The ambiance was clean and orderly. Upon entering, you grab a serving tray lined with parchment and some tongs. The items are in a glass enclosed display that you have to open and place your selections on your tray for purchase. I settled on the pistachio cream filled pecan pastry, the almond twist, and strawberry shortcake. The beverage menu was extensive: matcha, flavored teas, cocoa, espresso/coffee, and more. We were greeted by pleasant staff at checkout and our orders placed in a parchment type bag for take out. They also have seating inside. The pastries were just sweet enough without being overly sweet, which I like. The pistachio cream was a perfect compliment to the pecan encrusted pastry. The almond twist was both flaky and crunchy with the sliced almonds on top, and the strawberry shortcake had layers of real strawberries, whipped topping and yellow cake that was moist. With the new nice weather, I had to try a new drink. Their boba brown sugar matcha was INCREDIBLE!!!! I was nervous since I couldn't change the sweetness to less sugar that it would be too sweet but it was the perfect amount of sweetness! The matcha flavor came out too! I have been wanting to go to this sweet place like forever and we finally close to it we made a bee line to it. The place is open, wide and airy. It's like a 180 degree set up. They have a clean set up using tongs to pick up desserts. The smiling staff greets you upon getting in which is nice. The variety of sweet selection is delightful. The mango sticks and Oreo sticks are really good. We also love our taro milk paradise and the jasmine tea. All in all our escapade in this place is enjoyable. This location is so beautiful, it is hard to believe this magical shop is tucked into a strip mall. I was happy to hear about it because I would not have known it was here. So many freshly made treats to choose from; there is also several types of beverages available. Super friendly service too. If you love baked goods and boba this is the spot for you! We got here late afternoon to check it out as it was opening day. A little sad that there were literally two or three pastries left in the center of the store, but I get it, it's opening day and towards the end of the day. There were plenty of cakes and slices of cake left though. So I bought the last Bacon bun left, a Black Forest slice of cake and an Oreo cup. All yummy of course. I accidentally ordered Brown Sugar Milk with boba.... I meant to order a milk tea with boba lol... but surprisingly delicious. Boba is by far the best in the RVA area, with the perfect chew. Brecotea is SO COOL. It's a bunch of self-serve Asian-flavor-based pastries, both sweet and savory. At the counter you can also order bubble tea. Unfortunately, dairy-free and caffeine-free bubbble teas are not really on their radar, so I didn't find anything from the bubble tea menu I wanted or could have. I was consoled by their choice of no less than FIVE (!!) hot caffeine-free herbal teas to choose from. LOVE THAT! I sometimes cant even get caffeine-free tea in a fancy restaurant or tea spot, so this was major for me. I have been to this location four times now with my girlfriends, and we usually order 2-3 patried each and split them all up to share tastes. Thank good ness for those plastic knives. When purchasing a large cold beverage, it's important to note that you are absolutely not getting what you paid for. The entire cup is packed with ice, when you pour the content out, you barely get half of what you paid for. This is how businesses are getting away with making you think you are getting something you paid for when in fact they are out right robbing you and making money selling a beverage at full price but barely giving you half of what you paid for. I challenge Anyone to buy a large cold beverage (not a milkshake) iced and get and empty cup and pour the drink without the ice and you will see that you and everyone else has been sold a small at the cost of a large all along. Turned out when they didn't make enough from the drink, they just add tap water which consisted of a fifth of the drink. I don't mind tap water but it definitely watered the drink down. I like how none of them were not too sweet, our favorite was the black forest because it was the most right amount of sweetness for our family that we could go for a 2nd or 3rd slice. Got free cake paper plates and wooden forks for it which was lovely. They pack the cake so well too because we live an hour away. Drinks: all were good, presentation wise as well. I've tasted probably 1-2 each drink section (milk/paradise, fresh fruit, milk cap, & coffee) and none disappoint. The tapioca is chewy, has a good bounce, and good texture. It was pretty well cooked. To me, getting my own pastries is great but the staff isn't really on standby for questions and if you have them, they seem a bit put out by it. That being said, I've been a couple times since you can lounge as long as you like. The coffee is fine, the pastries dont taste as good as they look but they'll do for an afternoon girls meet up. I am a self proclaimed boba connoisseur, and Brecotea is hands down the best place in Richmond. I've been going to their location in Glen Allen since they opened, but this one is so much closer! I'm so happy they're here now. My favorite drinks: matcha brown sugar boba milk tea, taro milk tea, My favorite pastry: anything with ube! The location in Glen Allen has donuts and they have a slightly more extensive drink menu, so I hope that once they're open longer we'll start to see those options at this location too It's super bright and light inside with modern decor that feels high end. A nice change in bakeries and coffee shop. The pastries are lite and fluffy and not heavy. They have great taste and not overpowering with sugar. We have visited a few times, mostly recently on their Grand Opening. The staff are very nice and polite. The prices are within in reason for all products - coffee, tea, slushies, pastries, pies, cakes, etc. when compared to other places. A great place to come to just sit down enjoy a cup of coffee or favorite beverage and a fantastic pastry. Sit down with a friend, family or complete an email as the noise level is within reason.
