My Son needed a haircut ASAP! So I called during the week to see if any appointments were available specifically for Saturday @ 1230p. A sweet gentleman by the name of Chaz answered. He took down my name and number, asked if he could please get back to me because he wanted to see who was available. In less than 5 minutes he called back and said a barber was available for my desired time! Fast forward to Saturday: Found street parking fronting the shop! It's a cute little establishment with an awesome vibe. My son was greeted by his stylist Ana. She was very attentive listening to what style he was going for and even looked at a pic. On vacation with the family from Iowa and our 19 year old son wanted a haircut. Saw the good reviews and stopped in. Our son is a Civil War confederate re-enactor and his hair was curly and shoulder length as he wears it long to the shoulders all summer. The gentleman who cut his hair did a superb job and cut it short per our son's direction, (he also re-enacts Union). He loves it and so do we. I used to always take my kids here for a quick cut the people and environment was always so professional But over the past year or so the environment has turned into something I would never want my kids around. All you hear is foul language. You can see the stylist outside smoking and giving just complete unprofessional attitudes before you even walk in. This funky little no-nonsense barber shop/ salon is jamming with 4 chairs and a steady clientele. I had walked by a couple times and seen them doing some radical urban designs on young guys heads. When I couldn't get in to see my usual barber I impulsively popped into Bliss to get neatened up with a simple buzz cut and beard trim. I took the first random open chair--- and the young man was very pleasant and patiently tried his best to please me--- but I'm used to my regular guy just doing his thing with no input from me and it coming out great and this new guy needed me to tell him what I wanted --- which I totally flunked since I never pay attention to what millimeter my buzz cut is and so on ---- so I can't blame him for that. I'm that "just make me look good" guy that probably drives them crazy. When I looked more closely after, there were some random hairs and uneven spots that shouldn't have been there. Later I bumped into a guy (regular Bliss customer) who had been getting his hair cut the same time as me; he told me the barber I had is new and just got out of barber school, which pretty much explained the situation. I think I only paid about $27 total including tip and I got what I paid for. It was Ok. Anyway, that same regular Bliss customer also told me the best barber is the woman on the left who is the owner and he always goes to her. So now you know. read more

Great cut from Sergio! I was seated immediately, got a super fresh cut & he even ended off with a straight razor shave to the neck and line-up. I showed him some pics of how I wanted my cut & he got it done excellently! 2013-17-13 was my first time experience at bliss haircut salon. Overall, this is the best by far to me. I have tried many different barber shop in the island of Oahu, but bliss stands out the best. At least I had been in six different barber shop location, but none of them is like bliss. Joanne was my barber at the time, and she is really nice. The way she was cutting my hair was calmly, consistent, with a soft touch. I didn't feel she was rushing unlike other barbers. I would like to suggest/recommend that when taking an appointment, you ask what type of cut they want done to allow other appointments not to run behind, or to reschedule one's appointment completely. A customer should not have to wait by any means. If you have to block out an hour due to a custom cut, then do it by all means. Don't waste a customer's time, or they will find service else where. By Appointment Only: No, sometimes you can walk-in. It's worth a try. I did. If you do schedule an appointment, make sure you have the day off, a lot of time or something, due to the excuse of "Running Late or behind in appointments." Service: Again, I went in for a fade, and left very satisfied. Atmosphere: An intimate Salon. Chill. Great location. It's a small barbershop near Ward. They recently painted the outside with graffiti so you can't miss it. I think Bliss started getting popular because of Kaliq and his designs but for about half a year he's been doing his own thing in down town somewhere. Nevertheless, my boyfriend continues to get his hair cut here because of the friendly service and convenient location. We usually run errands together on Fridays so I always tag along for his weekly hair cut here. Now he goes to a barber named Donald. I don't know much about guy hair cuts and lining up or whatever but Donald's a cool guy and my boyfriend's always really happy with the service and looks fresh after his hair cut every time we leave. 5 stars for you Bliss! read more

I want to start off by saying that I'm REAL picky about my hair cuts. I once went through 6 barber shops before I found one I liked and that did a decent job. I stayed with that barber for nearly 6 years!! I really like Bliss and I got excellent hair cuts. I really want to go back. But as I'll explain further, if I make an appointment, I don't want to wait 90 minutes before I can get cut. Pros: Super friendly staff Quaint, local atmosphere Great hair cuts, for me anyway Cons: Even with an appointment, I had to wait. The first time I went, I had an appointment at 1:00. I waited about 20 minutes. That's fine. The 2nd time I went in, I had an appt at 2, but waited about a half hour I would say. The 3rd time I went, my appointment was at 1:00. When I arrived, he informed me that he had 3 people ahead of me. I was welcome to wait. ???? Imagine my confusion. I have an appointment at 1, it's 12:55. There's 3 people before me. Either he is running way behind, or he stuck 3 people in. What was the point of making an appointment? He offered another person to cut my hair, and I opted for that. She was really nice and she did a decent job, she just didn't seem to invested in the cut. Which is okay. I wasn't bothered by it. As I mentioned, I really want to go back. I just didn't get any sense of being important as a customer. Maybe other people will have a different experience. Maybe I'll give it another shot one day. First things first! Shout out to Fresh! She did a AMAZING job on my hair. We talked about what I wanted, I showed her a picture and ta-da she delivered! So onto the things that I noticed : While this place seems to primarily cater to men, I think it would be nice if they could set up with a boys side and girls side. They would have to move to a bigger place because it is a real small. I was in a chair right in the middle of two guys getting their hair cut and didn't feel comfortable chatting. Parking is okay ONLY if you go early and can be out by 330pm. It's mostly metered parking and since I was getting highlights I was checking the time and noticed I only had 30 min left. Then a officer showed up and luckily one of the guys in the shop went outside to see if I had to move my truck. I did, so instead of making me leave the building with foil in my hair the other lady working in there moved my car for me. That was really great customer service! So while I was getting my hair done it seemed to be getting hotter and hotter, well the AC stopped working so everyone in shop was sweating. As I hear it, it happens a lot so they might want to get that checked out. The only other thing is the website could use some more info. More pictures, perhaps of bio's of the people who work their so you can gauge their experience level. Also there is a picture of the outside of the salon, it looks better that way. More professional. So I got a groupon and that is why I came here. Would I have come otherwise probably not. Will I come again, sure would, like I said Fresh did a great job, I would just park in a lot and walk next time so I don't have to worry to much about the metered parking. read more

Took my 3 year old for a drop in appointment. My son was a little fussy at first. Was ready to skip it and take him back another day. Kekei was awesome with him. Kekei asked him what he liked to watch on tv and found him the perfect channel. Within a minute my son was in a much better mood. My son walked out with an awesome new cut that I would not have thought of. Me and my entire family loves his new do. There was another man working in the salon who was very friendly and helpful as well. When I left the salon, Kekei ran out to return my 1k camera I had left on their chair. Super happy mommy! Called yesterday and got an appt today. The staff are professional and I almost fell asleep I was so relaxed. Got eyelash extensions from Nani with the play Hawaii coupon. With the coupon the initial set was $60, but regular without coupon is $120 so I got lucky! Touchups start at $35. Update: I felt like the lashes didn't last longer than a week :(.
