If you want full service head to toe----there are salons that can fit your needs in Waikiki and you will have to pay for its pricy services, common sense? Darn cheap-ass people stay in Waikiki but drive to this place to save few bucks and ask for haircut + nose hair trim + shaving + eye brows trim and then (after the owner accommodating to their needs) complained that is not good. Y'all complain about the owner don't speak English. To me, they are able to communicate well with me: select the hair style from a photo book, tell them the length request, and each part of the hair needs what work----done. And my haircut turned out good. What conversation do you need from your haircut guy? Going through your childhood trauma? "Old skool style barber with that personal touch" This is a far cry from the "back in the day" type haircuts where you were asked, "do you want a sheet cut or a box cut". Those were the two basic trims you could get. Now days the trimming is a more customized depending on the customer's wants. Paul and his team do a great job cutting your hair. The price is reasonable, the cutting is great, they listen to how you want your cut to go and do their best to meet your expectation. There is no parking, but street parking is usually available. Took my kids here on a whim after hearing from a friend that they offer kids cuts and are cheaper than the Pigtails & Crewcuts place we were taking them to in Salt Lake and they take walk ins. Parking is limited to street parking...its Monserrat so that's pretty much the norm. The shop itself is really small. There are 4, maybe 5 chairs total. When we walked in there were a couple of men seated and waiting. We explained that we needed a haircut for my son and a trim for my daughter (her first!). They seated my son and asked us what hairstyle we wanted for him. We were able to show them some photos of how it was before and they did a great job recreating it. As i said, my daughter just needed a trim (she's 3) to keep her hair healthy. The lady that cut her hair was nice, but didnt speak any english. Another lady had to translate for us. Sher was nice and gave us a lock of hair to keep as a souvenir as it was her first haircut. Despite this, her trim took literally less than 5 minutes and was more expensive than my son's haircut. I believe my son's cut was $20 and my daughter's trim was $25. Also the lady doing the translating was overly concerned about money. As soon as my daughter was done she was demanding payment despite the fact that my son was still in the middle of his haircut. We had to ask repeatedly if they could charge for both at once so we didn't have to run our card twice. She begrudgingly agreed but didn't seem happy about it at all. Not sure what she expected, not like we were gonna run out and leave our son there without paying. All in all, the experience was....ok. Kids were happy with their haircuts and our wallets were happy with the price despite the trim being more than the haircut (together they were still cheaper than my son getting a haircut at the other place) which doesn't quite make sense to me, but i think that's just the normal price gouging for females vs males when it comes to things like this. read more

I took my little one here because it seemed more affordable than Pigtails & Crewcuts. I found them through Yelp! Yay! Parking is street parking and it's hit or miss. I tried to make an appointment, but their voicemail wasn't set up yet? I walked in and was seen pretty quickly. They chastised a little asking why I didn't call? Unfortunately, the keiki cuts aren't discounted as before, but still cheaper than the other place. They have some photos on the wall, and I guess you had to choose from those styles. There seemed to be a little language barrier, but it turned out ok. I don't think they take too many keiki because they weren't that adaptable to my little one (first time at a non-keiki place, but not first haircut). Stylist seemed frustrated at times that little one couldn't keep head in one place because they were looking at themselves in the mirror. I'm not one to complain about businesses but I've genuinely never had such a bad haircut. I asked the lady for a skin fade, length and weight off the top and have the front of my hair lined up and boxed off. The only words I can describe having my hair being cut is butchered or hacked into. For the line up, the lady didn't take her time to ensure that the way the shaver was lined up straight. As she did the first part of the line up, where she had cut was at a vertical angle... I waited until she had finished my line up (which she had finished but was still wonky). so I had to ask her to straighten out the right hand side of my head as it was uneven. My fade (which I thought was standard) turned out to have a massive hole in my hair (at the back/side of my head) where the length was left longer at the top. Once I got out of the shop after paying for my haircut, I inspected my haircut closer once I got back to my hotel and realised that the barber had actually SHAVED MY HAIRLINE because of how high she had taken my line up. I have showed multiple people my hair and they have all said it's the worst haircut they have ever seen. Again, I'm not the one to bad mouth a business, but this experience has not only made me loose confidence in this shop, but also confidence in my own appearance (which is rare for me to feel). I do not understand why there is a 4.5 rating for this place. My significant other called and asked if I could get a shave, hair cut, waxing of my eyebrows. waxing of my nose and ears. First problem is language. You cannot communicate with them since their English is non-existent. Basic hair cut. They do not do waxing. The shave was the worse I have ever experienced. Start with dry shaving my face with an electric razor....the equivalent of road rash. She used four different types of electric razor. No lotion or shaving cream. I had my throat and face cut fours times....since I am on blood thinners, I am lucky to not have bled to death. My advice is to avoid this place like the plague read more

We're on island long enough that we need a haircut before we leave in a couple weeks. So we found Paul's Barber shop and both went there to get a trim and we're extremely pleased by how good of a job he did. It seem like his phone rang every 5 minutes as he must be very popular. We understandable since we felt like he did such a good job on both of our haircuts that we would definitely go back to him anytime we're on island and need a haircut.
