I have taken my dogs to Blaney for years. I have had 2 of my pets put down thru Blaney. My most recent pet, Roxy has undergone numerous MCT surgeries at Blaneys. However, the last 2 times I have taken my dog in to have her nails clipped the girls out front have been extremely rude. I come on close to closing time as my dog, Roxy doesn't play friendly with other dogs. The hours of business are 8 am to 6 pm. The most recent visit I brought my dog in at 5:50 pm Immediately both Addy and Dixie copped an attitude. I asked Dixie if there was a problem, to which she replied, Well, we just have all the closing stuff done. I brought my accidental litter of puppies here. I was scared as some people are super judgmental of "backyard breeders" I instantly felt that I needed to explain how this happened and as was really good about calming me down. Our vet was AMAZING! We were able to ask a ton of questions. I called 5 times and two days and they never got upset or seemed like I was bothering them. At first I was going to them because they were willing to do a litter exam that made it a bit cheaper. Now I won't go anywhere else. I recently took my dog to this clinic for dental cleaning. I found the office staff to be kind and responsive. The reason I found Blayney is because the groomer I take my dog to loves this clinic. I used to take Molly to a clinic in Boise but after I found out the dental cost would be 750.00 after the 20% discount I decided I would try to find another clinic that might not be so expensive. At Blayney, you are given 3 choices for dental care, all of which are in a price range that is much more affordable. I wonder why driving a few extra miles can make such a difference in price. I needed a vet for my Chihuahua to get her teeth cleaned that wasn't going to cost me an entire paycheck. The people at Blayney were professional, compassionate and affordable. The only reason I brought my dog to Blaney was because the rescue I purchased her from requires their animals be spayed/neutered prior to finalizing their adoption, (as do the shelters she's it's part of the payment), and this is the clinic they use. Dropping her off was at 830am and was quick and frenzied. They were supposed to call me that afternoon to pick her up. When I hadn't heard, I stopped in. At 3:30, she still hadn't had her surgery. They told me she would be able to be picked up the next day. This meant she had been in a kennel since 8:30 that morning and had not eaten since 8:00 the prior evening. I didn't receive a call in the morning so I called them at almost 11:00 a.m.. Of course, she was ready to go home but no one had called me. When I did got,there, they brought her out and handed her to me on their dollar store leash and said here you go. That was it. I asked for her halter back and when she went to look, she came back out and said "she chewed it up". That was it. No apology, no nothing. Of course, the halter was brand new so I was very happy. Apparently that's when I was supposed to leave, no instructions, no medication, no cone of shame, again, no nothing. I had to ask. As far as I could tell, this was normal procedure for them because the people that I saw going in and out weren't treated any differently. Really makes me wonder how well they performed her surgery. Fortunately, I know what an animal should be sent home with so I knew to ask, but heaven help a new pet owner that doesn't know what SHOULD be done. Blayneys vet is very unorganized and the receptionist don't no what she was talking abou So today I had taken my dog to the vet to get checked because it was sick with puking and diarrhea and they ran and test on my 3 month old puppy and it had parvo. My dog don't go anywhere let alone no other dogs came around that I no of. To get to the point they said it would be 500 deposit to keep dog there today and then Friday it had to leave because no doctors would be available to take care of it and then I would need to have it go to west vet or all valley and I was like you never told me that when you were adimitly needing the 500 deposit. I was like I'm paying 500 for my dog to stay there today and go home 2marrow and she was like yeah! I said you sure and she had to put me on hold for like 10 mins then ask then come back to phone then go back and do this and that well I ended up taking my dog there and she said be there before 5 so I did and when you got there we told someone to come out and the lady said ok and then no one came then this lady that had her dog there said did anyone come out and we were like no and she said they just let your dog die even tho they got the 500 dollars 1st before the dog. So to me this place is very money hungry and very unprofessional they need more time training or listening to the doctor because the receptionist pretty much took my time and wasted 15 mins of my dogs time that could of been under treatment for parvo. When I got there they took the money then we had 2 go in 2xs to see what they were doing and 6mins later when my dog took its last breath they came out. How heartbreaking..... Shame on you Blayneys Veterinarian clinic. You did and horrifying job and can't believe you let my dog take it's last breath and you took the money 1st pretty amazing how money hungry your vet was and pretty amazing how my dog was last to get taken it after it took its last breath in my daughter arms..... Your vet should be about there customers and not about the money. My pet life was more important then that paper and you chose paper over my dog. read more

In the past I have received excellent service & attention from Veterinarian Betsy Gordon. She was very caring & responsive to my Shih Tzu when she was dying. She also knew I worried about masses or cancer on my new Shihtzu, so she x-rayed my dog for me just to make sure when came in that no mass was present. HOWEVER, I had a VERY BAD experience there over the last few days. Our cat did not recover well from a DENTAL done at this clinic, so I called for help. I called multiple times & either the vet Betsy or the staff refused to let me talk to the vet to voice my concerns & get advise on how to proceed. One gal at the front said she would have the vet call me & even the next day I have not received a call. The cat is very sick & in another vets office receiving care. She has an infection that the vet says was brought on possibly due to the stress of the dental; we have had to pay for another clinic visit & care over 2 nights due to the inattentiveness of this Blayney Veterinary. I needed to know what anethesia was used, how the procedure went and there any complications causing greater stress? I mentioned calling the BBB and the gal at the front told me to do what I needed to do; again, no empathy & no help. I am very disappointed in this experience & doubt I will return to this Veterinary Clinic. Had found a vet I really liked in Boise after moving from California but then had to move to Caldwell and couldn't justify the trip. I needed to have my dog seen for a medication refill and picked Blayney mostly because they had an appointment sooner than everywhere else. Was really pleased with the veterinarian. She explained many things to me our previous vet in CA had not about a disability my dog has due to being attacked by another dog, and I was able to get far more medication for him to manage his pain than I'd ever been given before which was a really great thing. I will definitely be using this vet for all my other animals now. read more

Blayney Veterinary Clinic is responsible for my dog going blind and cutting his life short. 15 months ago (Oct 2020) I took my dog to them because he was excessively drinking water and urinating. After taking blood/urine tests the lab showed no issues at the time (which is odd). They told me he's fine and that he probably drinks water out of boredom. The symptoms continued and for months I kept calling back but was told the same thing over and over. They just kept referring back to the old lab results. I had no idea at the time that this is was the NUMBER ONE SIGN of diabetes but any vet would have known this. A few months later I took him back to them for shots that were due and kept insisting that something was wrong but again they just looked at the old lab results and said he's fine. They have a blood glucose test available at their disposal (confirmed by their manager) but neglected to check his blood sugar while he was there. They refused to look into it any further. Had they done a simple prick and checked on a test strip back then we could have caught it early and started him on insulin. Fast forward to 14 months we took him back again and finally a new blood test was sent to a lab that confirmed his diabetes. He went untreated for over A YEAR and now it's too late. He's now blind and so thin, I don't think he's going to live another month. I called and complained the other day and was told one of the owners (who is a vet) would be calling me back to discuss but they never did. No follow up, no suggestions for a diet change, NOTHING. I had to ask them to authorize a special prescription diet for diabetic dogs. My dog is blind and dying thanks to the neglect of Blayney veterinarians. read more

One word....FANTASTIC!!! First off the prices are over half that of any other Vet around in the Valley. I took my boxer to Petco and was quoted 1,400$$ to remove his toe that has cancer on it. I left crying knowing I could never pay that and he was going to die. I was referred to Blayney's Vet by a great friend. I was there 2 days ago and they quoted me $75-$150 to remove the toe!!!! I have never really had a good experience here. Being new to Idaho, someone had suggested this vet and I decided to try it out. My dog was having a hard time breathing lately and we found out he had congestive heart failure. I was told to start him right away on medication, and I was coming every month to refill prescriptions. First off, the women who work the front desk were never friendly, and I never liked that. You want to be able to feel like the people who care for your animals give a shit about their job. Second, forget ever getting a manager on the phone. I tried for 2 weeks to talk to a manager and not once got a call back. They took down my information 3 times too might I add. I even came in and was told manager was all of a sudden at "lunch" when an hour prior I was told to come in, as she was in. Never got a call back after that either. I called them when my dog was dying and was told to have them wait it out, to put my dog in a dark room to ease anxiety, well my dog ended up dying thanks to that advice, I should of just taken him into the vet ER even though they told me I didn't have to. And guess what, when I told them over the phone I didn't get one single " I'm sorry for your loss" or any sort of condolences. Honestly people, if you are looking for a vet place that truly cares for your pets, don't go here, you won't get it. It's just a job for these people and it shows through their actions and attitude. Told my mom she had failed tear duck issues when in fact she had diabetes. Went untreated for 3 weeks and she died in a coma. I will never forgive them for that. Well, I am Not a happy customer... Six months ago, I took in my Beagle, Elvis and they were treating him for a muscle strain in his back.. I gave him the pills they prescribed in the exact dosage. One day later, he lay down and DIED!!! When I called the clinic I got this response---"I'll let the vet know" click!!! I never heard another word!! Today I got the card reminding me to get him his annual shots. I will never recommend Blayney for pet care. read more

I would give a negative 5 stars if possible. These incompetent fools killed my dog during a routine teeth cleaning procedure. He was a healthy, happy 2 year old bulldog, and they advised he should have his teeth cleaned. On necropsy, no dental disease was documented and since he died BEFORE the cleaning could be started, he should never have even been there that day. They used the wrong sedative, and then didn't monitor his airway, and instead of carefully transferring him to the procedure room, made him walk, causing him to suffer cardiac arrest. They failed to resuscitate him, partly because he had not been well oxygenated for an hour, and partly because they used the wrong reversal agent for the sedative. Fools. You killed my dog. And then made me pay to get his body. Shame on you. Its been over two years and I miss him every single day. He died needlessly at the hands of those appointed to care for him. I hope he haunts your dreams and causes you to stop and think twice EVERY time you act on future cases. I'd say good luck on your journey, but I'd be lying. RIP Ozz read more

We have been going to Blayney Veterinary Clinic for Over 35 yrs. They used to be awesome in every way. A few years ago, I took my Yorkie in to have her teeth cleaned. She had a very bad time with diarrhea after she got home. I took her in to emergency there and Matt, who is a great Vet, took care of her. October 22nd, 2014 we took another dog in for teeth cleaning, shots and toe nail clipping.When we arrived home, she was moaning loudly and very disoriented. She was very upset, had feces on her back leg, her stomach was way bloated and she had watery blood coming out of her anus. I put essential oils on her belly and gently massaged it. They didn't trim her dew claws like they were supposed to. Lucky enough I had pain meds.and Probiotics. Thank goodness, she is OK now! It seems that the last few years, they are using Dr's who just got out of School, just to keep their costs down. I know someone who almost lost their dog from overdosing on meds. that were prescribed to him for an ear infection. They have saved me a ton of money in the past but now I am done with them. I wish their old vets were still there. read more

Took my dog in on Thursday for irritated ears and a cough, (it took a week to get an appointment) they diagnosed an ear infection; prescribed prednisone and Mometemax, sent the dog home with me. Came home Sunday to find him deceased under my daughters bed. This was very disturbing to my wife and children. I am not sure if he was gravely misdiagnosed or if the medication / immunization cocktail killed him. I am fairly confident that most dogs don't die from an ear infection. I had taken my 10 year old dog there since she was a puppy. She'd been pretty healthy all those years, but she required the general care. Spaying, vaccinations, etc. We also used their boarding services on 3 occasions, 2 weeks each time. It seemed like they had a quick turnover of staff. They never remembered us. We generally would never see the same vet twice. During the 4'th of July holiday, my dog quit eating and just didn't act like her happy self. When I called, the moment the clinic opened, and I told them how worried I had been about her, she's really sick. They said it would be 3 days before they could see her! I ended up going in the following day without an appointment, the receptionist was on the phone making an appointment for someone a day earlier then my dogs original appointment. They did see her, but added on an extra fee. The vet said her lab work came back normal and began treating her stomach. Each time I called in to update her condition I would have to explain who we were and what had been done so far. Long story short, she was getting worse and I ended up taking her to another vet clinic that was recommended to me. The Vet figured out her problem in less than an hour. The lab work that Blayney's Vet had said was "normal" was incorrect. There was an elevated white blood cell count. She had cancer, we took her home for a heart wrenching last weekend together, she was struggling pretty bad by Monday and we had to have her euthanized. I will never take another pet to Blayneys, even if I have to pay more. I need someone who gets to now them when they're well and I can trust when they're not. read more

I have been using Blayney for some years but am very disappointed in the help I got today from Dr. Joshua Throne for my 12 year old standard poodle. I took her on a long walk which she has previously been able to handle. She has been on Vetprofen for some time do to age related arthritis. However after 3 straight days of sufficiently high pain that prevents her from walking more than short distances without rear leg collapse and great strain getting on her feet I called for help to see what should be done and whether it would be reasonable to increase her dosage. Via his receptionist I was told no. I asked if there are any alternatives, which I am sure there are, that we could to get her by temporarily until her condition settles. Again no and no offer to examine her or anything else. I told them I believed they were being uncaring. Their response was "I'm sorry"! I hope De Throne never finds himself under the medical care of someone as indifferent as he. I love most of the Drs at Blayney but should you chose them be cautious about Dr. Throne if he will be caring for your pet. read more

If you live in Idaho, don't go to this vet. My family member used this vet for her dogs. Recently her dog needed its second surgery do to kidney stones within weeks of surgery the dog was passing stones again. When they took the dog in they were extremely rude and uncaring of the issue and took no responsibility for their lack of quality care. This is a vet that has no integrity and compassion for the animals they treat and there owners that pay to keep their animals healthy. First time customer, and had to put my dear old cat down. Went in with a family member. The front desk asked us how much she weighed; we told them, then they took her into the back and weighed her and told us "Guess what? You were right!! - Good guessing!!" with inappropriate glee. Once in a private room, another girl came in and insisted on weighing her again. In our confused grief, we allowed it. Sadly, I watched the girl pick my cat up by her emaciated neck out of our warm blanket and put her on the cold scale around the corner of the room. I quickly went to my cat's aid and wrapped her back up. It nearly made me sick watching how the girl handled my poor cat. The vet lady who came in next was nice, however she did not dress like, nor look like a vet, nor did she have a name tag on, nor did she introduce herself. I had to ASK her if she was the vet, and she agreed she was. I remain unconvinced. She injected my cat in the neck with the chemical she insisted would relax her, then said she'd return in a few minutes to give the final shot. Rather than relaxing, my cat began retching uncontrollably, trying to throw up. It was soul crushing for us watching this!! The lady returned after what seemed an eternity and asked how she was doing. When we told her, she said "oh, that happens sometimes, unfortunately." Seriously?! She should have stayed and checked and not let the cat suffer. Next, she took a large electric razor, pulled away the blanket and moved my cat into an uncomfortable position, and shaved a pile of fur from the inside of her leg and injected the last needle. Rather than leaving us in peace with our last few minutes, she stood hovering there with a stethoscope stuck under my cat's midsection, waiting for my cat to die. We could not even pet our cat because the lady stood in the way. She should have had the emotional intelligence to leave the room - it felt so horrible and invasive to have her hovering like that waiting for her to die, which was going to happen within a minute or two anyway. The cat was completely immobile midway through injecting the second needle. I do know what it's like to have a cat put down correctly. The last time was at a different vet and in contrast, it was a "satisfactory" and appropriate experience. No one took him out of his blankets to weigh him; I was allowed to keep him close to me at all times. They quickly shaved a small portion on top of his already outstretched paw and injected the relaxing agent into him. He went limp immediately and relaxed completely, then within a minute or two injected the final needle in the same spot. They left me alone with him, understanding that I wanted that last bit of time with my cat in his final moments. The whole experience at this other vet could not have been executed any better under the circumstances. So my family member and I had an awful experience with Blayneys this December 2016. These are memories that will never really go away. Blayneys: Please figure out your business process for putting people's pets down, and get it documented for all your staff. Get it right, and do it better, so that future customers don't have experiences like ours. read more
