I wanted to give them 5 stars so bad but couldn't. Got to my appointment early and was seen late. That wasn't a problem. I showed him what I wanted and he started with the first red flag I ignored. He flat out said that cut wasn't for me he's not sure if he could do it. I said do your best? When he was done the gel and combing style looked great. I noticed immediately it wasn't anything like the picture and my hair was cut short not shaved as requested and asked him to please take more hair off. The other stylist or manager was busy in the back then left to the" bank " Red Flag 2. He showed me the top. I love the length and say it clear and loud. He then grabs the hair length and cuts. When I reacted with why?!?!? I just said it's perfect, he replied My bad I didn't hear you. We are the only people there. I digress. His next client showed up and he started to get anxious about my asking him for more work. At this point I'm calm and decided I'll be back since he was being difficult. I called the next day came in and in epic fashion he acted surprised and lectured me on telling blended if I'm not happy in the day of the appointment. I tried to no avail so his remark already was red flag 3. He corrected some of it but pretty much made it clear after all this time- he didn't think the cut I chose was "right for me " and he didn't not "feel comfortable "because my head isn't the same shape as the model. lol. Is he for real?!?! Telling people no because it's not what you like is unacceptable. And for 65 bucks inappropriate Here is the picture. I always book my haircuts with Dre. He does great work. My three year old son used to hate haircuts. We took him to a kids' themed barbershop with cartoons and airplane chairs, but he would cry and complain the haircut was "too rough". So decided to take my toddler to Dre. Dre was so patient, calm, and kind. He checked in frequently and explained every step. My kid felt safe and respected and now, two years later, he looks forward to haircuts and does a great job sitting still and following Dre's directions. Last minute appointment was convenient and friendly staff on the phone and in-person. Got mine and my son's haircut. Challenging to agree on the right cut for my 6yo son, but barber tried to help. Can tell he's pretty new, but still nice and it ended up coming out just fine. My cut was done very well and I didn't feel pressured to small talk, which is always a plus. Comfortable environment. I'm giving a 4 star because pricing needs to be more transparent. I was unpleasantly surprised when both cuts cost me almost $100 and we had to skip rinsing my sons head due to overlapping appointments. Not the best spot to take you kid, even though my son behaved like an Angel, he was bothered my too much hair on his face and k had to keep asking the brush it and tell him when to close eyes, etc. I can see why kids haircuts have their own niche. This is the place to get your haircut if you want exceptional and a good haircut (which is hard to find) because it's hard to find quality that is consistent. The parking is open lot where there are a bit and also you can just walk across the mall if you're nearby (get those steps in!) the service was awesome as soon as you stepped in you were greeted with enthusiastic "hello" or "welcome" which is nice and the best time to chat is at a barbershop since it's free counseling just comes with the service. Dre was our barber and he did a great job. He listened to what my son wanted, and did a great job of communicating with him. He knew all the styles that my son was inquiring about and did a great job explaining which styles would work best with my son's (3c) hair texture. I walked in to schedule an appointment with the owner. According to another barber who is setting it up for tomorrow at 12:30PM on February 1, 2025, he's going to charge me $70 just for a haircut. Are you kidding me? I've had haircuts from various barbers here and always tipped them $20 afterward, which I think is quite generous. I've never had any issues, but a $70 charge for a haircut? That's ridiculous! They never offered me a hair wash after the haircut and never offered me a beverage at this location. Was in dire need of a barber, my regular went on to greener pastures. Found out my brother's shop moved from pearl city to town! Super stoked cause we live town. This shop is located right next to julianas. Walked in, get greeted instantly which is always nice. Well lit, super clean, lots of chairs. My first place I went to, kind of felt awkward cause the other barbers just kind of stare and do their own trips. Not here! Everybody talk story, engage with others. Felt super comfortable! My brother put in the work though cause my hair was a mop! the end result was perfect! Noticed they all take their time and pride themselves in their work. As they should cause they all really do good work. They even stayed open little later cause a customer was running lil behind. If that's not good customer service, i don't know what is!
