I took my family to your Maywood location yesterday. In the past, we've visited with a larger group, and the food was always fresh -- we never had any bad experiences. However, yesterday we ordered two pizzas -- a Meat Lover (XL) and a Chicken (Large) -- and honestly, the Meat Lover was extremely salty, missing a topping, and the ingredients did not taste fresh. The crust was also burnt. The Chicken pizza had the same issues: it wasn't fresh, and the crust was burnt as well. This review has been 10 years in the making. Today for the first time in 10 years I made the trek to Big Al's. I will say things have changed and that is why the minus 1 star. Pizza is soooo good, but it used to be better. Lebanese pizza was flavorful but the dry garlic chicken left me a bit sad. Carne asada pizza was rich with savory flavor but I think having it right out of the oven would have been better. Seating no longer offered so had to drive it home and reheat it. The experience of eating it hot and ready was part of my original ritual. Lemon pepper wings were still fire. Seriously no notes. Cheesecake was also tasty but I recall it being less creamy and more cake-y before. Kind of funny they were locked up in the freezer, but perhaps for good reason? Price wise it's worth it as a treat, this isn't an everyday pizza. Place could use a good clean with the kitchen visible. This was my first time purchasing from Big Al's pizzeria. For a visual I was disappointed in the size, but once I get into the slice I realized it was a very dense dough. This made up for the size as the density made it very filling. The flavors were really good and overall it was enjoyable. They were very accommodating and the service was quick. We came here before a concert that was about 15m away. When we saw the entrance it looked like a take out only situation. We ended up going elsewhere but after the reviews mentioned wings and beer my friend called to see if there was indeed a space to eat. There is! The chicken is cooked well and they are smothered with sauce. They are quite greasy though. The pizza was ok. The crust reminds me of Domino's. The brisket was flavorful me but the friends thought it was just ok. The other pizza had interesting flavors but the pickled veggies weren't as appreciated as they probably should have been. Big Al's has always been such a family favorite. But as they've gotten bigger, quality has slowly been going down. The Maywood location was still consistent but today, even they disappointed. We got a brisket and a meat lovers pizza. The meat lovers was soooo salty. I couldn't eat more than 3 bites. We also got a lemon pepper wings and all the sauce was on one side of the box and the wings were not even tossed. Salt on this was high as well. The only decent thing was the brisket pizza, hence the 3 stars. Inside lacked the usual homey feeling the owners had put out. Now it's ran by workers and service is lackluster. *ORANGE LOCATION* I was there recently. It was my first time at the Orange location. Easy to get to. Location is in a corner intersection. The place is nice and spacious. When I placed my order, I was told it would be a 35 minute wait. I returned and my food was not ready. It took about 50 minutes to get my order. That was disappointing as the Maywood location is usually prompt with their time delivery. The food quality was delicious as always. A very rare halal pizza spot offering specialty pizzas fusing middle-eastern food with a slice of Americana. I'm willing to shell out a few dollars more for 2023 adjusted for inflation prices, but 34 dollars for a small, specialty pizza and a slice of cheesecake is on the higher end of things. For the pizza: There's a lot of specialty pizzas for you to choose from. I went with the prevailing number one choice on yelp: The garlic labanese chicken pizza. I wish I went with a different one though. Although it tasted literally like a pita Shawarma pizza (if there was ever such a thing), there's too much ingredients on the small size for it to hold it's own weight. As a result, the toppings slid right off. And I mean right off. The ranch synergies well with the garlic. So much so, the middle-eastern pita/pizza tastes way too much like a pita, less like a pizza. Although I like things different, there are certain things I still continue to hold true to this day when it comes to pizza: No pineapple. No garlic. No anchovies. This is unfortunately not the exception. Even worse, the chicken was only half-baked, and I'm not talking about the feel good pie n the hazy sky kind. Undercooked, it kinda tasted funky and some of the bits were shredded, while others were cubed shape. Texture was kinda gnarly Wasn't cooked evenly and consistently within the pizza. Gave off a not so pleasing and undercooked type of aftertaste. So 2/5 for the Lebanese garlic chicken pizza. It feels like I'd have a happier time with any other of their specialties, and I would try this place again. The saving grace was their homemade dessert. I ordered the Oreo strawberry cheesecake. And this was a perfect 5/5. Everything about this was amazing. From what it appeared as organic and homemade strawberry paste-jam and creme garnish atop, to the durable but not tooth breaking hard crust. Had this place bookmarked but never convenient for us to make the drive to try the pizza here! Finally had the opportunity yesterday! Located in a little plaza with adequate parking. They offer a reward system, so it's definitely a plus for locals! You have the option to phone in order, order online or order in person. We placed our order in person and went next door to wait for our pizza and wing a to be ready. Next door, there are lots of tables and chairs as well as TV and restroom access. The pizza was very pretty and pleasing to the eyes and pictures. Love their take on pizza toppings but the chicken for the Lebanese garlic chicken was a bit dry but the other half of our pizza was great! Love the textures. Ordered the lemon pepper before and the chicken wings were literally drenched in oil. Yikes. Service: Pizzas here take about 30-45 minutes to make. Better to call-in ahead of time. They also don't tell you but there's seating area next door on the left side of the restaurants. Not really well-maintained as the music sometimes doesn't play or the tv's that are on play at very low volume so you're sitting there in awkward silence. Hey, at least they have an onsite bathroom.
