OK, I admit... I'm a pizza snob. I grew up in NY, and have eaten pizza in at least fifteen different states, in at least 200 pizza restaurants, and I never thought I would get a good pie in Lafayette. And if you've looked at my other Lafayette reviews, you will see my not so high opinion of the other pizza places in this town. However, I have got to say that I was totally impressed with Blaze..... so let's look at the reasons why. They are very simple. A pizza has three main components, crust, cheese, and sauce. I don't view toppings as a real component as a good pie really doesn't need them, and lots of pizzas mask their deficiencies by adding sausage, pepperoni and all that other crap to them.. Crust - This crust is really good.... slightly charred, chewy, but has a little melt in your mouth creaminess as well. It was not doughy, like a lot of pizzas, and the slightly charred flavor is quite delicious. It is especially good if you get the double thick crust for $2 more... definitely worth it. Pretty close to the crust of a good NY pie. Cheese - The mozzarella was good, but the fresh buffalo mozz is the star of the show here. High quality, delicious, creamy. Sauce - The spicy marinara is quite good... spicy, a little sweet.. very nice. While I don't do the sausage or pepperoni thing, the fact that you can add as many fresh veggies as you want for the same price is a great deal.. a little arugula, mushrooms, garlic, or onions are good on this pie. This is an excellent and delicious pizza, and if you don't think $9 is a good price for one of these little gems, you really need to get out more. The joint like this that I ate it in Houston charges $11 for one of these, and it was not as good. However, this place fails to get the five star rating as they REALLY need to keep it cleaner. There are enough kids working in this place to keep the tables and floor clean, without having to go to 3-4 tables that haven't been wiped off well, or wiped at all.. and I know it's not a one-time occurrence, as a few other reviewers have mentioned this... Bottom line... probably the best pizza in Lafayette. I just hope when I go there the next time, that the place is clean. read more

Horrible experience yesterday. Hotter inside the place than it was outside and the employees looked miserable sweating in there which is gross when they're working with your food. The food looked hot on top the cold bars which is not safe to eat. If you don't have a working air conditioning you should shut down for the day for it to be fixed. Not to mention the toilet that seems to still be broken and foul smelling since the last time I visited this town. Will likely not come back for at least a month or two and hope that's enough time to fix their issues. read more

This place is a create-your-own pizza concept. It is similar to an Izzo's, Which Wich, but with a pizza. You pick your own bread, toppings, sauces, etc. The service was pretty quick and cordial. The manager? was super busy working hard with the rest of his employees. They were all really nice and pleasant. As far as the pizza itself.... this is where I'm confused. Is it supposed to be burnt and taste like char? I've eaten a lot of different types of pizzas in many cities and countries but they don't taste like char. There are many other reviews that express the same issue. The bottom is burnt and you can definitely taste it. Any type of topping or sauce is overpowered by the burnt char taste. This place is on the pricier side for fast casual as well. 4 burnt personal sized pizzas and no drinks will run you about $35. You're definitely paying a premium for the location but getting mediocre food. Most likely won't be back. :-/ read more

Blaze Pizza - Thin crust char anyone? - Salad Near Me - Lafayette, Louisiana

I'm a big fan of the subway style pizza joints. With Pizza Artista just a hop and a skip away, I would probably go there before Blaze. - The restaurant was a complete mess! Understandable that its a new business and they might still be working their kinks out.. but I actually had to wipe the table that we sat at. Every table in the restaurant had obviously been eaten at several times and had not been wiped down. - The pizza was good, but not outstanding. I found that there are more topping options at Pizza Artista. The pizza was charred at the bottom. I understand that Blaze is known for "fast fired pizza" but that's no excuse. I got the spicy red base and let me tell you, IT IS SPICY! I can usually handle a certain amount of heat, but I was actually sweating eating my pizza. I'm really not hard to please when it comes to pizza. I might give Blaze another try, but if Im in the mood for Pizza, Ill probably go to Pizza Artista! read more

I was here today with my Mother. We both ordered pizza. I must say that the pizza was terrific. My Mom and I really enjoyed it. I loved the crust. I loved cheese. I loved the sauce. It was perfect. The spicy sauce is a bit too spicy for me though. I will definitely return for more pizza again. As for the service, I was not impressed. No one seems to enjoy working there and it almost caused me not to order at all. I think the staff there could take a lesson from the staff who works at Pizza Artista. The staff at Pizza Artista welcomes you, remembers your name when you come back, offers suggestions of what to order, keep smiles on their faces. Pizza Artista genuinely seems to care about their customers as well as each other. I thought after a couple of months, Pizza Artista would change, but they haven't. They are just as friendly as the first moment they opened. One other thing ticked me off as well. I signed up for the rewards when Blaze first opened and I was offered a free drink. My free drink was not honored today. It should have been. That was a bit of a turnoff. I did not realize that there would be an expiration on a first visit reward. Today was my first visit. I still ordered one of the drinks. It was a blood orange drink. Delicious. The pizza is great so I will go back again, but if the service does not improve, I will only go to Pizza Artista. I love the pizza there and I love the staff. I feel happy at Pizza Artista. I am hoping to give this place a 5 star rating the next time I visit. read more

Fantastic pizza! I have been eating at blaze in New Orleans and was so excited when they opened this one in Lafayette!!! Great staff, great food, they handle high business times really well, I never have to wait long. The pizza is cooked really well and quick. It's delicious, and the best part is you can make it however you want! I have eaten here 6 times since they opened and I have always seen the same quality of food and service, and it hasn't changed based on time of day. I highly recommend this place for anyone and everyone! read more

This is a national chain restaurant, so I knew it had to be pretty good. I like the Make-Your-Own Personal Pizza concept, so I was excited to try this place. Of course, I had to compare my experience at Blaze Pizza with my experiences at Pizza Artista on Johnston Street since they are so similar (same concept, atmosphere, etc.). The Verdict: Pizza Artista wins hands down!!!! However, there were things I liked more about Blaze Pizza as well. For example, the Lemonade and Blood Orange Lemonade at Blaze Pizza is so good! And that's it! Otherwise, tPizza Artista wins because there are more ingredients to choose from, more flavor, the pizza is not partially burnt on the bottom, they have beef/hamburger topping (which should be a standard pizza ingredient everywhere in my opinion), you can place your order to-go over the phone, they have the cool hand-washing machine, it's cleaner inside, etc. The employees at both places are nice and fun. Warning: When eating at Blaze Pizza, do NOT get extra red sauce on your pizza and make a blood orange lemonade to drink. I did that and had the worst heartburn for a week! It was horrible. Red sauce and citrus are two of the biggest contributors to excessive acid reflux, so be aware! read more

They have decent pizza with quality ingredients, but I must wholeheartedly agree with two other reviewers. First- the employees. No one seemed happy to be there; they all looked like hungover college kids. Second- my pizza tasted and smelled like char. There was a fine dust of burnt cornmeal, presumably from the oven, all over the bottom of my pizza. I attempted to wipe it off but still got a great whiff of nasty char before every bite. Even though they do not offer a children's size pizza, my 8 year old enjoyed it so we'll probably go back to give it another try. read more

It's fresh and perfectly crisp. On my pizza I had asked for the spicy red sauce, goat cheese(don't judge me),pepperoni and I had bought a drink. Fun place. Like a Subway for pizza except with a whole lot more variety and ingredients. Love making my own decisions on ingredients for my pizza. It's not quite a 4 star restaurant but like a 3.5. I know I am responsible for my own pizza so next time I will ask For more salt. The pizza dough was pretty flavorless and was just more of a delivery method for the additional toppings. The my did not skimp at all on the toppings and everyone was very kind. I like the variety they had, the flavors of the meat I chose (turkey meatball), and the speed of service. You're probably better off avoiding the smore cookie though ; so dry. I would go back if I was drunk or to give it another shot. Nothing amazing but I didn't want to give a 3 star rating. I like Blaze since I first tried it in Florida, Blaze let you personalize your own pizza with numerous other fresh ingredients kind of the same concept with chipotle but it's with pizza. Staffs are friendly and helpful , the place is clean and well organized, my pizza came out just what I expected from Blaze pizza. Located same plaza with petsmart. But at the last part when you can choose olive oil and arugula, etc. to the pizza I choose arugula but the guy staff put olive oil on my pizza. Good place. Not easy to phone it in - but ordering online is pretty easy. I made my own pizza - and it was good - not great. It may have been my combinations- but the sauce and crust were really good. I'm second guessing the choice of meatballs. Kudos to them for being open during the winter storm. We went in the restaurant on Friday 09/11/20 at 1:15. The second we walk in to look at the menu we get told that we can't look at that menu on the wall that we need to come look at the menu on a plexiglass which was so small we can barely read it. Then while taking our order we got directed to come on side of the plexiglass because the person taking our order cannot hear us defeating the purpose of the plexiglass. The guy who took our order was a tall bigger guy with big beard he was very rude the whole time. Needless to say this was just overall a really really bad experience staff was very rude especially, The guy taking the order even though this restaurant is closer for us will be driving to the other side of town to get the same pizza but better. read more

This is the Subway franchise of pizzas. The food is delicious but I highly recommend calling in ordering online to pick up if you're going to get anything afternoon. Apparently the workers are so busy they don't have enough time to wipe down the tables or the uncomfortable chairs. Otherwise, very good pizza, though they do tend to over cook their thin crust. The red vine pizza add chicken, spinach and garlic made me a better person. My kids got the one topping pepperoni pizza and loved it. My hubby got the BBQ chicken on thick crust and loved it as well. The 90 calorie strawberry drink was fantastic, and the tea was the fresh brewed kind. The staff (Amber and the rest) were engaging, polite, and made eye contact. Absolutely love this place. Very quick friendly Service. Everyone there has a smile on and they work so efficiently together. The options are endless. Solid pizza for a cheap price. I will say that the staff seems to have a difficult time keeping track of people's pizzas (or not labeling them correctly) during peak hours. Three times I've been here and three times my pizza has been misplaced or lost (hopefully not inside the oven). Staff has been very accommodating each time, but it wears on you. read more
