Plz plz plz do not come here! If i could give them negative 5 stars I would. Took my boyfriend snowboarding, we rented absolutely everything you need as a first time boarder; board, boots, bindings, helmet, added the safety insurance EVERYTHING! We got on the mountain and his bindings started MOVING!!! like literally his foot was shifting left to right as he was riding down the mountain. He fell so hard (multiple times) he nearly got a concussion (probably did, his headache lasted 2 days). took the board to the repair shop and the workers were literally shocked.... I will say the workers were very nice and understanding when we returned the board and offered a refund. 2 days later tho, he gets charged over $400 from the shop...???? why?? cuz they think he stole their sh*t a** board:)))) A worker apparently didnt file his paperwork. they were very apologetic and got us another refund but this place is an overall MESS!!! plz dont waste ur time and money, go literally anywhere else! read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. It was such a busy day, they were shortstaffed and only had one person working so we had to wait forever to get our rentals. If we would've known this we would've just went to a different shop to save time. So already we're an hour and a half delayed from getting on the mountain because the shop is short staffed. After we got our boards 2 of the 4 boards we rented were completely and utterly damaged. The bindings were not secured and they were extremely loose not only on 1 foot but the other board had both the bindings for both foot loose. We went back and they offered us a refund and they apologized and informed us that most of their boards are damage and outdated. How do you have a rental shop when most of your boards are damaged and outdated?!? The employee basically admitted they are selling customers damaged equipment that could cause injury. I'm extremely frustrated because not only did we waste time waiting for our rentals, we could've seriously gotten hurt if we didn't go back and return the boards. Do not come here they clearly could not care less about their customer's safety. Trust me you're better off at another rental shop. read more

My friends and I had a very poor experience getting shoe and board rentals. The shop workers were rude and condescending. One man recommended that I wear a shoe size smaller than normal and bullied me into renting shoes that gave me blisters and ruined my day. I also tried bringing my personal snowboarding boots (with an inner tag stating that they were for snowboarding) and they insisted that the shoes were for motorcross and refused to fit them into board bindings. They were probably just trying to upsell us since we're beginners. I didn't like the service at all and would not recommend coming here especially if you don't speak English well. They attempted to help the same group of East Asian people for over 45 minutes and didn't even think to use google translate for communication. It was just sad. The only good part is the location being so close to Snow Summit but that's about it. read more

This place is fantastic! We walked in and rented shoes as we were heading up to Big Bear Snow Summit. First of all, it's way cheaper than it is on the mountain, and because it's so close, it's super convenient. The service was amazing. They let me try on a couple of sizes for the shoes and made sure they were comfortable. But what really made it even better was they accidentally charged us for only one day. When I came back to return it, the guys at the back were so friendly and only charged me for two days. Maybe it's Christmas, but these guys are the real deal. Do not come here. We came and rented a snowboard and even brought boots in for them to fit into the bindings to ensure nothing went wrong. The kid who hands out the rentals managed to give us a board that's bindings are so far forward it isn't rideable. On top of that they do not give refunds regardless of what happens. We ended up just renting another board on the mountain. Go anywhere else and you will find rentals that are cheaper and better quality without the hassle of the children they hired to work there. So this shop is convenient to snow summit and Jordan the manager knows it. They are understaffed so arrive early if you ignore my review, and be prepared to wait. When I tried to put a deposit down with Amex he informed me that they didn't accept Amex and that I "should have been more prepared." I had downloaded my wallet to save pocket space, so in fairness didn't have my other cards, but didn't need a preparedness lecture from Jordan. The other staff was friendly. On a positive note Jordan did maybe feel bad and came over to help me with a pair of goggles so there's that. Still with plenty of rental locations to choose from, I suggest you shop elsewhere. read more

Avoid this store! Unfriendly staff and extremely poor equipment (old & broken). I paid with card and entered a pin. But the employee had forgotten and wanted another signature on the receipt he supposedly gave us And grumbled at us several times where we had put it. We explained to him that he had not given us one (since we had used the pin). At some point he noticed and apologized curtly. I have often rented skis and boots but this equipment is incredibly old, worn and not fun to ski with. read more

1) CONVENIENCE- 5 Star This ski shop is conveniently located at the bottom of Summit Ski Resort at the corner of Summit Blvd and Bear Blvd. You can walk from the shop to the bottom of lift, if it was a restaurant it'd be similar to a "garden to table" kind of service. 2) Top Gear Options I was very surprised to see they rent and sell performance skis, and they carry the 2020 Edition!!!! Look at what I got in my favorite color!! 3) Great Price Their ski's retail price undercut all the shops along Bear Blvd by $200-$400. Believe me, I checked each store because I have to stay within my budget. 4) The STAFF is Bar None If in doubt for what's the best ski for your style, skill and goal ( it's ok to dream because most of us do get better with practice and better equipment), ask for Jordan ( pictured here, with the hat). Jordan answered all my questions, he knew the answers ( I researched them before going there) and more importantly, he let me leave to shop and checkout the other stores. He was that confident about what they sell that he knew I will come back. I went back and spent $700 of my christmas money in their store. read more

Great spot to rent your ski/snowboard gears before you hit the slopes. It's actually the closest rental spot to the snow Summit. The place has an excellent customer service. We were assisted by Anna and she was very very helpful in getting us the right information. The process was seamless. We were in and out in 5 minutes. If you need to rent skis at Snow Summit, you can wade through the smelly mass of humanity at the resort or you can get your gear off site. If you want to save money and time, I'd go off site. LOCATION: On the corner of Summit Blvd. and Big Bear Blvd., it's about 0.5 miles from the resort. This is the closest (ie, most convenient) rental shop to Snow Summit other than renting at the resort. PRICE: $17.50 for standard ski package; $24.50 for deluxe; and $34.50 for demos with further discounts available by printing out an online coupon. Even if you opt for the deluxe package, you are saving money over the $30 you'd spend at Summit, and the equipment is way better. EQUIPMENT: I got good Rossignol skis and wonderful Head boots that were comfortable and offered great support. Far better than the crappy equipment I've received at Snow Summit in the past. SERVICE: The folks working here aren't exactly the friendliest folks and they aren't going to chat you up and invite you over for dinner, but they are quick and professional. Absolutely terrible experience. Rented skis for my teenage son, but the boots were too small and skis were too long. Ended up having to rent another set of boots and skis for him at Snow Summit, because it would simply have taken too long to go back down and exchange with limited hours to ride. Returned the skis to BV one day early, asked for refund for only the second day (which we won't have the skis for), was told no and rudely lectured by unhelpful guy at the counter that we could have taken the shuttle back to the parking lot, driven back to the store to exchange the skis, etc. - basically that it was our fault. . It takes a lot to care enough to post a negative review, but the attitude dealing with a customer having issues was just plain wrong. I suggest Blauer's or Goldsmiths. read more

I don't normally write reviews but I was thoroughly impressed with the convenience, and level of service at Bear Valley Ski and Board shop. It was super easy to get in and out of the shop and the team they have over there worked like clock work to get us fitted quite easily. I liked the ability for easy drop off at the end of our ski day and everything felt seamless. Way easier then previous experiences. It kinda makes or breaks the day when your lagging around all morning. They were on top of it no doubt! Side Note: I accidentally left my wallet and credit card in the front pocket of my rental jacket......oops! Big scare on my end but have no fear...Shelly the manager was on top of it. After verifying my identity and she went out of her way to get it back to me. I am very grateful for her quick action on this. I have been coming here for years. Never had an issue or problem with staff here. Unfortunately the last two times the blonde girl at the front desk has been rude and unwilling to put forth the effort for at the minimum decent customer service. I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME COMING HERE. I sent my kids in the shop since the traffic was horrible. They walked 4 blocks and filled out paper work. She would not even get gear ready so we could save time and not miss a parking spot in at Summit. Now I totally get that my kids can't sign the paper work for liability. But she could have at least gotten them sized up and gotten gear ready for when I got there. I literally missed the cut off before the parking was closed off at 845 am. This is the second time that she has done this. Now take in mind that I have done this for over 8 years with no issues and staff has been more than accommodating. read more

Chill guys and way better prices and staff compared to the guys at the rental shop next door. They give you premium rental skis at a great price especially if you check in on Yelp. They have wider type boots available which is perfect for my 3E feet that I have to wear orthotics for. I'll be back again next season! That's for sure! read more

Man! We really wanted to like this place because it's literally right down the street from the Summit entrance and the price is decent but boy, there rentals are terrible! First time we rented boots, they had holes in them, socks were wet after one run. Second time we rented the whole package, the boards were so bad. The price is decent, but I rather have quality rentals. Thankfully their service is good and didn't run into problems like other reviewers. read more

I've always had great service here - and will never go anywhere else. Not only is the price value incredible, but they are always accommodating. I've rented board, boots, and helmet multiple times and have always experience stellar service. The most recent trip, this past weekend, I rented for two days but did not go the second day. There's a sign on the wall that says no refunds prior to 9 am same day, but I walked in on Sunday, prepared to be out of luck, and received what the clerk called a "rain check". I was elated! SKIP THE RESORT RENTALS and always come here. They are right outside of Summit Mountain and wayyyyy faster, nicer and AFFORDABLE than the resort (and I'm an ikon pass holder with a so called "discount"). We rented one day at the resort, paid double, waited longer and had worse gear. These guys are awesome and will continue to keep our business!
