Originally we had the studio plan. We were going to cancel for the cooler months of the year but were told by an employee that if we simply downgraded we could move back to the studio plan at any time without additional charges besides the change in plan cost. We trusted him and did that. When it was time to move back to that plan, we were going to see an additional charge. The manager simply said they couldn't help that we received incorrect information from THEIR employees. While the gym is fairly clean, some equipment is showing wear and not being replaced. It is often too busy to get to use the weight machines. Also, it's not fun to see propaganda networks while working out. Far too many other options in the area to stay here. Updated: Generic customer service for Vasa reached out with lackluster assistance and offered to help me cancel. Thanks... (And yes. Fox propaganda is still on the tv 6+ months later. But now it's on 2 TVs which is weird because the employees claim they can't change the channels. It's not hard for them or corporate to choose a different channel but they won't. They won't give me my account number over the phone stating that I have to come in person, yet a few months ago when I was trying to cancel my subscription they did give me my number, but they repeated it so fast no matter how many times I asked they still did not slow down. Great facility on the surface, clean, well appointed, all the bells and whistles. I called first to see if I needed an appointment to tour and determine the cost as it was not available online. The young man who greeted me said it would be just a moment...I waited and waited and waited while the guy who was assigned to me flirted outrageously with a patron. I got up to leave and he finally decided to do his job. We determined the basic membership with a personal trainer was the best fit for me. I'd already read reviews about how difficult it is to change your membership especially eliminating anything. For some reason he could not tell me how much it would be per month including the personal trainer until I joined. It was $14 something per month but then there was a $79 "membership" fee. Okay. I filled out the paperwork thinking we are almost there. I ask again about the cost of training as I'm putting my credit card information in and he rambles on about payments every two weeks for 3 months that make no sense at all and then he throws in another $59 fee to insure that the fees I've already agreed to are honored. Seriously, this doesn't work both ways? What insanity is this? I should have paid attention to the reviews I'd read and stayed clear of this place. Waste of my time and his. Dang I could have been responsible for his not having a date that evening. Good God, what happened to professional business practices with upfront costs? I have done absolutely nothing wrong. This guy and his son who I've never had a problem with before, and actually thought was a nice guy at one time verbally assaulted and verbally berated me and almost physically attacked me with gym equipment. Yet he's still allowed to roam around the gym and has had multiple complaints against him before this incident occurred. I am a woman who can not defend myself and yet this man targeted me specifically. Him and his son were in the cable rig area. They were taking up the entire space and I saw a piece of equipment I needed. I politely stepped over their stuff, because they and their things were in the way. I did not step or trip or harm them or their belongings. I had no idea he was talking to me as my back was turned towards him for several minutes that had passed when he kept repeating "you shouldn't step over peoples shit you fucking asshole" several times. I was honestly like "who stepped on his stuff; who is he talking about?" I kept doing my work out on the bench and then went back to the cable rig. I did more sets minding my own business and about 5 minutes had passed at this point. I went back to the bench to do more Copenhagen planks and when I returned to the cable rig he stepped in front of me, took my equipment off and CHARGED at me looking me dead in the eyes full of rage as if he was going to hit me with the stick I was using; I told him kindly "I'm still using that" twice, then he looked me up and down and threw it on to the ground. I went up to him and asked him politely if there was a problem. After ALL THAT he had the audacity to squat down against the wall, not look me in the eyes, look away from me and completely ignore me. Like dude are you serious? I am a small framed woman, PICK ON SOMEONE YOUR OWN SIZE!!! How dare he talk to a woman like that. Just another form of misogyny at play. Another women hating man. I did absolutely nothing wrong but simply exist and did not deserve this treatment. This video you see here is of me talking to the front desk staff where he so blatantly cusses at me again for the 3rd time and is completely rude to the front desk staff. If someone here has already had several complaints against him before this wouldn't you think this would be the last straw? No. He still goes to the gym and every time I see him he looks at me and smiles and laughs and mocks me. Now I'm forced to feel incredibly unsafe, uncomfortable and feel like I have to watch my back so I don't get verbally assaulted or worse, physically attacked by him, in an environment when I'm just trying to do my own thing. This gym has done nothing to keep its patrons safe and yet he still gets to be here having learned nothing and doesn't have to change his behavior and gets to do what he wants. Why are they giving him another chance to mess up before banning him? I don't have an answer for you. But he is a horrible human being and shouldn't be allowed back at the gym. How embarrassing of him to talk to me like that and treat me like that setting an example of how to treat women in front of his 12 year old son. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. If something so minor can set someone like this off, can you imagine what else he is capable of? I had no idea he was talking to me when I wasn't even looking at him doing my own work outs when he was cussing me out the first time in the cable rig. So basically I was ignoring him, and we never made eye contact. Then 5-8 minutes pass by and to get his point across and get my attention he still chose violence. Still chose to go to my cable rig and take the equipment off charge me, and toss it on the ground at my feet. Am I really deserving of such behavior? People walk over my things politely when I am taking up all the space. Get your own gym if you can't behave appropriately in public. I used to really enjoy this gym. The staff is really nice and I like how spacious it is. But honestly this gym is sexist and corporate and management have done nothing but side with the perpetrator instead of banning him from their establishment. Your best bet is to go to EOS, LA Fitness or Esporta. Anywhere you can not run into entitled pricks like this who get off on belittling women and anyone else around them. read more

This is Day Three of me trying to get someone to refund a no-show fee I was charge for a class that I definitely attended and signed in using their tablet--and I have the sign-in record on my account and post work-out summary the gym emailed to me. But still, that's not enough to get them to refund a measly $3 that was charged to my account. When I noticed the charge on my account, I immediately called the gym. Was told I needed to call an 801 number at corporate. When I called that number, they told me only the gym could refund the charge. So I went in person to the gym today and was told to call the 801 again. I said I already did and was told the gym needed to fix it. The front desk person went to inform the manager, who did not even come out to apologize or offer to fix. The front desk took my number and said they would call corporate. Gym is okay -- service, staff, and memberships are trash. Anytime there is broken equipment it takes forever to get fixed. There is still only one leg extension machine after 3 months. Get it together guys. Staff has a poor attitude and treats the customer experience more like a fraternity and less like a place of business. They were rude to me and deceptive about my membership fees Memberships are sneaky and there are hidden fees everywhere. Read the contract. Check this out-- I purchased a $10/month membership looking to workout for summer before returning to school gym. In my head, this would be $30 or $40. The total was $125. There is a $25 cancellation fee, a $63 "annual fee," and $2.50 on every month if you pay online. If the staff was friendly about these issues and wanted me to have the best experience possible, this would be a way better gym. read more

So far this one month I've been there the steam room was broken, the jacuzzi is COLD and the jets stopped working, the women's shower water is COLD, and the pool and jacuzzi looks dirty. I was a member for 4 months and was overcharged every single month. They just kept adding to what I signed up for and said I used services (trainings) that I never even used. I had to freeze my credit card account so they wouldn't keep charging me for things that were lies or uncalled for. For the amenities I used, regular cardio and weight machines, tanning and aqua massage beds, the overcharging just wasn't worth it. The gym looks really nice from the inside, but two things bother me. 1) Most of the ceiling fans are turned on to the maximum. I get it, you don't want that stench hanging around and it's nice to have a cool breeze sometimes, but damn I am always freezing and it's hard to get warmed up or stay warm especially during a cardio session. The ones by the treadmills are turned on high, so unless there is an open treadmill way on the side, I get a pretty crappy cardio session and it makes my BPM too low and the workout ineffective. I literally get a 5-10% difference in my heart BPM if I'm by the fans or all the way on the side. 2) Kinda hate that it closes at 4pm on Sundays. You sleep in a little on Sundays, watch a game and run a few errands and before you know it, it's too late to go to the gym. Really wished it closed at 7 or 8 on Sundays. read more

I said No at first because I was having surgery on my foot and wouldn't be able to walk for 6 weeks and he pressured me by saying you can cancel at any time yada yada. Will, front desk employee at VASA on35th ave and Northern provided TERRIBLE customer service. We have a membership and he did not let my guests go into the gym. We have never had issues before until today. As I was sitting in the lobby I could see how he would let other guests walk past him without questioning them. We drove an hour and a half in traffic to get to this gym and now we have to drive an hour and a half back due to this employee and it costs us time and gas. It is absurd. read more

They constantly encourage me and truly make it feel like one big family. This location is spacious, clean and has tons of great equipment. I've been to many different gyms before, but this has to be the best one yet. Let me start off by saying I've been enrolled since opening day. I would give this gym a 3.7 solely because of the amenities. I do wish they had a steam room or sauna but I can always drive to thunderbird if I need to. It seems like the best time to go is morning to mid day. Also seems to be the cleanest during that time. The staff is wonderful but the people just do not clean up after themselves. I do however see the staff cleaning ALL THE TIME. Now let's talk about the trainers. I've trained with Taylor for 6 months and she really helped me get to certain goals. She has studio red classes weekly & kicks butt! . Her & Nick (another trainer) have answered all of my questions even after my 6 month contract was up. I had a pretty nasty knee injury that still hasn't healed and both of them have continued to help throughout this journey. The front desk is day and night. The morning crew is super attentive Raquel is a rockstar. She is always the first to say hello and never lets people leave without wishing them a good day. Peyton is also wonderful. That duo is probably my fav there. Night crew.. well some work needs to be done. But I'm sure they are a tad busier so that could be the reason but you might not get a greeting or even an acknowledgment besides scanning your barcode. Distractions happen a lot with the night crew. Classes. Jade & Liz always bring the energy. They pump you up for sure! Classes are normally busy for those two but worth taking. They keep switching it up and bring new workout classes to vasa. I would recommend trying a class for sure. Cleanliness. This gym struggles with that a bit. Again it's the members not the staff. A couple of times they have been out of wipes and it was replaced promptly. Not sure what happened with the soap here either. Outside is horrible. There is trash in the parking lot every morning but it's from the area the gym is located. For being in business for a year in the middle of a pandemic the staff have definitely exceeded my expectations. read more

I've been a member for a little over a month now. Gym doesn't get overly crowded which I love. The group fitness classes are fun and they have a good variety. Facility is great, customer service not so much. I've had to wait while a front desk person was on their phone on Instagram to get a massage chair. Multiple times I've informed them that they were out of wipes in a certain area and didn't see them changed. I've worked at a gym before and I feel like the employees here are mediocre. My first visit I wasn't greeted, offered a tour or even asked if I wanted the free PT session scheduled. Luckily I'm not he's going gyms. When I signed up online they didn't say that all the amenities weren't open which is a little misleading. They should have them listed as coming soon. read more

Got a membership here not too long ago thinking they had all the amenities; however, this location doesn't. My partner and I asked when they all will be available which staff members were annoyed and replied "we don't know"... ok..? Two weeks go by and during our workout we were rudely interrupted by one of the staff. His reasoning was "due to sanitization purposes". Both of us wear our masks to the gym and bring our own wipes to regulate the spread of germs, so I don't understand why he approached us in such a rude tone of voice and gave us a fake reasoning. Couple of days goes by and our vehicle was broken into, along with one of our friends. I understand the the gym isn't liable for these incidents, but the location itself is sketchy. Gym is nice and clean, but I'm taking the rating down because of something that has been continuously happening every night . It is not very comfortable to workout at night. Gym hour to close is 10 pm. At 9:45 or 9:50 the employees turn of the gym lights while people are still working out. I understand that they gym closes soon, but not only is this a huge liability to have people lifting weights in the darkness, but also false advertisement. Why list 10 pm as the closing time if you are closing earlier. I have worked out my whole life and this is the first time I've experienced this in a fitness facility. UPDATE: taking another star down. I've gotten 2 barbell covers stolen from me. Asked the employees and they didn't even offer to check security cameras. If the gym wasn't the only one close to my home I would never come back. read more

I do not recommend this gym, or any gym under the name "VASA Fitness." Absolutely DO NOT get Personal Training if there is ANY chance of having to stop going to the gym. If you want to pause your membership, that's $10 If you want to cancel your PT contract, they refer you to craigslist to sell it to someone else and still charge $100 for that. The only exception they have for cancelling is if you move more than 25 miles, and that still costs you $100. No other circumstances for cancelling are valid, like having a serious surgery that means you can't go back to the gym for an extended period of time. This is not only deceptive but fraudulent as well. Avoid this gym at all costs, save yourself the trouble and headache of having to take this garbage gym to court like I am in the process of now - just to get out of a contract for a service I cannot use. read more

Poorly maintained gym. Half the sanitization stands are empty without any wipes. Sauna is constantly out of service. The gym is always packed so it's almost impossible to get a full workout in without someone breathing down your neck or rushing you. Long waiting for equipment. The staff at the front desk have an attitude when you ask to tan or use massage beds. Also the trainers are sneaky and offer free sessions for training to lure you into a contract that they don't even tell you is a contract. They also randomly charge you hundreds of dollars without notification. Honestly have been a member here for 7months now. This facility has certainly not met my standards or expectations. In the women's bathroom the handicap stall is inoperable. The handle to the shower has been broken off for a month already and is not usable. For myself I really need it and haven't been able to use it for a long time now. There is also another stall inoperable as well. Currently for the past two days the Jaccuzzi is broken as well. The dry sauna is also broken and inoperable. Since I have been paying a membership for services I cannot utilize it makes me feel I should cancel my membership and look elsewhere for a fitness center to meet my needs. I took my complaints to both the manager a few weeks ago and she said they were aware of the handicap shower and that they ordered a part and it would be fixed and corrected. That hasn't happened as of yet. Last night I spoke to Vivianna there assistant manager and made her aware of my issues and concerns again and she said they have a very bad maintenance team and they are aware of the shower. I asked if the Jaccuzzi was gonna be fixed and she said she hopes so. I definitely am very upset and a disgruntled member of Vasa fitness and am contemplating cancelling my memebership. I signed up for a membership online in February 1922 and online it showed that this club had a pool at that time. Upon my very first visit to the club. I was told that the pool would not be open for a few months. I advise the guy at the counter that their website advertises them as having a pool currently so I told the representative that this club would not meet my needs And I would not be back they said OK they would cancel it here. We are a year later and I'm now getting calls from collection agencies. The collection agency refers me back to speaking to paramount paramount won't discuss it vasa fitness. PRO: Facility is generally clean and nice with good classes and modern equipment. Staff are pleasant and accommodating. Sadly this is where the good ends. CON: Poor, poor customer service (if you can call it service) designed to delay contact so members will just give up on trying to cancel memberships or adjust anything. BUYER BEWARE: There's an annual $49.99 "guaranteed rate" fee that, strangely when applied annually, actually does increase your monthly rate. This is an ANNUAL fee btw. VASA can then increase this "special deal" separately to adjust prices accordingly in the future so get ready. The whole experience is poor at best. Good luck calling them as well, as their contact center only works 9-5 on UT time M-F and it's virtually impossible to get in touch with anyone. Since you can't just cancel in person at a Vasa location, you are forced to deal with the poor customer service apparatus via phone if you have a problem. Oh, and Vasa charges $25 for EVERYTHING you want to do from cancelling to transferring to changing your membership. Despite the nice facility, I cannot recommend at all for these hidden shady business practices and fees. The only reason I haven't cancelled yet is that they'll charge me a ridiculous amount to cancel - ON TOP the ridiculous "guaranteed rate" fee of $49.99. Very sad!! read more

I've been a member of VASA for a few months and I absolutely love it. The gym is always clean, the staff are exceptionally kind and helpful, the equipment is new and functional, and whenever something is broken it seems to be fixed in a timely manner. I did read the comment about the lights around closing time and although they do turn them off about 5-10 minutes before close, I don't feel like there's anything dangerous or disrespectful about it. They give multiple time reminders over the speakers to plan your workout accordingly. I think it's a fair indication that the gym is closing, but everyone's perspective is different. I definitely would suggest VASA if you're looking for a great gym at an affordable price! read more

I've had a great experience here! Upon walking in for my first time I was greeted by the staff and also offered a free personal training session. They have a huge assortment of equipment, a basketball court that just opened, and they are also working on a pool. I love how big it is because even during the busy times you have plenty of room to workout without it feeling crowded. They also have really fun classes, including Zumba, HIIT, cycling, yoga, and more. Definitely recommend checking this gym out if you need a gym home that is affordable! read more

I'm a group fitness instructor who's heard great things about VASA Fitness for years (from another instructor and more recently from a friend who takes 12 fitness classes a week at different gyms). I finally went to VASA's Northern and 35th Ave. location today in Phoenix, to Liz's Dance Fitness class. I'm so glad I went -- it was one of the best dance fitness classes I've been to in 10 years. Liz was fabulous -- great routines, easy to follow, great Latin music (REAL Latin music, btw -- not fake-y elevator Latin music), and no cutesy, tired pop songs. And Liz was welcoming, friendly, cheerful, energetic, graceful, and so physically fit! I live a long way from this location, but I'll be back! So fun! read more
