Apparently it's popular, so you either need to go early or luck out. The cream puffs and cookies are great, but I finally got a kouign amann. It's a lovely pastry. The sugar/thin layer of caramel on the top is substantial without being too thick. Just enough to hold and break apart. The laminated dough is nice as well. Not overly buttery, but still light and fluffy.

I will say they're a little denser than say Cafe Du Monde in NOLA, but overall feel pretty representative. Maybe timing when you go is super important. I've only gone early-mid mornings on the weekend and everything I've had tasted super fresh, but some of the other experiences I'm reading feel like what happens when I reheat some older ones I kept in the fridge. Our host, Cody, was incredible and super knowledgeable about all things tea. He guided us through everything from the origins of matcha to how to make it ourselves at home. It was especially helpful to watch him make the drinks and see the proper technique for whisking matcha and what temperature water we should be using when making our own, etc. For the tasting itself, he made us 4 different matcha drinks - all of which were soo good!! It changed my perception on what good matcha drinks can taste like and I think has increased my standards (for better or for worse lol). If you love matcha, interested in learning more about it and want to try some different matcha drinks not offered anywhere else, I highly highly recommend the Matcha Lab.

But not what I wanted at the moment, so pass. But there were plenty of small dishes so went with the pork buns. Those things were small but packed with flavor. The bartender suggested a fork and knife were appropriate since it was so delicate and he was right. But the cocktails!!! Dessert goodness in a glass. I went for the mustachio which was packed with chocolate goodness. Darn that was amazing. Extra props for the great service and suggestions. The lady next to me suggested I try their cocktail class sometime.
