Just take a look at the neighborHOOD this gym is in, and that should give you a pretty good idea of what you're getting into. A good percentage of the equipment is broken. What's the point of paying for a membership if the gym doesn't bother to fix the equipment? There are paper towel dispensers and disinfectant meant to be used to clean the machines but I rarely see anyone other than myself use them. Half the time the dispenser isn't even filled. Oh well, I guess. I'd say the employees are rude, but I can't really choose an adjective to describe them since they just flat out ignored me. I definitely loved having my key tag scanned in silence, without so much as a second of eye contact. Like, hello? In the 12 months I spent going to this dreadful gym, the number of times I was greeted/said goodbye to was probably in the single digits. On one occasion I walked into the gym at the same time as some sort of trainer. Nobody was at the front desk. Instead of going to the front desk and scanning me in, he walks right on passed me and goes to sit down at his desk and flirt with a female employee. Are you fucking serious? I scanned myself in instead, but I probably shouldn't have even gone to the effort to do that. Also, some chucklehead tried to break into my ex's truck using a flathead screwdriver (their attempts were futile, yet still obvious) while we were inside the gym one day. Heres an update for the summer: Dont bother coming if you have kids especially during Zumba hours 9-10. And even after the women like to hang out on the machines and catch up on how the weekend went. So the people that have that platinum membership can bring a buddy and the member can bring their kids (no limit) but 100% of the time their "buddy" will bring their kids as well causing there to be 40+ kids for 2 employees to take care of. And then there will be a wait. And if youre like me employed and time is important then dont even bother. Your workout time will be cut to a few minutes which wont even help. If you know how to work out then this can be a good gym. However there are several machines that don't work properly and could harm your members and then you'll be in a world of trouble. Because there are many consistent comments on how your equipment is being properly maintained. I've been working out for years and I know when I see bad equipment. But I know the basics of weightlifting and if you know that, you can produce results. I would like to know where is the pride of working? Doesnt anyone in your staff know how to keep the the dumbbells in order? They are all over the whole gym and none match on the rack. You must find it within yourself to improve this gym if you want to stop getting negative comments. That means you manger. That means you associate. Take some responsibility and enjoy where you work at. Fix this gym to where you get positive vibes. You'll feel better about it and know that you can accomplish anything. read more

I love this gym. The staff are great, the other patrons are friendly and nice. It feels more like a real gym than other purple places in the area. Everybody is in there working out and not just standing around in circles talking and fucking around on their phones. And if you give this place a negative review based on the neighborhood then maybe you should stay in your own neighborhood and stay out of ours. read more

The gym looks nice inside and everyone was very friendly. I was impressed with all the features this place has even though it is in a bad part of town. I walked in to purchase two 1-year memberships since it was closer to my house than the other gym I currently attend. I did not want to do the monthly deduction from my bank account because I read bad reviews on the poor billing practices from Blast fitness in other states. I offered to pay cash for the year in full for my spouse and I but was turned down. I was surprised that they let almost $400 walk out the door. This is a new unproven business opening up in a market that is saturated with other gyms and it sends up a red flag to me. I would be very cautious about giving them my personal information or access to my bank account after this. I wish I had wonderful things to say. I would have kept it all to myself too if they hadn't taken another payment out of my account. I know that they have the right to a last payment after you leave BUT I had been in three times to get it cancelled because a manager has to be present to end the membership. No one was available and when I went in the third time I was told that all of the staff is quitting and more stuff that I didn't need to know. I made it clear that I should not be charged since my first attempt was made two months prior and was due to poor health which was the reason for my not being able to make it into the gym already for more than 8 months that I paid for all along. The young woman said she would make note but due to corporate greed I was charged just one last time. I also quit attending because the ZUMBA instructors, though they are all cute and sweet are also 20 years old leading a group mostly more than twice their age and not interested in the least that we were no where nearly able to follow. These beautiful young things were watching themselves in the mirror instead. ZUMBA was the entire reason for my quitting Planet Fitness and was a big disappointment. By far the worst gym in the state of Arizona The manager Jacoba is very prejudice against white people when I asked him to play American music on the radio they refused to change the station the gym was not open the last two weekends in a row I have proof of this so the girl Elsa gave me her phone number and said if they are ever closed in the morning call me I called up Jacoba and told him about the situation 19th Ave. and Union Hills Blast tried for an hour to get a hold of him on Saturday morning with no success I told him about this he called me back two hours later and terminatmy membership and said I could never going to any of their locations all I was doing was trying to help out the club there was 12 cars in the parking lot everybody wasfurious and that's how I got rewarded by far the worst gym in the valley I will see if I have any legal repercussions for discrimination save your money go I'll swear read more

The service the managers provide is just disappointing (which is why I stopped working there). I have been trying to cancel my membership for over a month and conveniently every time I go into the gym I am told the manager is not there and they have no idea when or if he will be in again. Am I to believe the manager does not have a schedule? I have been 3 times and each time the employees are quite rude and tell me that only the manager can hand out the waiver to cancel. The kid working today told me "it depends on if the manager feels like processing the cancellation in the first place and if he does do it it usually takes a while because he doesn't like to" Really? He refused to give me his name, said he did not have to, and said there was no other way to cancel, there is no number to call and no way to contact corporate. I call BS. Been working out here for a several months now and here's my impression. You get what you pay for and honestly in this case you get a little more....You have access to a variety of workout platforms (weights, treadmills, classes, etc.) all at a low price compared to other gyms! Some of the equipment may not be the top of the line but it is still better than paying three times as much to go to a big fancy gym or than whatever you may have at home. They offer a separate workout area for those women that may feel uncomfortable working out in front of men. They even offer child care at no additional cost (platinum membership needed, only $20 for 2 members or guest pass)), which would be extra anywhere else. I've managed to lose 40lbs here on my own, so there is no excuse! People need to stop being so sensitive and stop complaining over every little thing. Yeah you come across some people who are just there to socialize, not really workout, but you find that at any gym. We all have to be adults and learn how to share and take turns, something I thought we all would've learned in elementary. You have to scan yourself in sometimes....big deal! Your not there to socialize with people, your there to workout right??? You try working somewhere that is short staffed which is what they appear to be, but that's not the current employees fault. I've seen employees try to mop the floors and run the front desk at the same time! I am very pleased with the establishment and the only reason I'm not putting 5 stars is because the repair time on some of the equipment is a little delayed but no big deal! Now that I've lost my weight I began to tone my body and feel better than I ever have, including my high school days! So people stop making excuses and put the work in!!!! read more

I seriously don't know how this place hasn't burned to the ground by now. You would think with all the people leaving they would try to improve for future business. I have been trying to sign up for a membership the entire week only to get the run around, I have never heard of a place where it is this difficult to get signed up, you would think they want the business, manager is never anywhere to be found and the staff is completely useless, any question you might have is answered with "you have to talk to the manager" ok, great, when can I speak to the manager? "Try again later" ok, call later, "manager is not it, try again tomorrow" and then hang up. Wow, this has been on going since Monday, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and ignore the negative feedback left online and check them out myself but have had 0 luck in getting a tour of the gym or even simple questions answered, but for $8 a month you can't really expect much I guess........... read more

My first visit I had trouble making some of the equipment work. Employees were unsuccessful too. (Some employees don't even know how to operate the equipment. This doesn't instill any confidence in the employees' competence.) After struggling with it, they said, "Oh, I guess it's broken." No "Out of Order" signs on several pieces of non-working equipment. 6 months later, the equipment has still not been fixed, and some of this equipment is the only piece of its kind in the gym, so this means the customer doesn't get a complete workout. read more

On 4/10/17 I went in after two years of membership to cancel my membership. I had been trying to cancel beforehand but uou have to physically go into yhe location to cancel. I go in and they say you have to give a 30 day written notice and sincw your annual fees are coming up l, you will be charged. Here is this paper sign it fill it out and you still have to email it yourself or it will not be cancelled. Tell me how this is convenient for the customer. I went down to this gym which is located in west Phoenix while I live in central Phoenix, and they can't even email or fax over their own cancellation form signes by the manager on duty and myself. Plus let me charge you an annual fee membership that you no longer belong to. On top of thar I call their customer support and all they say is we cant over write policies. Are you serious. Half of the equipment has a "temporarily out of service" sign on it(including the sweat lodge they boast about on their websites). I've been going to this gym for a couple months and I've never once seen these signs taken off. Even the equipment that doesn't have a sign usually has something noticeably wrong with it. They also don't enforce sanitizing them unlike planet fitness. A whole row of treadmills at this gym(literally half of their treadmills) have broken auxillary jacks so you cant even use the tv on them. Aside from the equipment, the staff lies or is crappily trained. I signed up my gf and was told we had 30 days to cancel penalty/hassle free. I cancel within a week and was told I was stuck paying the yearly $50 fee on top of the first month charge after basically a day from signing up and that it was my fault for not reading the contract. Don't believe anything they say. Classic bait n switch. Seriously, take your money somewhere else. read more

I gym itself is worth the monthly fee, it has classes, babysitting, and tanning as well as all the standard gym stuff.....So, I rejoined, even tho I canceled a couple years ago. I wasn't using my membership and the hefty 60 yearly fee was approaching. Now as a new member again, I was told it was $59.99 to join (this was on the 28th of June), and I was told that covered my first month and would be charged the $20.99 in one month on July 28th as well as the year membership fee of $59.99.....well on July 11th (2 weeks) later I was charged for my 2nd month!!!! Thank Goodness I used a credit card or this kind of stuff can easlily overdraft anyone's account....and on the 16th of July, not the 28th, as they said, I was charged my yearly membership $59.99.......Overall, I will keep the membership as I need babysitting included and enjoy classes....But beware when you sign up.....Within a 3 week period, expect to drop $130... the same as it would cost for LA Fitness, however the monthly fee of $20.99 instead of $40-$45 with LA Fitness to include babysitting is why I will stay with Blast Fitness....Just Beware. read more
