We actually had plans to go to The Old Spaghetti Factory in Duarte, but since it was my daughter's birthday and she was in the Downey area, we decided to meet her there and have dinner at Olive Garden instead. We hadn't been to Olive Garden in years. Honestly, over the years it seemed like the quality of the food had changed, even down to things like the breadsticks. I think food quality in general has changed a lot in America, with so many places using poorer-quality ingredients than they did years ago. So Olive Garden really wasn't somewhere we had been rushing to go back to. The restaurant itself has definitely changed aesthetically from what I remember many years ago. It was very clean and nice inside, but it was COLD! Uncomfortably cold to the point where it felt like your food would get cold almost as soon as it hit the table. What made me give this experience 5 stars, though, was the way everything was handled. At first, they were going to seat us at a large table near the kitchen where there was a lot of action going on. When we asked if we could sit somewhere a little quieter, the host had absolutely no problem moving us to another table. That area wasn't quite as cold either. Later, when the cold air started becoming unbearable again, another waitress told us she would let the manager know. They took care of it right away. That kind of responsiveness makes a difference. Then there was our server, Donte. He was AMAZING. He was on point with everything. Anything we asked for, he brought out right away. He stayed on top of our refills, checked on us, and just gave us genuinely great service from beginning to end. I personally ordered the Seafood Alfredo, added chicken, and substituted angel hair pasta for the fettuccine. If you like Alfredo but don't want those big, heavy fettuccine noodles, try it with angel hair. It was a great way to have the dish. My mother's Zuppa Toscana, unfortunately, was probably the one real disappointment. She remembered it being much creamier and more flavorful years ago. This time she felt it was watered down and lacked flavor. We actually had a pretty big order, but everyone was so hungry that I didn't even think about taking pictures! Sometimes you're just enjoying the moment, and this was one of those nights. The manager also came over to our table to ask how everything was going, and even acknowledged us again as we were leaving. Very good management and customer service all around. If I go back to this Olive Garden, I would definitely ask for Donte. The food was good overall, but the service and the way the staff handled everything are really what made this a 5-star experience for me. The Olive Garden meals are always reliably delicious, but I will say that this time, instead of ordering the salad out of fear of ingesting that parasite that is currently plaguing folks, I ordered never ending soup. I ordered the zuppe toscana and the minestrone soup, and they were both lacking in flavor. The zuppe toscana had big slices of potato that were awkward to eat in a soup and although it did have a kick because of the spicy sausage, it felt a little thin. The minestrone wasn't anything special - the prevalent taste was canned diced tomatoes. However, my main entree was delicious. I ordered the Calabrian steak and shrimp bucatini. The sauce was great and the shrimp was cooked to perfection. The beef could have been cooked better as it was a giant lump of beef pieces that were stuck together in the middle of my dish when I first received it, but overall, it was delicious. We arrived to a full restaurant with a wait of people indoors and out. We checked in with the host and let her know we joined the waitlist online and we were sat next. Shantel was our server and she was friendly and gave us such wonderful service despite it being so busy. She brought out all our drink orders and entres so quick, and was on top of everyone's Pasta, soup and drink refills. Came in last week with the family to celebrate my daughter's very special day. We had a party of 13, 11 adults and 2 kids. Allison was our waitress, she was on top of the drinks and food. When I asked the manager to cancel it since our meals had already come out, there was no attempt to resolve the issue beyond a simple acknowledgment. Came in on a Friday at 7pm. Absolute CHAOS. I was second on the wait list for a table for 2. I watched 3 other tables for 2 and one for 4 get tables before us. Our waiter went on break without telling us before taking our order. And it took a minute for his replacement to come by. Once we were done eating, we waited about 20 minutes for someone to come by so we could get to-go boxes. I got spaghetti and my pasta was overdone. Olive garden never fails!! I used to come here all the time for years and always got the chicken alfredo. Now that im grown, i get the sirloin with a side of pasta (normally it comes with fettuccine alfredo but i get it with marinara). Its delicious! My husband gets the create your own gluten free with sausage. I love their peach bellini tea. Of course the breadsticks dipped in the alfredo is to die for!! We've always had excellent service and of course its still faux italian in there. Cleanliness can vary (at least on the floor) but ive always loved it here. read more

I ordered the classic Chicken Parmigiana! Marone, I love this plate, absolute GO TO plate when I go to OG. 2 chicken cutlets and plenty of pasta! Very poor service today. I had order catering a few days ago, with a scheduled pick up time was 11:15am. Went today to pick up, and it was not ready until about 12:10. We were having a celebration in our office and some staff have their lunch end at 12:30 and 12:45, mind you that we still need to drive back to the office. Shout out to Diego J and the Olive Garden Downey team for excellent service. Usually Olive Gardens have been 3 star experiences at the Torrance and Carson ones in my area. This location at Stonewood Center is close to my mom and that's where we spent her recent birthday lunch time. The front of the house was kind to open the doors for us as I was wheeling my mom in. As for parking, all the disability spots were taken but there were a plethora of adjacent "pick up order" spots next to the disability ones. The manager was super nice and said it was okay to park in pickup #1. We had our blue placard displayed and it was no problem. Food and service was amazing! Mom's enjoyed her favorite spaghetti and meatballs and it was still good as leftovers later. I am a fan of the M-F lunch special- soup, salad, and breadsticks. Always like their chicken gnocchi soup. Later on Diego and his coworkers came by with my Mom's birthday tiramisu and sang happy birthday to her. Other neighboring diners were sweet and sang along too. Mom was so delighted.
