Blauer made the rental process so easy and once I arrived to pick up my gear, we were immediately helped and swiftly given our ski package alone with jackets and pants. I booked an online reservation for 10 people three days prior to my family snowboarding/ski trip. Making reservations on the website was smooth. I reserved confirmation immediately, followed up by instructions of what to expect day of. When I arrived I was immediately greeted by employees. Since we already had reservations the process was fast. We were all greeted in a friendly manner and all staff were accommodating. Checking our rental back was a fast process considering it was busy and had a lot of gear to return. An employee that stood out was Willy (I apologize if I spelled your name wrong). He had phenomenal customer service and pulled out a bench for the kids to sit on. He followed up with each individual making sure we are all comfortable in our rented gear. My snowboard boots hurt my legs and I needed to get a new pair. I live in San Diego and would need to order them online. I have picky feet and it's best to try shoes on. I saw that Blauers had the pair I wanted in stock and went in to try them on. There's a lot to be said for trying shoes on. This is a $200-$300 purchase and you want to get it right. The sales person was friendly and knowledgeable. I tried on 5-6 pairs before deciding on a completely different pair than what I went in for. I have had the boots for a year now and I still love them. I send everyone I know to Blauers because the selection and service are amazing. read more

We were completely satisfied with the equipment we rented. We had tried previously two other rental locations in Big Bear Lake, but Blauer was a way better experience. Spacious shop, nice customer service, better quality boards and skis (they also wax them before providing to you). Our friend also bought snow glasses here, and they were the only ones among others our company had, that managed to stay clear and useful in a wet snowfall in the mountain. read more

i LOVE this snowboard shop and will always recommend it to anyone. I got the wrong size board & came up to Big Bear to exchange it in time for my snowboard trip and they had no problem setting aside the correct size for me. I came to the shop, they switched the boards AND helped me put my bindings on for free. This is a company that really cares, I was told if you buy a board from them waxing, tune ups, surface scratches are all free to fix which is so incredibly helpful if you don't know how to do it. I came into Blauer's shop for just a hot wax for a used snowboard I bought at the beginning of the season, when one of the employees (I forgot his name but he had long blonde hair with a hat on) pointed out how I had a gnarly crease running through the nose of the board, which would snap the nose off within the next trip to the slopes. He helped me pick out a new board (Ride Smokescreen 162), but that board, although brand new, creased on the tail before the end of the day. That night I brought it back to the board shop to do some sort of replacement, and I was helped out by Shaun for the whole hour and a 1/2 I was there. He had amazing knowledge about all of the different boards in the selection, and helped me pick out the Jones Mountain Twin 163, since it is a stiffer board, unlike the Ride Smokescreen. Towards the end of the transaction, Shaun offered to pay for a nice pair of mittens and a redbull, as a courtesy for the inconvenience. So thank you to Shaun for all of the help, I will definitely be coming back to this shop in the near future. read more

I purchased a product online, and it came in a totally different color than what was advertised. After contacting them to do an exchange, the service was terrible and refused to do an exchange so I had to return. They added an additional fee for my return even though the product is new with tags. Never buying from this company again. read more

We used Blauer's rental service for our boys' first time snowboarding and from rental to return had wonderful interactions. Everyone we saw had a smile on their face and was extremely friendly. Our son had a hard time on the mountain and his board ended up heading down the run without him. Thankfully it didn't hit anyone along the way. We were unable to find it when we got to the bottom of the run. When we went in to return the rest of our rental equipment Steve treated us with kindness and compassion and asked about our son before he asked about the board. I will continue to use their services anytime I need equipment and you should too! read more

Parking is easy to find. Can be tough to turn left out of during peak times. They have a huge variety of clothing and equipment! We were greeted immediately by employees upon entering. Blair Board Shop has earned my loyalty. I did a 1 day ski rental package and was very happy with my experience. All their workers are young with high energy and service you quickly. From the girls at the front desk, to the guys fitting the equipment, they all know their stuff. They also have great hours, opening at 7am and closing at 10pm. This makes picking up your stuff before hitting the slopes convenient. In addition, their prices are competitive. I will be back. read more

Update: We were back up in Big Bear over MLK weekend and went back to Blauer's, in part, to see how things were the second time around. I'm happy to up my review to 5 stars as this time around everything went smoothly. We stopped by around 7 p.m. on Friday. The store was relatively empty so that probably helped a great deal. But our reservation was already on their system and getting our gear was easy peasy. And, once again, the staff were really nice. Definitely appreciate the positive vibes. Actually, this last time around considered looking at their skis since we're in the market to purchase rather than rent. Just wasn't sure if the prices up here would be way more so will need to do some research on that. But, if I do end up purchasing skis or other equipment from here I'll post a further update. Tried Blauer for the first time for ski rentals because the place we normally go to is a small shop with an equally small parking lot which is not always convenient during high season. I largely picked Blauer as the alternative because one of the other reviews indicated that, unlikely other ski rental locations, Blauer's has an on-line reservation system that allows you to bypass filling out additional forms in-store. Filling out the same form online and then again in the store never made sense to me - seemed inefficient so the streamlined process seemed much more convenient. Unfortunately, when we arrived the promise of convenience didn't pan out. First off, the store couldn't find our reservation papers so after we stood around waiting for a few people to look for our reservations we were told to fill out paper forms. We basically wasted 15 minutes at that point. Once we had our forms in hand, we went to the counter where you get your skis, etc., but there was no line just a throng of people standing around without an apparent system. The "system" is to basically try to look for one of the workers who is available to help. One you get your rentals, you basically try them on yourself without supervision re fit, etc. That wasn't a huge issue for us because we had our own boots but if I were a newbie to skiing I would have wanted more assistance to ensure proper sizing, fit, etc. We ended up spending way more time at the store than we normally would have at our regular rental place. That said, I can say that when we were helped, the workers were efficient and nice despite the chaos. You could tell the workers there want to help people as best they can but the lack of a coordinated system to get people in and out efficiently was the real problem. I also thought the skis we got at this place were a little better. That said, we're casual skiers so I don't know that better equipment makes a huge difference. Not sure I'd go back. read more

Great equipment and friendly service! I'm 6'6" so finding rental equipment can be difficult but the associate who helped me was easy going and even gave me performance skis instead of the intermediate skis I paid for because they were the only ones they had for my size. With all the time it took to find my boots and skis that fit, the associate forgot to set the skis to fit my boots so I had to have them readjusted at the mountain. No big deal as it only took 5 minutes but Snow Summit charged me $15 dollars to do it. I forgot to get a receipt but Blauder still refunded me the $15 based on my word!! Really cool move from them and they definitely have me as a future customer! Thanks for being easy to deal with and super helpful! read more
