This is probably one of my favorite restaurants in Queens. They have the most amazing food choices and drinks. There customer service is over the top , such amazing and lovely ladies and gentlemen's working there and giving 100% to every customer so that they feel satisfied. Such beautiful flower decoration against the wall on the ground floor and although the bathrooms are quite dark they give you such a cozy feeling. The atmosphere itself is super energetic and I've been here so many times it'll be wrong not recommending my friends to go there. Blend keep being great! Let's start with the positives: great atmosphere and friendly staff (bravo to what appeared to be only one waitress for the whole place) and one really good margarita cocktail called the TAMEZCALITA (highly recommended) The rest: although the food had good flavor it just did not seem to be executed very well. We started with the Cuban bao buns (pork was a little fatty and not enough sauce). For entrees we ate the Ropa Vieja (beef tasted good but was missing the demi-glaze or a sauce) and Chaufa Con Mariscos ( A paella with an asian twist?? and too much sesame oil) Final thought: I would go back for that drink and maybe for an appetizer but not for entrees or a whole meal, it is simply not worth the price. read more

I come here regularly, the food is never a disappointment I love to come after a Soccer Shape session, brunch on Sundays, on a date, after work any occasion is a good occasion to come to Blend. Sunday brunch - great options and reasonably priced. I wouldn't recommend the coquito pancake at all. It had no flavor whatsoever although our waitress recommended we get it for dessert (mistake). Blend is really a 2.5 star restaurant, but I have to round down based on the mediocre experience of my first and last visit to this restaurant. Kudos first off for the wonderfully open decor which is modern, clean and trendy, star one. Bus boys who were so very helpful, kind and efficient that I had to tip one separately, star 2. Half a star for live music yet it was so loud that I could barely hear myself talk. Now to the negatives. The service was neglectful and the only expediency came when I asked for the check. Part of the order was forgotten and the waitresses seemed to only pay attention to certain patrons, that is to say the young, hip and trendy. This is the demographic the restaurant wants, so even though they are listed as kid friendly it's not a family restaurant. In an empty restaurant, where service is slow and you see waitresses hanging around talking to one another, or three gathered around one table, it's more of a social experience for them rather than a job. As far as the food goes, the flavors we bland and the portions were tiny. There were only a handful of items on the menu, so one would expect those items to be perfected; they were not. The light up menus were cool, but they were better done than the food. Conclusion; Blend, like many parts of current life, is reflective of the times. Its value seems to be based on being trendy, new, hip, young, beautiful and loud, which is great if it were a night club. Horrible horrible experience. If you're looking for a bad time, you can find it somewhere cheaper and for a better use of your day. Our party of 17 congregated here for our friend's birthday on a Sunday afternoon. We arrived by 2:15pm for our 2:30pm reservation and was asked to wait by the bar which was totally understandable. Impressed by the sleek decor and wonderful drinks, we barely noticed time slipping by until 3pm came a-creepin'. I made several trips to the front desk to ask about our table and was informed that the party before us was still having dessert on our time! By 3:30pm I'd made my third trip and the birthday boy had to go speak to the manager to finally get us to our table only to find out that they didn't set up enough space to accommodate our party. A fourth of our party was left standing around the seating area until we were finally moved downstairs to wait, YET AGAIN, for another table to clear up. We were seated at 3:50pm... things, of course, get worse. Determined to not let the seating arrangement and long wait ruin a good time, we settled in and ordered our food. We were each offered a birthday menu and I ordered the chicken, rice, and beans with plantains which was unremarkable. The plantains were quite good but my chicken came out dry. As our food was brought out, our waitress spilled my friend's drink all over his dress pants. To smooth things over, the manager offered us one round of shots, a discount on our meal, and dessert for the birthday boy which was definitely appreciated. When the bill came out, we were shocked to find that the discount offered only covered the cost of our tip and that they added 50% gratuity on the drinks including the one that our waitress spilled & never drank. What??? We were genuinely confused by the multiple surcharges on our bill asked her for the breakdown and reasoning behind the charges but was met with defensiveness. I've never thought that I'd have experienced customer service this bad anywhere... but it happens. Just go somewhere else. Astoria has so much more to offer than this junk establishment. Blend, if you accept a reservation for a large party, SHOW UP FOR THEM OR PASS. Stop wasting our time. Waiting two hours for a reserved brunch is unacceptable. read more

I've been to Blend on the water and Blend LIC several times over many years, but eventually I didn't think it tasted too great anymore, but today I ordered from Blend Astoria and I was surprised! My food was amazing! My meal was one of the best takeout orders I've had during the quarantine. I ordered a beef empanada, skirt steak with rice, beans and plantains and tostones. If I could rate this place -5 stars I would. Worse experience ever. I made reservations for 2:30pm for brunch to celebrate my birthday. They had my party wait an hour before being seated after asking several times what was the hold up. They told us we had to wait for the last party to finish.( So why have reservations available!?) Once seated they did not accommodate the space needed for my party so several people were left standing. By then I was fed up and spoke to the manager and had to wait another 20 minutes to be seated. Reservations were for 2:30 and wasn't seated until 3:50. He accommodated us by giving us 1 round of free mimosas shots, 10% discount on the meal and free birthday desert. By the end of brunch, when asked for the check, I was made aware that one of the people in my party had oil spilled on him and into his drink yet They still charged 50% gratuity for a drink that was barely touched and added the discount after the tip and tax was charged. Just had the best meal at Blend Astoria! The staff were super accommodating and allowed me to order my favorite item off menu (pernil )! They seated us in the beautiful outdoor garden area they created to accommodate outdoor dining. Savannah was an absolute delight. She made us feel so comfortable and wanted to make sure we had fun. We went to Blend Astoria last night for my son's birthday. I was excited about the prospect. The reviews for the restaurant was positive. The ambiance from review pix looked really good. My son's girlfriend made reservations weeks in advance for this event. Unfortunately, from the get go, it was bad. We got there 5 minutes before our reservation time, they had given away our reserved table on account of rain. The customers they had seated outside moved inside to our reserved table. Then they tried to squeeze us into a 2 seater when there were 3 of us. Because they were getting busy, they did not want to give us the additional empty table next to us to make us more comfortable. Because we persisted in our request for a 3 people seating, they very, very reluctantly acquiesced. We ordered the short rib arepas and crispy shrimp for appetizers. The arepas was disappointing. The crispy shrimp was good. For dinner, we had filet mignon with shrimp and carrots "marzorca" that had a lot of cheese on it. It didn't look appealing at all (looked like moldy carrots) it was a turn off...no one touch that. We also ordered a citrus salmon (pretty good) and the pan seared tilapia in lemon sauce with spinach. I don't know what was in that lemon sauce, but I spent a very uncomfortable night with hives. We shared a warm chocolate cake. That was a winner! In summation, given the price, not worth going back. Service was pretty bad (they need to train their workers in customer relations and providing good service ...the bus boy took away our forks before dinner and didn't give us a new one automatically. Terrible experience with one of the bartenders. Went here last Saturday around 9pm, and sat at the bar with my sister and her boyfriend. There were two bartenders towards the end of the night, but I didn't get their names. One was tall, slim, and had dark skin (he was great), the other was shorter with black hair and had light skin (he was terrible). My sister asked the terrible one for a food menu, but he turned around like he didn't hear her. A female bartender was nice enough to tell him that we asked for food menus. He responds to her in Spanish (I guess not knowing we knew Spanish) that the kitchen closes at 10. The female bartender tells him, it's 9:45. He then turns around and asks us if we want drink menus. I think in the end we found out that the kitchen actually closes at 11. Anyway, as the night goes on he doesn't really attend to us or ask us if we need anything. The taller bartender does. So we start ordering from him instead. At some point, the terrible one spills a glass of water all over my leg. The rest of the time I'm there with my left jean leg soaked. To his credit, he did give me napkins and did say he was sorry. Then he went back behind the bar and continued to ignore us. It's hard to explain here, but his whole body language said he didn't want to deal with us. The taller bartender saw what was going on and offered us all shots at the end of the night. Again, he was great. When we left, my sister heard the terrible bartender make a nasty remark, but I won't post it here simply because I didn't hear it. Blend Astoria is pricey compared to other restaurants offering similar food and drinks. For the price, this isn't the experience you want. This terrible bartender needs to be educated on what being in the service industry is all about. read more

Don't bother coming if your not patient. The food is not bad, drinks can be improved. My margarita tasted like I was drinking lime juice with pulp. Waitresses are fake friendly with attitude. They take FOREVER to get to you and the entrees take a really long time. Like a very long time. Music is way too loud inside that I can't even hear myself think. Two stars The hostess was busier and much more interested in talking to people she knew than to the people walking in. Food wasn't great. Had the steak and i asked for medium/rare and I received it burnt. Service was bad waiter was very inattentive, she never came back to check up on us. We had no food utensils at first and she was no where to be found. Neither was any other staff. We wanted refills on our beer and wine and we couldn't get any since she was literally gone. The small two seater booths were extremely uncomfortable my butt kept sliding down, I had to hold myself up the whole time. So I gave Blend Astoria another shot and this time they didn't disappoint. The food was good and prices were really reasonable for lunch time. The entrees were about $10.00 and a few of them were a couple of $ more but not much of a difference. I was really surprised at the prices. I got the Churrosco and my friend got the chicken cutlet entree. They both come with rice, beans and plantains. The steak was done medium well and was pretty good. It was made more on the well side but that's okay. The chicken cutlet was really dry tho. You have to make sure you put lemon with their signature sauce. The flavors of the food were good. Our waitress was Saleema and she made sure everything was good. She was consistently checking up on us and this time it didn't take forever to get our food. My family decided to dine out to support the local business. We made the reservation for 7:30p. Upon arrival we were told that all reservations are not guaranteed for inside seating. We were told we have to seat outside in the freezing cold like people whom have No reservations. What a terrible experience. We thought to give it a try since we were already here. Waiter didn't come over after 20min and told us they have no menu and that we could check it out on their website!! Come on there are places don't have menu, but provide QR code to scan. While we looking at their website, a waitress finally provided us two menus. Mind you this was 40 minute into it we still did not get our water or any drinks AND still in freezing cold outdoor.. It was like they forgot about us. When they finally came to take our order, food came pretty quickly after. We told them just bring appetizers and entrees out altogether. We didn't want to wait any longer, it was too cold. We finish eating in less than 30 minutes. And I took my 5 and 9 y/o boys to the car, while my husband stayed waiting on the check, which took a long time too. He could have walk out of there without paying and nobody would notice us. But we are not that kind of people. We were there to support local businesses. I had to say, it was very unpleasant experience. Side note: even though restaurant experience was bad, weather was cold, my 2 young boys were tough and very well behaved. A mother couldn't ask for more. Con: Reservations are not guaranteed indoor(over book mostlikely). Forget customers whom sitting outdoor in cold weather (they didn't turn on all the heaters). Not be severed/long waiting time(under staff maybe). Pro: Food were good. Waiters were friendly. Place was nice, if we were inside. *Note for management: Do not over book if you can not guarantee a reservation. What is the point for reservation then.. The service was absolutely amazing. My server Lynette was so sweet. She took great care of our table. She was very patient and although it was busy, she made sure to make up on my table numerous times. The portions of the good was a little small but I can't complain because the food was absolutely delicious. We got the Cubano Baos, Empanadas, and I got the Pollo a la plancha. Everything was amazing. I went on a Friday night, and they had a live band. It definitely made my experience much better. The restaurant is beautiful. Even the ceiling looks cool. I went with two of my friends there for early dinner yesterday at 4pm and honestly the experience was very unpleasant. After we sat down, we waited about 10 minutes for the server to acknowledge us but we placed our whole order right away since we were all very hungry! Our server was Sophia. We waited 30 mins for just the appetizer to come out. But since it took so long, we thought our entree will come out right away but we kept waiting and waiting and at this point we sat there for 55 mins already. My friend had to get up and approach the server to ask her why it was taking so long. Her response was that during the time the kitchen is slow since its brunch and dinner food coming out together. But what puzzled us was the fact that the tables that came after us received their food already. The food finally arrived and everything we ordered was good, no complaints. Then I pulled out the yelp app to check in and post some food pics then I see that there's a free sangria deal for check in! So I showed our server Sophia the yelp deal and she asked "would you like a red or white sangria?" I ordered the red. My friend decided to write a review right there for the bad service we received and the manager acknowledged it right away and gave an apology which is appreciated. But then we asked for the check and our first check didn't include the sangria as it should be FREE with my check in. But when my friend paid the bill, they CHARGED for the free sangria without even notifying us and we only noticed it on the receipt after we got home! So disappointing. THE BARTENDERS... they are absolutely attentive to there customers as for my first time experience... they are gracious and welcoming. you really have to love that. Staff was friendly , food was good had the shrimp appetizer and the calamari appetizer , prices were good not too expensive , overall great place to hangout and relax . The last time I came here was with a very horrible date which in turn made me have an awful experience. I may have been a bit too harsh with my thoughts on the staff back then. It's been a year of growth me. Tonight I decided to treat myself to a solo dinner on a Saturday night where I knew it might be pretty busy.... it absolutely was. People on every table with loved ones while I was by myself. Kudos to Blend for being a hotspot in the neighborhood and for good reason. I took my mother to Blend this past mother's day. Me, my wife, two sons & mommy. We were early by almost 30 minutes. My fist impression was that this place looked very sleek. Modern. Clean. Black mirrored walls with creamy white, plush furniture. I liked it immediately. Though we were early we waited only about 10 minutes for a table. We sat in the back, in a corner. I like corners. We all liked where we were seated but we were under a speaker. Did I mention that the msic was very loud? VERY LOUD. On mother's day. My mother was uncomfortable. I asked a staff member to please lower the music. They turned that speaker off, which was great. Later on they turned the music way down in the whole restaurant. Folks must have been complaining. Our waitress was Sabrina. Nice, smart, attentive & funny. Yup, fo' real. She was funny. And she seemed to genuinely be happy to help with our meals. The food? It was great. Cuban/Dominican style nouvelle cuisine. Every dish we ordered was a winner. Flatbread, arepa, calimari apps. Chuletas, talapia, shrimp & burger entrees were all delicious & portioned well. We had a lot to take home. The one big anachronism are the drinking glasses. Mason jars. This homey, crafty, country touch did not jibe well for me with the modern sleek lines of Blend's decor. Mason jars at a BBQ joint are ok. But not at a futuristc, slick joint like Blend. This was my second time going to Blend. The first time, although the music is very loud which makes for uncomfortable dining and hard to have a conversation the food was delicious. Tonight I went with a friend and again music was blasting but the food was horrible. I told the waitress and all she did was send desert instead of asking if we'd like something else.
