smile. As always, I love Blanchard's seasonal drinks. On this visit, I got the miso brown sugar latte and really enjoyed the mix between sweet and savory. I loved visiting this location. It felt extra romantic with all the fall trees complimenting the red color of the store. I highly recommend visiting. read more

New fav Richmond coffee shop!! This is the cutest, cozy, light-filled Blanchard's location. I love the cafeteria-style community table and variety of outdoor seating too. The garage door windows are such a vibe. I got an oat milk latte and not only were the cups so cute but it was delicious!! Blanchard's is a great, reliable cup of joe at good pricing. I'm a big coffee snob and I think their espresso is very well-balanced - I usually get an oat milk latte and we also tried the Miso Brown Sugar latte with oat milk as well - yum! It was sweet without being cloying and the miso added a subtle, unique twist. The place is usually crowded, but the vibe is calm/casual and there's seating outside. The staff are always friendly/helpful too, so we definitely recommend - we'll usually stop by after picking up Nate's Bagels :) read more

Where else can you get a dollar cup of drip coffee? I love this Blanchards. It is right next to VCU but always seems to have parking. There is indoor and outdoor seating and it is on the edge of a park. My only complaint is that it closes at 2pm. I would gladly use it to study or meet friends. I prefer this Blanchard's location over the W Broad location! The vibe and aesthetic of this is super welcoming and cozy. The outdoor has plenty of seating, probably about 5 picnic tables. I tried the chai tea latte and it was SO GOOD. read more

I've tried the Forest Hill location and driven by the Scott's Addition location tons for times, but this location is off in the cut and I had noooo idea it even existed. This location is a coffee store, versus a cafe. From the front it looks like a garage, and you enter around the back (side?). It's super cute and kinda has an adult cafeteria vibe going on. It's been well over a decade since I had the pleasure of sitting at a lunch table -- the nostalgia =D According to their website, this location is their testing grounds for new offerings. The menu is really simple and easy to navigate and the service is friendly + fast. They also had a menu of seasonal options, which I ordered from. There's a refrigerator inside with bottled drinks and bags of coffee beans available for sale. For my first drink, I got the winter au lait which had vanilla, ginger and cardamom. IT CAME IN A REAL MUG AND NOT A PAPER CUP. For my second drink, I got an iced peppermint mocha. Both were good and they remembered my name when I came up the second time. Also got an Americano to-go for my partner. Such cute to-go cups! There's indoor and outdoor seating, and a teeny-tiny, (damn near microscopic!) park close by. I got a flavored latte (hot). I honestly don't even remember the flavor combo even though I was there a month ago, but I remember liking it. I got my coffee to go and walked around the neighborhood, enjoying the cute houses nearby and seeing part of the campus. If I were a college student, I'd be there all the time. I don't live in Richmond but I liked it enough that I'd go back next time I'm in town or recommend to a friend if they are visiting Richmond. read more

Cute atmosphere. Perfect for a nice day, there is shaded seating outdoors, and it is located right next to a small park where you can also enjoy your drinks. I was not a huge fan of the coffee. It seemed off. It had an almost balsamic aroma and taste. I asked the girl I was with and she said it was typical flavor profile when she tasted it. I would pass and check out something in another neighborhood. read more

I witnessed some really nasty, unhygienic behavior by the staff and their friend. I watched a barista have a conversation with a friend, and the friend was putting their hands all over the espresso machine and coffee cups while picking their nose putting their fingers in her mouth. I also saw their hair touch multiple parts of the machine and the coffee cups. The barista then used one of those cups to make someone a drink. I made a complaint to the other barista working and she looked at me like I was crazy. I never saw them address it and they kept using those same cups that had her saliva, boogers, and hair all over them. Always get your coffee to go!!! read more

The bathroom and ambiance was very cozy. The coffee was just okay in my opinion and not very many options for food. I suggest this place if you want to get some work done or read a book versus bringing a coffee to go to enjoy! read more

Both the interior and outside were very cute! I didn't have to wait long for my drinks at all and the barista was nice. I find that it isn't as crowded as the Broad Street location (at least for now). read more

Good local roaster and coffee. Their midnight oil was very good/smooth. I enjoyed the reuse of the old gas station building and can imagine on a warm day the patio space being lively. The crowd was a wonderfully eclectic mix of VCU kids and others. I bought a bag of beans and that speaks volumes. Enjoy. read more
