I was really torn between 3 and 4 stars here that I legit almost wanted to flip a coin to decide. Then again, would heads mean 3 stars or 4? I've tried Blaze Pizza in Cerritos, Seal Beach, and Buena Park before, and this Blaze Pizza was next closest to me. Normally, I wouldn't go all the way to South Gate just for Blaze Pizza, but I made an exception after a productive Friday morning. The Blaze Pizza in South Gate is located at the Azalea Regional Shopping Center on the northwest corner of Atlantic and Firestone. Blaze Pizza is on the easternmost end of the shopping center between Wingstop and Panda Express. I recently got an email from Blaze Pizza saying they wanted to invite me back with a $5 11" pizza of my choice since I hadn't ordered from them in a while. As if that wasn't enough of an incentive to make a return visit, I got another email the very next day saying that I could earn a mystery reward if I place an order within the next 5 days. Without hesitation, I made a mad dash towards Blaze before the Friday lunch rush. When I got in, there wasn't really a line, and a female employee greeted me. She appeared to be taking my order at the start of the counter, and I almost thought I would have had to pay first before building my pizza. No, she was just getting information in order to prepare my order. She did a great job of building my pizza and displayed plenty of dignity in the process. I didn't get her name, but Blaze Pizza should be lucky to have her as a crew member! I also asked for a cup of water as well as the $1 Fast Fire'd meatball Blaze Pizza was advertising last month. When I went to get a cup of water, I saw two dispensers with a water drop logo. I chose the one at the Sprite dispenser, but turns out it was sparkling water! I hope I didn't commit a foul, but it would have been nice to specify which was regular and which was sparkling. Also, while I was waiting for my pizza, there was a customer who seemed mentally deranged, though certainly not a threat, but I didn't feel comfortable being close to him. At first, I ordered "for here", but when the other crew member by the pizza oven was finishing up my pizza, that crew member asked if I wanted "for here" or "to go". I saw that the mentally deranged man was walking around, and so I chose "to go" in case I didn't feel comfortable eating inside, I could take the pizza back to my car to finish. I strategically sat at a table by the hand sanitizer and the napkins for ease of access during my meal. The meatball wasn't as flavorful as Blaze made it out to be, but I appreciated the generous helping of red sauce that came with the meatball. I ate the meatball first so that I could use the remainder of the red sauce on my pizza, which did add some flavor albeit minimally. The pizza was cooked to a nice crisp, though probably a minute or two away from being burnt. I enjoyed the overall flavor, but not so much the excessive grease, which in conjunction with the underwhelming meatball, almost caused me to give a 3-star rating instead. However, I felt service was better at this location than at the other ones, so I'm willing to bump my rating up to a 4. Did I mention how greasy the pizza was? Did I mention that I had to go up and get napkins after finishing each slice? That was such a nuisance, and imagine how much more it would have been had I been sitting far from the napkins in a full house. No joke, but with the number of napkins I needed for my meal, you would have thought I ate over a dozen bone-in Buffalo wings. And with ranch no less, IYKYK lol. The slices were also not cut evenly or even well for that matter. I had a difficult time discerning where the cuts were on my pizza that I'm pretty sure I pizza'd the wrong way lol. That was another hindrance that almost caused me to give 3 stars rather than 4. However, since the pizza was only for me, myself, and I, this was a non-issue, but if I were sharing with someone, then it definitely would have been lol. In spite of my grievances, I felt it was only enough to deduct one star, but not two as great service from the two crew members at the front of the house is not as common compared to pre-COVID days, especially in chains like Blaze Pizza. It was a very enjoyable lunch, and for $6 + tax, I couldn't complain, though if I were to pay full price on my next 11" pizza, I would certainly hope that it's nowhere near as greasy as this pizza.

I got a pizza with a hole in it, the toppings were not evenly spread out, and they forgot my arugula. I ordered multiple pizzas and I unfortunately did not get to check the other pizzas (likely were also made incorrectly).

This is solely for my experience with a take out order. I ordered through door dash. I am so glad that they have vegan crust and vegan cheese. My son is allergic to dairy but loves pizza. I confirmed with the employee of the crust and cheese were vegan and she said "yes vegan cheese and pepperoni" I was not asking about the toppings. I was fully aware that I ordered a meat product as a topping. I know it must throw the workers off that I ordered vegan products with pepperoni toppings but allergies exist. My order was expected ready by a certain time, yet I decided to be on my way before then. I am glad I did that since my pizza was being boxed as I arrived. I did notice that there is a price difference even when ordering pickup so will order directly at the restaurant next time.

Personally I'm not a fan of make your own restaurants much less ones that make pizza. But I was surprised that I became a fan. In no way am I saying it can compare to classic pizza. I feel this is in its own lane hence why many low ratings. The ingredients and the way the mesh well together and no limit on toppings. Their red pizza sauce is amazing. Acidic, sweet, earthy and a little tiny bit of heat. I get the regular crust and ask for extra red sauce. For cheeses I get shredded and fresh mozzarella,ricotta & extra Parmesan cheese. Meats are bacon and chorizo bits. And veggies I get artichokes, fresh basil, roasted garlic and extra mushrooms. And finish it off with olive oil drizzle and pinches of salt and oregano. The toppings can be too heavy for the pizza so try getting the pizza cooked well done for firmness and crunch. The service is fast and what you'd expect from a chain restaurant.

My cousin is President of Blaze. This location was okay, the girls at the counter were nice just not friendly or great customer service. In fact they seemed bored and we're slow taking their time in setting ingredients on the pizza. For 4 pizzas in line, 3 ahead of me took 15 minutes before getting acknowledged on a slow Wednesday at 130 in afternoon. The dining room needed through cleaning. The pizza was great in the overall appearance, taste and not over cooked or burnt. I first walk in I order a pizza the guy who took my order was very nice help me out when it came to paying I was asked if I wanted dessert I said yes I will have a brownie and they warmed the brownie I had to use the restroom so bad that I was not able to the guy that was doing warming up the pizzas had told me to move please to move back to where I was supposed to go because that was a closed place designated area,I said I only wanted to check if the bathroom was open he said no it's not available so he didn't apologize he just told me it's not available, so I went back to waiting for my pizza I leave I drive 15 minutes to get home I ran to the restroom and I forgot that I had ordered the Brownie! I was to busy thinking about me trying to hold it so I had to eat quick and come back drive another 15 minutes for a damn brownie! and the managers asked me if I wanted a soda to compensate!and I said no I don't want a soda he then said to the cashier give her another brownie, he didn't even apologize for the inconvenience, nothing so damn rude and I even tipped the cashier I'm so disgusted and so upset he should have asked me what can I do to make you happy? I would have said I want another Pizza how much are you going to lose? you just lost $8 right there I'm too brownies! that's how much a damn pizza cost I don't think I'll be going back there again especially if I have to deal with with the same type of employees very sad! read more

There are only a few things in life that I hold very dear to me. My wife, my children, and pizza. I am a self proclaimed pizza connoisseur. I have been to almost all pizza places worth trying. I have heard of Blaze before and thought that it will be just another Pie-O-Logy rip off. So when this place opened up just a few minutes I had to try it. So they have a few extra items that the other places do not have but there was one item that I had to have. ROASTED GARLIC. I ordered my usual, extra sauce, pepperoni, canadian bacon, mushrooms, fresh garlic, and I loaded up on the roasted garlic. I always get the pizza well done because I like it crispy. Sauce was great and so was everything else. The roasted garlic adds a whole new element of flavor that I crave for regularly. In the war of DIY pizza chains, BLAZE is winning the war in my opinion. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE Their food is good no complaints on that but I have a horrible experience here!!! So I was ordering and noticed it taking longer than usual and saw all the employees busy looking at something behind me so I turn and saw a horrible scenee. A couple in a booth having oral sex in front of everyone familys and all!!!! Girl giving guy oral and him hands in her shorts WTF!!! N all the employees watching the show when brought to their attention they said their manager would get mad if they confronted the couple really??!!! So your manager rather be a dam motel than good restaurant geezes!!! It was unbelievable guy moaning and all as if Noone was around I grabbed my order and left!! I don't think I'll go back to this ghetto location read more

Food was great! But the restroom was SO dirty. Toilet paper was not even bothered to be placed in the slot. It looked like it fell on the floor so I didn't use it. The trash can was overflowing and there was garbage all over the floor. I don't like to give 3 stars but the bathroom deserves less stars. Please clean ur restrooms! read more

First timer here at Blaze and I must say I was pleasantly surprised in regard to all aspects, from the quality of the pizza to the quality of service. Everything from the outside of the store to the open display of all the ingredients was both inviting and appealing. The time elapsed between ordering and taking the first bite of your food here is shockingly short considering the taste. Blaze Pizza is quality food served fast. Definitely worthy of a five star review, and it's safe to say that I look forward to becoming a Blaze regular! read more

I went to Blaze about a month ago with my best friend and I honestly have to say: Miguel, a worker at Blaze, made my experience fun and memorable. Miguel was assigned to the cashier position and he was able to easily strike up a conversation. His pleasant tone was clear and he asked questions to enhance my dining experience. For example, he ask me if I wanted to add any desert snacks or a drink to my meal. This upsale, in which I got, enhanced my meal and also benefited the company. It's been over a month and I still remember how Miguel's behavior and friendliness to his guests made them want to buy more food. I work in a restaurant and sometimes employees are overlooked. Miguel has excellent costumer service! The s'more cookies are really good! read more

There were six employees standing around asking each other who was going to help me out. I couldn't believe it. It took them five minutes to decide who was going to add toppings to the pizza. Lazy employees if you don't like working there then leave. read more

Oh my gosh this pizza location is great where it's located at a famous plaza. The food is completely delicious. Tons of different kinds of toppings that can be added. The crust is thin and just easy to split up from one piece to another. The employees are very awesome. They help you out with using the app or online ordering at the current moment during the so called covid 19 issue, but i rather call it the China beer virus since it came from that country. The drinks are great and the food comes out in a decent amount of time. I ordered a pizza before in the past with a friend and I decided to take another friend to take out this past weekend. This pizza is very delicious that you will enjoy and will be wanting more as the craving taste will have your taste in your tongue wanting more. I believe a person alone can eat a large pizza as that's how delicious it is. I also did the survey to win a free dessert when I go order myself another pizza. I highly recommend this place to place your order and in the future to dine in. read more

I love the interior and it feels urban and love the smell of pizza. The employees are very nice and helpful. They will guide you step by step for those who are new to blaze pizza. My first time I was going to order from the menu but one of the employees suggested that it's better to create my own pizza and how amazing is that to watch create your own pizza right in front of you. The pizzas are a bit small. It's enough for maybe two people if you're not that hungry. Each pizza is cut into 6 slices. So unless you're super hungry and don't want to buy another box, then this is not the place for you. The pizza is delicious! It's very clean and warm inside. I recommend it to anyone who loves pizza. read more

Just an FYI: If you're ordering gluten free pizza, prepare for it to be burnt. Mine was completely burnt to a crisp. They thought it was ok and served me with all the little black burnt pieces flying everywhere. THEN they told me, it takes longer to cook, so if I didn't want it burnt, it would be UNDERCOOKED. So basically, gluten free pizza is EITHER under or over cooked if you're at Blaze pizza. I got my money back, left the pizza and they gave us a voucher for a free pizza. Nah, I'm good. read more

The pizza is delicious. The ingredients are fresh. However, most of the staff is rude and they have no customer service skills. One girl walked away while adding ingredients to my pizza without even saying excuse me. I had no idea what happended for 5 minutes and when she came back, she just asked "what else". Luckily there was no line but that was no excuse to be rude. Another time, a girl with a heart on her neck rolled her eyes like I had bothered her immensely when I asked for a drissle of olive oil when my pizza was done. Not only that, her facial expresssion after rolling her eyes made me just tell her nevermind. This is the closest Blaze pizza to me and each time it's more of the same. I will have to find a new place since it seems like these people have no training in working with people. read more

Last week I ordered a bbq chicken pizza. First time trying this place out. Took my first bite & it was disgusting. Come to find out there was another cheese ingredient besides mozzarella. It was strong & I didn't like it at all. Took the pizza back and they were so generous to make me a new one with only mozzarella cheese, and no extra pay. For being a first time customer, I was truly pleased with how they made me feel satisfied. read more

This restaurant is my favorite place to eat at, the only reason why I gave it a 3 star rating is because the employees are so rude and very unhappy. They always look mad and angry. The employee named Danny literally screams at me when I'm ordering every time I go, I go often but jeez cool it. The ingredients are always fresh the pizza is always great and flavorful! The dining room is always dirty though, I wish they would clean it more often. Next time I go and someone is rude with me, you're getting cussed out. #PERIOD read more

I always love coming to this Blaze because the staff and manager, Filabuerto I believe, are so friendly! The location of this store is also great because it's in a popular shopping center. I also want to give a shout out to Pancho for always being in a great mood; you can tell he actually enjoys doing his job and doing it right! This store is also really clean and well paced even when they're the busiest! read more

So I usually go to MOD pizza but I thought I'd give Blaze one more chance because it is closer to my house. First time coming here I got food poisoning. Second time coming here, I ordered one pizza, ONE, there was a lot of people inside so I decided to exit. Came back 5 minutes later, and they didn't have my pizza. Come on guys get it together. I get it. I work in food. Things happen. But dam if you know you gave out my food, and it was to the wrong person I should be the priority. I don't not understand what was so difficult about finding my order. Anyways got my refund and this so the last time I will be coming here. Get your stuff together guys. read more

I made a yelp account just to write this review thanks to the bad experience. I used to be a loyal customer at this location when it first opened up and store manager used to be Jocelin. I stopped coming when they got a new store manager because this place always seemed to be out of control and some of the new employees they hired have nothing but bad attitude. I was in town tonight and said hey let's give Blaze another chance maybe they've got things under control now. Not the case. I came in at about 7 pm and the people on the line were friendly and patient. I couldn't decide on my toppings so I stuck with the meat eater. But when it came to the person at the oven, she had a bad attitude!! I believe the name tag said Chan. Not only was one side of her oven broken or off cause there were only flames on one side. I asked if she could leave it in a little longer because I like mines a little toasty. Her response was to roll her eyes and mutter something under her breath. I was going to ask for her shift leader but I have already had problems with her at previous occasions for wanting extra cheese on my pizza which she refused; if I recall I think her name is Jessica. All I can remember is the blonde hair and bad eyeliner. Anyways I ordered my pizza to go. My name was called out and my box was tossed on the counter by Chan. No eye contact, no thank you have a nice day. Instead she turned her back at me and pulled out her phone. When I got home and took a bite of my pizza it tasted funny and I looked at the bottom and it was burnt! I guess I'll go back to the Whittier location which is farther from my home but at least I'll get good customer service. I don't recommend this place. Management should really have a talk with Chan and explain to her the definition of great customer service. read more

I'm a big fan of Blaze Pizza. It's a fast-casual pizza chain that allows you to build your own pizza with all sorts of toppings, including some funky ones like blue cheese and whole garlic cloves. Not to mention they have a great selection of fountain drinks, and bottled beverages including Mexican Coke! I especially like the fact that Blaze offers vegan and gluten-free options. The service at Blaze is always friendly and efficient. The staff is always happy to help you build your perfect pizza, and they're always willing to make recommendations. The restaurant is also clean and well-maintained. I would give Blaze Pizza a 4 out of 5 stars. I think it's a great place to go for a quick and delicious pizza. The only thing I would change is to offer turkey-based pepperoni or sausage as an option for non-pork eaters. I think this would be a great addition to the menu, and it would make Blaze even more appealing to a wider range of customers. So after a good while of not walking into Blaze Pizza I came last Monday and the service was AMAAAAAZIINNNGGG!!!! The crew didn't let me down at all! The second I walked through the door I was enthusiastically welcomed with a "Welcome to Blaze!" As I approached I was greeted by Marina with a great smile She took my order down and passed me on to Pancho who let me tell you makes this place radiate with nothing but Joy and positivity! He added on my toppings and walked me down to the register where Michelle was waiting with a beautiful smile. She rang me up, thanked me and went on to cook my pizza. The pizza was nicely cooked, no burnt edges and evenly cut. I wish I could of taken a picture of it but it was so good I finished it all in one sitting. Writing this today because I see that someone at this establishment continues to reply to all the bad reviews asking to go online and provide more insight about their experience. You would think with all the negative reviews this person would force changes; but nope, the person would rather copy and paste the same response to all negative reviews. I've completely given up on this place and I LOVE Blaze. But this one won't get a penny out of me until it's cleaned up and they get their act together. Person replying to these reviews, don't bother on this review just like you didn't on my original one, instead get a plan of action and make it happen! This is one of the best locations I been to. I came in on Tuesday after the Dodger game with a group of friends to get some pizza and were glad we came because our pizza was delicious. Eduardo was being really friendly while making our pizzas and made them just how we wanted. Aside from the pizzas their brownies are also good and their lemonades that they have. I've become disappointed in this location due to their staff and management team. If you want food and don't care about the type of service you receive, this is the place for you. If you like being treated nicely, this isn't the place for you. Almost the entire staff with the exception of the manager is teenagers from im assuming the local high school. Blaze pizza changed the way I look at pizza places. I'm used to joints like Pizza Hut and this is much different. It's like a chipotle but for pizza.
